WIP Wednesday Game
Taken from @kedreeva.
It’s WIP Wednesday, time for a little accountability, sharing your work, and getting a kick in the pants.
Here’s how it works:
In a reblog of this post (so people can find you in the notes) or new thread (w/ rules attached) if you want to play on your own, post up to five (5) filenames of your WIPs; not titles, file names.
Post a snippet from one of them. Snippet must be words you wrote in the last 7 days. We’re posting progress here. If you haven’t made any, go make some and come back to play!
After you’ve posted, people can send you an ask with one of your file names. You must then write 3 sentences in that file. If the filename is one you can't share from (for example, an event or gift fic), write 3 sentences on it anyway, and then 3 more on another to share.
That’s it! You can invite others to join in, or just post. I’ll be searching the reblogs to find people to send asks to!
If you’re reading this, you’re invited!
If you see someone posting a WIP Wednesday Game snippet, send them an ask! Make them write.

snippet from "a fake cryptid and a real romantic":
Clark hears a sudden rush of air and a thrumming, not-quite-human heartbeat, and is therefore unsurprised when Superboy pops up over the side of the Metropolis rooftop he’s sitting on and grins up at him. The kid always seems to be in a good mood, but is clearly in an even better one than usual.
“Guess what?!” Superboy greets gleefully, pushing himself up on the edge.
“What?” Clark asks, smiling wryly at him. The kid just gets so enthusiastic so easily. It’s kind of funny, to be honest.
“I got a date!” Superboy says delightedly, plopping into a seat beside him and kicking his legs excitedly as he does. “Robin said I could go hunting with him in Gotham this weekend!”
“You’re going to hang out, you mean,” Clark corrects kindly, since Superboy still has a notably skewed education and concept of correct terminology and probably calling working with another vigilante a “date” without knowing what that actually means isn’t going to end well for the kid in the long run. Especially since Robin isn’t actually an aspect of Gotham like the Batman is and would definitely be confused by it.
Admittedly, the Batman gets confused by some very straightforward things sometimes, but still.
“‘Hang out’,” Superboy repeats, cocking his head with a slightly puzzled expression that almost immediately clears into another excited grin. “That, yeah! I caught Catwoman breaking into some fancy cat exhibit in Gotham and dropped her off for him, and he was into it! And I gave him a diamond and he liked that too!”
“A . . . diamond?” Clark blinks. He really hopes Catwoman didn’t manage to be that bad of an influence on the kid in one meeting, but he wouldn’t put it past her. Superboy’s impressionable and Catwoman is . . . well, Catwoman. “Uh–where’d you get that?”
“I made it!” Superboy says proudly, puffing himself up as he mimes the act of crushing something in his fists.
. . . alright then, Clark thinks, mildly bewildered. He has no idea why Superboy would make a diamond, much less give it to Robin, but the kid gets weird ideas into his head sometimes and he supposes it would’ve been good practice for controlling his strength to very specific pressures, so he’s not going to say anything about it.
“Did you?” he says, figuring he should keep the conversation going. Superboy’s an odd kid, but he’s eager and has a good heart and always soaks up attention like a sponge, so Clark always tries to talk to the kid at least a little whenever the other finds him.
“I figured Robin’d like it,” Superboy says reasonably, kicking his feet again. “Birds like shiny stuff, and he’s kinda a bird, right?”
Clark is going to assume that Tim Drake more appreciated the expensive gemstone than the “shiny stuff”, assuming a teenage boy would even care about anything like that anyway, but he doesn’t want to rain on Superboy’s parade. Honestly, he’s just glad the kid’s finally trying to make a friend or two in the community who isn’t wearing an “S”. It never hurts to have a little backup on call–or to have a friend who understands the life around, either.
He’s not actually certain what the Batman’s latest Robin’s policy on maintaining his secret identity among the larger hero community is–even Dick still typically presents himself as a city splinter, just of Bludhaven instead of Gotham now–but even if he keeps passing for a cryptid with Superboy for a little while longer, it’s not like Superboy’s had a normal life experience. He’s not going to be bothered that he can’t talk about girls and homework with his new friend first thing.
Clark vaguely dreads the possibility of Superboy eventually deciding to come to him to talk about girls, because he has absolutely no idea how to talk to anyone about girls, much less an impressionable teenager who’s guaranteed to hang on his every word for the whole conversation and take everything he says as gospel while also misunderstanding at least half of it, judging by most of their previous conversations. He hasn’t even been able to figure out how to give the kid the Kryptonian version of the talk, though, much less if it’s actually applicable to him. Relationship issues and dating are a whole other kettle of fish.
Well, with any luck Superboy will stay too young for that kind of thing for a little while longer, Clark hopes halfheartedly. Just–please?

