“Do we have an extra chair?” they asked. Everyone stopped, except Beel who was filling his plate, and realized Anna had nowhere to sit.

“I didn’t know we had more chairs,” Levi muttered before looking back down at the game on his DDD. Satan brought the chair to Yuki’s end of the table.

“Thanks, Satan,” they said and he nodded once, giving a quick smile to Anna, before returning to his own seat. Mammon suddenly shot up out of his chair - that was across from Levi's and therefore on Yuki’s right  - and grabbed the new one. “What are you-?” He pushed Yuki’s chair closer to his side of the table and put the new one on Levi’s side. “Really?” Yuki shook their head, but they were smiling in amusement. Mammon returned to his seat and crossed his arms as he stared Anna down, almost as if daring her to try and sit between him and Yuki. She was quick to avoid anyone’s gaze as she sat down to Levi's right. As she moved her chair in her foot happened to bump into his. The purple haired demon’s head shot up, having been engrossed in his game, and he blinked at her. She slouched her shoulders a bit as she stared down at the table.

"Sorry," she muttered.

“Thanks,” she said quietly but made no move to add anything to her plate. Instead she watched the brothers fill their own, Beel was already on his second plate, and quiet conversations slowly picked up around the table.

“You… you’d better eat something before Beel gets it all,” Levi said, still not looking at her. She glanced at him and saw his plate was also empty.

“Aren’t you going to eat?” she asked. He made brief eye contact with her before he looked down.

“I’m not going to RAD today,” he said. She suddenly realized that he was in fact the only one not in his uniform. “So I-I can eat later, I’m…” He lifted his DDD slightly to show her. “I’m busy.”

“What are you playing?” she asked as she leaned closer. Instinctively he leaned away from her but didn’t miss the way she quickly moved back, looking down at her lap.

He doesn’t want you near him, idiot...

“Uh… M-Mononoke Land,” he muttered.

“What’s that?” she asked. Beside her Yuki snorted, making Anna look at them before back to Levi who let out a sigh.

“Yuki knows what it is,” he said, sending a small glare at the other human. Anna nodded as she looked down.

Translation: “Ask Yuki. Stop talking to me.”

Anna turned to Yuki who was already pulling out their DDD.

“It’s a game where you catch and trade spirits around town,” they said as they opened it and started to show her.

“So… Ghost Pokemon GO,” Anna said.

“Exactly!” Yuki’s face lit up. "Levi had no idea what I was talking about when I brought it up." The two heard him grumble something about 'normies'.

“Oh good, that’s something that’s still a thing,” Anna said. It was weird that hearing that a mobile game she rarely played in her world being the same in this world had made her feel so… relieved.

“Here, if you type in my code you can add me and we can trade after you catch some,” Yuki pointed to their screen. Anna nodded and downloaded the game then navigated the game menus to add them. “There. I’m your first friend.” Yuki beamed. Anna couldn’t help her smile as she looked down at Yuki’s name on her friend’s list. She glanced up and over at Levi, who was pretending not to listen, and suddenly her smile faded as she looked back at the list.

He won’t want to add me. Why would he want to be friends with me, even if it’s just in a game? There's no way he- 

Yuki nudged her with their elbow making the girl look at them. They nodded towards the otaku with an encouraging smile. Anna shook her head and her brow furrowed in distress. 

“Hey Levi?” Anna looked down and couldn’t help the tight grip on her DDD.

“Hm?” Levi hummed, doing his best to seem distracted when really his full attention was on the two humans.

“You should add Anna on Mononoke Land,” they said, grinning when Levi looked up and over at the girl.

“Y-you don’t have to,” she quickly said, but he had already held out his hand. She looked at his hand a moment before she slowly handed him her DDD. It took him only a few seconds to add himself to her friends list before he handed it back to her.

“No devices at the table,” Lucifer said from the other end of the table, annoyance clear in his tone. Anna flinched and almost dropped her DDD. She quickly put it away in the pocket of her uniform's jacket and could feel her heart start to race.

He’s mad. Idiot. You’re in trouble. Stupid, stupid, stu-

Yuki reached over and took Anna’s hand, snapping the girl from her thoughts. They gave her hand a squeeze with a smile before putting some food from their plate to hers.

“You should eat.” Anna felt her breathing return to normal and nodded.

