Something I found really interesting in Three Houses and Three Hopes is the insight we get on Edelgard and Dimitri's viewpoints on reforms and how to do them.
In her C support with Dorothea, to the question "can you really do that ?" (only keep the useful nobles and get rid of the useless ones, making people able to rise in station based on their merits instead of their family name), Edelgard answers "it's not a matter of can or cannot, it's a matter of doing it and doing it right".
In Three Hopes, when news reach Dimitri of Edelgard's declaration of war on the Central Church, he says he admires her reforms, but that it isn't wise to rush them so much because "if you force reforms down people's throats, they will revolt".
Their viewpoints are educated ones, based on their experiences and how their countries work : Edelgard saw her father lose all his power to the seven main noble families because they managed to do their coup "right" and basically overtake the country, so if she does her own thing "right", she can also achieve her goals, no matter what they are. Dimitri, however, was traumatised by the Tragedy of Duscur, which was orchestrated by outside forces, yes, but was still the revolt of a population against a ruler, which led to the ruler's death and the population being massacred, not to mention the coup against him when it is time for him to take the throne and his uncle doesn't agree, which, to my understanding, basically led to a civil war (I haven't gotten to that part in AM and haven't played AG yet, so I don't really know about the details).
Both of them are right : Edelgard accused the Central Church of corruption and having too much power, which was also part of the official reason behind the Insurrection of the Seven, while also reviving the Southern Church so the believers in the Empire would still have a higher power to look up to for guidance. She did her thing right and from what we know of the two games and their future, it seems like it works out for her. But Dimitri is also right in that implementing big reforms against the population's desires can lead to revolt, and though it's very unlikely to be a real threat without outside influence to organise and weaponise it, like we see in Three Hopes with the revolts in Hrym and Ordelia territory, it's still going to cause casualties Dimitri wants to avoid.
So even if Dimitri wanted to implement the same reforms as Edelgard (which isn't the case, let's be clear about that, he admires her policies but that doesn't mean he wants to put an end to noble houses and inheritance since he and the other Faerghus nobles firmly believe in the necessity for people wielding Crests and Heroes' relics to be in charge to protect their country), he wouldn't actually do it, or at least not immediately, but waiting for the right time to implement reforms is opening yourself up to the risk of never having the chance to do it, leaving it to the next generation who might also never find the right time, etc, etc, and things will never change, or not as much as you want, not to mention the risk of someone with different values than yours taking power and making things worse. Dimitri's way is more peaceful, but at a pretty high risk of failing, while Edelgard's way has more chances of success but necessitates to sacrifice countless lives in war.