What's your favorite ebook-compatible reading software? Firefox EPUBReader isn't great, but I'm not what, if anything, works better.
Very short answer: for EPUBs, on Windows I use and recommend the Calibre reader, and on iOS I use Marvin but it's dying and no longer downloadable so my fallback recommendation is the native Apple Books app; for PDFs, on Windows I use Sumatra, and on iOS I use GoodReader; for CBZs, I use CDisplayEx on Windows and YACReader on iOS; and I don't use other platforms very often, so I can't speak as authoritatively about those, although Calibre's reader is cross-platform for Windows/Mac/Linux, and YACReader for Windows/Mac/Linux/iOS/Android, so they can serve as at least a minimum baseline of quality against which alternatives can be compared for those platforms.
Longer answer:
First off, I will say: yeah, Firefox EPUBReader isn't great. Neither, really, are most ebook readers. I have yet to find a single one that I'm fully satisfied with. I have an in-progress project to make one that I'm fully satisfied with, but it's been slow, probably isn't going to hit 1.0.0 release before next year at current rates, and isn't going to be actually definitively the best reader on the market for probably months or years post-release even assuming I succeed in my plans to keep up its development. So, for now, selection-of-ebook-readers tends to be very much a matter of choosing the best among a variety of imperfect options.
Formats-wise, there are a lot of ebook formats, but I'm going to collapse my answers down to focusing on just three, for simplicity. Namely: EPUB, PDF, and CBZ.
EPUB is the best representative of the general "reflowable-text ebook designed to display well on a wide variety of screens" genre. Other formats of similar nature exist—Kindle's MOBI and AZW3 formats, for instance (the latter of which is, in essence, just an EPUB in a proprietary Amazon wrapper)—but conversion between formats-in-this-broad-genre is generally pretty easy and not excessively lossy, so you're generally safe to convert to EPUB as needed if you've got different formats-in-this-genre and a reader that doesn't support those formats directly. (And it's rare for a program made by anyone other than Amazon to work for non-EPUB formats-in-this-genre and not for EPUBs.)
PDF is a pretty unique / distinctive format without any widely-used alternatives I'm aware of, unless you count AZW4 (which is a PDF in a proprietary Amazon wrapper). It's the best format I'm aware of for representations of books with rigid non-reflowable text-formatting, as with e.g. TTRPG rulebooks which do complicated things with their art-inserts and sidebars.
And CBZ serves here as a stand-in for the general category of "bunch of images in an archive file of some sort, ordered by filename", which is a common format for comics. CBZ is zip-based, CBR is RAR-based, CB7 is 7-zip-based, et cetera; but they're easy to convert between one another just by extracting one and then re-archiving it in one's preferred format, and CBZ is the most commonly distributed and the most commonly supported by readers, so it's the one I'm going to focus on.
With those prefaces out of the way, here are my comprehensive answers by (platform, format) pair:
Browser, EPUB
I'm unaware of any good currently-available browser-based readers for any of the big ebook formats. I've tried out EPUBReader for Firefox, as well as some other smaller Firefox-based reader extensions, and none of them have impressed me. I haven't tested any Chrome-based readers particularly extensively, but based on some superficial testing I don't have the sense that options are particularly great there either.
This state of affairs feels intuitively wrong to me. The browser is, in a significant sense, the natural home for EPUB-like reflowable-text ebooks, to a greater degree than it's the natural home for a great many of the other things people manage to warp it into being used for; after all, EPUBs are underlyingly made of HTML-file-trees. My own reader-in-progress will be browser-based. But nonetheless, for now, my advice for browser-based readers boils down to "don't use them unless you really need to".
If you do have to use one, EPUBReader is the best extension-based one I've encountered. I have yet to find a good non-extension-based website-based one, but am currently actively in the market for such a thing for slightly-high-context reasons I'll put in the tags.
Browser, PDF
Firefox and Chrome both have built-in PDF readers which are, like, basically functional and fine, even if not actively notably-good. I'm unaware of any browser-based PDF-reading options better than those two.
Browser, CBZ
If there exist any good options here, I'm not aware of them.
Windows, EPUB
Calibre's reader is, unfortunately, the best on the market right now. It doesn't have a very good scrolled display mode, which is a mark against it by my standards, and it's a bit slow to open books and has a general sense of background-clunkiness to its UI, but in terms of the quality with which it displays its content in paginated mode—including relatively-uncommon sorts of content that most readers get wrong, like vertical text—it's pretty unparalleled, and moreover it's got a generally wider range of features and UI-customization options than most readers offer. So overall it's my top recommendation on most axes, despite my issues with it.
There's also Sigil. I very emphatically don't actually recommend Sigil as a reader for most purposes—it's marketed as an EPUB editor, lacks various features one would want in a reader, and has a much higher-clutter UI than one would generally want in a reader—but its preview pane's display engine is even more powerful than Calibre's for certain purposes—it can successfully handle EPUBs which contain video content, for instance, which Calibre falls down on—so it can be a useful backup to have on hand for cases where Calibre's display-capabilities break down.
Windows, PDF
I use SumatraPDF and think it's pretty good. It's very much built for reading, rather than editing / formfilling / etc.; it's fast-to-launch, fast-to-load-pages, not too hard to configure to look nice on most PDFs, and generally lightweight in its UI.
When I need to do fancier things, I fall back on Adobe Reader, which is much more clunky on pretty much every axis for purposes of reading but which supports form-filling and suchlike pretty comprehensively.
(But I haven't explored this field in huge amounts of depth; plausibly there exist better options that I'm unaware of, particularly on the Adobe-reader-ish side of things. (I'd be a bit more surprised if there were something better than SumatraPDF within its niche, for Windows, and very interested in hearing about any such thing if it does exist.))
Windows, CBZ
My usual CBZ-reader for day-to-day use—which I also use for PDF-based comics, since it has various features which are better than SumatraPDF for the comic-reading use case in particular—is an ancient one called CDisplayEx which, despite its age, still manages to be a solid contender for best in its field; it's reasonably performant, it has most of the features I need (good handling of spreads, a toggle for left-to-right versus right-to-left reading, a good set of options for setting how the pages are fit into the monitor, the ability to force it forward by just one page when it's otherwise in two-page mode, et cetera), and in general it's a solid functional bit of software, at least by the standards of its field.
The reason I describe CDisplayEx as only "a solid contender for" best in its field, though, is: recently I had cause to try out YACReader, a reader I tried years ago on Windows and dismissed at the time, on Linux; and it was actually really good, like basically as good as CDisplayEx is on Windows. I haven't tried the more recent versions of YACReader on Windows directly, yet; but it seems pretty plausible that my issues with the older version are now resolved, that the modern Windows version is comparable to the Linux version, and therefore that it's on basically the same level as CDisplayEx quality-wise.
Mac, EPUB/PDF/CBZ
I don't use Mac often enough to have opinions here beyond "start with whatever cross-platform thing is good elsewhere, as a baseline, and go on from there". Don't settle for any EPUB reader on Mac worse than the Calibre one, since Calibre works on Mac. (I've heard vague good things about Apple's native one; maybe it's actually a viable option?) Don't settle for any CBZ reader on Mac worse than YACReader, since YACReader works on Mac. Et cetera. (For PDFs I don't have any advice on what to use even as baseline, unfortunately; for whatever reason, PDF readers, or at least the better ones, seem to tend not to be natively cross-platform.)
Linux, EPUB
For the most part, my advice is the same as Windows: just go with the Calibre reader (and maybe use Sigil as a backup for edge cases). However, if you, like me, prefer scrolled EPUB-reading over paginated EPUB-reading, I'd also suggest checking out Foliate; while it's less powerful than the Calibre reader overall, with fewer features and more propensity towards breaking in edge cases, it's basically functional for normal books lacking unusual/tricky formatting, and, unlike Calibre, it has an actually-good scrolled display mode.
Linux, PDF
I have yet to find any options I'm fully satisfied with here, for the "fast launch and fast rendering and functional lightweight UI" niche that I use SumatraPDF for on Windows. Among the less-good-but-still-functional options I've tried out: SumatraPDF launched via Wine takes a while to start up, but once launched it has the usual nice SumatraPDF featureset. Zathura with the MuPDF backend is very pleasantly-fast, but has a somewhat-unintuitive keyboard-centric control scheme and is hard to configure. And qpdfview offers a nice general-purpose PDF-reading UI, including being quick to launch, but its rendering backend is slower than either Sumatra's or Zathura's so it's less good for paging quickly through large/heavy PDFs.
Linux, CBZ
YACReader, as mentioned previously in the Windows section, is pretty definitively the best option I've found here, and its Linux version is a solid ~equal to CDisplayEx's Windows version. Like CDisplayEx, it's also better than more traditional PDF readers for reading PDF-based comics.
iOS/iPadOS, EPUB
My current main reading app is Marvin. However, it hasn't been updated in years, and is no longer available on the app store, so I'm currently in the process of getting ready to migrate elsewhere in anticipation of Marvin's likely permanent breakage some time in the next few years. Thus I will omit detailed discussion of Marvin and instead discuss the various other at-least-vaguely-comparably-good options on the market.
For general-purpose reading, including scrolled reading if that's your thing, Apple's first-party Books app turns out to be surprisingly good. It's not the best in terms of customization of display-style, but it's basically solidly functional, moreso than the vast majority of the apps on the market.
For reading of books with vertical text in particular, meanwhile, I use Yomu, which is literally the only reader I've encountered to date on any platform which has what I'd consider to be a sensible and high-quality way of handling scrolled reading of vertical-text-containing books. While I don't recommend it for more general purposes, due to awkward handling of EPUBs' tables of contents (namely, kind of ignoring them and doing its own alternate table-of-contents thing it thinks is better), it is extremely good for that particular niche, as well as being more generally solid-aside-from-the-TOC-thing.
iOS/iPadOS, PDF
I use GoodReader. I don't know if it's the best in the market, but it's very solidly good enough for everything I've tried to do with it thus far. It's fast; its UI is good at getting out of my way, while still packing in all the features I want as options when I go looking for them (most frequently switching between two-page-with-front-cover and two-page-without-front-cover display for a given book); also in theory it has a bunch of fancy PDF-editing features for good measure, although in practice I never use those and can't comment on their quality. But, as a reader, it's very solidly good enough for me, and I wish I could get a reader like it for desktop.
iOS/iPadOS, CBZ
YACReader has an iOS version; following the death of my former favorite comic reader for iOS (ComicRack), it's very solidly the best option I'm aware of on the market. (And honestly would be pretty competitive even if ComicRack were still around.) I recommend it here as I do on Linux.
Android, EPUB/PDF/CBZ
It's been years since I've had an Android device, and accordingly have very little substantial advice here. (I'm expecting to move back to Android for my next phone-and-maybe-also-tablet, out of general preferring-open-hardware-and-software-when-practical feelings, but it'll plausibly be a while, because Apple is much better at long-lasting hardware and software than any Android manufacturers I'm aware of.) For EPUB, I recall Moon+ reader was the best option I could find back circa 2015ish, but that's long enough ago that plausibly things have changed substantially at this point. For CBZ, both YACReader and CDisplayEx have Android versions, although I haven't tried either and so can't comment on their quality. For PDF, you're on your own; I have no memories or insights there.
Conclusion
...and that's it. If there are other major platforms on which ebook-reader software can be chosen, I'm failing to think of them currently, and this is what I've got for all platforms I have managed to think of.
In the future... well, I hope my own reader-in-development (slated for 1.0.0 release as a Firefox extension with only EPUB support, with ambitions of eventually expanding to cover other platforms and other formats) will one day join this recommendation-pile, but it's currently not yet in anything resembling a recommendable form. And I hope that there are lots of good reader-development projects in progress that I currently don't know about; but, if there are, I currently don't know about them.
So, overall, this is all I've got! I hope it's helpful.