Their classes that day were a little different than they had been the previous day. A classes few were swapped out for other subjects; the schedule alternated in a pattern over three days. In a different class than the one she sat next to Belphie in the day before - Devildom History - she sat on the right side next to Satan while Belphie was in the seat in front of her. Mammon and Yuki sat at the desk to Satan’s left. 

When the three - Anna, Yuki, and Mammon - walked into the classroom she saw Belphie sleeping with his head on his pillow and Satan skimming through a textbook.

“The seat beside you is open, right?” Yuki asked him as they approached.

“Hm?” Satan looked up. “Oh, yes, it is.” He motioned to it, giving Anna a polite smile. She gave him a small one back as she slid into her seat. Yuki and Mammon went to theirs as Belphie lifted his head. He glanced behind him and blinked sleepily at her.

“Hmm…” He looked to Satan with a slight pout. “Nee, Satan, switch seats with me.” The blond frowned, eyebrows furrowed.

“What? No.” He shook his head before he went back to looking at the book in front of him. Belphie’s pout deepened before he turned to face forward and put his head back down on his pillow.

When class started Anna noticed how diligently Satan started taking notes. His handwriting was small but legible, annotations written in the margins, proper headings and subject labels. She looked down at her own notebook with a frown. Whatever was written on the blackboard was copied to the pages as best she could, but other than that she was never very good at taking notes. The words were in a quick and messy script, too big to fit as much on one page as her neighbor. Doodling on the sides, sure, she was great at that. Actual note taking… not so much. She was so focused on trying to write down what the professor was saying that she almost didn’t see the folded piece of paper Belphie was holding behind his back. Anna blinked and looked from the paper to the back of his head. He turned around slightly to look at her and moved the paper closer to her, taking a quick glance at his brother to see he wasn’t paying attention. With a silent ‘oh’ she reached forward and took the paper. Belphie rolled his eyes with a small smirk as he turned forward again.

Tic-tac-toe, hangman, or connect 4? You draw, pass back :)

Anna smiled down at the paper before she started to make a 7 by 6 grid on it. Satan glanced over and frowned slightly. They were in Devildom Law so he didn’t understand why she was making a grid. He thought perhaps she was just doodling until she folded the paper, leaned forward slightly, and gently poked Belphie in the back twice. His arm came around behind his back, palm up, and she gave him the note. Their fingers brushed and Anna sat back in her seat as her cheeks grew a bit warm. 

It was suddenly clear why the youngest had wanted to switch seats with him and the blond found himself frowning. He and Belphie were the top in their classes; Belphie could afford to slack off and not pay attention during classes, but Anna could not. It was only her second day of classes. Satan let out a small sigh, gaining her attention and causing her smile to fade, as Belphie held the paper behind his back again. She saw Satan look from the note to her then he shook his head slightly before looking at her notebook with a pointed nod. She looked down at the notebook with a frown as she picked up her pen, shoulders slouching subconsciously. 

Belphie turned around again when she still hadn’t taken the note back and saw the dejected look on her face as she took notes before he saw the look Satan was giving him. With a glare at him, Belphie turned back around and put his chin down on his pillow with a huff. Anna glanced up and frowned at his back before learning an elbow on the table to rest her chin in her palm. 

A few moments later she startled slightly when her DDD buzzed in her jacket pocket. If passing notes earned her a look of disapproval, what would texting in class get her? It buzzed a second then third time before Satan looked over at her. He could hear the soft buzz sounds and could even see the light from the phone through her jacket pocket. With another sigh Satan took his own phone out, surprising Anna when he started typing out a message. A few seconds after he’d put his phone back in his pocket Belphie snapped his head around to look at him with a glare. With another huff he put his head down again, this time sideways, and hugged the pillow on his desk.

When class was over Belphie got up and left the classroom without a word to her or even a look back. Yuki frowned seeing the girl’s forlorn expression as she packed up her things. Beside her, Satan found himself also frowning slightly. He had noticed she looked down throughout the rest of the class, but that had only made it worse.

The dejected look on her face followed him into their next class together where she sat beside him once again - the only other open seat was Levi’s which was behind where she sat. As class went on Satan couldn’t help but glance over at her notebook as she took notes. Little pictures would accompany the names of curses and hexes and the page ended up with more doodles than words by the end of the class. The constant forlorn look on her face made him frown down at his own notes. He knew his brother being upset affected her, but he couldn't let Belphie bring down Anna's grades so soon - or at all if he could help it. On the other hand, he didn’t think he could stand to see her looking so sad in any more classes. It was partly his fault; she was perfectly happy before he interfered. He just had to remind himself that it was for her own good. Though the urge to apologize only grew as class went on.

