I don’t usually talk about film, but I really wanted to share my prediction for best actor at the Oscar’s (plz don’t be mean I’m not a film major 🥺). I’ll set the scene. It’s March 10. Michelle Yeoh comes on stage to present best actor. She opens the envelope, the winner is Cillian Murphy. He comes on stage to accept to thunderous applause. He pauses, the audience holds its breath in anticipation for his acceptance speech. But wait, what’s this? He’s reaching towards his chin? He’s wearing a mask??? ITS BRADLEY COOPER IN A CILLIAN MURPHY SUIT!!! ITS HIS OSCAR NOW BITCH! He starts maniacally laughing the Oscar is finally his! Suddenly two loud knocks come from the doors. The room goes silent. The doors burst open to reveal no other than CILLIAN MURPHY COVERED IN BLOOD AND DIRT FROM BRADLEY COOPER BURYING HIM IN A DITCH. He makes his way to the stage. What’s that in his hand. ITS CILLIAN WITH THE STEAL CHAIR COME TO CLAIM HIS TITLE. They grapple back and forth, while the FBI can’t seem to get a clear shot at Bradley. They take the shot anyway, hitting both Bradley and Cillian, killing them upon impact. Jimmy Kimmel, clearly shaken comes up to the podium. “In light of recent events, the Oscar will now go to the runner up. And the Oscar goes to…..NIMONA.” NIMONA wins every. single. Oscar. Ever. Blood and tears were shed but gay people will always win.

Lecture 3: The beloved Fats Domino, one of rock ‘n’ roll’s most popular early stars, performs his 1955 hit “Ain’t That a Shame” This is from the 1956 film Shake, Rattle and Rock!. Many white adults in the 1950s felt comfortable with their teenage kids listening to Fats because he seemed like a “safe” performer, unlike Chuck Berry and Little Richard, who had edgier styles. Fats always maintained a wholesome and friendly persona – non-rebellious and gentle – that made him a favourite among parents, and accepted by record buyers even in the Jim Crow South.

Nigdy nie interesowały mnie historie o miłości i raczej „gardzę” typowymi komediami romantycznymi czy ckliwymi historyjkami, ale dla Jane Austen od dawien dawna mam zarezerwowane specjalne miejsce w serduszku. Czy to przez brytyjski humor i (jakże uniwersalne) wyśmiewanie przywar, przybliżenie realiów minionej epoki, oryginalne bohaterki czy łatwość z jaką przychodzi te dzieła czytać, powieści Austen pozostają w gronie moich ulubieńców.

A sentymentem darzę także wiele ich filmowych interpretacji, m.in. „Dumę i Uprzedzenie” z 2005 roku ze świetnymi roli pierwszoplanowymi w wykonaniu Keiry Knightley i Matthew Macfadyena 🤍

A właśnie w okresie jesienno-zimowym takie filmy ogląda się całkiem przyjemnie i nastrojowo. 🌚
