Firestar and Sandstorm are both bisexual in Burning Thistles! and in canon probably lol

their relationship in BT is slightly different - not filled with as much initial hatred since Firekit was clanborn, but that doesn’t mean there’s not any tension between them in the early days, considering Auntie Frostfur liked to fill Sandpaw’s ears with whispers of Firepaw’s parentage

they’re very much in that “oh my StarClan you guys are basically already mates just ask each other out!!” phase in BT currently lol

I was playing around with warrior cats AUs earlier and an interesting thought came up. What if Fireheart was a WindClan cat and a Med cat? (And had amnesia, for funsies) Here are some jumbled ideas in (mostly) chronological order.

Rusty leaves the two-leg place at four moons, meeting Tigerclaw. As you expect this doesn't end well. He barely gets away alive, passing out inside WindClan's border.

It's Deadfoot that finds him, acting as his main parental figure next to Barkface.

When he wakes up he doesn't know who he is or what happened. Though because he smelt like ThunderClan, Tallstar could guess.

Because of Tigerclaw, he is very scarred, the most notable one on his left side goes from his shoulder to his flank.

He was five moons when ShadowClan chased WindClan from their home. He already wanted to become a med cat and helped Barkface where he was allowed.

Firepaw gets far more warrior training than the average med cat would due to the exile. This becomes a part of WindClan culture later on.

He has a very strong connection to StarClan in this AU! While they meant for him to be a ThunderClan warrior they aren't particularly disappointed with what he chose.

Firepaw keeps having dreams of the same two cats, one a tortoiseshell tom with a red tail, one a brown tiger-like tabby with sharp claws. The tabby looks familiar but he has no idea where he'd met the cat.

We're gonna move from WindClan for now, let's check in on ThunderClan, shall we?

Spottedleaf still gets the "Fire will save our clan" prophecy, but doesn't understand it until much later.

Tigerclaw becomes deputy after he kills Redtail, but is more patient than he is in canon.

Ravenpaw doesn't leave ThunderClan because he never saw Tigerclaw kill Redtail, though he is still scared of Tigerclaw. He gets the name Ravenflight for his flighty personality. Raven x Barley is still a thing, don't worry!

Ravenpaw is the one who helps Yellowfang and is punished because he feeds her. Ravenpaw acts in the place of Firepaw for the most part.

Sandpaw stays roughly the same, her arc does not change much until later.

While Spottedleaf isn't killed by Clawface the kits are still kitnapped, and Yellowfang is still blamed. They thought she was a spy or something.

Graypaw and Ravenpaw go looking for her and find out the truth. Things go the way they did in canon. Brokenstar and his followers are chased out. After the battle, they're given their warrior names and do their vigil.

Graystripe and Ravenflight are the ones sent to find WindClan. This is how our favourite trio meet.

They actually spot Firepaw hunting and run up to him, not expecting him to turn and swipe at them. It takes Deadfoot calling out to Firepaw to make him back off.

They take a break when they meet Barley, who offers to let them stay the night in the barn. He and Ravenflight talk for hours.

When Graystripe gets Firepaw to relax, he asks about Firepaw's scars. Firepaw shakes his head and says he doesn't remember how he got them. He doesn't remember anything from before WindClan found him.

The party of cats leave, deciding to cut through RiverClan territory. They still fight with that RiverClan patrol but no one dies, luckily.

Ravenflight and Graystripe go home, both their minds stuck on different cats.

And we're gonna stop there, for now, I'll probably rb with more ideas later. My brain is already rotting with this AU so I'll def be coming back to it!

Old Faces, New Dawn

A fresh beginning from a darkened past

I am so happy with how this came out. This is for @spottyistired and their rewrite i am just so intrigued by, featuring Rust (Firepaw), Ravenpaw, Bearpaw, Sandpaw, Gracklepaw, Spottedleaf, Dreamtongue, Shiningstrike, Scourge and lastly Wolfstorm. The designs and lighting was super fun to do and I hope you like it Spotty!

