Echo walks around the marketplace, arms full with small trinkets and gifts for Nyks. It scanned the booths, all filled with little treasures he’d love to buy one day. But for now he'd settle for the few items in hand. 

It stopped in front of Harbly's workstation eyes fixed on a beautiful dagger. He sets down his haul and holds it carefully. It's beautifully made, it can't see any faults in the blade and the handle was ornate in a way Echo didn't believe possible.

Harbly walks up to Echo and hums approval."Nice, isn't it? Took me long to make.”

"How much for it?” he asks.

Harbly gasps, offended. "No. For you? It is free. As long as it gets to Nyks. I imagine you're shopping for her? Or are those earrings for you?"

"Absolutely not. I can't accept this,” Echo protests.

Harbly waves his hand, "Have you heard? She is teaching my boy. If it makes you comfortable you can take this as payment."

Echo sighs and picks up it's haul.  Harbly sheathes the dagger and puts it on the pile, securing it between a cloak and a small brown package.

"Thank you,” Echo says. Harbly nods and turns away to another customer. While his back is, Echo fishes a few shells out of its pocket and puts them where the dagger sat. Before Harbly turned back around, Echo was gone.

i read a pinescone fic recently abt wirt being the anti-beast by leading lost children out of the woods and it drove me insane and i suddenly started thinking abt my pinescone early aughts university au and. wirt instinctually leading people away from being lost without realizing. going into psych to become a guidance counselor/therapist. working part time at the library and directing people to the right section- he always seems to have the right recommendation for someone going through a hard time. his lights shine a bit brighter than everyone else’s, and his window on the top floor faces the woods, so anyone in the forest can see campus in the dark and find their way home. he frequents the lost and found- his laundry always seems to spawn socks that his floor mates lost four years ago. he’s always getting stopped by visiting families and freshmen for directions- he thinks he just walks too slow and looks approachable, no matter how much he scowls. he walks shortcuts over hills and through groves of trees and finds the ground below him a bit more worn than normal every time. wirt is a beacon to the lost and hopeless without even knowing it. even when he is at his loneliest, he is always being followed and always being watched.

We got how tense and awkward the Talons would react with Heka (very strangely wholesome tho), but could you imagine strolling up to Gerger and telling him that you’re DATING THE KING/QUEEN.

Btw, how do you pronounce Gerger’s name?

He attempts to curtsy and a bundle of lockpicks falls out of his belt.

And just like that, Gerger joins the ranks of characters like Jackal Steve that I meant to mention in passing, but the more I wirte for them, the more they become legitimate secondary characters.

I have another ask about some facts for him that I'm excitedd to answer, so stay tuned...

Fun fact! His name was a placeholder. I made up several similar names and ALL of them ended up meaning something in german, so I put down Gerger, my vision shattered.

i sadly dont have any for em...😔 except for Milo...for him it's Wirt from Over the Garden Wall (you can actually find a post of a rough animation i did with a few lines here :-) ) OH and Amias actually. It'd be ENA from...ENA. LOL. fun fact about their voice i had an idea that like everytime they start a new sentence their voice changes (not like 70 different voices they maybe switch between like 5 variations but they all sound slightly different each time) so no one can ever properly remember what they sound like LOL. desperately looking for any that'd fit Chandly and Perci but i CANNOT find any proper voices with slavic accents...(specificaly czech) this is once again ur sign to send me any va's or headcanons you'd have i'd love to look teehee.

PLEASE TELL ME MORE ABOUT SPRITE WIRT

Oh I didn’t expect this!

Well, it’s more something that I decided today. His parents (Anastasia and Olivier) are an apple tree sprite and an oak sprite, so he’s like a mixture of them!m

His default magic lets him create oak/apple tree branches or roots, or really any part of the trees, doesn’t matter if it’s an extension of his body or something he summoned on the ground.

He can also learn more plant spells, kind of like Isabella from Encanto I guess? If I had better references I would use em but I don’t 💀

He can both control and create plants, his eyes turn a different color (maybe green? Not sure yet) depending on how strong the spell is

OK WELL. They aren’t REALLY a spells, more extensions of his skills.