prompt for childhood enemies dimileth!!!
When Byleth was 6 years old, and Jeralt left her in the care of an inkeeper while he was doing merc jobs, a traveling caravan of rich people arrived to the inn, and she heard an ugly rich bowlcut blonde baby say his dad was the strongest and could beat anybody's dad and she choose violence.
Someone had to put the bowlcut in his place and make him understand Jeralt was the strongest.
Dimitri didn't want to fight back for his crest until Byleth called him a wussy... which is a word the mercs used around her and she didn't know what it meant.
(she fondly recalls this story as the first time she won a fight)
(dimitri still has bite scars from the incident and was very scared of girls for a long time)
(gustave was worried sick a commoner kid got the crown prince rabbies)
(they haven't connected the dots)
(This is the same anon who hates Dimitri's hair)
(hello dear dimitri's hair hater anon, i loved this prompt a lot! i changed some little points in the narration, but the main plotis the one you wrote. i really hope you'll like this :3)
wordcount: 1.2k
Byleth was extremely bored. Jeralt— no, he said to call him dad— Dad went to do some cool mercenary stuff he said were 'too dangerous' for Byleth to attend. How silly! She was perfectly capable of taking care of enemies. She had the best teacher in the world, after all; the Blade Breaker’s abilities were well known along all Fodlan.
Of course, she was still only six, while her father was… How many years old was Jeralt again? She realised she didn’t know exactly. Probably the same age all dads were. Like three-hundred years old or something like that.
Byleth frowned. Did she need to wait three-hundred years to become as powerful as Jeralt? No, it was too far away from now! The little girl stood up. She needed to go training now.
She went out the little inn where Jeralt— Dad left her some days ago, heading for that nice spot she found out the day before to train with her new super powerful sword. (Well, wood sword. After the last time Byleth tried to train by herself, she almost chopped her own leg, so Jeralt took precautions by giving her a weapon that 'woudn’t hurt his precious little girl'. How melodramatic! But he chose it precisely for her. It was special. She wasn’t gonna break it!)
Her wandering gaze stopped when she noticed some people a few meters from her. She frowned. A tall guy with dark hair and a younger blonde boy with an ugly bowlcut were talking under a tree, the very tree of her perfect nice training spot.
She frowned again. As people said, Byleth wasn’t… the best at social interactions. She didn’t like talking to people, especially strangers. And she hated when she had to. Like this moment. She needed those two to get out of her new special training spot. She needed to train! To become more powerful! Like, right now!
The urge to train was bigger than her despise for talking to strangers, so she got closer to the tree, holding hard her sword. Byleth repeated in her mind Jeralt— Dad’s lessons about how ‘not to be too scary with other people’. She had to act nice.
“Hi. Get out of my training spot”.
A greeting! Super nice. ‘Good job, me’, she thought, pleased with herself.
The taller boy looked at her with surprise, but his expression quickly changed in a smile. “Hello, you fellow warrior”, he said in a condescending tone, winking.
Ugh. That was one of the thing Byleth hated the most: grown-ups treating her like she was just a little child!
“Get out, I said! I need to train”, she said, pointing at her sword.
Bowlcut boy frowned. “But you’re too young to train by your own!”
“What?!” Byleth exclaimed to him, annoyed.
“Yes! My dad says children shouldn’t fight until they grow up. And you look almost my age! So, you can’t train”, Bowlcut boy explained, nodding.
Byleth crossed her arms. “It doesn’t make sense! My dad helps me train since I was… younger than you!”
Bowlcut boy looked troubled. “Why does you dad train you?”
“Because I want to become strong, and he’s the strongest mercenary of all Fodlan!”, Byleth said with a hint of pride.
Now Bowlcut boy looked annoyed. “That’s not true! My dad is the strongest one! Glenn, tell her!” he added, looking at the taller annoying guy.
Tall-annoying guy was watching at them holding a hand over his mouth as if he wanted to hide it, slightly shaking. Then he proceeded to burst into laughter, hitting the ground with his fist, without saying a thing.
Byleth frowned. What a weird guy.
Bowlcut boy frowned too, but apparently he decided to let the matter drop, as he looked at Byleth again. “My dad is stronger! He has big muscles, and he’s the only one that can use a super uper big powerful spear!” Then he looked down at Tall-annoying guy, who was still on the floor. “Glenn! Tell her!”
The guy tried to stop laughing, but miserably failed. “So… sorry, Dimitri… you’ll have to… deal with her yourself… PUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!”
Byleth crossed her arms; then, she got an idea. “Let’s settle this with a fight. However wins, has the strongest dad!”
Bowlcut boy’s eyes widened. “N… no! I can’t! I’ll hurt you!”
Byleth was really annoyed now: how dared that little brat imply he could beat her?!
She lifted her sword, pointing at Bowlcut boy. “Prepare yourself!”
“Oh, fuck!” Tall-annoying guy stopped laughing and stood up between them. “Ok, party’s over. Let’s try to get along, shall we?”
Bowlcut boy sighed in relief. Byleth sticked her tongue out, looking at him. “Your dad’s just a… wussy!”
Byleth really liked the word ‘wussy’. The way it sounded was funny. She didn’t exactly know the meaning, but Jeralt’s mercenaries often used it when someone was arguing (usually when drinking that weird ‘grown-ups fruit juice’) with some other of the band, getting the latter very angry. And Byleth wanted to make Bowlcut boy angry.
And she succeded! Bowlcut boy’s eyes widened, and he proceeded to run towards her. Byleth was ready, and promptly dodged the boy. She grabbed his arm, and sinked her teeth in it.
The boy screamed in pain until Tall-annoying boy managed to pull him away. “Shit shit shit! What the hell is wrong with you two?!” he said in a high-pitched tone. Bowlcut boy started crying.
‘Pathetic’, Byleth thought.
“Okay, little girl, we’re leaving, but promise me you’ll stay away from Dimitri!” Tall-annoying guy said, while taking Bowlcut boy in his arms. “We’re leaving soon anyway, so forget about this and do not tell anyone!” he added, going inside the inn, without waiting for Byleth to respond. “Shit! I did tell Gustave I’m not a good babysitter…” she heard him muttering, while Bowlcut boy was still crying.
She looked at the now closed door for a few seconds more, then turned around. “Okay. Melee training for day: done. I should practice with my sword now…”
“You did what?!” Jeralt—Dad screamed in shock.
Byleth crossed her arms. “I bit him, I told you! He was saying some crap about you!”
Dad looked at her in disbelief, and then bursted into laughter.
‘Why is everyone laughing at me today?!’
“You… you bit him… you bit the… freaking… AHAHAHAHAHA!” Dad was laughing so hard he didn’t finish the phrase.
Byleth shrugged, deciding to let him be. ‘It’s not like I’m gonna ever see Bowlcut boy again…’
15 years later
Byleth didn’t know if she was getting better at reading people, or if Jeralt was acting strange more than usual. Since she told him she chose to lead the Blue Lion House, her father started to make a soft giggle everytime she mentioned the house-leader, Dimitri. It was getting annoying.
“Are you going to tell me why do you make that sound everytime I mention Dimitri, dad?!” she finally said one afternoon, while her and Jeralt were having tea in her room.
Jeralt smiled. “Ah! Never. But maybe, you’ll have your answer if you’ll ever see his arm… Summer is starting, after all…”