Hi - Uh (ig) sorry I was gone, I may not be as active as before, I'm having problems with my mental health and personal life. Anyways what did I miss??? :D
You know what time it is.. STORY TIME! I'm back with more File and Sweep stuff!! It's based on something, let's see if you catch it! Also, this one is more.. Uh, fanfic like?- I prefer writing this way, I think it turns out better!
Also uh sorry if there's any spelling mistakes you can point those out- 😭
"O-oh.. Jeepers..", Filename sighed as he grabbed his chest, feeling a sense of tension pulsating there. His vision was blurry yet his eye(s?? >:P) shifted around the room. He felt warm.. Very warm. What was happening to him? This was new. Filename smiled and giggled to himself, tightly grabbing his hair with the other hand. Suddenly, the door creeked and a tall green fellow with a broom peeked into the room. He kept quiet for a short period of time but then spoke, still quietly, "File..? Is there something wrong again?" As expected, Filename did not say anything, so concerned Sweep stepped into the room, gripping his broom a little tighter, and questioned yet again, "File?" At that moment Filename jerked his head towards Sweep. His eyes were glowing pink and he had white hearts instead of pupils. His grin slowly widened and he spoke in a shaky voice, "Sweep.. Dear.." At that very moment Sweep hardly swallowed. He was.. Uncomfortable. Filename turned the rest of his body in Sweep's direction and slowly walked over to him, however when he was only a couple of steps away he suddenly darted towards Sweep. And there was a moment of silence. Before Sweep could make out what just happened, he was standing back against the wall with Filename holding the broomstick up to his neck. Filename's breathing became a bit heavier as he stared into Sweep's eyes, still smiling. Filename then squinted his eyes and softly whispered, "Sweep.. I love you, dear..~"
Cliffhanger HAHAHAH I'm so evil :)
But ye u h- I hope it's not like- VERY weird and not too inappropriate omgskndnens- 😭