(ID- the whole poster has a dawn lighting and background with the main five lit in a yellow, pink, and orange light. The antagonists are lit in a mix of purples, blues, golden, and pink. Bushes are behind the protagonists with a oak tree on the left and pine trees on the right.

Firepaw/Rust is standing in the center with a split pelt, the left a dark brown and the right a orange tabby. His right ear is torn, and he has one amber and one green eye. His front paw is forwards with his tail puffing up behind him, a unsure expression on his face. To his left is Ravenpaw who is a lanky black and white cat with a pretty purple eye and fang similarly to a snakes, his ears are tall like a bats. They are looking at Rust with a curious, and knowing expression as if they can see something the chimera cat cannot. To the right is Bearpaw who is crouched down and looking at Rust, his fluffy tail sweeping over Rust’s left leg and a smile on his face. He is a brownish gray color with a darker heart marking on his cheek and sweet golden eyes. Sandpaw is on the other side of Ravenpaw and is crouched down as if she’s about to pounce. She has a mischievous look in her green eye and her tail, which is grey at the end, is swooped to the left. On the other side of Bearpaw is Gracklepaw who is rather standoffish with a spiteful/angry expression looked towards Ravenpaw, he is brown and white with a underbite.

Above Rust is Wolfstorm who is looking straight forward with blank orange eyes and a unknown expression on is face, his mane fluffed out. He is a gray and white with a moon in his chest and markings across his face. To his left is Shiningstrike who is looking upwards with blank golden eyes, she is orange, brown, and cream with a tear like marking down to her chin. On the right id Scourge who is looking downwards. A blank blue eye and black tufty hair almost covers his face and his muzzle and chest is bare of fur. Two necklaces hang over his chest, the top with three claws and the bottom with a talon and a bird skull. Above Grackle is Dreamtongue who is facing the left with a downturned face and a green X as his pupil. He is a red tabby with white fur falling down from hid ears, and a tusk decorating his face. A green breathe comes from his mouth and is reaching out, as if to grab onto those he wishes to persuade. Across from him is Spottedleaf who is looking up with a golden star pupil and golden mist wrapping around her face. She is a brown, red, and white cat with purple and pink petals decorating her fur, a entranced expression on her blank face. Warriors Ships Hypokits: Agender!Sandstorm x Scourge Edition

This AU got so long that I didn't have room for the Ferncloud thing. But just know that Scourge in any universe doesn't tolerate not caring for kits. That deadbeat dad is getting beat (and probably shanked)

In this AU, Scourge and his littermates were only older than Rusty and his siblings by about a year and Nutmeg was their mother as well. Tiny disappeared one day after going to the forest to explore and never came back. The only thing that Nutmeg and his siblings ever found of him was the bell on his collar. This tragedy made Nutmeg overprotective of her remaining kits and make them promise to never ever enter the forest. Rusty still goes into the woods anyway and becomes Firepaw. Meanwhile a new force calling itself BloodClan begins taking over the city cats. However, the group itself isn't actually bad, they only have an evil-sounding name to be intimidating. They focus on solving problems, caring for the weak and sick, and protecting the city cats from danger. Tiny, now Scourge, makes sure that no cat is forced to brave the wilds to get what they need for survival. One day, a pair of young cats who introduce themselves as Sandpaw and Ravenpaw show up asking for sanctuary. Sandpaw explains that they and their friend Ravenpaw saw Ravenpaw's mentor murder a cat and fear that he would harm them if they remain in their Clan. Naturally the two are allowed in, with Scourge himself asking to meet them since they mentioned that they were from ThunderClan. When he asks them to describe this "Tigerclaw", their description matches that of the cat who attacked Scourge when he went into the forest as a kit. Over time, Sandpaw and Ravenpaw, now known as Storm and Raven, integrate into BloodClan, with Raven crushing hard on a tom named Barley and Storm bonding with Scourge. One day after Tigerstar rises to power, he decides to meet with BloodClan to convince them to help him take over the forest. Instead, Scourge, Storm, Brick, and Bone kill him for daring to show his face to them again. BloodClan lives in relative harmony with the Clans afterward; Raven and Barley decide they want to be country gays and move out to the farm while Storm and Scourge make things official.

