Tony and Stephen dating was kind of weird for Peter. He’d gotten really close to Tony as they worked together on the suit and with Tony helping him with his homework. Suddenly Stephen was there too. Spending time in the lab with them and working on his own stuff. It wasn’t weird in a bad way, just different from what Peter was used to.

He didn’t dislike Stephen. he talked about the science of magic, which made Peter’s mind spin in circles and he also talked about what his life was like when he was a doctor. It was interesting to watch the two older men interact too. They bickered a lot, but they also had a lot in common. Even though Tony wasn’t a huge fan of magic, he would talk about magical theory with Stephen and they would also talk about science. Peter hadn’t been surprised when they had gotten together.

He liked having three parental figures in his life, though he didn’t realize that Stephen would take him under his wing when he started dating Tony. Peter had Tony had gotten past the awkwardness of acknowledging that there was a familial relationship between them. That Tony was like a father and Peter was like a son. He and Stephen hadn’t had that talk yet, but it had come dangerously close a few times. Peter didn’t want him to feel obligated just because he was dating Tony, but he had become like another father figure. Peter looked up to him and he even joked that the Cloak liked him better than Tony. Stephen hadn’t denied that. Peter was smug about it.

They’d started all going out together. Sometimes they would go out for ice cream. other times they would see a movie or they would walk around a park. Peter even started hanging out with just Stephen. He’d go to the sanctuary just to chat with him or they would listen to music. it endlessly amused Peter how big of a Beyonce fan Wong was. Peter didn’t realize just how close they all were until Stephen told him he wanted to marry Tony.

“You.. Really? You’re gonna ask him!?” Peter asked excitedly. It took all his self control not top jump up and down just a little. He knew how much the two of them loved each other. He knew how happy they made each other.

“Yes, I’d like to ask him. I just...Well i wanted to make sure that you were okay with it.” Stephen explained, sounding nervous.

“Why wouldn’t I be okay with it? Of course I am! You two love each other! Wait... Why would it matter if I wasn’t okay with it?” If the two of them loved each other, why would his opinion matter?

“Well, of course it matters if you’re okay with it! You two... Well you’re close. You’re like a son to him. i know you see him as a father figure and well.. I wanted to have your permission. Well not your permission, just that you’re okay with it. i don’t want you to feel like I’m taking him away from you. i’d like us all to get along.” Stephen seemed to be looking everywhere but him.

“Get along? We get along great!” Peter grinned. “We’re like a little happy family. He’s like a dad to me but... well you kinda are too. If that’s alright. I don’t wanna make it weird.”

Stephen looked at him with a soft smile. “I’m glad you see me that way. I’m quite fond of you after all. I’d like to be like a father to you as well.”

“Great! Good! Glad we have that figured out.” Neither of them liked to talk about feelings so it was better to steam roll through this. “So when are you planning on doing it? How? Do you need help planning? Can I be there to take photos?”

They started planning together, thinking of the best way to do this. Peter was really happy. Now they really would be a family.

Dentist’s Day! I’m a big fan of the dentist. My father was a dentist and when my mother had errands to run, she’d leave me at Dad’s office. I spent hours sitting in his tiny cluttered office, full of dental journals, listening to the whirl of the drill and moans of uncomfortable patients. I spent that time mostly drawing comics, about a dentist superhero, Dr Dad. I also liked to imagine my always gentile dad as Steve Martin’s dentist, Dr Scrivello, in Little Shop of Horrors, inflicting pain in his patents for pleasure.