Hello! I’ve been archiving stuff for a fandom I’m in (RWBY for context) and posting it to a side blog for fun. Really, I’m just compiling stuff I don’t see anyone sharing. I don’t want to misidentify what I’m doing!
I was wondering if you had ever posted anything about how you upscale images? You’re quite good at it, so I was wondering if you had shared any advice. When I upscale, the quality goes way down!
I don’t want you to think I’m using you instead of google! I’ve looked up guides on this, but I’m still struggling a bit. I’ve tried working with “vectors” on the advice of a friend.
Of course, I’m not really sure if this is the polite way to go about this. Maybe it’s a super secret and this is a severe faux pax! Please disregard this if it is! You feel a bit like an upperclassman in archiving (a senpai, if you prefer) and we’ve interacted several times.
Not top secret at all!! It's just kind of... esoteric lol... Been too lazy to explain it. But since you asked... ;P
I use Real ESRGAN for the main upscaling part of the process: https://github.com/xinntao/Real-ESRGAN/
It comes with instructions but basically you plop your image into the same folder as the .EXE and then run this in the terminal:
./realesrgan-ncnn-vulkan.exe -i input.jpg -o output.png
Replace input.jpg with the full filename of the file you're upscaling and then change output.png to what you want the upscaled file to be named. I usually just make it like [OG filename]BIG.png haha
Waifu2x works alright-ish too, if ESRGAN doesn't work on your machine for whatever reason: https://waifu2x.udp.jp/index.html
Once I've got the upscaled file, I do the rest in Clip Studio Paint EX 2.0. CSP's image resizer's not very good, so I don't rely on it. But the Smart Smoothing and general image adjustment tools are useful. Sometimes I'll do some light cleanup in CSP before upscaling the file too, like removing dust with the Clone Stamp or light redrawing of fuzzy parts, etc. Most art/image editing tools will have what you need. I don't get to use Smart Smoothing for archival stuff often enough to say it's absolutely worth buying CSP for.
ESRGAN is a very powerful tool, but it does lose almost all of the image's original texture when it upscales. Things like analog art or anything with rough or grainy textures will get smoothed, but already smooth digital art upscales beautifully. The best workaround I've found for restoring texture is to take the original image, resize it in CSP to the scale of the upscaled image, and then paste the OG image over it, adjust the opacity, and then use the Sharpen filter to fix it from there.
So if the original image is 400x800px and the upscaled image is 8000x16000px, you'll use the CSP resizer to enlarge the OG image to 8000x16000px and use that as the overlay to restore some of the texture. It's not perfect, but it looks better than leaving it entirely smooth. Each image is different, you'll get pretty good at figuring out what texture to use and which to erase. I've found making a greyscale static texture, setting its layer to Overlay mode, and adjusting that helps a little too. I'll put the texture I use under a readmore below.
If the image is too small, not even ESRGAN can help... It's also not too good at text if there's a lot of .JPG noise in the way. If there's text, there's a good chance you'll have to manually redraw it or font-match it and completely redo it.
Good luck!! Hope this helps. Thank you for the compliments, too!!
Tumblr media
Sometimes Gaussian Blur-ing this very, very, slightly works with the image better but most of the time I find that leaving it crisp looks the best. Editor's discretion.

