DST as DND Update!!!

So it seems like some people are interested in this idea! It’s going to take a while to get everything ready to post, as I want all of the characters to be at the same point in progression. In the meantime, I’ll be sharing some basic information to hold everyone over.

Here's a list of the classes/subclasses I have planned so far! (??? means I haven't figured it out yet, N/A means that the class is not a high enough level to receive a subclass.)

I don't have everything figured out yet, but I have started on some of the sheets. Everything is subject to change, since I have to do more research on the survivors in-game abilities.

I will say, I am most excited for Wes's build, since it's something I've had rolling in my brain for a while now. I love sorcerers and especially wild magic sorcerers. Also Wes is my favorite character so I may be biased.

Okay can someone explain why I've seen some people comparing Wilson and Sweeney Todd? I don't see any similarities but I remember seeing people compare them and I'm pretty sure I've seen Wilson's new barber skin be called a Sweeney Todd skin.

The other day I went in the DST files to go see all the lore “tips” that now show up during loading time (because the game usually loads so damn fast so I don’t get the chance to read it xD) so I leave them here if it can interest someone:

Every now and then I have to remember I got into oni for the gameplay. I bought the game solely because the gameplay looked interesting to me. Even once I realized there was lore I actively decided I didn't care enough to go through it. I fell down the rabbit hole on Accident. ୨୧ You met Mister Demi in his library of course, he was really scared at first, because you were another teacher and he knows how the teachers there were cruel in that school, but... you were surprisingly nice! he even striked an pleasant conversation with you.

୨୧ And thats how you two started to get acquainted, day after day you would stop by the library to have a chat with your new friend who seemed like a (and only) decent person in such depraved place, nice! (bold of you to assume anyone could be normal in that place.)

୨୧ Demi would grow more and more enloved by you and wouldnt really acknowledge it at first, but after some time when his heart is hurting and thumping like crazy in his chest everytime you arent with him.

୨୧ Demi would start to have obsessive thoughts of you after some time when you two start hanging out even when you guys arent in the library, its like the more intimate you become, the more obsessive he becomes.

୨୧ Demi is obsessive, paranoid, dependent, harmless and anxious, he feels like hes going to die whenever you arent with him or when you have to leave him to do something important, he REALLY enjoys your company, sometimes he just wants to grab you by the hand and hold onto you until he thinks its enough.

୨୧ but he really tries to hide the fact that he likes that much, he doesnt wanna seem noisy or annoying to you, because it can make you avoid him and he would be devastated, Demi really overthinks of how you see him, he tries to be perfect to you so you wont leave him, please dont leave him!

୨୧ But Demi knows that wasnt correct and that wasnt the right thing to do if he wanted to stay with you, so he would just let you go, fighting with his frustration, he loves you very much and doesnt know how to deal with that.

୨୧ Demi often writes in a book everything he feels about you, so he would not take the risk of his losing his cool and doing something that will push you away from him and his grasp, so he would just deposit every little sick obsession he has in his book who probably by now would have 20 pages of his feelings about you. (minimum)

୨୧ Demi would be VERY touch starved, he often would find lots of excuses just to get you to end up touching him, even if its a minimal, the librarian even fakes crying so he could feel your hug for a prolongated time since he asks for that for "comfort". Basically: he isnt crying, hes just creating reasons.

୨୧ The librarian man would try to keep his red flags down so he doesnt risks on you catching on his troubling lovingly passion for you, that would probably push you away and he really doesnt want that

୨୧ But the red flags would start to lift up when Demi starts acting more and more erratic the more you two get intimate, like, he starts to get weirdly dissapointed whenever you have to leave and asks you lots of questions of where you are going and why even if its the room right next to the libraryor how he started to cling up to an extenct where hes almost climbing on ur back.

୨୧ If you found his book, he would be really scared, fuck scared, he'd be terrified, because he knows that everything he wrote in that book was not ethical, you would probably find his book in the library balcony where he forgot to hide it.

୨୧ if you do try to leave him, he would fucking breakdown, that polite and shy facade replaced by a lovesick and obsessive Demi, that was not the Demi you knew, the Demi that was clinging to your knee and begging to you not leave him was a totally different Demi you met.

