Actually….re: the whole we have never gotten a glimpse ever of past crocodile thing….would be SO funny if crocodile’s backstory was just every strawhat’s combined in succession but like the wario bad ending version “a man took me and my brother in when we were extremely small children and THEN sold us out to pirates when he didnt have enough protection money who forced ys to work to buy our way out of slavery THEN my sister pushed me down the stairs and THEN she died and THEN i was taken in by a fishwoman and her apprentice. And THEN she framed me for pirate conspiracy and turned me into the marines—“ etc. etc.
Y'know, I know you're joking, just doing a silly little funny and all
But unironically, on a thematic level this could very well be true
Like One Piece's long running themes include rejection, loss, loneliness, either believing yourself to be unlovable and/or hating yourself while loving others and what all these things can drive a person to do (among many other things)
And these narrative elements come up so often you could make a little bingo card of them and have a fun little game to see how many pop up for each Strawhat and their backstories (Sanji and Robin being the most extreme examples in some ways).
But the thing is that with the Strawhats, most of them manage to find a way to heal through all that trauma either through their mentors, their friends/family, the Strawhats and/or Luffy specifically. They all found a place to call home through Luffy
But Crocodile never did. He doesn't have a place to call home, people to call a family. He's still alone
So like, while Croc's backstory probably isn't all the Strawhats mashed together literally, on that thematic level? Actually, yeah, probably, especially If Crocodad Real. He could just turn out to be an amalgamation of all the Strawhats' trauma combined but with the specific twist he never had anyone come save him from it, what any of the Strawhats could've turned out like had they never met Luffy and went off the deep end

me, thinking that i have at least a base level understanding of botw: :)
blue, about to write a 1,000+ word essay that is going to completely revamp my understanding of the game and interpretation of its events: bada bing bada boom
i dont know how you do it. i am incredibly impressed and using all of this for fic inspiration. keep writing
every time someone asks me how i do this shit i have to regrettably inform them that the real genuine answer is that i am fucking insane. my 2 passions in life are writing and video games and the place where the 2 converge fascinates me to no end and i am that special kind of crazy that is capable of latching onto something and not thinking about anything else for 10 years. so. the only thing i have cared about deeply for the last several years of my life has been the way video games are written and constructed. and zelda is one of the most interestingly constructed franchises i have found to date. these games are just like. the absolute perfect story for my brain to work with and i truly do not know who i would be without them. and i am genuinely incredibly grateful that ive been able to build a platform where people like. CARE about what i have to say and take the time to ask me to think about the games because like. i would be doing it ANYWAY but knowing that there are people who actually read my analysis and appreciate the amount of thought i put into this stuff makes me really happy lol

hi seb good afternoon ily ♡ i hope your day's been good so far :3
Hi hi good afternoon to you as well <33
My day's been alright not much happened tbh my one friend came over like five minutes after I woke up to vent and recharge on the positive vibes of my cat and we did some tests out of boredom and I got declared unwell again but overall that's pretty much it... I should be doing my homework right now but we're supposed to justify the popularity of an author of which we have read exactly one part of one of his stories. Idiotic task if you ask me but oh well I'll just have to pull something out of my sleeves then
I hope your day's been nice so far as well!!! It's morning where you are right now right? I Suppose I should say that I hope your day's gonna be nice then instead <33

Ok so it seems like a lot of characters in your novel die sooner or later. So… which of them survives in the end? If it’s even possible to say; as far as I understood there are several timelines.
[rubs hands together] this is my new favourite ask!!!!!! in the interest of keeping some secrets (esp bc some actual Reader Friends might see this) i will be vaguely dodgy and just compile a list of chars who Survive by the metric that i've never written a death scene for them; so even if an oc is not listed here, i.e. implied Dead, they might still make it thru canon perfectly fine, i just happen to have a dedicated au where they're butchered horrifically. for funsies <3
also only guys listed on the oc site because i genuinely could not tell you who does or doesn't make it thru less figured out story corners [a/s drops onto me like a piano for comedy] LET'S GO !!
chess (courtesy of being part of the moon core, i guess. gets gored pretty bad by gray but is functionally unkillable. faye also heavily considers taking an earnest shot at him in her motd rampage but ultimately chickens out for fear of breaking the universe apart again)
damia :^)
devon (chewtoy for both friend and foe but he makes it thru <3)
eliada (ON THIN ICE. i still think kizuna should eat him once he returns to a/s but as of now i am undecided if he gets any comeuppance for his..... Various Flaws.)
jack (somehow survives attempts on his life by every single soulless, and jumie) speaking of which,
jumie!! destined to outlive her loved ones in any incarnation, with the exception of platinum road where i am,,,,, i am not saying sky actually might....... k*ll h*r, but [i am exited from this thought immediately and always] so she lives by the grace of me being unable to stomach that hypothetical scenario ._.
kizuna (has to showdown avery in llf. after that it's anyone's guess)
LEAH !!!!!! daughter of all time who LIVES. which was not the case in older canon where she succumbed to her illness between seasons but i FOUND A WAY TO SAVE HER. SHE LIVES and that is the only thing that matters 2 me in this entire novel verse ;-;
linn......... fwiw i've written death scenes for her but u know they're little more than fun pastime ventures and never stick. like, getting gray to kill her is her idea of foreplay lmfao (i digress)
noah :^)
don't start thinking any of these bastards are truly safe tho!!!!! (except leah. nothing will ever happen to leah! i'll torch and burn this entire verse before i let her come 2 harm again) <///3

ok. this is me having my usual mandalorian issues lol.
shae vizla saying the mandalorian wars were driven by “greed not righteousness” is such a grotesque misreading of history and like COMPLETELY showing that she doesn’t see the inherent flaws in her own culture.
like. one. the mandalorians were absolutely driven by both. greed was just a side benefit to their main focus. they got to plunder and get tons of resources. but that was just fueled by the violence that was their actual purpose.
before the mandalorian wars, mandalorian culture had stagnated. they had nothing to do that felt significant. they were at least two generations in since having the last major war to fight in (maybe a bit less--i am too lazy atm to see if mandos got involved in Exar Kun). the mandalorians had a young generation trained and ready but who had nothing truly ‘worthy’ to fight.
soooo, they started conquering the outer rim. still seeking challenge, they moved in until they started going toe-to-toe with the Republic. that was a worthy challenge. no mandalorian felt they were wrong in this. none of the mandalorians in kotor1 or kotor2 view themselves as morally wrong for the war they caused, the people they killed--they only regret that they got their asses handed to them. some of them were humbled by that and others just want even more war. they either stuck to mandalorian culture as it was or swapped to the new, easier, culture of self-focused merc work, shedding the ‘honor’ component, more honestly pursuing the violence that is ultimately what mandalorians seek.
obligatory ‘yes the mandalorians were pushed by the true sith into fighting the republic as a test etc etc but that still doesnt really remove how easily their entire culture took up arms as instigators just to do what their culture had bred them to--wage war.
so yeah shae will do nothing to end the violence that fuels everything mandalorians are. which, isn’t surprising considering the era swtor takes place in, but it’s such a glaring flaw to her (and a GOOD one tbh!! this is a good trait!) and it just really illustrates how she really is just a typical mandalorian when the chips fall. her overall dogma is predictable, and hasn’t changed from the mandos at large. she’s a carbon copy of the 'honor’ they had before their fall, and their desire to push for war and violence as a form of testing themselves in combat.
she really is just a return to form.