“Do you-” Carlos starts once TK lets go of him. Then he shakes his head. If TK wanted to tell him, he would. “Nevermind.” He goes back to kissing TK, using his tongue to open TK’s mouth for him. If he can drive TK wild again, hopefully TK will forget his slip.
He should’ve known better than that.
“Do I what? Babe?” That’s something TK has started calling him. Babe. Carlos doesn’t think TK realizes he’s been doing it. So he hasn’t mentioned it to TK. Wants to make sure TK still keeps calling him that. Even though it’s only been a few weeks since…he wants to say dating, but he’s scared what TK will do if he brings up that word-since they started doing this-he likes the pet name on TK’s lips.
Carlos smooths his hands up TK’s arms where they’re resting on the pillow to grip his hands. He hears TK’s breath hitch as he does so. “This. Everytime I take you to bed, your arms always find their way in this position. It’s like…do you not want to touch me, TK?”
TK blinks rapidly at him in confusion. “What? Carlos, no! I love touching you!” A mischievous glint appears in his eyes. “You know I do.” Carlos rolls his eyes at TK’s not so subtle innuendo. “I just…” TK closes his eyes, sighs. Carlos moves off from TK to sit next to him on the bed, thinking that whatever words he needs to get out, the space might be helpful. “I really like to be held down during sex,” he finally whispers. He’s not looking at Carlos, but Carlos is looking at TK.

Okay the actual snippet (from Does It Get Better, obviously)
The sound of the clippers stopping signaled the most dangerous moment. Hunter had to hold his breath and bite the inside of his lip just to keep himself from getting lost in the moment as Kevin’s hands started raking through his hair. Positioning the strands where they were supposed to go. Where Kevin thought they were supposed to go. Where Kevin thought they looked good. It took everything in Hunter’s power to keep himself from letting his eyelids flutter shut and melting underneath Kevin’s touch. He managed. Just barely. But he managed.
Wrote this fucking yesterday too I haven’t been doing TOO bad.

When Steve had told Eddie that he was babysitting the youngest Wheeler, Eddie’s not sure what he expected to find when he arrived at the Wheeler’s for Hellfire that afternoon. Maybe Steve reading a magazine while Holly played. Sure, maybe even Steve coloring with the young girl. He never expected this. This being Steve sat on the floor stuffed animals all around him, and Steve humming along with Once Upon a Dream while Sleeping Beauty played in the background, and to top it all off Holly was playing with his hair—when did Steve let any of the kids play with his hair? He was definitely glad he decided to stop by the Wheeler’s extra early to “set up for Hellfire.”
Holly looked up from her patient victim and smiled at Eddie. “We’re playing salon,” she said as if that explained the sight before him. Eddie looked at Steve’s hair: it was littered with butterfly clips and was that glitter?
“Stevie looks awfully pretty. I think you did a great job,” he told Holly with a grin.
“Wait until you see his face,” she said excitedly before ushering Steve to turn around.
Steve slowly turned to face Eddie, glaring daggers at the other man, as if to say don’t say anything.
Eddie took a moment to take in the sight before him. Sure, there were smudges of pink all over Steve’s face, and glitter all over the place, but at that moment Steve had never looked more beautiful.
“You definitely did a wonderful job, mini Wheeler.” He said before turning his attention back to Steve. “You’ve never looked better, Princess.”
Holly suddenly jumped up excitedly. “Oooh I know what he needs,” she exclaimed before running away.

WIP Wednesday!
Tagged by the epic @stobinesque ✨
THE RULES
In a reblog (or new post w/ rules attached), post up to five (5) filenames of your WIPs; not titles, file names.
Post a snippet from one of them. Snippet must be words you wrote in the last 7 days. We’re posting progress here. If you haven’t made any, go make some and come back to post!
After you’ve posted, people can send you an ask with one of your file names. You must then write 3 sentences in that file. If the filename is one you can’t share from (for example, an event fic), write 3 sentences on it anyway, and then 3 more on another to share.
That’s it! You can invite others to join in, or just post. If you tag me in your post, I will send you an ask request!
WIPS
1. Steve Henderson AU
2. The Claudia Henderson Canon Character Masterlist
3. Dustin season 3 Funko (tiny!)
4. Chrissy Cunningham Funko
no direct tags today because anxiety is nibbling on my forearm as we speak but if you wanna do this consider this your official tag!! 🕺
SNIPPET
on today’s episode of The Steve Henderson Au, I finally figured out i want to actually start the fic! Im basically writing alongside canon for the first few chapters to establish everything and then the plot diverges after the season 2 finale (before epilogue). So this snippet is timed around episode 3 of season 2, after the Halloween fight and confrontation during gym but before meeting Dustin
Tommy kept grilling him for “breaking up” with Nancy, verbally poking him with a stick trying to get him to do something and especially in the showers where he couldn’t escape the conversation. He seemed obsessed with getting some sort of reaction out of him for it, insulting everything and anything about the relationship to get a rise. It wasn’t fun by any means, but Tommy was at least clueless enough about their past year together to have anything really solid or true to work with. They didn’t even actually break up yet, they’re just fighting right now. Meaning every attempt at a sad bachelor jab missed by a mile.
And thank god for that.
Though hearing “breakup" over and over didn’t exactly make him feel better about where they were going, he wasn’t about to correct him and let him know where it actually hurt.
The rest of his classes played out like the first two. During lunch he hid in one of the private rooms in the library to avoid another conversation with Nancy. He needed time to think, work through all this shit, and cool down.
He has a right to be angry, he thinks. It's normal for couples to say i love you. It's normal to want your girlfriend to say she loves you. It shouldn't be so hard to say it, even just to lie and say it to get him to drop it. She couldn't even lie about it.
And she doesn't remember that night at all. She remembered him being mad about being drunk, like he wasn't just trying to be the responsible one for a change and keep her from a blackout.
And she thought he took her home. Did she mistake Jonathan for him while drunk too? Its like last year all over again except he fuckin asked for it this time.
Maybe she just hesitated because she really doesn't remember anything. And it's her first time drinking so she's confused and not used to having whole hours missing. Maybe that wasn’t her playing dumb face but her actually confused, caught off-guard face.
Or maybe she just didn't care.
He just wanted the day to be over.