Anna was quick to pack up her things and rush to Yuki’s side when the bell rang signaling lunch. She followed after them and did her best to ignore the looks the white haired demon sent her way as the three left the classroom, missing the sigh from the blond as he watched her go.

A/N: I ended up splitting this chapter up into three parts. Next one (or two) will be up soon, I just need to revise it some more. Sorry this took so long, didn’t mean for such a big gap.

I also wanted to clarify that Yuki doesn't feel the smaller amounts of anxiety and sadness from Anna. So like if Anna is a bit anxious they don't feel that, it's the really angsty, panicky strong emotions.

"Hm?" Hearing the hum from her right a few minutes into class, Anna glanced over to see sleepy violet eyes looking at her. "Stuck in school too, huh?" he asked quietly. She nodded. He let out a sigh as her attention returned to the front of the class. It wasn’t a minute later that a piece of folded up paper landing in front of her made Anna jump. She blinked down at the small square before looking to her right at Belphie who still had his head on his pillow. He smirked before gesturing to the paper with his eyes. Anna unfolded the paper and looked down at the message,

"Wait… so neither of you have any clue how to send me home?" Anna looked between the demon lord and his green haired loyal servant. Beside her, Lucifer frowned and Yuki tried to suppress their grin, while Mammon stood behind them with his arms crossed looking bored.

"Unfortunately, no," Barbatos replied. "It's true that you don't belong here…" Anna couldn't help the involuntary flinch and knew everyone in the room had noticed. "But I've looked and I didn't see you in any alternative timelines until today… two days ago you were nowhere to be seen.”

“Wouldn’t it be no when ?” Yuki asked. Diavalo chuckled as Lucifer sighed while Barbatos gave them a small smile before he continued,

“Not knowing how you came to be here in the first place certainly doesn't help find a solution. Did anything unusual happen yesterday before you were transported?" Anna shook her head.

“I didn’t do anything special yesterday. The only weird thing was the whole… appearing on top of a guy I thought of as a character thing…” She frowned at the ground with a shrug.

"I know this must seem scary but Solomon and Yuki are here as well so you won’t be the only human," Diavalo tried to comfort her, but he seemed a bit too excited.

"Why not just send her up to the human realm and be done with it?" Mammon muttered. Yuki turned to him.

"Why are you here again?" they asked.

"Tch. Cause I gotta keep an eye on my human, that's why."

"I legit couldn't be safer right now."

"Sh-shut up."

"We can't send her to the human realm because she doesn't exist in this world. We'd be practically sending her to her death." Anna and Yuki looked at Lucifer in alarm. “She has no money, no identity, no home,” he elaborated. “She doesn’t even have shoes .” He motioned to the slippers Yuki had let her borrow. Anna shifted on her feet.

“I was getting ready for bed when it happened,” she muttered. “I don’t wear shoes in my room.”

"The only option is for her to stay here until we figure out how to send her home," Diavalo said with a big smile. "I'll have another bed sent to the House of Lamentation for you. You'll be provided with your own DDD and if you send Barbatos a list he'll gather anything else you may require." The other demon nodded as he smiled at her.

"I don't have to take classes, do I? I already graduated from school," she started to whine but stopped as soon as she noticed Diavalo's face fall and Lucifer frowning beside her; she found herself subconsciously moving closer to Yuki. "I-I'm just not the best academically… I wouldn't do well. I don't wanna mess things up and bring down class averages with poor test scores."

"I'm sure you'll do fine once you get the hang of it!" Diavalo encouraged her with a big smile.

"I-I appreciate the vote of confidence, sir, but I don't even know any of the subjects."

"That's why people study," Lucifer said.

"The grading is a little easier on us exchange students too," Yuki said with a smile.

“Though that shouldn’t be used as an excuse to slack off,” Lucifer said, sending a frown over Anna’s head at the other human.

"Isn't it like the middle of the school year though?" Anna protested.

"If you’re worried about falling behind, one of my brothers will tutor you," Lucifer said.

"But-" The panic on her face must have been clear as day as she looked up at him.

"Satan will help you study this weekend. He's one of the top students in his classes," Lucifer told her. He expected her to relax at that, but her anxiety only rose and she began to fidget with her fingers and chew her bottom lip. Yuki took her hand.

