Of Curses and Kisses by Sandhya Menon. 🥀 My second read for Disney-a-thon!
My quick thoughts:
The elite boarding school setting was intriguing, but I found myself wishing there were more Beauty and the Beast elements.

August TBR (Disneyathon and ARC August!)
My August TBR is a little intimidating. Check out my latest blog post to see all the books I'm going to try and read this month, as I attempt ARC August and the Disney Readathon
I may have bitten off more than I can chew.
This month, I want to participate in two challenges:
ARC August, where you try and trim down your TBR and read as many ARCs as you can (more info here)
The Disney-readathon, where you pick a team and try to complete challenges to earn points (more info here)
I know that I won’t be able to reach all my goals, but I’m going to spend the next month…

Tips for Making Friends in the Online Book Community
I’ve seen so many posts on Twitter, Instagram, and even YouTube lately about being unsure how to make friends in the online book community. Whether feeling left out of BookTube squads or feeling hesitant to reach out to bloggers you admire, making friends here can be really hard!
All this being said, I’m an extrovert and the online book community is full of wonderful people – I’ve gotten to know some absolutely amazing bloggers, BookTubers, and bookstagrammers! Here are some handy-dandy tips on making friends in the online book community:
Find a Fandom/Niche
If there’s a fandom you’re crazy for or enjoy geeking out about, chances are that there are other people who are the same! A great way to make friends in the online book community is looking for content within a fandom or niche you already enjoy!
Engage with Other’s Content
One of the best aspects of the online book community is that it is constantly growing, with bloggers, BookTubers, and bookstagrammers posting content on a daily basis. While it can be intimidating to interact with someone you admire, they’re all just people too! Interacting consistently and engaging with content creators is a great way to show that you admire their work and respect what they do! I’ve found this especially helps on Twitter and bookstagram but it’s nice to support your favorites no matter which platform.
Shoutout Your Recent Favs
If you’re following others in the book community, it’s likely that you have some favorite channels, pages, feeds, and/or creators. Giving these people shoutouts – even if it’s a quick “hey, I really enjoyed your last video about *insert topic here*!” – is a great way to kick off a conversation.

Join a Buddy Read Group
Commonly found on book Twitter, buddy reads are when you read along with a group a book and chat about what’s happened in the recent chapters. The groups usually range from those who’ve never read the book before to those who want to reread it for fun! If you can’t find a buddy read to join, try creating your own!
Join a Readathon
This tip is geared more towards BookTube and Twitter, but there have been readathons on the other platforms as well! Readathons are highly popular reading sprints (majority being month-long) where participants can pick teams and read books based on prompts. Some work on point systems, some work on pages read, and others use different systems entirely! Readathons are an incredible way to join a community and make friends, especially with those in your own team who are reading books with the same prompts!
Celebrityreadshush and I are currently hosting Disneyathon, a month-long readathon starting August 1st! This is the second annual Disneyathon and we’re super thrilled for this year’s turnout. In our readathon, there are teams Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Princess and the Frog, and Hercules. It’s an absolutely wonderful time reading alongside everybody with prompts like “read a book with a grand adventure.” I’m so excited!

I’m on Twitter (@natureofpages), Instagram (@thenatureofpages), and YouTube (The Nature of Pages) for all the bookish geekery!
See you next week!