Prompt 10 - The Ghost of You
Note: This is actually a little sneak peek of the next chapter of Curses.  Have fun! ;)
-
June 11, 2960; The Last City, Earth
Azra saw them everywhere in the systems.  All of the filenames for Io had been changed- they now read Ayooo_Pat_Map or Scan_Requests_Ayooo_YEAR.  She found Cayde’s extensive list of People To Not Put On Patrol Together (and his even more extensive list of People To Try And Set Up Together).   Tallulah Fairwind’s Ghost had started a Guide to the Feeding and Care of the Hunter Vanguard- each subsequent Vanguard’s Ghost had given updates or funny little anecdotes.  Charin and Sundance’s entries gave Spark a sharp pang of his own grief.
It was too much.  Azra took a snapshot of the database as it was, then reset it to its base template.  She stared at it for a long time- a fresh slate, she thought to herself.  (A petty act of destruction, seeking vengeance against the office.)
Then she got to work.  She updated all of the maps, adding in ones the official Vanguard archive didn’t have- defunct Fallen dens, an incomplete survey of Crota’s Throne World, dozens of baren icy objects in the Kuiper Belt that nobody really cared about.  She revived the old list of People To Not Put On Patrol Together and added a few of her own observations.
Then she sat back and looked at it all again like she was surveying a freshly-built camp.  Spark was rooting through his own personal files, looking for anything else that might be of use.
He found something, something that made him sad.  A second later, he uploaded a plain text document.  It hadn’t been updated in almost a year.  Azra opened it in curiosity.
Of all the inventions Humanity has made, the dry-erase board really is the most remarkable.
Oh.  It was the list of bad jokes she’d kept for Andal.  She’d started it before the Vault.  She always worried Andal would get bored sitting alone all day and resolved to keep a cache of corny humor for the off times.  She still added to it on occasion.
Spark shuffled through the old Vanguard Hunter database and pulled up another file- a list of bad jokes Andal had kept.  There were plenty in there she’d sent him, but he’d made a subsection for new ones to send back to her.
Azra looked back at the old database and saw it- the home Andal had made for himself, away from all of them.  The home Cayde had made.  The silly filenames Andal had made as a secret joke- the ones that Cayde had kept.  The ridiculously overcomplicated patrol scheduling system- clearly a work of Andal’s genius.  The giant ‘MISC’ folder Cayde had thrown all of his documents in- because of course he knew where they were, even if he had to root around for twenty minutes to actually find them, telling him to clean up just made him stubborn.
There was more than just the two of them- Ainsel Leagh had started a tally of Consensus topics (they really liked talking about infrastructure repair, it seemed).  Kauko Swiftriver apparently had a hand for drawing- there were caricatures of almost every Tower figure of his time.  Caliban-8 had left a series of images- first a few snapshots of a ceiling somewhere, then a progression of half-melted knives sprouting out of the center beam until the thing bristled like a porcupine.  There were dozens of edits and compilations of clips pulled straight from the Vanguard Feed.  There were lists of ideas for Dares and plausible excuses to get out of obligations.  There was a trove of reviews for the various eateries in the City.
It was a dozen voices calling out from the void of the past, saying I was here.  I mattered.  I wasn’t just another cog in the machine.  You aren’t, either.
Azra reinstated the old database, then went about re-doing her map updates and additions.
She sat and looked at it again.  It was… better.  Not right.  Not even good- there was still too much of them in it, it hurt her heart to look at.  But it was better.

Step by step instructions to Utilize the Image Watermark
High level photography has decidedly made taking pictures and moving them onto anything individual locales people stay aware of way less complex. Unfortunately, it has in like manner made unapproved use of cutting edge photographs far more direct. This then requires extra confirmation of your electronic pictures, and you can use this by using the Watermark maker for photos.
Clearly, you can say that you don't really need to use watermarking considering the way that you can basically restrict the entry of individuals overall to your photographs. Sadly, this isn't adequate in any capacity. Right when you stay aware of one individual to the next correspondence objections, you might actually encounter a software engineer modifying your record, considering the way that it is incredibly easy to hack into such records. Exactly when they draw near enough to your record, they furthermore get to the photographs that you have taken care of there. Therefore, they can anyway do anything they want with your photographs. However, with watermarking, induction to your photographs transforms into all the more secure. The extraordinary thing about watermarking is that it includes an extraordinarily fundamental cycle. You don't really have to do anything bewildered to protect your photos. You ought to just find programming extraordinarily planned to watermark your photographs and you are good to go.
What is obviously better is that there are so many watermarking applications that you can find Online. These you can download onto your PC with several snaps of your mouse. By far most of these applications, in any case, go with an irrelevant cost that you would have to pay after you go through the spare energy for testing. Make an effort not to push unreasonably anyway considering the way that the expense range for these applications is just by and large $20 to $30. The expense for your item depends upon the components that you would have to have.
At the point when you have picked which programming to get for your watermarking needs, the accompanying stage is to pick which watermark to use. In spite of the way that you can choose to include various watermarks for your photographs, it is more smart to use a specific one all through. Thusly, you can anyway keep your photographs as facilitated as they should be.
Nonexclusive text watermark
This kind of watermark has no association with your picture or to your character, being regular in nature. you can use "Test" for your watermark, or even "Demo". This is basically to show the general populace that your photos are not accessible to anybody.
Express text watermark
As the name proposes, this watermark is more unambiguous in nature. you can use your name or the genuine filename, to make it significantly more unambiguous. You can in like manner choose to use the name of your site, as this would go about as additional advancement in isolation.
Copyright watermark
By overlaying "Copyright" generally around your fundamental picture, you can effectively convey something explicit out to the public that your photographs are safeguarded and that these should not be used under any circumstance without your assent. This is the most ideal sort of watermark among the many sorts.Knowing how to use the picture watermark will doubtlessly help you a ton in defending your photographs from unapproved use. Essentially hold tight to these tips with the objective that you will be coordinated even more as required.

