Well, I raise you: Echo learning random obscure knowledge and pulling it out in conversations with strangers, solely to steal Tech's opportunity to info dump.

Dans la revue Campus Life, une jeune infirmière a publié un article qui retrace le long cheminement qui lui a fait découvrir l’amour de Dieu à travers la souffrance

Eileen était l'une de ses premières malades. Un anévrisme cérébral (rupture d'un vaisseau) l'avait privée de tout contrôle sur son être. D'après le médecin, Eileen était totalement inconsciente, incapable d'éprouver la moindre sensation douloureuse. Le personnel soignant venait la tourner sur son lit, toutes les heures, afin de lui éviter des escarres: deux fois par jour elle était nourrie au moyen d'une sonde. S'occuper de cette malade pouvait paraître ingrat. D’ailleurs, une autre élève infirmière, d'une promotion précédente, avait dit à sa jeune collègue : « Quand tu t'occupes de ce genre de malades, il faut que tu arrives à te détacher, sur le plan émotionnel, de la situation concrète, sinon tu risques de vomir, chaque fois que tu rentres dans la chambre. » Il en résulta que cette malade fut de plus en plus considérée comme une chose, une plante à la vie uniquement végétative. Les plaisanteries qui circulaient à propos de cette chambre " la chambre 415 " étaient grossières et traduisaient un total manque de respect en face de cette « chose » autrefois «humaine ».

La jeune infirmière prit la résolution de ne pas traiter cette malade comme le faisaient les autres personnes du service. Elle prit le temps de parler à Eileen, de chanter, de l'encourager et parfois, elle lui offrait de petits cadeaux. Un jour où l'infirmière avait été particulièrement éprouvéepar toutes ses tâches, où elle aurait pu déverser son amertume et son animosité sur cette pauvre malade infirme, elle décida, au contraire, de se montrer encore plus affable avec Eileen. C'était le jour de l'Action de grâce (jour de fête, en novembre, aux États-Unis). L'infirmière dit à la malade : « J'étais de mauvaise humeur ce matin, Eileen, parce que normalement, j'aurais dû être de congé aujourd'hui. Mais cela ne fait rien, je suis contente d'être là. Je n'aurais pas voulu passer ce jour de fête sans vous voir. Savez-vous que c'est aujourd'hui la fête de l'Action de grâce ? » Juste à ce moment le téléphone sonna. En allant répondre, le regard de l’infirmière croisa celui d’Eileen. Quelle ne fut pas sa surprise de la voir pleurer! Des auréoles de larmes s'étaient formées sur l'oreiller et elle tremblait de tout son être.

Ce fut la seule manifestation de vie émotionnelle qu'Eileen manifesta au personnel hospitalier, mais ce fut suffisant pour changer radicalement l'attitude de ceux qui la soignaient.

Peu de temps après, Eileen mourut. La jeune infirmière conclut son récit par ces mots: « Je pense souvent à Eileen. Aussi étrange que cela puisse paraître, je lui dois beaucoup ! Sans elle, je n'aurais jamais su ce que c'est que de se vouer à quelqu'un qui ne peut rien vous donner en retour. »

Halloween-Party mit BlackRoy & Escart bei den Rebels of Metal in Altena

Vielen Dank für den schönen Abend. Habe zum ersten Mal ohne echtes Schlagzeug gespielt, aber wir haben ganz selten das BlackRoy-Set mit einem ganz alten und einem ganz neuen Song gerockt. Außerdem super Grillzeug als Catering und eine Menge Drinks sowie eine coole Metalband, Escart, die mit uns die Bühne gerockt hat. Außerdem Danke an meinen Bassmann Jeroen für den Camper. War zwar kalt (na ja, nach Island ist alles relativ), aber war eine geile Party.