♡What are they generally like? Lucid, aware? Obsessive? How do they behave? Ada is extremely deceptive towards her darling, you won’t know the full extent of her affections unless she wants you too. She’s a con, and her skills won’t go wasted on her darling. Ada’s courting of her darling is very forward, she’s able to seduce women easily so she believes her darling shouldn’t be any different. She gets a rush from being around her darling, she thrives off of the chase almost as much as Ada does with the catch. She feels a rare comfort from her darling’s presence, one she hasn’t felt in so long and she won’t let that go. Ada still continues out her scams on rich women, but with different intentions. With the new comfort of her darling Ada no longer feels the want of a new body in her bed every week, soly leaning on her s/o for the much needed comfort they provide now. ♡How likely are they to kidnap their darling? How quickly will they do so? She will only resort to kidnapping if her courting fails. Ada isn’t quick to take her darling, she prefers a darling who wants to be with her, but if all her tactics fail she has no choice but to act. ♡How difficult is it to escape from them? How do they keep you restrained? How do they deal with attempted escape? Ada is very apologetic after she's taken her darling, but that won’t make her any more lenient. Starting off her darling can expect to be heavily restrained in the beginning, she only offers freedoms once she sees her darling can behave. Whilst it's not easy to escape Ada by any means, it's far from impossible. She often leaves you alone, whether or not she trusts you enough unbound depends on how well behaved you've been. In the beginning there won’t be much punishment for attempted escapes and defiance, but the more you act out the more likely she is to punish you. She could never bring herself to hit you as punishment, but you can expect things like isolation and starvation.

♡How easy are they to trick, deceive, or manipulate? Trying to trick Ada is nearly pointless, chances are she sees through what you're trying to do. Depending on how innocent your manipulation is depends on whether she punishes you for it. It's best not to try, the cons outweigh the pros.

♡How lenient are they? What privileges can you have, and what will you be denied? She’s more lenient with a well behaved darling, the more willing you are to give her affections the more willing she is to give you freedoms. Her darling can expect things like less restraints when they can show Ada just how well behaved they can be. Ada is happy to provide books and more lavish items for her darling, as long as they don’t bring up the question of freedom to her.

♡What kind of rules do they have? What kind of punishment would they use? Ada doesn’t have many rules, but she’s strict about the ones she does have. You obviously can’t attempt to leave her, or mention wanting to, she loves you but she just doesn’t want to hear it. If you use violence against her, as much as she doesn’t want to, she will retaliate if you force her hand. Her punishments affect her darling more mentally than they do physically, and she won’t lay a hand on her darling unless they start it. If her darling decides to act up they can expect their privileges to be revoked temporarily or taken away all together. For more severe infractions she’ll fall back on starving her darling, not to the extent it would affect her darling long term physically of course. She rarely uses isolation unless she believes she absolutely needs to, she doesn’t like being apart from her darling much, but if she believes it's necessary for them to learn she will.

♡How do they deal with rivals, or perceived rivals? Will they get rid of them? Will they kill them themselves, or find another way? Typically she’ll resort to intimidation to scare the offender off, but if they decided to be persistent she’d have no issue just killing them.

♡How easy is it to make them mad? What does their anger look like? Ada is very slow to anger, it takes a lot to push past her limits. Rarely ever is it her darling who sets her off, however when it is she never lets her darling see it.

♡Do they see you as above them, beneath them, or equal to them? She definitely doesn’t see you as an equal, you’re like a pet to her. You’re with her for her own comfort, whether you like it or not of course. She’ll hear what you’d like to say to an extent, but she’ll only pay so much heed to your words.