"He won't mind," they told her.

Yes he will. Yes he will. Yes he will, her brain told her. He didn't want me there last night… he’s just too polite to say so. He won’t want to be around me when he has to actually talk to me. I’m going to look so stupid in front of him… I’m going to make a fool of myself.

Anna swallowed and tried to calm her breathing.

"I will inform him once we return home after classes and you'll begin your studies at once," Lucifer said.

"I'll tell him," Anna said quickly. "I'm sure you're busy. I-I can do it." He looked down at her a moment before he nodded.

"If he gives you any trouble just come to me." Anna nodded. Diavalo clapped his hands together, making her jump and turn her attention back to him.

"Now that that's settled, I truly hope you enjoy your stay in Devildom." He beamed down at her. “If you have any problems or concerns please don’t hesitate to let myself or Lucifer know.” She couldn't help but smile back, his enthusiasm was contagious.

"Thank you. Um, when do I start classes? Tomorrow? Wait a sec… What day even is it?” She looked sheepish.

"You'll sit in on classes today and tomorrow, there are no classes over the weekend, but we'll give you extra time to catch up with the schoolwork you've missed so far," Barbatos answered. Anna suddenly grimaced.

"Um… I'm gonna need a uniform aren't I?"

   "You look fine," Yuki said with a smile as they watched Anna frowning into the floor length mirror in their room. She hummed out a whine.

"I have to wear this?"

"Mhm. It's not so bad."

"Easy for you to say..." She tried to pull down the skirt to cover her legs more, she was grateful the uniform came with grey leggings to go under the skirt but it didn’t help her insecurities either way. "You're sure it's not too short?" Yuki shrugged.

"We gave Barbatos your measurements and he knows the dress code." The girl hummed another whine. "Come on, Mammon's waiting to walk us to RAD. He gets cranky when I make him wait too long."

“I don’t doubt that,” Anna said with a chuckle, making Yuki laugh. “Do we all have the same classes?” she asked as she looked down at the list of classes Barbatos had messaged her.

“Mammon and I do, but I think that’s only because he’s assigned to look after me. The exchange students are all in the same classes, though Solomon takes more advanced magic classes. As for the other brothers, they’re in a mix of our classes.” Anna nodded.

“I don't have any magic, do I really need to take those classes or anything to do with magic?"

"Well, it's not just learning to use it but learning about it. I didn’t think I had any either, ya know."

"Can I be exempt if I've already learned it? Like math?"

"I mean I've already graduated high school too," Yuki said with a laugh. "If I still have to take it, so do you." They nudged her hip with a smile. Anna let out a sigh but smiled at them 

   When the three walked into the classroom other students glanced their way upon seeing another human but soon went back to their own conversations. Yuki brought Anna towards the back of the class where the other exchange students were waiting.

"Everyone, this is Anna." They gestured to her with a smile.

"Huh? Another exchange student?" Luke asked, tilting his head. 

"Levi's stupid game brought her here," Mammon said as he plopped down onto the long bench of a double seated desk one row from the back. Anna shifted and gave a quick smile of greeting to the three other exchange students.

"Looks like we're outnumbered now," Simeon said with a good natured chuckle. 

"Eh? Wait so… she's from a video game?" Luke looked up at Simeon then over at Yuki.

"Well… uh… not exactly," Yuki hesitated with a sheepish smile as they looked at Anna.

"Nope. Not explaining this again," she said as she shook her head and sat down next to Mammon. He immediately snapped his fingers and pointed to the desk behind them.

"Nuh-uh," he said as he shook his head. "That's Yuki's seat." Anna rolled her eyes and moved. 

"Mammon," Yuki chided with a slight sigh, but he simply crossed his arms.

"Wait… so Anna isn't from one of Levi's games?" Solomon asked. Anna put her arms on the desk and rested her forehead on them.

"Nope, mm-mm, not saying it," her voice was muffled into her arm.

"I'll explain after classes," Yuki said as they sat down in their seat. Solomon took the seat behind Mammon and smiled at Anna when she turned her head to peek at who had sat next to her. She hid her face and hoped he hadn't seen how it began to glow.

  When Anna walked into her next class, she saw a familiar head of black hair sleeping on his pillow on the right side of the desk at the very back right corner of the classroom. She turned to Yuki as they walked towards the back of the room.

“Should we wake him? I don't want him to be late to his next class.”