Difference or not, Kronya will not hesitate killing anyone from Fodlan as this one seemed... just the same without Areadbhar. She had faced one already and he seemed to be in a qualifications of a dead Fodlan person. Actually, everyone.
Therefore, she mocks him.

"Where's your Areadbhar? Did you lose it somewhere? You're going to kill me with your ferocity, right?" That's Kronya to some, Diabolical and Deranged.
Doesn't care what weapon he has, she's going for the kill as she rushes in first with a horizontal.

Every single one of you ,” Dimitri gritted out - teeth clenched, eyes wild, “write to your fathers and inform your Houses. If Crown Prince Dimitri Alexandre Blayddid gets one more word of a marriage proposal then he is going to strip you down to baron and confiscate your taxes for the next year .”
“Uh huh ,” Sylvain said, writing furiously. Ingrid, Felix, and Mercedes were also obviously writing the words down. “And what should I say if you hear any more about the saintess’ babies?”
“Make Felix write the threat,” Dimitri said. “I’ll sign off on it.”
“Is this extra credit?” Felix asked Byleth.
“Sure,” she said. “Why not.”
“I don’t know,” Mercedes said thoughtfully. “I think this is the first time any young noble lady has been pressured to marry another woman. It’s a little beautiful. In its own way.”
“Then tell your guardian that Crown Prince Dimitri approves all same-sex marriages except the one to the saintess !”
“Oh, how nice. Will you make that a policy?”
“I think that’s an excellent idea,” Dedue said.
“It would be a just and egalitarian policy,” Dimitri said aggressively. “But more importantly -”
In which Byleth fields a great deal of marriage proposals, Dimitri reaches an important developmental milestone, and all is lost. Also the story stops being funny like halfway through this chapter and doesn't get very funny again, so sorry! Lol!