♡How determined are they for you to love them? How hard will they try to make it happen? Or are they content just having you? As much as she’d like for her feelings to be reciprocated, it's not something she's immediately worried about. She's confident she can make you love her over time. ♡General perverseness: how sexual of a person are they? What’s their drive like? How touchy do they get? Do they have any reservations about sexuality? She has a high sex drive and she's very forward with her darling about it. first impression: me furiously searching for her height on the wiki + nodding my head sagely deciding woman with sleepy eyes is peak character design (faust included). i trust her wholeheartedly even if she leads me hand in hand into a woodchipper

current impression: waiting for projmoon to drop more lore on her desperately because i know canto 2 wasnt everything. i feel a disconnect with the fanbase about her because i see rodya characterized sooooo differently than how i think of her. the gambling thing and her effortless confidence for example isnt really questioned like how it is with dons bravado. i see her gambling as an outlet for her complicated views on money. she feels as though being financially 'secure' as the lone survivor as a betrayal to all the deaths she caused. gambling not only aligns with her current im the hottest shit attitude but also is a way for her to not be responsible for money. the hoarding of wealth is what caused her community to starve, why would she want to do something that seems to harm others? shes very self destructive, and feigning as slots star is just one of the ways she forces herself to 'stay in the cold'. ummmmmmmmm anyway im really normal about rodya and think about her a normal amount also her love for decadant food really resonates with me as someone who was poor in childhood because the difference between eating to live and living to eat is Astronomical

story idea: i want her to play poker against yi sang because hes weird and also his poker face is like. genuine and dear adoration for being able to play with his companions because deep in his soul is gardens and butterflies. she would be so freaked out not only because this guy agreed to playing poker but also because he is invasively (he didnt mean it) staring into her SOUL to find solutions

im writing an au that is supposed to include everyone in the dsmp. but i am a humble enjoyer and dont know about lots of characters, purpled included. can i get a guidebook to writing cpurpled? any tropes to avoid, motivations you see people getting wrong, etc?

okay so. purpled is Interesting bc there's a lot of depth to his character in the sense that he himself is not self-aware of his own actions/wants, making for there being three purpleds: the purpled that he shows to others, the purpled he feels he is, and the true purpled he himself isn't even fully aware of. and depending on how deep you wanna explore into his character, that third one likely won't even come into play, because that is more of an instance of a character study/purpled-centric piece, but i'll go over it anyways, just in case! splitting this into parts below the cut to make categorizing things a bit easier :]

first, the basics:

purpled has a very. unique way of talking. in serious moments, he's calm, collected, and intimidating, and will act like you'd expect a broody teenaged mercenary to. most of the time, though, his speech pattern is the world's most ungodly mixture of teenage boy and starving victorian orphan.

in fight or flight, he chooses fight 100% of the time, even if that fight is not immediate.

purpled only cares about a handful of things: self-preservation, his image, and money. this doesn't necessarily mean he won't do "good" things, just that his motives are less about saving people and more about advancing his own agenda. during the red banquet, for example, he only saved the attendants because he was paid to. eret called him a hero for it, but it was nothing more than a matter of who paid more. his morals are extremely skewed,

but he's not inherently malicious. he's indifferent. his actions are logical, not emotional, so despite harming others for his own gain, he typically holds no ill-will towards them. for example, the wiki cites that he and bad have a negative relationship for betraying the eggpire during the banquet, but in reality, purpled really doesn't see bad in anything but a neutral way. there are very few people he holds either positive or negative emotions towards, as his default state is indifferent, but willing to go along with the other person's emotions if they pay enough.

the only people he does feel a semblance of strong emotions towards are: hannah, boomer, ponk, tubbo, jack, and quackity. he has positive personal relationships with hannah, boomer, ponk, and tubbo, seeing them as genuine friends. additionally, ponk, tubbo, and jack are fellow businessmen, which he very much admires. quackity, of course, is the one person on the list he has overtly negative feelings towards, something that possibly extended towards slime after the ln finale, as well. he has an Odd relationship with tommy in the sense that they're somewhat rivals, but not in the usual fandom sense where "oh they secretly care about each other because they're sworn rivals". purpled would sell tommy to satan for a single cornchip and not even blink. there's also dogchamp, his dog, which is i think the one True attachment he's ever had on the server.

business is very important to him! purpled only really cares to talk to people who he sees on a similar intellectual level as him, and business is the closest way to his heart, as seen with his relationship with ponk.

anyone he doesn't see on his level is "lesser". this is specifically highlighted with his viewpoint on slime, as he sees slime as nothing but a child who can't fend for himself and has to rely on quackity for everything. this viewpoint is, obviously, extremely untrue, because purpled is an unreliable narrator in every sense of the word.