"This is his next class; he gets to classes early to start his naps early. I try to wake him when classes start, but usually he just falls back to sleep." They shrug. "It doesn't affect his grades in the slightest." They looked utterly baffled.

"Ah." Anna nodded. "So which seat is yours?" she asked. A moment later Mammon sat down on the left side of the desk in front of his brother’s and she shook her head. "Nevermind. Figured it out." She rolled her eyes.

"The seat behind Mammon is free," Yuki said. Anna looked to the sleeping demon for a moment before sitting down next to him. She couldn’t help the small smile as she looked at him holding his pillow, hair in his eyes. Yuki grinned back at her, making her face flush as she looked forward.

...

"Hm?" Hearing the hum from her right a few minutes into class, Anna glanced over to see sleepy violet eyes looking at her. "Stuck in school too, huh?" he asked quietly. She nodded. He let out a sigh as her attention returned to the front of the class. It wasn’t a minute later that a piece of folded up paper landing in front of her made Anna jump. Anna unfolded the paper and looked down at the message,

Anna turned to look back at him, a slight smile pulling at her lips, and raised an eyebrow. He pouted and nodded towards her. She picked up her pen and he nodded, his smirk back. Anna looked back down at the paper and chewed her bottom lip for a moment.

Nice nap?

She refolded the paper and looked up to see the professor facing the chalkboard. With a flick of her wrist the paper square flew from her hand and, intending for it to simply slide over to him across the desk, she watched as it hit Belphie directly on the nose. Her hand flew to her mouth in surprise but to also hide her smile as he blinked, looking down briefly at his nose. Seeing her attempt at hiding her smile he poked his tongue out at her as he managed to contain his own. He unfolded the paper, sitting up slightly as he pulled his pillow closer to himself to hold the note open in front of him, and a second later gave her a thumbs up. He grabbed his own pen and scribbled something before folding it again. 

Balancing the square on the desk by its corner with a single finger he used his other hand to flick the paper in her direction. Instead of landing in front of her, however, the paper hit Mammon on the back of the head before it landed on the desk. Mammon whirled around with a hand on the back of his head and glared at her. Anna jumped and quickly pointed to Belphie. When the two looked at him, he already had his head back on his pillow and his eyes closed. Mammon’s glare turned back to her, making her flinch. Yuki turned in confusion at the two as Mammon turned back around. Anna looked to Belphie as he opened his eyes again with a grin. It faltered however when Anna looked away from him with a frown and didn’t open the paper. Belphie blinked and sat up slightly. He frowned as she continued to ignore the paper and he grabbed another. She glanced over as he readied to flick it and he paused when he saw her close her eyes, her shoulders slouching slightly. When he flicked the paper across the desk and it hit her hand she startled, eyes flying open. She looked down and saw the message written on the outside of the square.

She looked over at him to see him pouting, chin on his pillow, looking forward. His eyes flicked over to her briefly. Chewing her bottom lip, she opened the original note.

How funny was the look on his face? xP

Anna frowned down at the paper. He had done it to make Mammon mad at her, hadn’t he? Why would he think she would find his reaction funny? When she grabbed her pen, Belphie perked up and quickly caught the paper when she slid it across the desk to him.

Why would I find someone glaring at me funny?

Belphie frowned down at her response in confusion and looked between her and the back of Mammon’s head. Anna let out a silent sigh as she saw him folding up another piece of paper. As he readied the paper to be flicked she closed her eyes, putting a hand over them as she leaned her elbow on the desk. She heard the flick, the impact, and the small breeze from Mammon whirling around in front of her. When she hesitantly opened her eyes she saw his glare get interrupted by another paper hitting him in the face. His head snapped towards his brother and Anna looked over to see Belphie sticking his tongue out before he flicked a third to hit his brother on the nose. Mammon glared at him while Yuki turned around and gave Belphie a playfully scolding look, but he simply grinned. Yuki touched Mammon’s arm to make him face forward again while they glanced at Anna with a concerned, questioning look. She gave a quick, clearly forced, smile.

The original paper slid across the desk to stop in front of Anna and she looked over to see Belphie looking at her expectantly. She opened the paper,

he was supposed to glare at me… :( sorry about that

She gave him a small smile with a slight nod. He pushed another piece of paper, this one not folded, over to her. Anna’s smile grew as she looked down at the drawn tic-tac-toe board and the small ‘you first’ written beside it. She glanced over to see him smiling as she picked up her pen.
