i have so many thoughts on the word “drowsy”. GOD i can’t get enough of it. i LOVE the implications of it bc it can be related to so many different scenarios with similar vibes

maybe whumpee has had an extremely exhausting day. i’m talking manual labor— working for hours to get something done and they’re finally home and they are BONE tired. maybe caretaker brings them some food and runs them a hot bath, and once they’re warm and their belly is full they find it physically impossible to stay awake. their head keeps bobbing up and down with threats of nodding off, their eyes have that glassy, drowsy, far away look to them, and they’re barely coherent anymore, just focused on keeping their eyes open, but it’s a losing battle. eventually caretaker sidles up to them and guides their head to lay on the space between caretaker’s chin and shoulder and sleep finally takes them

or maybe whumpee has been in a fight or is severely injured or something of the sort, and they’ve been patched up and pumped full of pain meds and are lying in a hospital bed. caretaker is beside them, gently carding their fingers through their hair with a quiet conversation and the gesture as well as the copious amounts of drugs in whumpee’s system is making their eyelids droop. they feel the pleasant buzz of the pain relief and they finally get to rest after whatever unfortunate circumstance landed them in the hospital in the first place and caretaker notices them losing the battle with sleep because their conversation becomes more of a drowsy mumble and then whumpee’s breathing evens out and they’re out

Caretaker heard the coughing, he knew that cough.

The cough Whumpee would desperately hide from him, but couldn't, especially when they gasped for breath after every coughing fit they had.

Caretaker grabbed his kettle and started to fix his tea.

Whumpee came down fully dressed and ready for the day.

"Oh, where are you going?", Caretaker faked a smile, "or should I ask where you think you're going?"

"Oh um, I had plans with you", Whumpee looked up pleadfully.

"Yes, and you still do, but the original plans are going to be rescheduled", Caretaker pulled the kettle off the stove as the hum got louder.

Whumpee looked up sadly, "Wh-what do you mean?", Whumpee talked with a rough voice, trying to hide a cough in their throat.

"Whumpee you've been hacking all night", Caretaker rolled his eyes, "and I know you're trying to cover it up, but you can't hide that."

Whumpee looked down.

"You need to rest today. Please go put on your pajamas or something comfortable", Caretaker poured two cups of hot water, "then come back down for tea."

Whumpee finally let their cough out, "I'm sorry Caretaker", they started to turn.

"Nothing to be sorry for, I'm sure you didn't ask to be sick", Caretaker smiled, "we can plan our day again when we aren't sick."

Whumpee nodded, then went up to get changed.

Caretaker set up the tea and smiled as Whumpee entered the room.

"Okay, this should help a little, I'll start breakfast and get some medicine in you", Caretaker watched Whumpee take a few sips of the tea, "I'll have you rest though out today, so you can do whatever, as long as you're resting. You need to sleep as well, so don't feel bad if you get tired" Caretaker hid a smile as he took a drink.

After breakfast Whumpee sat on the couch with a book. It wasn't long after they started to feel drowsy.

Caretaker came in to check on them.

"Hey I'm feeling really tired all of a sudden", Whumpee looked at Caretaker with droopy eyes, "did you accidentally give me something that would make me tired."

"It wasn't accidental. Your tea was my cold and flu sleepy tea", Caretaker smiled, "I heard you coughing all night, and that means you weren't sleeping. I know you enjoy going long periods without sleep, but you need to get better."

Whumpee's jaw dropped, "Caretaker, you drugged me."

"I guess you could say that", Caretaker grinned, "don't worry, I have your favorite meal planned for lunch to make up for it."

Whumpee shook their head but couldn't hide a smile, Caretaker was lucky they trusted him.

Caretaker helped Whumpee lay down and covered them up.

"I... can't... believe... how good... that..stuff works", Whumpee struggled to keep their eyes open.

Caretaker knelt down, "yes, it definitely works very well", Caretaker smiled and played with Whumpee hair, "do you want to hear about lunch?"

Whumpee weakly nodded to tired to talk now.