It’s been quite some time since July’s wrap up post, and despite feeling that August moved by so quickly, it still seems as though July was eons ago. I got so much done this past month. Granted, that Goodreads challenge update does include five books I read since September began, but it’s still a pretty impressive feat.
I can’t believe it’s September already. It feels like August was barely a blip in time with how fast it went by. And honestly, a part of me feels kind of exhausted. I can’t believe how much I got done this past month. In thirty-one days I managed to read 32 books and write 28 reviews. Now, I’ll say that the Disneyathon and NetGalley’s Reviewathon likely played a role in how much reading and reviewing I managed to get done, but I’m still pretty proud of it.
For the month of August, the best book that I read is hands down Lisa Maxwell’s The Last Magician. I didn’t expect to be blown away by this book when I picked it up as the Group Book for the Disneyathon. Fortunately, this book was filled with a magic that amazed me beyond belief and I’m so incredibly glad that I was brought to read it.
Snitchy Witch [Frank J. Sileo]
All in the Same Boat [Wilkie J. Martin]
The Orchid Throne [Jeffe Kennedy]
Science in a Jar [Julia Garstecki]
The Best Friend Problem [Mariah Ankenman]
Moth & Whisper [Ted Anderson]
Rose [Denis Lapière and Émilie Alibert]
How to Catch a Dragon [Adam Wallace]
The Class [Frances O’Roark Dowell]
No Room for a Pup [Elizabeth Suneby]
Unplugged and Unpopular [Mat Heagerty]
A is for Apricat [Mauro Gatti]
Life As We Knew It [Susan Beth Pfeffer]
My Best Friend Runs Venus [Katrina S. Forest]
Gaia Blues [Gud]
Birthday [Meredith Russo]
The Last Magician [Lisa Maxwell]
Mama Bird Lost an Egg [Evelyne Fournier]
Mooncakes [Suzanne Walker]
One is a Lot (Except When it’s Not) [Muon Thi Van]
BHC Press 2019 Young Adult Teen Fiction Sampler [Various Authors]
The Grace Year [Kim Liggett]
Under Pressure [Tanya Lloyd Kyi]
Join the No-Plastic Challenge [Scot Ritchie]
It Started with a Big Bang [Floor Bal]
A Curse so Dark and Lonely [Brigid Kemmerer]
Aya and Papaya Learn to Imagine [MQ]
Stuck With You [Christina Mandelski]

And in that August, I Swear We Were Infinite #bookblogs #bookbloggers "...I can't believe it's September already, but for the month of August, the best book I read is hands down Lisa Maxwell's..." It's been quite some time since July's wrap up post, and despite feeling that August moved by so quickly, it still seems as though July was

Disney-A-Thon Wrap Up!
The Disney Read-A-Thon is over, and I'm not sure if I *technically* completed it or not. Check out my blog to see my wrap up, and let me know if you think it counts as a win!
Tumblr media
Disney is kinda my brand (outside of books, that is). I’m known at work as the girl who always wears Disney dresses, I cosplay as Disney Princesses, I’m a Disney Vacation Club Member and I visit Disney World almost every year, and my house was literally designed after Disney.
Needless to say, I was excited to do this Disney-A-Thon.
Especially because I was going to Disney this month.

August Favorites + My September TBR!
I can't believe it's already September. But at least that means I can talk about my favorite books I read in August! Check out my blog to see them, plus my September TBR!
I had a busy month is August, but despite that, I managed to read 10 books! I focused a lot on the Disney-A-Thon in August, (I even did some of my reading is Disney World!), so while I’ll talk about some of my favorites now, I’ll be posting a full Disney-A-Thon wrap up soon!
I started August off strong, but I definitely fell behind on my goals. That said, I’m still happy to have read 10…

July Favorites, Reading Rush Wrap Up, + My August TBR!
I talked about quite a bit on my blog today. If you want to see how I did in The Reading Rush, plus some of my favorite july reads, and my august tbr- click the link!!
I think I finally did it. I think I beat my reading slump.
It only took me… five months. But I did it!!!
July was a surprisingly good month for me. At this point, I had given up all hope and thought that I would never regain the motivation to read like I had, but then came The Reading Rush.
Readathons scare me. A lot. So I had never done one before. I never liked the idea of pushing…

My Disney-A-Thon TBR + A Useful Spreadsheet
I just posted my Disney-A-Thon TBR!!! (plus I included a link to the spreadsheet that I made to plan out the readathon)(let me know if you use it and/or would like more bookish spreadsheets!)
I used to be terrified of readathons. Making a strict TBR and sticking to it had always intimidated me, and honestly, it still does. But then I joined the Reading Rush last month, and actually had a really good time (even though I didn’t read all 7 books). So now, I’m hoping to do the same thing with the Disney-A-Thon.
I mean, Disney kinda is the one true love of my life, so I feel like I have…
