don't mind me, just thinking about how in every other graphic novel cover, the d20 is in the air, bouncing away from them, just out of reach, almost mocking them as it determines their fates. but for the suffering game, taako is on his knees, front and center, pinning it to the ground, umbra staff at the ready. has he got a fuckin' idea for you.

So downside, accidentally had Jurassic park shenanigans spoiled for me, but upside!
Greygold was able to use that foresight to treat Lae'zel to some Turok Fun.
I can only surmise that said foresight is what Greygold occasionally picks up from their reliable scouting familiar raven, Quothe.

Danny Phantom doesn’t want to be king.
And the Observants also don’t want him to be king.
Frankly, very VERY few people want him to be king, dead or alive.
But opening the sarcophagus, even if it’s closed NOW, disrupted some magic protections. Until those can be fixed, summoning spells need to be answered by SOMEONE. Not all of summons, just like—once a month or so. Because if they don’t let that power outlet happen, all of those summon magics build up and suddenly Pariah Dark reigns again. Answering the summon basically dispels the built up magic, like opening a dam.
Again, Danny doesn’t WANT to do this either, but everyone else involved is a bad choice. He won’t even be named prince, because THEN that implies he COULD be king. He needs a title, of some kind, a position in the court, no matter how tenuous, so he can do the thing. Something where no one in their right or even WRONG mind would think to try to kill him for the position or try to marry him or something equally annoying to deal with.
So.
He becomes the Ghost Court Jester.
He even gets a fancy little outfit upgrade when he’s summoned, all black and white bell hats and shoes, a stupid little ruffle collar and black parachute pants, even face paint with a tiny dot of glowing neon green at the tip of his nose. The works. Better yet, if he hasn’t been ‘unsummoned’, his human form is just the exact same costume with swapped colors. He can change into his normal outfits, but until that circle has been disrupted, the next summon, or the next full or new moon, he’s stuck into the outfit when he first transforms from either form.
The Phantom Jester, which is a title more intimidating than Danny appears to be if we are to be honest, cracks jokes and never, EVER takes the summons seriously.
“Listen, I just had to get my hours in and it’s the last day of the lunar month, you got lucky I came at all.”
“I got the position by virtue of not wanting to go to Time Jail for a crime I technically didn’t commit and technically probably won’t but, well, eyes are the beholder of the grudge or something else equally cryptic to make you mad.”
“Is this a slumber party? … do you have cake? Bummer. Well, enjoy the bleeding walls then.”
“Whether I help you or not is entirely dependent on how well of a run down you can give me on this book I have to read that I have not at all touched.”
“Explain the reason in three sentences or less. I suggest less. And if it’s stupid I’m hitting you—oh you think this circle can contain me? Haha. It won’t.”
“Is that chicken blood? Why?? What did the chickens do to you?”
There are props in his costume but he literally never knows what he’s gonna pull out of his sleeves. Danny can’t even do a balloon animal and knows exactly zero card tricks, which would be more of an issue if the cards weren’t the size of a dinner plate. He barely even juggles and he’s honestly probably just utilizing his rarely-used telekinetic powers, but he does give people flowers if they haven’t been a total jerk. And if those flowers are like, rare and have seeds for propagation, well… he literally wouldn’t know. No, really, he doesn’t. He gets summoned by at least two ecology departments and he has no idea why, I mean, if he had a nickel—
He also had pies and is NOT afraid to use them.

(by your doctor I don't necessarily mean who you think is the best character, or who had the most well-written arc, or even your favourite. More like, which one is the most important to you? Which one comes to mind when you think of 'The Doctor'?)
Feel free to explain your choice in the tags!

I have to way I'm a bit surprised by all the hate charles gets and all the support carlos gets
I used to think charles was more popular
I guess when it comes to Fandom he does have a bigger one, but I think general audiences seems to support carlos more
Maybe it's underdog narrative idk. Like charles is constantly called spoiled, brat, whiny etc whenever he says ANYTHING that isn't super nice, while carlos can bitch as much as he want and barely gets called out
Fandom is always a bubble. I'd say the top two drivers in fandom are probably Charles, Max, and Lando because they're the ones that are popular with younger audiences. It's certainly not true outside. Sure, there's an RPF to fandom, but I think it's also worth noting as well if you're in F1 fandom, you're probably a more avid viewer of the sport than most casual fans, so things like Max's current domination are made more interesting by knowing the ins and outs of his journey, and it's easier to reject anti-Charles viewpoints because when you watch a drive like Suzuka in real time and look at the data afterwards, you understand why the past four WDCs think him generational, and why Carlos is a GOOD driver, indisputably, but has a deficit of skill in comparison to Charles which is masked with luck.
Also ultimately, it's a difference in what type of PR sells to different generations as well. Charles has carefully cultivated quite a strong parasocial relationship with a very loyal fanbase mainly comprising of the countries of Italy and Monaco and younger fans–he does this through playing into inside jokes online with his fans, making us feel like we have a 'special' understanding with him by liking certain tweets, or using certain emojis, or using pictures for his instagram that sneakily reflect a piece of online discourse that happened on a race weekend. Carlos has gone for the more traditional media approach of an underdog narrative to gain sympathy, but he doesn't have the same legion of loyal fans as Charles and makes no effort to build the same fan backchannels that Charles does, which is why I think that Charles, ultimately, will win the PR game. The support of traditional media is fickle, but the lecfosi would follow Charles into hell if asked. It's why Charles knows ventures like LEC or his music will succeed, wheras can the same be said for Carlos outside of Spain?

