Things my Rewrite Will Fix About Descendants - Kingdom Names

I'VE DONE IT!!

Anyway, one thing (there are multiple though, let's be honest) that particularly irked me about the Descendants franchise would be the names of the kingdoms. While "Auradon" has a nice ring to it, some of the names of the other smaller kingdoms/locations leave something to be desired.

So for my rewrite series, Barriers (and for my second rewrite WIP that has yet to be named), I decided to rename the ones I didn't like.

Charmington -> Edenwald, Snow White and Florian's Kingdom

First of all, if any of the kingdoms were going to be named "Charmington", why wouldn't it be the kingdom from Cinderella? Originally, I wanted to swap Charmington for Cinderellasburg, so naturally, the old Charmington would need a new name. I wanted the name of the kingdom to reference the Enchanted Forest in Snow White, so Eden was the first name to come to mind (meaning paradise, but also referencing the Garden of Eden in the story of Adam and Eve from the Bible, which also parallels well to Snow White being the first Disney Princess). But "Eden" felt somewhat incomplete. Eventually, adding the "wald" (meaning forest in German, which is where the story of Snow White originates) at the end gave it a much more fitting name imo.

Cinderellasburg -> Charmont, Kit/Charles/Henry/Christopher and Cinderella's Kingdom

Don't get me wrong, I love Cinderella (somehow even more now than I did before), but why would they name a region after some commoner? Yes, her story's inspiring, but not inspiring enough to rename a kingdom in her honor. Having the kingdom named "Charmington", where the Charmings rule felt fitting at first. But, the more I looked at "Charmington", the more "Charmington" felt like a clothing store or a medieval amusement park. I wanted to incorporate "Charm" as a prefix , and took the suffix from "argent" (meaning silver in French, which is the color of Cinderella's dress) and changed the e to an o.

Auroria -> Aetheria, Aurora and Phillip's Kingdom

I almost left "Auroria" alone because it sounds so pretty and ethereal and whimsical. I could believe that either Aurora was named after "Auroria" or "Auroria" was named after Aurora and I was willing to let that be that. All I did was add ia to aether, and that sounded prettier to me lmao.

Auradon -> Beaumier, Adam and Belle's Kingdom

This one is specifically for my second rewrite. In this fic verse, all of the united kingdoms are still called "The United Kingdoms of Auradon". However, Adam and Belle are not the monarchs ruling over all the other kingdoms, therefore their specific kingdom needs a name. I wanted the name to be French inspired, and the name "Beau" felt fitting given it means "beautiful" or "handsome" like "Belle". "Beau" is also a nice little callback to the writer of the original fairytale in 1756, Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont AND to one of the villages the setting is based on, Ribeauvillé. All I did after that was research names of places that had "Beau" in the name, and I came across Beaumier Hotels.

And nothing for Seaside, because A.) All of the other names I came up with sound too corny (and I don't like Tirulia) and B.) Seaside's growing on me.

¿Por qué deberías leer Can Ci Pin te preguntarás? Porque si eres un amante de la ciencia ficción espacial, mechas con un plus de gays, es totalmente para ti.

Can Ci Pin es una novela escrita por Priest y mi primera lectura de ella. La construcción de mundo que tiene es compleja, dividida en 8 galaxias principales que forman la Unión Interestelar, hay piratas espaciales, militares divididos en grupos y cuestiones políticas. Su mundo de primeras puede resultar difícil de entender y más aún debido al vocabulario de cosas mecánicas y de mechas, pero les juro que Priest logra asombrarte, los detalles y la historia que hay detrás, la complejidad que tiene es parte del encanto que te sumerge totalmente en esta historia.

Nos presentan al MC que es Lu Bixing viviendo en la Octava Galaxia (piensen en ello como la galaxia marginal) y con el sueño de fundar un colegio donde pueda educar a los niños del planeta Beijin, él es un genio mecánico con grandes ideales y sueños, acompañado del ML Lin Jingheng, quien inicialmente solo era un ganster en Beijin y resultó ser el Comandante del Yin Yaosai (Fortaleza Plateada, una de las más poderosas dentro del ejército de la Alianza), quien supuestamente estaba muerto. Los dos, poco a poco van descubriendo el secreto detrás del Sistema de Eden y viejos proyectos que afectaron terriblemente a la humanidad, la historia oculta detrás del control.

