To jest Twój czas
Tumblr media
-Nie można zazdrościć Myszko! -Tak jak nie można się pysznić. Zaczynam bardzo intensywnie czuć, że Jesteś Obecny. To nie jest moja samotna wiara. Czuję , jak mnie oplatasz i nie mogę Cię objąć., muszę czekać , aż opleciesz mnie znacznie. - ha ha, jak krzak, czy powój? -Jak winorośl - A ty kim będziesz? -Gronem winnym -Albo czym jeszcze? Skoro to Ty jesteś moim narkotykiem. - ha, ha -Otoczyłeś mnie luksusem i to bezinteresownie. -Kocham Ciebie. Dotrzymuj mi kroku. -Tego i Ja chciałem dla nas.

people like to joke that batman is a furry but my hottest batman take is that batman is actually a metaphor for gender expression and drag (he is performing hyper masculinity)

I'm starting to notice that two completely different groups of people both think of Effective Altruists as "Ayn Rand villains", and they each take one of the two opposite meanings by that.

*takes a deep breath* No but you see, there is no conflict between "Do or do not. There is no try." and "Remember this. Try." They're both getting at the same thing, just from different angles. Yoda tells Luke the former because Luke thinks the training is too difficult, that he's been trying and he still can't do it so he'll never be able to do it. What Yoda is saying is that there's no such thing as a halfway attempt. He's not saying "Succeed in doing this or fail, there is no in-between," he's teaching Luke that you don't start doing something and then just drop it when the effort becomes too much. You do it, even if you fail, or you don't do it. Meanwhile Nemik's manifesto is saying the same thing - no matter how impossible something might seem, it's better to try, you have to try. Both characters are exhorting others to step up and do something, even when it's difficult, especially when it's difficult. There is no dipping in and out, maybe I'll try it out a little and then when it gets too hard or unpleasant, I'll give up and move on to something else. Do not give into despair. The road is not easy and you do not know what lies at the end of it and you may not succeed, you may never succeed, but you must make up your mind and commit to taking it nonetheless. Do it. Make the attempt. Try.

I have an hour and forty minutes long video essay about how Trans Warframe is and I am sure you didn't watch it so lacking the context of the points I raise, do you see it? Do you also think Warframe is Trans A/F?
One of the main narrative throughlines is "you should become what you want yourself to be, instead of what the world sees / says / thinks you are". You can read into that in a lot of ways, I think! A trans reading of it makes sense. Hell, look at Fortuna. The text is reading itself that way.

im watching a retrospective about Majora's Masks dungeon progression and realizing a little more every time he says "this game took a lot of very brave steps out to not be ocarina of time" that my disappointment with totk isn't out of place. I've been told "it's breath of the wild 2, why did you expect it to be different?" but like.. it's it's own game. why is it the exact same but with an arguably worse iteration of the story?

I find it genuinely fascinating and disturbing alike how the stereotype of autism, at least in many left-leaning spaces, has shifted in recent years from being a tragic, isolating white boys' disease, that tears families apart and is truly a fate worse than death for the sufferer, to a frivolous and #aesthetic white GIRLS' quirk that never has any ACTUALLY detrimental effects, not even any social difficulties, all these girls on TikTok can mask well and talk Normally and only flap cutely so what's YOUR excuse?
We spent maybe 5 figurative minutes talking about how autism mommy culture is abusively ableist in the way it simultaneously bends over backward to avoid teaching autistic kids - ESPECIALLY autistic boys - any meaningful coping skills, writing the whole concept off as just truly impossible (it's just the nature of The Autism Winning, these poor poor children are just tragically locked in their own heads, and if they're boys, well, Boys Will Be Boys, there's certainly nothing to be done for the meltdowns, stress reduction and clearer communication is a hopeless endeavor, he's just Acting Out completely arbitrarily, no I haven't actually TRIED I don't need to I Just Know), but simultaneously demands that kids learn these skills on their own because their parents just refuse to communicate with them on their own terms - then the fidget spinner trend happened, we got a whole stim toy industry, it blended with influencer and wannabe-influencer culture, and now...we just have a whole new stereotype that's no better; what it reduces in potential as eugenics propaganda, it makes up for in denial of support needs and misogynistic overtones.
In short, I fucking hate it.