Storm and Scourge have two kits together:

Ripper- large dark gray-and-ginger tabby tom with patchy fur and blue eyes. Trans tom, straight. Ripper is just as energetic as his sister but expresses it though training and battling rather than excitement and running around everywhere. He is ambitious but not overly so, wanting to run BloodClan one day but is willing to wait until he learns all he needs to know from his parents, Brick, and Bone first. He was saddened when his sister left for the barn, and then furious when she joined the Clan that his parent Storm and uncle Raven were forced to flee from. He was really just worried that she would be hurt. When she leaves with the Clans for the lake, he tells her goodbye and to be safe. Ripper misses his sister every day for the rest of his life, but reminds himself that she’s happy with her Clan wherever she is. He takes the mantle of BloodClan Leader from his father once Scourge decides to retire upon proving himself as a worthy successor. If he had been born in ThunderClan, his name would have been Tornclaw and he would have been a Brute.

Shadowstar- small black molly with one white paw and a bushy tail and blue-green eyes. Trans molly, pansexual grayromantic. This universe's version of Squirrelflight. Born as just Shadow, Shadowstar always felt a pull towards the forest. While it took a LOT of convincing, her parents sent her off to live with her gay uncles on their farm. She met Leafpaw, the daughter of ThunderClan's Leader Firestar, who shared her strange prophetic dreams. She soon joined ThunderClan and participated in the journey to the sun-drown place and earned the Warrior Name Shadowflight. She left with the Clans to go to the lake territories, but not before saying goodbye to her parents and leading the Elders who chose to stay behind to their new home in BloodClan. She is a Scout, then Deputy, and eventually becomes Leader.

I want to do a rewrite and a family tree (I swear all wc fans rewrite at least one book and we should lol) but I'm not sure how to start, if you don't mind me asking did you just start with one scene you wanted to change and go from there? like I have so many ideas but they are Not coherent yet

i had literally never heard of someone doing a rewrite for a book/series (or like, at least ones still on going) before re-immersing myself into the warrior cats fandom and now there's like hundreds to maybe even thousands of people rewriting a series that's still under copyright and still ongoing

it's such a very specific and very special relationship the readers have with this series where we HATE this series so much that we rewrite it because we LOVE this series so much

anyway i'm gonna be honest i don't know where i started

i think i was just thinking of like a whitestorm becomes leader au and then sandstorm becomes leader au and goldenflower being deputy au AND like thrushpelt still being alive as an elder when rusty joins thunderclan and i think i just started imagining the scenes of the first book and firepaw and sandpaw's relationship evolving and pinestar being the reason tigerclaw hates kittypets and darkstripe being the one to start the fire in the thunderclan camp on tigerstar's orders to try to get his kits and kill bluestar and tallstar and jake being fireheart's biological parents and replacing swiftpaw with brackenpaw because graystripe was slacking on being a mentor and goldenflower being the one to get the final blow to take the rest of tigerstar's lives

and then ALSO just really liking squirrelflight x nightcloud and then things just unfurled

Firestar x sandstorm?

I think in canon they had some potential. I like the idea of their dynamic, with the kind guy getting with a more prickly girl who has a soft spot for him. However, it always felt like it was missing something, and like it needed much more development than we got.

As for the rewrite!

Sandstorm ends up as one of Fireheart's two mates (for those curious, the other one is Dustpelt, who's also Sandstorm's queerplatonic partner).

They have a bit of a rocky start, similarly to canon, with Sandpaw being a bit of a bully towards Firepaw when he first joins Thunderclan. At first Firepaw simply takes it, not wanting to get in trouble with the rest of the clan for being loud, but as he grows more confident he starts standing up to Sandpaw.

It takes him questioning a few other cats to learn that he and Sandpaw actually have a lot more in common than he'd thought, as she was also an outsider who joined when she was near apprentice age. This makes him feel sympathetic towards her, and though she initially brushes off any attempts at actually bonding, she does realise it's not a fight worth fighting.