7 DAYS TO DIE VALMOD STEAM MOD
7 DAYS TO DIE VALMOD STEAM UPDATE
As such, rejoice, Valmod Overhaul is currently A16.1 compatible.
7 DAYS TO DIE VALMOD STEAM UPDATE
Trust me, I hate being away from my PC as much as you all hate waiting for Valmod updates, Im sure.Įither way as A16.1 did not actually change much from the experimental build I managed to get some time to update it. Hopefully come next month things will settle down and I will be able to resume. I won't go into details venting about all my life drama and headache as of late, suffice to say that its been a bit out of my control and for the time being I wont be able to keep up with posts and the like. Real-life circumstances have made it rather tedious and impractical to use my computer. 7 DAYS TO DIE VALMOD STEAM MOD
If you need the whole one please let me know.Īnother question thats been racking my mind is do I need to use another launcher? I cant remember if when downloading this mod there was a seperate 7 days to die launcher that ran the mod. Here is the Output.Log part with the errors. Im getting some small errors, on a data cap so dont want to waste data if easily fixable but ive tried looking everywhere. I stopped playing for a few months and today opted into the 15.2 beta then the 15.1 beta to play my save game instead of updating to A16. I have overhaul and the Horde add on for more difficulty. I have an old Valmod mod pack, from January, so I believe 15.1 if I am not mistaken. Hey, stupid question and I apologize for asking here, if theres a better place to ask just point me in the direction!

NULLDC PLUGINS PACK DOWNLOAD TV
NULLDC PLUGINS PACK DOWNLOAD DOWNLOAD
You can switch to the PuruPuru Dreamcast controller to get things going for you.Īudio and graphics work amazingly well for most games with minor glitches in textures for some of the games. There is a high level of game compatibility, but we cannot term it as perfect since it is not possible with limited resources and time. It was difficult to get hands-on the working file(compressed) of Chankast, and the one available abundantly on the Internet is corrupted. Chankast was the first Dreamcast emulator to run commercial games developed for the Sega console. There are two CDROM plugins along with an input plugin by ElSemi. In the controller department, 4 connected devices are supported along with the VMS support for cartridges. On top of that, there is an external input plugin developed by Darkman, which can be used for better controller compatibility. When you open the emulator for the first time, you will be greeted with a message to load your BIOS. Keep your BIOS ready for loading into the emulator.
NULLDC PLUGINS PACK DOWNLOAD TV
Two TV composites, VGA and RGB components are supported by the now-defunct emulator. Talking about controllers, you can set upto 4 devices, including Sega controller, light gun, keyboard, and mouse.Īsk for a feature-rich emulator, and DEmul is your answer. You will need plugins for graphics and audio to run, apart from the mandatory BIOS load up. Talking about features, there is an option for multiplayer, all thanks to Netplay support. Similar to nullDC, this Dreamcast emulator also has Maple device manager to manage all the inputs such as controllers, light guns, etc. For the default controller, there is the PAD support whose plugin also needs to be installed.Īpart from being one of the best Dreamcast emulators out there, it also has support for Naomi, Atomiswave, Hikaru, and few other less relevant consoles. Makaron is all about playing your favorite Dreamcast games on PC. There are no fancy shenanigans involved in playing games. Load your BIOS, game, and you are ready to play. Makaron is based on Reicast, so expect a similar level of game compatibility.īefore we move one, we have to tell you about the general support for Xbox 360 controller, as offered by virtually all other Sega console emulators. If this is the only thing that effects I'm willing to deal with it as long as I can figure out the other problem, lol.We can play all around and come back to the king. I feel like a total idiot :/ but feel like I'm getting somewhere from your help.ĭeleted dc.flash and Demul did run and created the file. I'm saying the VMS file name does not create, so nothing is there to choose for any of the slots. I tried it several times but nothing seems to happen - looks like someone else on some forums posted about the same problem but no one had an answer. So when I click create nothing is supposed to happen? Because it didn't do anything in the folder or the actual game. Sorry for being vague and indecisive, but it's been a really long time since I've had to think about this stuff. If not, then you need a proper Dreamcast flash file present, and Demul then creates dc.flash based on the data in the other flash file. If so, then Demul creates dc.flash based on the info it finds in your BIOS files. Just delete dc.flash and see if Demul agree to run without that file present. Like a I said earlier, click OK, and see that the VMS' filename shows in the VMS Manager under Port A. If you just created and formatted one, of course the list is going to be empty. That "list" you speak of lists the VMS data that's been saved onto the VMS (that is, game saves).
NULLDC PLUGINS PACK DOWNLOAD DOWNLOAD
I can't seem to find it on it's own so I guess I'm going to have to download another pack just to get it :/ Am I doing something wrong? Trust me I just spent 10 minutes looking on Google before asking, lol. When I go to VMS Manager>Edit>Create, then I type a name and hit Okay it does nothing. If the Dreamcast menu always asks to reset date and time, your Flash file (dc.flash under nvram directory) is corrupt. Then use Demul VMS Manager to create a new VMS file for use (Edit -> Create, give name, Save, Format, OK). Make sure that the is at least one VMS set up for Port A in Plugin settings. "Not enough memory block space" message in-game means that the VMU/VMS has not been either hooked up or formatted.