"I just ordered groceries and medicine to be delivered. I bought Rye bread and mozzarella cheese. I also bought tomatoe soup. So I'm making your favorite, grilled cheese and a side of soup because you like to dip. I'll also put some shredded cheese in the soup to make it even better", Caretaker started to whisper as Whumpee's blinking grew slower and slower.

Whumpee opened their eyes a final time and grinned at Caretaker.

"Go ahead and get some rest", Caretaker reached for the book Whumpee was cuddling, and made sure to bookmark it. He watched Whumpee's eyes close one last time.

Caretaker played with Whumpee's hair for a few more minutes before getting up.

Whumpee's breathing had settled now, they were already heavily sleeping.

Caretaker smiled as they sat down across from them, "get well soon Whumpee."

Brought to you by me not feeling well the last few days. Funny story I was drinking Cold and Flu PM (night time) tea at work, and I would get super drowsy. I thought they just used more calming leaves to help you relax, but no, that stuff knocks you out. I was at work floating on clouds. I'm getting better though, so that's nice. Haiku and Tanka (snapshot and video): Essay

Japanese short poem-type literature, Tanka, has 31 syllables, ``5, 7, 5, 7, 7,'' and Haiku has 17 syllables, ``5, 7, 5.'' Historically, tanka is much older, and Haiku was born in the form of renga（連歌）which is a Variation of Tanka. Haiku is the grandchild of Tanka.

Looking at the posts on Tumblr., there are far more posts of Haiku than Tanka, with a roughly 7:1 ratio of Haiku to Tanka. I sometimes write tanka, but I write Haiku much more frequently. Let's compare the characteristics of both.

Haiku is a snapshot. It can be compared to capturing and presenting momentary human relationships and nature on camera. Tanka, on the other hand, is a video. The relatively long format of 31 syllables makes this possible, but it is more effective at creating animations of human relationships than depictions of nature.

Looking at Japanese Tanka, many men and women are good at Tanka, but while men are also good at songs about relationships, most women are only good at songs about relationships, especially love songs between men and women. They have left behind many famous poems. However, few famous poems describe nature.

On the other hand, Haiku is never suitable for love songs, and its main focus is on depicting nature. I'm a man, and I'm bad at writing love poems. Also, to me, Tanka is ``drowsy'' and I don't feel like writing it, so I write Tanka only when the amount of poetry doesn't fit in Haiku.

Currently, Japan is experiencing a Tanka boom. Many young people choose Tanka as a means of self-expression. Haiku never seems to be popular.

タンブラーの投稿を見ていると、俳句の投稿が短歌よりずっと多く、ざっと俳句：短歌＝７：１くらいである。私は短歌も書くことがあるが、書くのは俳句のほうがずっと多い。両者の特徴を比較してみよう。

俳句はスナップショットである。一瞬の人間関係、自然の姿をカメラに収めて呈示することに例えられる。一方、短歌は動画である。３１音節であるという比較的長い形式がそれを可能にするのだが、自然描写よりは人間関係の動画化に力を発揮する。

日本の短歌をみる限り、男性も女性も短歌を得意とする人は多いが、男性が人間関係の歌も得意なのに対し、女性はほとんどの場合、人間関係、とくに男女の恋愛歌にだけ、多くの名歌を残している。自然描写の名歌はほとんどない。

一方俳句はあまり恋愛歌には適さず、主眼は自然描写である。私は男性であり、恋愛歌は苦手だ。それに私から見て、短歌は「まどろっこしくて」、積極的には書く気にはならず、詩の分量が俳句で収まり切らない時に限り、短歌にしている。

現在、日本は短歌ブームである。自己表現の手段として、短歌を選ぶ若者が多い。俳句はさほど人気がないようだ。

Primary function: To put his victims to sleep by bleating

Designed to put people to sleep by bleating: those who hear it will fall into sleep in seconds, sometimes causing chaos if they're in the middle of something. The sleep appears to be near-permanent, but the victims can be awakened by spraying water in their faces. Other experiments are also affected, but to a lesser extent and eventually wake up on their own. He himself enjoys sleeping as well.
