Not enough people are talking about the LYRICS of Frère Jacques and what it means in the context of Yellowjackets.

Lottie is singing the song to the baby in the dream, almost as if dream!Lottie is trying to get the baby to drink so it will die (eat in a dream, you die. Don’t eat, you live).

The actual old song Frère Jacques is a song about a friar who has overslept and needs to ring the bells. The song is telling him to wake up so that he can ring the bells for the other monks.

Why does he need to ring the bells?

So that the other monks can wake up to pray.

In the context of the scene, the song is literally telling Shauna to wake up and pray to whatever is in the woods. “Wake up and pray to me.” The thing in the woods wants that baby as a blood sacrifice and knows the grief will drive belief.

The cult is about to get much, much worse.

No, but THIS. The show agreed to whatever schedule was laid out, but the way they use the available time? SUCKS. Remember when she was supposed to have “trust issues” after Noah betrayed her? (Let’s not talk about how quickly that story line unfolded, smh.) Remember when we thought house hunting would actually be on screen and not just thrown together at the end of 6A? Remember COUPLES THERAPY??? Still waiting on an answer for why Maddie and Chimney’s careers mean they either spend time together at home or don’t interact at all. Grace and Judd manage just fine. Also, why does Maddie have no *real* friends? Why is it so difficult to write a scene where she has reason to hang out with Henren? Why is she so ISOLATED??? I *hope* JLH asked for something better in 6B because ever since the aftermath of Boston...nothing’s been happening. I’d be embarrassed.