he's very smart and extremely capable. if he sets his mind to something, he Will accomplish it through any means necessary, even at the cost of others.

he is also. just sillie. at least around those he trusts or is pretending to allow to get close to him (like fundy in ln). he pulls stupid pranks for stupid prizes. he's just a boy that really loves his dog. he's the server's strongest warrior yet he runs screaming from boomer because they threatened to child-leash him. do not be afraid to make him a freak (because trust me he Is one)

some deeper stuff! all of these things are unspoken, and things he himself is not aware of. a dive into his subconscious thoughts, if you will. if you're writing something deeper with him, these are things i recommend alluding towards/highlighting, but in a sense that only the audience is aware of. they're not things that should be Explicitly Stated, at least not by him/his pov. purpled has little to no true self-awareness, and when he does have moments of introspection, he Still manages to fuck that up, which i'll be getting into

purpled does not really feel any negative emotions other than rage and spite. or, more accurately, he doesn't let himself feel anything other than rage or spite. when lamenting about his loneliness on the server, he immediately spins it into a revenge plot, believing it'll be solved as soon as he gets his just desserts. he does feel and process positive emotions, it's just negative ones he pushes aside for the sake of anger.

this is because, inherently, purpled does not believe he is in the wrong. ever. everything is always the fault of others, which is why he results to anger, because that's what happens when he pushes blame onto other people. he doesn't ever accept that his actions can be detrimental to himself, and that his issues are always the fault of others. for example, he believes that the reason his legacy on the server was "ruined" was because of quackity's intervention. while quackity's destruction of his ufo certainly didn't help, purpled's core issue was himself. his own self-isolation is what started the downfall of his legacy, and his continued isolation is what sealed its fate.

his inability to process his true emotions/wants makes him very prone to self-sabotage, although he believes the path he chooses is the right one. due to quackity's intervention, he believes that he wants a legacy to have power and to be remembered. when he laid out his issues, however, his biggest hang-up was that "if he asked people on the server to name three things about him, none of them could". deep down, what he wanted was a sense of connection, of building a legacy through the bonds formed with others, but he was unable to realize that.

he's so fucking stupid. all of this is me trying to say he's a fucking idiot. he has the emotional capacity of a pet rock with angry eyebrows drawn onto it. he's hypocritical and not even aware of it. i don't think he has the emotional ability to know what hypocrisy is.

the most important thing, though, is to not woobify him into the "manipulated minors" trope. purpled was not manipulated, and although his age plays into the tragedy of his character on a meta-level, it has no true importance to his actions/story. and although i gush about him a lot, and there are reasons to why he acts the way he does, he is not a good person. i can explain why he does what he does all i want, but at his core he is flawed and antagonistic. that's what makes him so good!! he is not a good person, he knows he's not a good person, and unless he's purposefully playing that role in order to deceive someone, he doesn't pretend to be one, and is up-front with others about that fact.

It has come to my attention, by my own means, that the writers of 2012 must’ve been idiots, or didn't do a lot of research. And i’ve been hyper fixating on alligators recently (Again, for the 50th time this month- The grind dont stop lmao)

SO, Let's talk about what all the creators got wrong about leatherhead in his design and behavior!!

Buckle in boys, this is a long read

Starting off, The design:

In this image, you can see quite a lot of leatherheads design, the sharp, more V shaped snout, webbed feet and hands, green mottled skin with a cream underbelly, and his famous white ‘rage’ eyes. It’s an.. ok design to me. But I can address opinions later, right now we stick to the facts.

Leatherhead is stated to be canonicaly an Alligator in the wiki, and is called an Alligator by Mikey (quote: “He’s a giant, kraang crushing mutant Alligator monster!”). So, we’d assume that the writers based his design off of an American Alligator for the show, yes?

That's where we’re wrong. Leatherhead, in his design and behavior alone, shows a mix of Alligator traits and looks, as well as Crocodile traits and looks. Now don't get me wrong, Alligators and Crocodiles do look similar. Key word, similar. There’s a large handful of ways to differentiate the two species’ though (With both appearance and behavior). These differences will be listed below.