i get why ppl say that babel was too 'telling not showing' with the cohorts' friendship; robin's internal monologue says his cohort were all in love with each other, but we mostly get dialogue of them fighting *cough* and letty being racist *cough*. i just think that that was kind of the point!
robin is a great flawed protagonist and most importantly an unreliable narrator, and the disparity between what he tells you and the dialogue scenes we actually get feels intentional to me, because you can feel the disconnect between what robin wanted and his reality. when he was still in love with babel, he wanted their cohort to be a perfect romantic ideal, wanted to think their fights were overcomeable, that ramy and victoire felt the same that he did. but the cracks were there from the beginning; their relationships were always fucked up. the effects of colonialism/imperialism robin wanted so badly to ignore had doomed them from the beginning. babel in ramy or victoire's perspective would be wildly wildly different because it's clear they did not have robin's privilege
i just love that robin is like truly such a damn liberal for half the book, never truly committing to hermes, holding onto his whiteness and desire to belong, and that this flaw is what dooms his relationship with ramy. people celebrate babel for its scathing critique of white feminism, and they should, but it's also so damning of liberal activism too imo. robin as a protagonist exemplifies the way fellow poc will often uphold racist structures for their own benefit and to avoid complicating themselves--and that this will always be a futile selfish endeavour. robin must, like all of us, come to the conclusion that he will never belong while this system remains intact, that his privilege isn't worth the suffering of those alike him, and that resisting it however he can is the only moral and just thing to do. wow i got sidetracked but robin swift wasian character of all time fr

I think that, in addition to the fact that poetry is not as widely celebrated as it should be, part of the reason people don't buy poetry books is because they don't know how to read poetry books. They can read and understand a poem, sure, but reading a collection requires a different form of attention. You need to be sensitive to narrative arcs, to the ways different themes and ideas evolve throughout the text, to the transformations that occur, and the ways different poems juxtaposed against one another reveal new insights into each poem.
In short, a poetry book requires you to slow down. But the ways literature is commercialized makes it a lot harder for folks to realize this. The literary world has annual reading goals (I read 100 books last year!), top 20 lists (these are the best poetry books of 2023!), a general sense of urgency around literature (you haven't read it yet?!?)
But poetry collections aren't about filling shelf space. You can't flip through the pages like prose and expect to understand even a tenth of what you've just read. Just because there are fewer words than in a novel, doesn't mean it should take less time than it does to read a novel.
Poetry books resist commodification, and when our literary culture praises the most well- and widely-read individuals, it gives into that commodification, celebrating the reader whose shelf is filled with thousands of collections they only barely grasped. I often find myself lamenting how few poetry collections I've actually read, but if I spent my time with the work and gained a whole lot from reading it, why does it matter that my poetry shelf has so many "vacancies?" Why do I feel a lack, and not what I've gained from the work I've actually read?

When asked via email for additional comment on the videos, Seldowitz said, “Happy to talk (Wednesday). What was absent from the video is what (the vendor) said before the video.”
Oh yeah? Please tell us what your hotdog vendor could have said that would make it appropriate to say: “If we killed 4,000 Palestinian children, you know what? It wasn’t enough!”

Elvis and the two sides of his personality in a picture -- the hot guy riding a Harley-Davidson bike and the tender young man holding a baby. Could he be anymore appealing to females? Oh, right... he was also a musician, a singer, with a wonderful personality to go with it... Funny, humble, attentive, affectionate, charming, gentle, sexy, generous, smart... the list goes on and on. His only fault was being just one. Sorry, I am overwhelmed and I had to put it out... this picture is just too meaningful. Like they say, "Elvis had everything".
The info on the pictures is below.