The fact that he’s a tree sprite is a bit funny, considering he uses an axe in battle when he’s in space with Wybie, Dipper and Morty

The axe is a bit special itself, but I’d go offtrack so I’ll stop here ;)

(Oh also he has antlers when he’s only using his magic heheheh)

ok!!! posting step by step how to make a joxter/snufkin (just change the fabric and size) hat!!!!

the first thing I did was just get the fabric, I bought roughly 2 yards and used about half of joann's felt. I used my snufkin hat i previously made for size reference!

keep in mind I don't actually...use patterns. so the diameter of the hat is, unknown to me but if anyone needs precise measurements I shall break out the tape measure!!

using my snufkin hat, or anything round, a cookie tin could work!! I cut out two separate round disks of fabric, those will be the rim of the hat!

then I use a sharpie remotely a similar shade to the felt, and measured my head and drew a circle a bit bigger than it!!

next I took out a small slice of felt from the doughnut of fabric, this will help the hat sit up more and fit more snugly! it also gives jt more shape!!

then take both pieces of the doughnut and sew them together where you cut them SEPARATELY. trust me I sewed them together while making this and I had to undo ALL of my stitching. not fun.

next sew the edges of the hat rim together!! I just hand stitched it but a sewing machine probably would be much more convenient!

then using the hat rim as a guide cut about a slightly smaller doughnut of batting! I got this batting at joanns too, but walmart has really good batting for a better price! also I used 2 doughnuts of batting because it was too thin. but if you want the hat exceptionally floppy, only use one.

next I cut out four large triangles of felt. those will be the top of the hat, (I don't know hag terminology aaa), and will also make the pointy wizard ish thingy that hangs over!

start sewing em together so you get what looks like a smaller version of wirt's hat from otgw!!

preference of communication:  mainly tumblr IMs these days, but i have discord and wire and occasionally i will drop my info on tumblr, give it out privately if asked, or add if someone else is looking to add. it can take me a while to work up the courage to message someone in the first place and i'm really... not good at the usual social cues of "hey how are you/good how are you?/what have you been up to?" but i'm usually game to chat about other stuff

most active muse:  Caleb. i've had a lot of other muses but he's been the one i've been most consistently able to write in the slightly over 3 years since i first started writing him.

experience/how many years:  i had a couple false starts trying to set up rp blogs for Samwise Gamgee from the Lord of the Rings trilogy and Wirt from Over the Garden Wall back in 2014 and 2015? but i just never really managed to get off the ground and start writing in-character for them because i was super heavily intimidated by the rpc and too nervous to approach anyone. finally in january 2017 i stumbled across a parody of Portal 2 on youtube called the Unauthorized Musical and discovered that there were already a handful of muns on tumblr who had picked up characters specifically based on that production and regularly hosted rabbit streams where they'd watch the video again together and welcomed anyone who wanted to join to do so. i noticed nobody was really writing any antagonistic characters against them so i wound up setting up a blog for GLaDOS and following everybody i met during the stream and that was essentially how i became hooked on tumblr rp. i've been kicking around on and off for about 7 years now.

best experience: there's so many to choose from, but i think i'd have to say my best experience was when i started writing Caleb. i was just fresh off watching Westworld season 3, i was actually feeling more compelled at the time to try and write either Dolores, Maeve, Clementine or Teddy but i felt like i wouldn't do any of 'em justice. i ended up making a sideblog to my old multimuse after deciding i would try writing Caleb, and that's where i almost immediately connected with melody/aworldofyou/copiesofme and was enthusiastically introduced to a bunch of other muns residing in the tiny but mighty westworld rpc. 🥰

rp pet peeves: one is pretty much the same as Sandra said; making a new main blog in the spur of the moment. exhausting all energy on curating a distinct aesthetic for icons/banners/promos/custom themes/etc, and then completely losing interest in a week or 2 without ever getting to write that character. and then more often than not the process gets repeated down the line until that person either becomes overwhelmed from having too many blogs to manage or too many memes to answer or too many starters to write.

i also don't particularly love memes that promote making rp into a popularity contest or seeking an almost constant stream of validation from other people. things like "send a _ and i'll rate your blog on a scale of 1 to 10/using a scale template" i try to stay far away from. arguably every notification you get on tumblr is an instant dopamine hit just like all social media is but. idk there was just something about those blog rating/character rating memes that made them feel more addictive to send and receive than like, taking the time to give someone your honest opinion on how you feel about them as a person or on their writing and characters and such.

another similar thing is reblog chains to the effect of 'reblog this if you actually like following me/seeing me on the dash.' i really don't like these. there's a level of self-deprecation and guilt-tripping involved and when people already feel awfully low and vulnerable to negative self image this just makes it worse. especially when people post with side commentary like 'oh nobody will reblog this from me lol.' and i don't think they're always necessarily aware that this is manipulative behavior, but...it is. even just the way the source post is typically phrased, it preys on insecurity and it makes me sad when i do see mutuals reblogging posts written like this because then i'm like. just sitting there thinking "i'm not a spambot so...if i didn't like following you or seeing you on my dash i would not be following you??"

other forms of reblog chains like 'reblog to give the person you're reblogging from a hug' or 'reblog this and say something nice about the person you reblogged from' are far better in my opinion because they don't inherently contain that same level of insecurity. they put the focus on lifting up and supporting the person you're reblogging from instead of centering on yourself.

