the batkids are not allowed around Jason, not cause he kills people or anything, no no, it's cause Bruce let Duke and Steph around him for five minutes and now their prone to spontaneous costume changes and dramatic monologues

can we talk about the katniss/lucy gray parallels (or lack thereof) for a sec?
they're superficially the same, because of the things we talk about all the time: they're both female victors from 12. there are things that come with that culture and background -- the mockingjay, the plants, the songs. those similarities aren't so much between them as people, as individuals -- they're born of coming from the same culture. the most significant thing they share is their resilience; their spirit of resistance and rebellion. their defiance.
but really, all those things they share, only serve to demonstrate just how different they are as individuals (because personality is different from upbringing or values).
we parallel their sarcastic bows, but they're so so different. lucy gray is a performer mockingly curtseying and saying "kiss my ass", where katniss is a hunter who doesn't have time for this society bullcrap.
they both sing the hanging tree, but as i've ranted about, their renditions show how different they are: lucy gray, again, a performer with a spirit unbroken, loud and charming and sassing right to the capitol's face, daring them to defy her, daring them to look away. katniss, again, a hunter, quiet but unyielding, sparking rebellion under the capitol's nose.
they both won their games, but in such different ways. lucy gray charmed the snakes (both literal and in the form of one coriolanus snow), while katniss threw down with weaponry.
lucy gray said look at me, care about me. katniss said fight for me, fight with me.
and so what we see is that they are not at all the same person, but that's what's so important. because it's not just one person or one type of person that puts their foot down and rebels. we don't need a specific kind of Chosen One to light the spark -- anyone can.

Mona's mom is probably in prison and fuck your boundaries, I hope you get brutalized in the future
Those are some bold words for someone who tried to gaslight me with plagiarized words and didn't even have the decency to deny it, even when the server admin from who you stole the paragraph - back from when she was politely warning you about your toxic behavior in dms - has directly confronted you about it.
I know you can't stand losing to the point where you show your worst colors the second anyone disagrees with you (something you've been called out for consistently by multiple people, on top of general rudeness), but this is an L you're just going to have to accept taking lmao.
It was never about Mona's mom or how close to the truth your crude takes were or not, it has always been about your rancid behavior and self-absorbed attitude with which said takes are always presented. You barged into my post and dropped an insulting assumption in the comments about a hypothetical character the post wasn't even about, then made an ass of yourself when I pointed out that it's rude to do that.
The fact that you're completely failing to acknowledge this and instead try to shift the blame - once again - away from you and proceeed to resort to threaten me with violence is just proving that for me.
I don't normally respond to hateful asks like this, but there is also rarely a person that has proven to be as deserving of my ire and being told exactly how much is wrong with them and their behavior as you.
And you hate me because I see through your manipulative bully tactics and call them out plain as day.
Note by the way, please, how not once I have resorted to childish name-calling in this entire post and yet made my distaste for you abundantly clear? That's the difference between me and you.
I understand and acknowledge the risks and consequences of my actions, think and reflect about what I'm saying and how it affects people, how both can and will be used against me if the opportunity presents itself, how to handle it when it does. I will admit when I've made a mistake and do what I can to rectify it, or at least take steps to try and prevent it from happening again in the future. I'm not perfect and I make mistakes, but I at least try to be better.
You don't. You talk shit and get mad when you get hit. Then keep doing the same thing, again and again.
Have you ever stopped to consider that maybe being more observant, honest and mindful will actually get you the kind of validation you crave? And yet you keep tricking, keep manipulating, keep bullying your way through life, to get what you want.
I feel almost sorry for you, honestly. Whoever taught you that that's the way to go has done you dirty, because there's just no way in my mind how anyone as vapid and manipulative as you as her go-to strategy in life would be capable of forming genuine, lasting bonds.

One of the reasons for my string of 'Death rescues Dream and it goes badly wrong stories'
Is to deal with one of Neil's other points. The Endless are not, in fact, trained superheroes. They aren't trained fighters, either. Death has immense raw power but has never really tried to use it in the ways she does, and in the one scenario where it goes off flawlessly there are completely different problems that come from it.
In reality even a complete idiot like Roderick Burgess, gift-wrapped the most blatantly obvious set of wedges and divide and conquer, would be able to make use of them. And in my scenarios he very much does, because even he could see something that blindingly obvious if it was in front of his face, and since Death is the most human-like of the Endless and loving and forgiving to a fault it almost never occurs to her to either lie or just disintegrate him. To any others of her siblings there'd be less of a deal and more 'the beatings will continue until compliance ensues'. With Death, OTOH, she really does act like a human big sister worried about her little brotjher, and that can go very badly in the right circumstances (or the wrong ones).
The flip side of it is that Death's very humanity also means that circumstances that did have measurable and horrific effects on Dream didn't have quite the same effects as while time passes like it does for mortals, Dream isn't human in his psychology or personal-emotional-metaphysical makeup in the way Death is. Solitary confinement affects Death very much like it does human beings, because this is one of many, many ways where being humanlike bites her in the ass in ways that it wouldn't any of her far less human siblings.