Once they actually get together, they're very close. Fireheart, being the much nicer and softer cat, often is the calming force for Sandstorm, who's more on the prickly side. At the same time, Sandstorm is often the voice of reason for the somewhat dense and naive Fireheart.

“Yellowfang didn’t have anything to do wi-”

“THEN WHO WAS IT?!” Sandpaw screamed, her chest bursting with rage. Tears pricked her eyes. “WHO KILLED MY AUNTIE?”

“Clawface,” Yellowfang said, barely audible over the howling wind. “I caught his scent around the nursery.“

“Clawface...” A dark tom with a scarred face came to mind. She’d seen him before at gatherings. Sandpaw nodded slowly, a dark look creeping up her face, “I’ll kill him.”

“Get in line.” Firepaw growled.

A silent truce passed between them. Clawface would pay.

Clawface should really be more careful of which medicine cats he kills.

Sandpaw basically sees Firepaw and Ravenpaw sneaking out after they speak to Bluestar and she follows them from a distance. She loses their trail for a long while after the storm picks up and walks in right after Ravenpaw has left and Firepaw has found Yellowfang. 

Clawface killed the last of her family and is the reason Firepaw has lost two out of the three cats close to him. There will be hell to pay.

OK BUT THATS REALLY CUTE... usually i just like making fan clans with crossover characters but the concept of rusty being mono and mono becoming a warrior with six is really cute. maybe six would even be like. graypaw or ravenpaw? except ravenpaw doesn’t run away and tigerclaw Gets What He Deserves. or with graypaw he would stay with firepaw or something. six and mono deserve to stay Friends. the runaway kid being graypaw or ravenpaw would be neat too...

in a ln discord server im in we were playing around with a warriors au and everyone came up with the names “onepaw” for mono and “hexpaw” for six, with six being a rogue and keeping her rogue name...i think a cute warrior name for onepaw would be oneheart. and hexfire for six?

Mosskit lives and is ThunderClan along with their brother and sister.

Snowfur died and Thistleclaw was heartbroken and even more driven to be leader. He befriends Spottedkit, who takes to him like another father figure

Pinestar, feeling like he could do more for his family, hunted more and more to feed Leopardfoot and his kits. Mistkit and Nightkit thrived on the extra food and survived.

His final act as leader was to name Tigerpaw, Mistpaw and Nightpaw apprentices and tell them that he loved them very much but unfortunately could not stay because he could not live a Clan life any more. He surrenders his nine lives at the Moonstone, causing Sunstar to get a full nine.

Spottedkit is encouraged to be a medicine cat apprentice and he manipulates her into faking signs from StarClan for him to be deputy

Thistleclaw is named deputy because of the false sign

Bluefur keeps her kits and raises them with Thrushpelt, who she befriends

Tigerpaw mistrusts kittypets because of that, yet refuses to hurt Tiny because he was small and reminded him of Nightpaw. Thistleclaw finishes the job by breaking Tiny’s neck

Quince finds out Tiny is dead and swears vengeance on the forest, renaming herself Queen to be queen of the Twolegplace cats.

Bluefur is enraged and horrified, and asks Sunstar to exile him. Sunstar does, Bluefur is named deputy and assigned as Tigerpaw’s new mentor

Spottedpaw is quietly seething on her own because she is mislead into believing that Thistleclaw, her kind father, could not kill a kit. Out of the misunderstanding, she plans to undermine Sunstar.

As a result of Bluefur’s firm guidance Tigerpaw grows ambitious but kind to those in need, and not to mention patient. He is close with Redpaw, Spottedpaw’s Changeheart (trans) brother.

In the seasons that follow, Sunstar dies and leaves Bluestar as leader. She names Redtail deputy. Redtail has two kits with Tigerclaw, Firekit and Sandkit. Due to deputy duties Redtail asks Tigerclaw to take care of them, but the two kits love both of their dads very much.

Tigerclaw becomes a nursery queen and decides he likes this life. This intimidating tom is surrounded by little bouncy babies all day and is very happy.

Spottedleaf gets the Fire Alone prophecy but does not tell Bluestar

Firekit grows up and is named Firepaw along with Sandpaw and Greypaw.