Caution the above descriptions and below concept contain some spoilers.
Part 2
Hey!! I finally finished the designs for this idea I had like months ago! whoop!!  Below you can find my thought process regarding the designs and ideas for this I guess AU.
I wanted to write the descriptions like something out of a SoulsBorne game but ended up feeling really embarrassed about how edgy they sound...please don't call me out on being an edgelord.....
The concept was that if Byleth and Sothis were able to perfectly merge, retaining all of Sothis' memories and abilities they'd try to travel back in time to prevent the Argathans' rise to power and essentially save the students and friends they made at Garreg Mach.
However as this endavor required a lot of power they decided to enlist the help of their old friends after they perished in different timelines.
Basically all four of them begin to exist outside the loop of the 3H story and change history for the better. After it's said and done they create a "Best Ending" where everyone is more or less happy and hide under Garreg Mach waiting to fight with their enemies one last time before "sealing" the loop.
Trivia:
All four of them reside in one of the deepest parts of Abyss behind a magically locked door.
The Divine One is asleep 90% of the time but will some times sneak out to see that their old friends are alive and happy. (This causes The Fell Emperor and King of The Damned to go into panic mode).
The Fell Emperor's flaming core is always warm which makes her the ideal pillow for The Divine One on cold nights.
The King is almost completely mad but regains moments of clarity when around The Divine One.
The King uses the spears he was killed with as his primary weapons. He can remove and replace them on his back.
The King is surrounded by the chill of Faergus and therefore makes for a great pillow in the summer.
The Duke has no affect on temperature and is therefore stuck with moving The Divine One when she falls asleep in weird places, as he cannot wake her up by accident.
The Duke's right arm is a prosthetic.

U played 3hopes yet...? SPOILERS IF U HAVNT. Geez the BEs really dont have a good day on AG huh. They seem utterly miserable when recruited except for maybe petra but well the lady has to move on for brigid. As compared to recruiting BLs to SB, recruitment on AG really is only about survival? Ashe and Mercedes are miserable on SB but at least they have Lonato & Jeritza. Dorothea has 0 supports with BLs. Bernie stays in her room. Linhardt is sick and tired. Does the kingdom even care abt Brigid?
I played SB but not AG, though I did hear a few things from it (I'm not looking for spoilers but I don't mind them either).
Yeah, the BE really only join for survival in AG from what I've seen, while recruitments in SB are always about playing on heartstrings a little. I think that's because, weirdly enough, not being at Garreg Mach for a full year has allowed Edelgard to grow closer to her friends because she didn't have to lie to them, distance herself from them and betray them after a full year of companionship, while the BL, as you would expect, are not very close because they've barely spent any time together (aside from the Faerghus Four and Dedue). The BL also had no reason to work together more than your average King and Lords/Knights for two years while the BE were enlisted by Edelgard/their fathers to help prepare the upcoming war, therefore allowing them to grow closer as friends, like they would have at Garreg Mach (more or less), but without the betrayal at the end.
So when you get into the war, the only reason the BL fight are out of loyalty to their King/country while the BE, on the other hand, having been aware of what would happen from the start and being allowed by Edelgard to back out of it whenever they wanted, go into this conflict with firm beliefs and convictions (that Edelgard's reforms are necessary, that she's the only kind of ruler that will try to understand them and their needs and take care of them, etc). To recruit a BL, you just need to give them something they value more than their loyalty to distant, barely-talked-to-them-twice Dimitri, and for Ashe and Mercedes it's not too hard to find that ; if you want to recruit a BE, however, you'll be hard pressed to find anyone or anything in the Kingdom or Dimitri's beliefs that they relate to more than Edelgard's views and dreams for Fodlan, so the only way to get them to leave the Imperial Army is to tell them "either you join me and live or you die". And the Empire and Edelgard have never been nearly as obsessed with loyalty and nationalism as the Kingdom, so of course the BE value their lives more than the "honour" of dying for their ruler.
On top of that, Edelgard is a ruler who values individuals, their specific qualities and dreams, even if she's not particularly close to them (re : Lord Lonato and her being bothered at his death in Houses even though he wasn't a lord of the Empire) and who will never kill anyone or want them dead if she doesn't absolutely has to (not even Rhea) ; Dimitri, on the other hand, despite believing that his officers and friends deserve to live and disliking injustice... well, really doesn't mind killing people even if there are other options available (purging the western nobles instead of putting them on trial and in jail) and has a bit of a tendency to detach himself from what happens to his allies if they're not people he personally cares about (re : Lord Lonato in Houses and how Dimitri didn't try to empathise with him, even though he was a lord of the Kingdom). So when a BL joins the Empire, sure, they're bummed out about being a traitor and having to fight their friends, but at least they're welcome with open arms by a ruler who sees them as more than simple pawns, someone who tries to empathise with them and will want to bring them in the inner circle and listen to their opinions, while when a BE joins the Kingdom's army, they're feeling bad about fighting their friends, about fighting against the ideals they want to defend, and they are faced with a ruler who sees them as assets to use in his army, but whose ideas he won't ask for and that he won't mourn if they are killed.
So yeah, that's a bit of a bummer for the BE. I don't know how things are in GW when you recruit the BE, but Claude is more similar to Edelgard, in his beliefs and the way he interacts with his officers, than Dimitri, so I expect the BE have an easier time adjusting to being in the Alliance than the Kingdom.
(On Brigid specifically, Dimitri doesn't seem to have any interest in it one way or another and would probably be easy to convince to give them their independance, but still, Edelgard gave Petra her blessing to surrender and has already promised that Brigid would be an equal to the Empire/Fodlan, so while Petra has to push through for her homeland, there's no doubt she's aware that things would be smoother/easier if she had to deal with Edelgard instead of Dimitri, if only because Brigid has only ever been the Empire's vassal state, never the Kingdom, so Edelgard is bound to know more about it than Dimitri)