plots or memes: i like both but i am very much a memes person because i feel like i'm not very good at plotting.

long or short replies: i don't really have a preference! but lately my thing generally seems to be letting the length creep up so my replies just get longer and longer over time. i never expect anyone to match me, but like. the one thing that would crush my soul is me posting like. 5-7 paragraphs and getting back a one sentence or one word response 😭

are you like your muses: i have a few things in common with caleb, one of them being that we're both neurodivergent and just trying to exist in a society where it is typically seen as undesirable to be classed as such. i stumbled across a venn diagram a while back comparing and contrasting common traits associated with ptsd and autism and it has given me a lot to take into consideration in the way that i portray caleb

The next day, Dipper waited anxiously at Oakleaf Books, too impatient even to read. Up and down he went in and out of his favorite armchair, even trying some others chairs for size. When he sat, his leg bounced, his foot tapping lightly on the ground, but not lightly enough that Cami couldn’t hear. Whenever she yelled at him to stop being “such a fucking weirdo” Dipper would rise to his feet again and begin his pacing. It was two hours from the start of his shift before Mikey strolled in.

“Hey!” Dipper cried very uncharacteristically, earning a raised brow from Cami. “Mikey, here for your book?”

“Yeah, hey dude,” Mikey said.

Dipper handed him the leatherbound book he had saved behind the desk all night, looked Mikey in the eye, and said, “So, uh, I think I’m ready to move out.”

Mikey stared at him for a moment, and then his blank expression erupted into a smile. “Aw, you takin’ Wirt up on ‘es offer? Y’know I told ‘em someone was interested, I woulda hated to let ‘em down!”

“I just… wanted to ask a few questions,” Dipper said, gently leading Mikey away from the checkout desk and over to an aisle at the corner of the store. As far away from Cami as possible.

“Yeah, shoot,” Mikey grinned.

Dipper took a deep breath. “Okay. Um, so this sounds kind of too good to be true.”

“Oh. Well, it’s not. I promise ya!” Mikey lightly punched Dipper in the arm, and Dipper pretended it did not hurt. “Wirt is a great guy, really, he’s the best! I lived with ‘em for a while! Just moved out a week er so ago!”

“How… how long?” Dipper asked, resisting the urge to rub his arm. “Um, how long did you live with him?”

“Oh, like five months or somethin’,” Mikey said. “Really, I hardly paid anything for rent, cuz like I said the house is all paid for and he owns it! Plus he works, so he really doesn’t need your money all that much. Just whatever ya wanna contribute. I hardly paid nuthin’ and he was fine with it! So don’t worry about the money, aight?”

“Um, okay,” Dipper said slowly. “You… lived with him?”

“Yeah, in the room where you’ll prolly be stayin’. Has its own bathroom! And Wirt was amazing to live with. You’ll be in very good hands.”

“Are there other roommates? Because there’s... four rooms.”

“Uhh, I’m pretty sure he has another roomie right now,” Mikey said, nodding slowly. “And obviously he’s got one ‘a the rooms, so that leaves just one… I dunno. ‘E might rent that one out too. But ‘e also likes to keep a guest room.”

“And, um, I noticed that he’s posted a lot of ads… does he do that every time someone moves out?” Dipper pressed. “Or is it just a periodic thing?”

“Oh.” Mikey was quiet for a moment, which Dipper, even after knowing him a total of just a few hours, already knew was uncharacteristic of him. “Well, there’s the thing. Yeah, he posts an ad immediately after someone leaves. I know it’s frequent. ‘E’s a really good guy though. Like, seriously.”

“This is just…” Dipper sighed. “This is all so weird. Do you see that? You’re so enthusiastic about me moving in with him, but it seems like people don’t last long with him. Like… it’s just really weird.”

“Yeah, I get it. I mean, when I was livin’ there, I loved it. It’s so homey. I moved out because I’m livin’ in a frat house now.”

“Oh. Um, do you know why the others moved out so quickly?”

“I mean, I only known Wirt for like a year er so, but e’s always been great. I’d hang out at his place sometimes before I moved in, and everything seemed totally fine with the other roommates. I dunno. Maybe people go in planning on it bein’ super temporary. Like… because ya don’t gotta sign a contract or nothin’, ya don’t gotta pay much, you can leave pretty easy. I wouldn’t look too much into it, bud. You want me to bring ‘em around sometime so you two can talk?”

“Um,” Dipper took a deep breath, trying to stop the wriggling caterpillars in his guts from fully breaking out of their cocoons. “No. That’s okay. I can… just call him or something.”

“Cool! I gotta get to readin’ now, unless ya had more questions?”

“No, I’m… I’m good.” Dipper nodded thankfully at Mikey as he watched him stroll down an aisle and disappear.