Redtail dies in the Sunningrocks battle by the rock fall, trying to save Oakheart’s life (not killed by Tigerclaw.) He is unsuccessful, though, and Oakheart goes to StarClan as well.

Firepaw, Sandpaw and Dustpaw are very sad. Sandpaw and Dustpaw bond closer with the grief, while Firepaw feels as if he’s drifting away from his sister.

Thrushpelt, an elderly cat but Bluestar’s most trusted friend, is named deputy.

hhhh I need to talk about this warriors au sitting around in my brain anyways here goes

Differences in clan custom:

- It’s pretty normal to bring in and/or mate with outsiders so as to keep the gene pool not so... incesty...

- Clans pretty much are a large family unit. It’s not uncommon for cats in the same age group to think of each other as siblings despite not being from the same litter.

- LGBTQ+ is seen as a normal thing and accepted without much question. It’s customary for cats to introduce themselves with their pronouns included.

- Mollies can be deputies/leaders while nursing kits. The idea that they can’t is just sexism.

- Sign language is a standard skill because,,,, let’s be real,,, it’s pretty much practicality.

- Disabled cats can be warriors because the only reason they can’t is ableism.

Storyline changes:

- Tiny was found by Bluestar on her own rather than Thistleclaw and Tigerpaw. He becomes part of ThunderClan under the name of Nightpaw, and later Nightstorm.

- Rusty and Princess join ThunderClan at the same time as Firepaw and Kindlepaw. Firepaw is trans.

- Sandpaw and Dustpaw don’t bully Firepaw. However, Sandpaw is generally unpleasant because of losing her father recently, and Dustpaw is destructive and unpleasant because he and Ravenpaw were loner kits with an abusive mother before coming to ThunderClan. They both get support.

- Ravenpaw stays in the clan and earns the warrior name Ravenfeather. He has support for his anxiety and PTSD.

- Mosskit is the child of Bluestar and Thistleclaw (result of a one night stand). They are non-binary and go by they/them. They’re a ThunderClan cat and their warrior name is Mossheart. They mentor Firepaw.

- Tigerclaw is less Obviously Evil, he’s a lot more covert about his actions.

- Tigerclaw is Snowfur’s son and Whitestorm’s brother. That’s why Bluestar falls apart after that, because that was her nephew and she loved him dearly. 

- WindClan doesn’t get kicked out because that’s whack and really never would have happened in any sort of realistic scenario.

- Brokenstar is less... stupid. He makes smarter decisions. Basically, instead of training young kits, he collects lots of rogue allies and wages war on the other three clans.

- Crookedstar X Bluestar instead of Oakheart X Bluestar. Because the idea of this just being a taboo subject that a lot of people kind of know about, but they’re just rumours and like as if our two clan leaders would have had an affair with each other? Gold.

- Crooked X Blue have Mistyfoot, Stonefur and Silverstream. Bluestar pretty much stares down her daughter and thinks “why did she do literally the exact same thing I did” and Silverstream’s death is the first thing that starts pushing her towards breaking.

- Stormkit and Featherkit go to RiverClan without a fight because the claim does belong to the mother’s clan regardless of circumstance. Graystripe doesn’t change clans (he can’t bring himself to leave his entire family for one that won’t trust him) but is still very much present in his kits’ lives. 

- Firepaw, Kindlepaw and Graypaw stay apprentices until the end of the second book.

- Dustpelt, Ravenfeather and Sandstorm become warriors before the other three apprentices.

- Cloudtail is Ruby’s son. Ruby is leader of BloodClan (renamed “The Clowder). She couldn’t deal with having a son and leading The Clowder, so she gave him to Nightstorm instead.

- Fireheart, Kindleflame, Nightstorm and Cloudtail actually have significant family relationships.

- Cloudtail, Ashfur and Ferncloud are foster siblings and it’s relevant.

- Cloudtail, Ashfur and Ferncloud are Sandstorm’s younger siblings and it’s relevant.

- Dust X Fern is changed so that it’s less creepy.

- Snowkit lives. His warrior name is Snowcloud.

