People are waiting for things to be history while it’s happening so they can say “oh why couldn’t we do anything to stop it?”
You can do something to stop it.
Murder is happening right now. People are being killed right now. Starved out. Infected with disease from manufactured conditions. Their homes and community being torn apart because of sickening and disgusting wishes from the people in power above us assuring it happens.
Stand up. Do something.
Don’t wait and say we should’ve done something to help when we could’ve. You’re complacent if you aren’t helping now.

supporting congo can be as simple as finding alternative devices that don’t use cobalt- most devices with lithium ion batteries contain cobalt but a lot of AA batteries tend to use zinc/alkaline compounds instead !!
while maybe a tad more outdated in devices I’d 100% rather find alternatives to human exploitation

growing up my family and i played a lot of this card game called "Bang!" Maybe you've heard of it. Maybe not?
Well, in this game one player takes the public role of the Sherriff, and all the other players are secret other roles. You might be someone like an outlaw, who wants to see the Sheriff killed, or you might be the deputy, and it's your job to protect the Sheriff. You don't know who is who until bullets start to fly and you can see who is getting shot.
Tumblr media
Well, sounds fun, except for one thing: Whenever we'd start the game, all my siblings and our friends started to find it funny to immediately blast me on the first round, regardless of what my role was. Sometimes, i was against them, and they'd congratulate themselves on a successful guess! Other times, they'd kill me, to their own detriment, and giggle about it anyway.
Tumblr media
Well, as this was the family favorite game, we played it a lot, but i did not enjoy it myself. One day, as the deputy, after getting blasted by the Sheriff on the first turn, i decided i'd had enough. i played card after card trying to kill the sheriff, and the sheriff, my sibling, congratulated themselves on correctly finding an outlaw in hiding (or so they thought). But then, eventually, everyone was shooting at the sheriff and my sibling thought, "wait? who's supposed to be on my team?" When the game finally ended and i revealed my role, they were shocked! How could i throw the game like that? Didn't i realize that i would lose if the sheriff died? how could i be so short sighted? how was that any fun for anyone?
Well, after that, nobody picked on me the first turn ever again, and everyone else had a good laugh at the sheriff who felt rather embarrassed that they'd made an enemy out of their loyal supporter, all in the name of continuing the status quo of picking on me. They also took a moment and realized how much they'd taken my loyalty for granted after showing me none. Sometimes, you have to stand up for yourself, even if it means you lose a few rounds, to make sure you show people you have dignity, and they can't keep taking advantage of you by thinking that everything is always gonna remain the same. When you know there will be future games, "the right thing" is a little more complicated than simply identifying which gives you the best chances of winning this round. There's a reason we have a moral outrage.
Unrelated, i will not be voting for Joe Biden.

Never forget that Israel launched a terrorist attack on the village of Tantura in May, 1948. All villagers were rounded up at gunpoint, and the men and teenage boys were led away by the Israeli soldiers. All 40 innocent men and boys were brutally executed, and their widows and children and siblings were kicked out of their homes with only what they could carry. Those lucky enough to survive the cruelty of the barbaric israeli soldiers report seeing them dump the bodies of their loved ones into a mass grave.
That mass grave is now the parking lot of a luxury beach resort in "Israel."
Despite multiple eyewitnesses and evidence of a massacre, the IDF terrorist organization vehemently denied any massacre taking place, calling the victims liars. As they denied, israeli settlers parked their luxury vehicles on the remains of innocents slaughtered by their military so they could go sunbathing.
In 2023, after being commissioned by a human rights organization, the forensic architecture research unit at London's Goldsmiths College undertook a full investigation of the parking lor, and FOUND CONCLUSIVE EVIDENCE THAT IT WAS BUILT ON TOP OF A MASS GRAVE. Conclusive evidence that Israel LIED, and that they WERE responsible for the massacre.
But of course, before holding Israel accountable for its crimes against humanity, we must denounce the actions of their desperate victims they've been standing on the necks of for 75 years. Aparthied propaganda in action; evidence only matters if it makes the brown guy look worse than us.
Google the Tantura massacre for more information. The evidence of Israeli war crimes is undeniable.

Do not allow yourselves to stoop to the level of antisemitism. This harms not only Jewish people, but Palestinians as well. The atrocities committed by the State of Israel are not attributable to all Jewish people. Likewise, violence committed by the religious extremists in Hamas does not reflect on every Palestinian Muslim.
Judaism is not the problem. The problem is the Israeli settler colonialist project, of which not every Jew supports. Zionist Jews are opposed by both secular and religious Jews in Israel and abroad for many reasons. The conflation between Zionism and Judaism only serves the interests of right-wing extremists on either side of the conflict. Do not allow far-right Zionists and antisemites to conflate Zionism with Judaism. Antisemitism is inexcusable.
Antisemitism reinforces Zionist rhetoric, inciting further hatred and violence against the Palestinian people. Oppose racism and bigotry of any kind. Reject antisemitism. Stand against apartheid. Reject Islamophobia. Stand with the oppressed people of Palestine. 🇵🇸

For how much Machete is described by others as off-putting, he really is a beautiful dog. Does Vasco ever tell him so? That his eyes make him look earnest, his fur the most comforting shade of white like cream, the way his ears catch light like stained glass? If someone doesn't tell him so, he'd forever think he was ugliest duckling
I think Vasco definitely tries, sincerely and often, but Machete is very reluctant to accept compliments and positive feedback. Especially if it's about something as personal and innate as his looks.
#he quietly spends a lot of time and effort trying to make himself look his best so appearances aren't a trivial thing for him#he's always very clean and neat and presentable#except on those occasions when he's soaked in blood but that's totally besides the point#white fur is kind of high maintenance any tiny bit of dirt or staining becomes an eyesore and if it dries it may be hard to remove#he bathes very frequently way more than average considering the time period#some of the outfits he wears are worth more than the combined lifetime earnings of like six generations of his family#silk was outrageously expensive and the brightest red dye came from pulverized cochineal insects that had to be imported from America#which had been colonized less than a century ago so those tiny little cactus bugs were really troublesome to get and the demand was huge#he doesn't quite have the nerve to wear perfume despite it's widespread popularity at the time#but he makes sure the smell of frankincense burned during church services sticks to his fur and clothes#in general when you spend your entire life around strict emotionally congested highly religious men#you might not end up developing a very healthy self-esteem or body image#once you've internalized that sense of inferiority it's hard to unlearn it#he's so thirsty for approval and praise but when he receives some he immediately gets uncomfortable and distrustful and vaguely angry#he absolutely struggles to compliment people back as well at least on any meaningful and personal level so there's that#answered#anonymous#Machete
