artie never finished this game lol. hes kinda still in mid-early game i think? he also doesnt remember what hes doing in here. i think hes planning to restart his save file or make a new one.
oh fuck yeah gravity falls. it was arties first big tv show hyperfixation and were thinking of rewatching it soon :) also when you select the game on the ds menu it plays the last few seconds of the opening theme which is cool. also holy shit we havent played this since 2016 so i started a new save file to preserve that one. i know 12yo artie had a lot of fun with this game :)
interior design is my passion. artie named his character after an old name for one of his ocs which dates this massively lmao. what also dates this is the old lesbian and aro flag in the custom designs. also peep the transhet flag he made. we really loved this game

購入日：2022年8月3日 3,289円 ※セール価格
クリアした日：2022年9月1日
元はPS2で2004年に発売されていて、ドット絵ではない初の3D視点のドラクエでした。
当時、グラフィックも綺麗で新しいドラクエにわくわくしながら始めましたが…クソザコ三半規管持ちな為3D酔いがひどく、ドルマゲスを倒したあたりでやめてしまっていたはず。
一昨年あたりに昔途中でやめたゲームを集中的にやっていましたが、このドラクエ8もいつかやりたいなあと思っていました。
なかなか中古価格が下がらず、PS2はご臨終になり…3DS版をフルプライスで買うか悩んでいたところ、3DSのeショップの閉店セール的なので半額になっており衝動買いしてしまいました。
3DSになって追加されたのは新しい仲間と声優によるフルボイスと追加ダンジョン、追加イベントや3DSのスクショ機能を利用した写真クエストなど。
とりあえず一回普通にクリアしてから、追加ダンジョンをやってミーティアとの結婚ENDを見れたので満足しました。ふつうに感動しちゃった。
気が向いたらゼシカと結婚ENDもやってみようかな。

The Great British Blorbo Off Begins Shortly....
Thanks everyone for waiting so patiently while I take my time sorting this all out! I'm pleased to announce that I've decided on everyone that will be in the tournament, and we will be starting next Monday (16th)! So, here's how it's going to work:
There are 128 characters overall, and I have split them into 4 brackets with two rounds each.
I will be posting 8 polls (1 round) a week, and will reblog them in the middle of the week and at the end of the week.
Once we get down to one character left from each bracket, they will go against each other in semifinals until only two are left.
Winner becomes the new queen of England <3
If anyone that submitted a character has a specific image of them they'd like me to use, feel free to send it over. If you've submitted a character from a book then I will just be using the front cover of the book they're from as their image, so let me know if there's a TV/film version or certain cover you'd like!

Mr. Ichimura has worked on several beloved DQ games as producer, titles such as "Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King", "Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies", or "Dragon Quest of the Stars". His last work at Square Enix will be "Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai: Infinity Strash", which is planned for release worldwide in fall 2023.

Dragon Quest VIII, Journey of the Cursed King, was a major touchstone for the series. Stateside we saw a serious attempt to market the series and push this as an on-ramp to something with a legacy. Bundled it with a Final Fantasy XII demo. This would be the first since the Square Enix merger, DQ was the banner series for the latter if you didn't know. We also get Level-5 as a developer hot off of one of my all-time favorite games, Dark Cloud 2/Dark Chronicle. Man that game is amazing. And so is Dragon Quest VIII, one that will top many favorites lists though it'd be a middle tier one for me.
First, we're in the PS2 era so this is a huge graphical step up. Having Akira Toriyama on board as an art director really gets to shine from here on. Cutscenes are fully voiced and have a lot more movement. There's a double-edged sword here though. You're only going to have a preset four-member party. The story is solid but pretty pedestrian. Like, by this point we've had some solid subversions of the hero's journey. Felt like they just wanted to play that side safe. Yangus, Jessica, & Angelo are all fun though. The skill point system gives room to customize as well.
What you do get to expand on is your monster team. On the overworld you can see some dudes wandering around. They're stronger but you can recruit them. Run them through team battles in an arena and call your team into battle for a few turns. This is not optional; you will need a good one to handle some later bosses. Excellent mechanic. You also get a rudimentary crafting system. IX is going to expand on this a lot more but it works here. All in all, I like VIII. Just wish it would have taken a few more chances.