- Cinderpelt, despite being disabled, is not a medicine cat because she’s disabled. She’s a tripod (born without a leg) rather than an accident happening. She becomes a medicine cat because she wanted to be one.

- Yellowfang was originally named Murkstorm, but Brokenstar changed her name as a way to disgrace her.

- Swiftpaw is Brambleflower (Bramblestar) and Tawnypelt’s older brother and it’s relevant. 

- When The Clowder comes to the forest, Ruby tries to take Cloudtail back. He declines, and ThunderClan straight-up refuses to give him up.

- Leafpool is a demigirl and Squirrelflight is agenderflux. Brambleflower and Squirrelflight have a toxic relationship (so basically canon) and eventually the truth about the three’s parents is the final straw that break’s the camel’s back. Squirrelflight gets together with Nightcloud and Brambleflower with Stormfur. Alderheart and Sparkpelt are Nightcloud and Squirrelflight’s kits.

- Squirrelflight and Crowslash (Crowfeather) have a one-night stand resulting in kits. Squirrelflight rather than Leafpool because it’s less out of nowhere. Squirrelflight doesn’t know if the three are Brambleflower’s or Crowslash’s until the kits are born and Hollykit has almost his exact coat and Jayfeather has the exact same WindClan build. Crowfeather knows upon seeing them that they’re his but keeps quiet. Brambleflower notices but blames it on coincidence. He had some doubt in the back of his mind but it’s mostly gone by the time they’re apprentices.

- OKAY SO the story behind Squirrel X Crow. Instead of Feather X Crow, Crowslash and Squirrelflight have a highly passionate affair during the great journey, before breaking it off because they’d rather stay loyal to their clans. Squirrelflight moves on with Brambleflower and Crowslash “moves on” with Nightcloud. At first, all seems well until Squirrelflight and Brambleflower have a massive fight, and she finds herself at WindClan’s border. She is met with a Crowslash who immediately moves to comfort her. They end up getting more... sexual (Crow just can’t resist his old flame). Afterwards they are both extremely ashamed and vow to never speak of this again. That is, until Squirrelflight gets pregnant...

- Lionshade (Lionblaze) becomes the medicine cat instead of Jayfeather. He’s terrified of his powers and doesn’t want to hurt anyone. He and Jay say “fuck you” to destiny.

- Hollyheart (Hollyleaf) is the third cat. Their power is persuasion. They can convince others to agree with them or do things for them. They can’t make them do anything against their morals and it might not work against a particularly strong-willed kind of cat, but they just have a kind of... charisma about them. She doesn’t die in the last hope, but near the beginning of a Vision of Shadows.

- Dovewing is the fourth cat. Her powers remain the same. She’s pressured into becoming mates with Bumblestripe by her friends, Rosepetal and Blossomfall, because he loves her. However, she feels nothing for him. She’s only ever had one crush before, and it was on Sedgewhisker, an older molly from WindClan. She finds herself more and more drawn to another friend, however... Briarlight. Briarlight listens to Dovewing without judgement and helps her find the courage to break up with Bumblestripe. The two mollies become mates not long after. 

- Ivypool is pretty much the same as she was in canon but Fernsong is a bit older. Blossomfall is their other mate and they’re in a happy polyamorous relationship with their lovely kits, Bristlefrost, Flippaw, Thriftpaw, Shellfur and Plumstone.

- Thornclaw’s a single dad, his kits are Eaglewing and Stemleaf.

- Leafpool dies in the final battle of Omen of the Stars, leaving Lionshade devastated. Hollyheart also dies. Lionshade then takes on his younger half-brother, Alderheart, as his apprentice, and it becomes a really precious sibling bond. 

- Shadowpaw is Tigerheart’s son with another molly (not sure who yet). He’s still the same as in canon, just not Dovewing’s son. Lightleap and Pouncestep are still Dovewing’s daughters however. 

- Tigerheart never becomes leader. In fact, he STAYS. DEAD. Tawnypelt is ShadowClan’s leader instead.

And yeah that’s all I got so far should I make a separate blog and turn this into a rewrite?