This one's merciless as she's not a customer of dying but she will try to survive this one out. Dimitri is pretty good with the spear as she will give him that.
It was wise indeed to choose Athame than everything when the 'stars' giving away free stuff but her focus is on him in a defensive. Whatever attack he did, she narrowly dodged but left a cut on a shoulder.

"Did mentioning her name really agitates you? Wish Thales should have expanded his tasks not only at Adrestia but to Faerghus as well." Maybe Thales had never thought of that but who cares, he asked for a fight and she'll give it to him.
Idly standing but she's waiting for his next move that will hit him.

[ dαчвrєαk σpєn чσur єчєs ]
word count: 232
pairing: dimitri alexandre blaiddyd/byleth; dimitri alexandre blaiddyd/gender-neutral!reader
genre: fluff; sort of crack?
summary: a daunting revelation.
a/n: wow my first ever fire emblem fic? behold, the drabble/ficlet that was supposed to be a joke, but otherwise evolved,,, a chronicle of my purple prose,, inspired by a discussion i'd rather not relive lmao
the soft light of dawn peers through the curtain, the two lovers illuminated, bathed in an ethereal white glow. the bedroom was slightly cluttered, truly as testament of the previous night’s activities—an unabashed witness of the couple’s midnight tryst. this seraphic canvas’ core however, was the expanse of the bed; the immaculate sheet capturing the outline of the two lithe bodies, bare and locked in a loving embrace. one, however, stirred before the other. slowly opening their eyes, they looked on blearily. it’s too bright. yawn. still tired from the previous night’s romantic rendezvous. so instead of fighting against the tendrils of sleep, they decided to succumb to it, resting their eyes once more. they tightened their hold around the figure, nuzzling ever closer. languidly tracing circles on the soft skin beneath them, they placed gentle kisses on the crook of his neck. they released a content sigh, relishing in his comforting warmth. soft, golden locks tickling them slightly.
but the halcyon moments of the afterglow does not remain for long as the post-nut clarity rears its ugly head and they realise, at that moment in time and space, that they and sothis are one, two souls—mind and body—become one; two sides of the same coin—sharing all thoughts, feelings, and sensations—together for the remainder of their shared existence. horror laced their voice: « oh no, they softly whispered. »