Es una power couple muy potente y llena de tensión, no es una relación que se de desde un inicio sino que va desarrollándose y ves cómo ambos van mutando debido a las vicisitudes. Es muy real la forma en que van enfrentando sus sentimientos debido a sus personalidades, cuestiones políticas y distancia, eventualmente tu único deseo es que huyan ellos dos y Zhan Lu (el IA asistente de Lin Jingheng) a una galaxia lejana y tengan una casita con mascotitas robots viviendo tranquilos y felices.

No solo sufres (mucho) por la pareja principal, también debido a los secundarios, todos son creados de tal manera que cada uno tiene su chispa y encanto, nadie es totalmente blanco o negro, todos tienen sus tonos de grises debido a las adversidades que han vivido, con sus propias filosofías e ideales. Realmente todos los personajes tienen su noséqué especial que te hace amarlos demasiado, son humanos y se equivocan y crecen y cambian.

Así que háganse el favor y embárquense en el vórtice que este mundo te hace entrar, fantasía espacial, política, drama, tensión, romance. No te das cuenta cuando apartas la vista y regresas a este mundo aburrido sin naves ni robots ni IAs asombrosas.

Plus, son muy golden retriever x black cat energy, su relación está llena de tensión y ellos son el peak del romance. Lin Jingheng es el verdadero sugar daddy que le compraría las galaxias enteras a Lu Bixing si pudiese.

A infância em um orfanato no Texas não foi fácil para Zahir. Ele não fazia ideia de sua origem, tendo sido abandonado ali muito novo e ganhado o nome de Casper dos próprios funcionários do orfanato. Apesar disso, não era bem tratado pelas pessoas, sendo o ambiente extremamente abusivo, toda criança que saísse minimamente da linha era punida de maneira física. Além de também sofrer nas mãos de colegas maiores e mais fortes. Isso até se aproximar de Henry, um colega mais velho que passou a lhe defender de seus agressores e o integrou em seu pequeno grupo. Grupo este que mais tarde ser praticamente uma seita, mas estava integrado demais nas maldades de seus novos amigos para voltar atrás. Afinal, com eles estava protegido, era incluído e amado. E havia certo prazer em se tornar o agressor ao invés de o agredido. Por isso, passou a fazer coisas a mando de Henry, como bater em colegas mais fracos e até mesmo em colegas mais fortes, que agora tinham medo de si pelo seu envolvimento com o rapaz mais temido do orfanato.

Quando todos no grupo se tornaram maiores de idade, tinham um lugar para ficar graças a Henry. Logo o rapaz se deu conta de que, para manter aquele pequeno apartamento, o mais velho estava trabalhando em coisas deveras perigosas e extremamente ilegais. Ele havia entrado para o que parecia uma gangue e, antes que percebesse, Casper também estava envolvido nisso até o último fio de cabelo, fazendo cada vez mais atrocidades para ganhar destaque dentro do grupo, crescendo na hierarquia.

Ao longo dos anos foi se mostrando cada vez melhor no que fazia, sendo notado pelos superiores. Mas isso irritou Henry. Afinal, ele praticamente o havia criado. Casper só estava onde estava graças a ele. Como se atrevia a se tornar mais importante que ele na gangue? Então, ele traçou um plano. Um longo e cruel plano para se livrar daquele que havia feito seu melhor amigo.

Depois de anos evitando, Casper finalmente havia decidido procurar sua família biológica. Seguia uma trilha que ia até o Egito, onde acreditava estar sua mãe biológica de acordo com a investigação que havia feito, e foi lá que Henry tentou lhe assassinar: Deixou-o a beira da morte nas ruas de Guizé, onde ele acreditou que encontraria a morte. Mas não foi o caso. Em um raro momento de compaixão de um Seguidor de Set, Casper recebeu o abraço, a partir de então se tornando leal ao clã de seu Senhor.

Também permitiu que ele fosse atrás de Henry, a quem Zahir matou a sangue frio, não sem antes deixá-lo entender exatamente porque e como estava morrendo.

Atualmente, Zahir é cegamente fiel às crenças dos Seguidores de Set e do Sabat. Vê seres humanos como meras peças, degraus a serem escalados para que a espécime superior ocupe seu lugar de merecimento, e não se importa com ninguém além de si mesmo. Apesar disso, é muito amigável e charmoso com todos ao seu redor, acreditando que a diplomacia é a maneira mais fácil de se chegar em algum lugar.