How to BULK download from Ao3
With this method I queued thousands of fics for download in just minutes. (also works for FF.net) [Note: fics will be saved in HTML format. kind of ugly but all text, formatting, and pictures are saved to your hard drive!]
YOU WILL BE ABLE TO QUICKLY QUEUE FOR DOWNLOAD:
All your bookmarks
All the fics by an author
All the fics from a search
Basically you can download all the fics linked in a page
Note: Due to AO3 servers, there’s about a 5-10 minute wait between loading about 30 pages/tabs of a search, but with 30 tabs open you can add 600 fics to your download queue at a time.
YOU WILL NEED:
Google Chrome
Simple Mass Downloader (Free chrome extension)
Detailed instructions with pictures below the cut!
Okay, first, have Chrome and the Downloader extension installed, and follow the instruction from the Downloader (make sure "Ask where to save each file before downloading" option in Chrome Download Settings is NOT checked.) then follow these steps:
STEP 1 - Open your tabs - (do NOT open the fics)
Get all the fics you want in one place, so either use a filtered search, your bookmarks/marked for later page, your favorite author’s works page, etc. This downloader finds the links on a page and downloads those links, so you want links to all the fics you want in one place. I’m going to use my Bookmarks page.
Tumblr media
If there are multiple pages (I have almost 200 pages of bookmarks) open as many tabs as you can (usually around 30 tabs) until you get the “retry later” message. (This is an Ao3 security measure and also flood control so you don’t overload the site) Make sure all the tabs are loaded!! If the page isn’t actually loaded you won’t download anything from that page!
Tumblr media
NOTE: Not necessary but it’s better if the window only has tabs with your fic selection because the downloader will pull links from every open tab in the window
STEP 2 - Using the Downloader
Open the downloader by clicking on the puzzle piece to the right of the address bar and selecting “simple mass downloader”
Tumblr media
Make sure you’re on the “Resource List” tab and click the squares to the “Load Page Links” button (circled in red) to drop down the “collect links from open tabs” box. This allows you to download links from all the open tabs (or to the right/left/etc). At this point, don’t add any filters (this feature is kinda new so it’s a little glitchy) just leave everything else blank and click “Start” to load all the links from all the tabs.
Tumblr media
This will load something like 75 pages of links and close to 15000 "items” which we will begin to filter.
Step 3 - Filtering
First we’re going to filter OUT links we don't need. At the bottom of the window there is a space that says “Text filter.” We’re going to start by typing “comments” to filter out the links to the works’ comments. Click the menu button (three lines at the upper right corner) and select “remove filtered items.” This just removed 585 of 14805 links!

Now do the same thing for these filters to remove links we don’t need:
Comments
Kudos
Bookmarks
Collections
Chapters
Now we’re ready for our last filter: “org/works/” this will select only the links to fics! Don’t filter this out! Hit the square that selects all items (”2″ in the picture below) and deselect the first 4 items because those are not fics. If we did this right, as you scroll down you will see only links to fics!

Finally we’re ready to save!
Step 4 - Save Them
Okay, to save our fics we want to specify what kind of filename they have and where they will be saved. First, click the “{ }” button on the bottom left and select “Link text.” This will make the file name into the title of the fic. Next, name your directory (3 in the pic below). This will create a sub-folder in your “downloads” folder with that name and all the fics will be downloaded into that folder. I named it “Ao3 Bookmarks” but you can call it whatever you want.
Finally, hit the “+” button on the bottom right to add all these fics to the download queue!

Step 5 - Download!
Last step! Now remember how we could only load about 30 tabs on Ao3 at once? Well, it also means we can only download about 50 fics at a time. Yes, this sucks but this is going to be the case no matter what method you use to download from Ao3, that’s just the way Ao3 servers operate. So this part gets a little tedious. luckily, html downloads super fast, and the list is saved in your queue.
Switch to the “Download List” tab. All the links we just added have been sent here, and if you did it right you should see several pages of fiction titles ready to be downloaded!
(optional) Now just to be safe, in case chrome crashes or if you have to leave to do something else, hit “select all,” go to the menu and click “export selected items to file” and save the file so that you can import the list and continue downloading if you get interrupted, and don’t have to start over from the beginning.
Now hit “select all” again to de-select them and select about 50 titles (click one, scroll down and shift + click). Now hit “Start Selected.” You can also hit the play arrow button and they will download until the Ao3 limit, at which point you can click pause.

The first three titles are being downloaded, you can see the progress bar. they’re small files and should go quite fast. The dark blue arrows are up next to be downloaded. Green checkmark means the file was successfully downloaded (in theory, see note below) and the yellow “!” means that the download failed. You’ll get the download failed indicator when you’ve reached the limit for the number of downloads for Ao3 and will have to wait.
Note! If the file has no extension (no “.html”) in the folder and/or the icon is just a blank page (instead of a page with your default browser icon on it) you will have to add the file extension manually. Idk why this happens. Go to the folder and just add “.html” to the end of the title. You can also select multiple files and add the file extension at once.

I’ll be honest. This downloading part can get kinda glitchy
TIP! Once a fic is successfully downloaded, remove it from the download list! Otherwise it will sometimes get confused and download the fic again and you’ll end up with duplicates.
As long as you only try to download about 50 fics at a time and wait for Ao3 to let you back in you shouldn’t have too much trouble!
I know it’s not the most perfect solution, but due to Ao3′s server limitations there really isn’t a better solution. This is the only bulk download method for Ao3 that I’ve found that allows you do download hundreds to thousands of fics relatively easily.
Good luck! And play around with the downloader, there are lots of other functions and uses!
