Hey everyone, this is my first time coming on here like this besides posting anons. It's just I've been talking to some of you (particularly OC pre-dom rpers out there) and I just wanted to make a smol PSA for those following you involving resource reblogging, interacting, and reblogging one's aesthetics <3

So here it is:

MINA'S PSA FOR THOSE FOLLOWING OC PRE-DOM WRITERS/ROLEPLAYERS:

It is important to familiarize yourself with the OC you plan to write with. The person who created the OC, put a lot of effort into developing the character and they may have important information that could either benefit or hinder your thread. It is not ideal to enter a thread without any knowledge of the OC. Additionally, if the mun of the OC perceives that you didn't care enough to learn about their character, they may drop the thread entirely. So in hindsight, just read up on the OC. It'll help so much.

Do NOT, and I repeat do NOT just reblog an aesthetic someone catered SPECIFICALLY to their OC and slap your own OC muse all over said aesthetic with ZERO credit, interaction, a follow back, etc. This is beyond rude and could really upset the person you reblogged this from. No one wants to be accused of stealing now do they?

If you are only using an OC pre-dom rper for their memes, please refrain from doing so. You can either send them a meme in return for their efforts or avoid reblogging directly from them altogether. It can be challenging for OC pre-dom players to put themselves out there, and it is discouraging when their time is wasted by someone being impolite and simply reblogging from them and clogging up their activity.

Just because they mainly write OCS does NOT make their characters any lesser than canons. Remember: all canons were once OCS to start off with. So, show some human decency and respect a fellow mun/writer. They're trying their best and just want to make friends too.

Please show appreciation for their creative efforts by liking their ooc posts, headcanons, send asks on anon, etc. If you like them, and enjoy what they are doing interact with them! Otherwise, how will they know their efforts are not in vain?

just an fyi, and it feels like it needs to be said here: your blog is your own space and you should be able to say whatever the fuck you want. if you’re sad? vent. get sad. maybe put it under a cut, definitely tag it, but get sad. if you feel like you need someone to talk to? drop a freaking message about how you’re feeling like you could use a buddy, or anything randomly engaging. if you’re having a hard time, you should feel safe and okay to talk about it in your own space. we’re writers and we’re people and while there’s a lot to be said for how engagement outside of oneself is necessary in rp (and really really needs to improve), i think there’s a lot that must be said about people reaching out to others. it’s become so solitary here — the whole ‘reblog from source’ thing when it comes to shit like about and musings is absurd. the whole refusing to like things is ridiculous. yes, curate your space, that’s important, but curating your space into a studio apartment only you live in doesn’t make this a community anymore, it makes it a studio apartment you live in.

just be yourself here. do whatever you want. but i’m always saying: remember you’re not alone, and don’t let yourself feel that way.

#ooc. o kaptain. #[this is illogically worded and after an argument I’m already upset but I just felt like this has to be put here. it’s been sitting on my #brain for so long and it’s something i just wanted to discuss. the way the rpc has become not even an echo chamber just… a shitty ny #apartment only one person lives in that can fit your fridge and your bedroom in the same room. the way literal fandoms have divided each #other through nothing but massive senses of entitlement and so much gatekeepy fucking language. it’s exhausting to watch this happen #literally all because i have no idea where interaction went and yes I’ve been virtually inactive for months now but. it absolutely isn’t for #lack of trying to come back. it’s hugely due to a lack of interaction whenever I reach out and then the feeling like I’m being either #entertained or dismissed. this is a social space and we’re people and everybody just needs to recognize that. like. last week my introverted #broski started discussing how as he’s older he feels loneliness more tangibly but he hates people and i looked right at him and said …yeah #dude. that’s natural. we’re humans. we need each other to live. we need spaces we create and communities we make. but like. there need to be #interactive people in those spaces. we’re social creatures. i love you guys and this is a ramble but… it’s been on my mind awhile. and #frankly? feels kinda good to finally speak my mind.]

In case you need to hear it tonight:

If Fanon goes nuts over a concept, that doesn’t make it the only ideas allowed to exist, and it certainly doesn’t make it the “smartest” or the best anything. It just means a crowd attaches to ONE idea, and bullies every other idea out of the way, because they are threatened by other concepts due to their own immaturity, jealousy, and selfishness. Don’t let them gaslight and gatekeep you into thinking they are superior. This discourages a healthy, varied fandom and squishes creativity, open discussions and harmony in its tracks. Which.....is something people who can’t think for themselves, want.

Fandom doesn’t own the media they hive-mind over. Your take, your opinion, your ships, or just your preference for canon over fanon, is VALID.

Even if the artist is amazing. Even if the writer has lots of follows. Even if it seems like it’s 5 to 1 on what everyone gushes over. Even if “they” deem your take illegitimate or terrible because you don’t ship or headcannon what “everyone else” seems to be blindly salivating over.

YOU MATTER.

“They” are actually a drop in a bucket, in real life.

The MAJORITY of fans keep to themselves and talk privately about their takes, because they don’t want drama and they just want to enjoy their favorite media without the baying and chest beating.

One more thing: People that fixate on popular fanon ideas 99% of the time, burn out on the media in question after a year or two. That leaves the ride-or-die fans to themselves for years to come. Wait it out. The worst and most toxic people in ALL fandoms, are only into a media as long as it’s current and “popular.”