ONE: Alligators have a more U shaped snout, with a smaller bottom jaw. Their teeth tend to stick out more due to this, while Crocodiles have a more V shaped snout. Their jaws are even sized, allowing the teeth to interlock and become less visible.

TWO: Alligators have webbed feet and hands, while Crocodiles do not.

THREE: Alligators tend to be darker colored (Grey and black) With a more cream colored underside, while Crocodiles have more Green, mottled skin all around.

FOUR: Alligators tend to only really be aggressive when threatened or during their mating season (Spring-summer), While Crocodiles are much, MUCH more aggressive year-round.

FIVE: Alligators grow to be smaller than Crocodiles, Reaching a minimum 8 ft in length in adulthood, while Crocodiles grow to a minimum 11-12 feet in adulthood, and Crocodiles never stop growing.

SIX: Alligators are faster in and out of water than Crocodiles are.

SEVEN: Alligators tend to be more pasive when not threatened, and arent social animals, unlike Crocodiles who are more aggressive, and more social.

These are the main ways to tell Alligators and Crocodiles apart, though you don't have to go through the criteria like a checklist. Looking at the snout shape is usually enough to tell. I listed these all to say.. Leatherhead is like a frankenstein mix of Crocodiles and Alligators. He has the snout of a Crocodile, his jaws are even, but his teeth stick out like an Alligators. He has webbed feet like an Alligators, yet he can be quite slow on land and water like a Crocodile. He has a mix of their color schemes (Green and mottled, cream underside). It’s almost as if The writers just took whatevers coolest from both animals and smashed them together. Which feels.. Kinda insulting? That may be my ‘Tisim speaking, but A little extra research would have yielded us a much more accurate Leatherhead.

But speaking of accuracies, let's talk about how INACCURATE leatherhead is all around.

First, his arms. I don't know what I specifically have against his arms (And his legs, let's be honest), But they feel so.. wrong. It makes him look malnourished, being so beefy everywhere else and then having relative sticks for upper arms and thighs. Alligators are chonky, and so are Crocodiles. If the writers wanted to make leatherhead look like he’s starving, or emaciated, they shouldn't have added such big biceps and large forearms and legs.

His midsection gets this kind of treatment too, when that should be the biggest part of him!!

Then, we have how he fights and attacks. I am more willing to be lenient on these inaccuracies, since leatherhead is a MUTANT, and has at least a little human thought in him. But, continuing on, Alligators and Crocodiles are ambush predators, they hide in the water and strike when prey is unsuspecting. This would, in theory, peg leatherhead as more of a stealth fighter. Striking once with deadly accuracy and power. But the show paints him as a rough barbarian type brawler. He’s loud (He roars. I don't even need to discuss that sin further.), he’s slow, and a heavy hitter.

Then we have his ‘special’ move, the death roll

...Which is completely misused. The death roll is a tactic used by Alligators and Crocodiles to rip flesh from their prey. Leatherhead in the show uses it only once (I believe) To go after raph and attack him while ‘feral’*.

*SIDE NOTE: I will be using the term feral whenever leatherhead has an episode where he turns violent and his eyes glaze over white.

Now let's also talk about how leatherhead sounds! This is one of the parts I like about his 2012 design. He hisses, which is a warning/aggressive sign in Alligators and Crocodiles, a way of saying “Back up before I bite you.”

But aside from that, it's kind of lackluster. I already mentioned the roaring... god the roaring- it is not physically possible for Alligators and Crocodiles to roar. They don't have the vocal muscles for it. Instead, they bellow. I’d look it up on youtube, it's an amazing sound! Now bellowing can also be used like hissing, as a warning, or to attract a mate. It goes both ways. But sadly I don't think we ever hear leatherhead bellow. We’ll hear him grumble, but not bellow.

All of this kinda ties into a mish mash Hollywood monster that is leatherhead. And, while I still love him, I will be FOREVER angry that the writers and design crew didn't do more research and make him look more accurate.