biggest disconnect in pathologic's reception has kind of always been a divide between "patho is driven by mechanics" and "patho is driven by story" camps where opinions only ever come from one of these extremes... around p1's development and release the developers considered it exclusively a survival challenge sim, not a game marketed for its story (despite story representing a huge fraction of the time and thought put into it). In The Society Of Dead Poets goes into so much detail about this. and it WAS a stunning technical work under the circumstances, but the complex story was what gave the franchise cult appeal, or at least enough so for it to get a sequel... reviews from the period tend to go along the lines of "this game looks and plays like shit but it's extremely thought-provoking". there's a little to be said about the mainstream view of a "Gamer" in 2005 and what they would be interested in marketing-wise not tracking with story games yet; anyway, the one-dimensionality here was consistent with the studio's approach to games as a whole (cf BoneHouse.ppt).
so IPL's perception of their work was what informed p2's priorities, which turned out to be A Way Better Survival Challenge at the expense of things like characters having complex motivations (expansion on this has been omitted; iykyk), and they did an incredible job with that & basically perfected what they had been going for mechanically. which created this weird divide where p2 fans think 1 isn't worth playing because it's less engaging as a gaming experience, and p1 fans (me included, to be clear) see 2's story changes as a spit in the face of everything that made the series work. like, neither of these are fundamentally incorrect, but they refer to completely non-overlapping paradigms of engaging with the material. when hopefully it can be agreed that a Video Game is comprised of Both a narrative aspect and an interactive aspect, and that they need to work together to create the player's transformative experience (again, premise of BoneHouse.ppt).
Anyway. that helps explain a lot of hbomb's stance on the franchise, particularly that he can endorse patho2 without comment as an ostensibly leftist youtuber when even the most cursory playthrough is enough to let players in on its gleeful centering of ecofascism... that game's representation of colonial relations as an unfixable divide employing the racist trope of reciprocal violence, its obsession with maintaining status quo, and its completely tasteless approach to MMIW are all elements of Story and thus all secondary to p2's huge improvements on the survival system. in the same vein, his discussion of p1's changeling's route is limited to the constant reputation decrease and the repeated quests because those are the only mechanical features introduced over the previous routes, even while clararoute text is fundamental to understanding most characters... his video isn't like Bad for getting the interactive experience p1 would present to you, but it sucks for engaging with the story because it's not about the story. and unfortunately, on discussion posting websites, we do usually post about story

OH YEA BTW SINCE THE VAS DECIDED TO GET EXTRA SILLY FOR MGAFS:
Earth's VA clarified (very passionately and consistently) that Earth DID NOT DIE from Bloodmoon that was a MISTAKE from Sun or Moon's VA (I can't remember which 😭), technically the old body died because it was broken beyond repair but she herself was perfectly okay!! So both her and Sun are untouched by the family theme of dying. She was just badly injured!
She also said she wants it to be canon that Earth can do a backflip! :]
KC's VA touched on the question of "why didn't it fight back against Bloodmoon?" and it was simply because it didn't care to 💔

Extremely controversial hot take, but I think that people who HATE Bruce but love the Batkids have probably not read very many Batman or Detective Comics titles. Especially ones that are Bruce's POV. (Particularly the sort of "crime of the week" stories, where Bruce isn't in major crisis.)
Listen, Bruce has ProblemsTM. (And Babygirl, me too.) But DC comics writers have some of the same issues that amateur fanfic writers do. Many don't know how to make their main characters sympathetic without making other characters treat them badly. So we get comics where Bruce is suddenly a lot less human than he is in his own titles for the sake of the development of one of the kids. And if that's your only view of Bruce, you're definitely going to be reading comics like "Who the eff put this man in charge of children?!"

Every time I remember that Roxas and Ven wear the same wristband—with the only difference being that Roxas’ has black edges and Ven’s has white edges—it reminds me of the Yin and Yang friendship bracelets.
In Chinese philosophy, Yin and Yang are two halves that together complete wholeness. It’s about how different but complementary forces balance each other to achieve a perfect and harmonious balance.
Yin energy is described as receptive, dark, cool, soft, still, and contemplative. It’s usually associated with someone more laid back and calm, and who may be more introverted. This description fits with Roxas’ personality, and—while his light and darkness are balanced—he described himself as “someone from the dark” in the past. Nobodies are also usually associated with darkness.
Yang energy is described as energetic, expansive and warm, and is usually associated with someone more outgoing and high-energy, which fits well with Ventus, who’s also known for having a heart of pure light.
There are various aspects in their stories that directly contrast each other, like the place where they were born (Daybreak Town and Twilight Town), their upbringing (Ventus being protected and kept out from harm’s way, while Roxas had to fight for all his life), their personality (Ventus is more active and impulsive, while Roxas is more passive and contemplative), and so on.
What I find interesting is that the idea of two halves that together become whole is shown in both Ventus’ and Roxas’ stories, but not with each other. Vanitas and Sora are, respectively, their half. Both pairs had to join in order to find some sort of balance or wholeness, but neither of these unions ended up actually being balanced and harmonious. Willingly or unwillingly, there was always one half who was overwhelming the other.
I wonder if, with each other, Roxas and Ventus can actually find that balance and harmony. They can coexist peacefully, after all—Ventus’ existence never threatened Roxas’, or vice versa, because, while they’re connected, they are and always have been separate beings. Most of all, their personalities complement each other very well, and I’m sure they’d get along great if given the chance to interact.
