Would A Galarian Farfetch’d Be A Good Pet?
Tumblr media
Would the Galarian variant of farfetch’d be a good pet? While their score says no, it’s hard to make a definitive statement on whether or not they would be a good pick for a lot of owners. This is always a hard thing for fighting-type pokémon, especially if we don’t have a lot of data about their wild behavior. But I’m getting ahead of myself…
Galarian farfetch’d are heftier than the more common garden-variety farfetch’d. When you look at their weight stat, Galarian farfetch’d are almost three times as heavy! However, their height is the exact same. This makes me wonder how much of the weight increase can be chopped up to their larger signature leeks that they are always seen carrying around. While we do know that Galarian farfetch’d have evolved stronger bodies in order to adapt to the larger leeks they find in this region (Shield), and thus they probably are a bit heavier, it is probably more likely that this weight comes from their leeks. None of this makes that big of a difference in their score, however, because this increased size is by no means too large to be a house pet.
Speaking of their leeks: you need to be prepared to spend a lot of money, unless you happen to live in the Galar region. Since this variant of farfetch’d have only ever been found in the Galar Region, we can assume that this larger variant of leek comes from there as well. If Galarian farfetch’d have similar needs to garden-variety farfetch’d, they will feel that they need a leek to live (Farfetch’d - Diamond/Pearl/Platinum). You’ll need to purchase, import, or raise large leeks in order to make sure your pet is never without their beloved weapon. Costs, both of money and time, could really build up.
Beyond their wielding of leeks as weapons, there isn’t much data about the wild behavior of Galarian farfetch’d. They are well-known to be brave warriors, fearlessly rushing into battle against formidable enemies (Sword), but that’s all we really know. Do they attack humans? Who’s to say. If they did, being fighting-type pokémon, they know what they’re doing in a fight. From Rock Smash to Brick Break, Leaf Blade to Brave Bird, Galarian farfetch’d are a force to be reckoned with. I mean, sure, there’s limits to how badly a leek could hurt you, but in the hands of such a strong and skilled pokémon you could get pretty badly injured. All that being said, we can’t really make a judgement about their aggression towards humans, so it’s hard to give them a hard danger label.
Overall, it’s hard to say whether or not a Galarian farfetch’d would be a good pet. It may be expensive to upkeep their leek, and they have some pretty formidable combat capabilities, but we don’t know anything about how they get along with humans. The more common variant of farfetch’d may be a better choice in a lot of cases.