But that isn't the worst part. They don't just make him look goofy, they underpower him!! time and time again we see leatherhead thrown around by opponents smaller than him (Splinter, Shredder). When this shouldn't be the case. Alligators and Crocodiles can be lightning fast, whipping around and striking quickly with enough energy. And they aren't easily thrown, even if their opponent knows how to shift one's weight to their advantage.

And speaking of the shredder, LEATHERHEAD SHOULD HAVE KILLED HIM. Alligators have a bite force of 2000 POUNDS PER SQUARE INCH. That's over triple the bite force of a lion! But in the show, it looks like leatherhead just gums Shredder a few times! that man should be ripped in half! And originally, I thought it may be because of the shredder's armor. NO. Alligators and Crocodiles can bite through steel BARS. They can survive small caliber bullets! So leatherhead shouldn't struggle to bite a human man in half!!!

Now, looking at splinters fight, the two are slightly more evenly matched. If it weren't for the fact that splinter can THROW leatherhead across a room!! That should NOT. BE. POSSIBLE. Alligators can reach up to 1000 pounds in weight as full grown adults, and leatherhead should weigh MUCH more than that after being mutated! these two fights should have been easy wins for Leatherhead! But I suppose that's just more evidence that tmnt 2012 wasn't written too well, and their characters were... not that good. I love the show, i love LEATHERHEAD. But god the inaccuracies and the bad writing and the bad fights just... Ugh, it's tiring. To me it is at least, but i'm just a kid hyper fixated on cartoon ninja mutants and Alligators lmao.

Approximately when some of the DST characters were born

(Reminder this is all speculation!! And since we don’t have an age range for some of the characters, I will have to guesstimate*)

(OKAY SO… This has been in my drafts for a year-ish.. I planned to do more characters but lost my motivation, and now I am finally posting it)

Wilson: Born sometime around 1887-1891 on April 23. Probably born in Europe and possibly immigrated to America some time before he was taken.

He has been stated to be in his early 30’s in a Klei facebook message/post (I dont really know how to describe it) on June 17, 2014

Wilson was also canonically taken into the constant in the year 1921. This is stated in a rough timeline made by Klei developer Kevin Forbes on September 25, 2014. He is in his early 30’s (30-34) and taken in 1921, 1921 minus 34 is 1887 and 1921 minus 30 is 1891 so he was born around those years. It isn’t really set in stone if he is European or not, but it is sorta hinted to. On January 7, 2014 in a Facebook conversation it is stated that he is “roughly designed as a European, maybe a European USA Immigrant”

Willow: Possibly born around 1887-1891 on May 7. She was orphaned at a young age and then sent to an orphanage, then she burnt it down.

This was a lot harder to figure out, and with new lore always coming this birth year speculation may be proven wrong. As seen above in the first image Willow is in her early 20’s. (Also, Willow was first said to be in her Late teens, and then later said to be in Early 20’s. Personally I take the early 20’s to be more canon as it was said at a more recent time than the first age.) There is no set in stone time for when she was taken. With the knowledge of the date Wickerbottom was taken (March 29, 1911, said in the timeline I linked above ^^) we can assume she was taken sometime between 1911-1921 (1921 is when Maxwell takes in Wilson, presumably his last victim) She was probably taken not to long after Wickerbottom was taken because Willow in the constant looks the same as Willow in Wickerbottoms animation. 1911 minus 20 is 1891 and 1911 minus 24 is 1887.

Wendy: Born November 11, 1903.

I got this birth year from the timeline and it is also stated in Wendy's Dont Starve wiki page The reason the year chosen is 1903 is because “Wendy is stated to be between 8 and 10 years old. This range can be narrowed down by examining various dates from the William Carter puzzles and the image of her nightstand. Jack's letter in the third William Carter puzzle, which mentions the twins, must have been written no later than the August 1904 dates from the fourth puzzle. This means that Wendy and Abigail were born no later than August 1904. Additionally, Wendy's diary entry, which was likely written before she entered the Constant, has a date of April 16, 1914. Since Wendy's birthday is in November, her only possible date of birth is November 11, 1903.” This text is taken from the wiki linked above. ^^ If we take her diary entry and her birth year and do some math, we can figure out that Wendy is 10 years old and 5 months when she was taken into the constant.
