We, i.e. AnAuntie and AnDagon, are deeply grateful to you that you managed to merge us into one unified body, allowing the humanoid Auntie to live on even though she had already died in her universe. We also know that you fused us because your wild ward @curlish had set her heart on @fishyfiles, who did not reciprocate these feelings in the slightest. Neither did any of the other Dagons in this universe. You couldn't watch Curlish suffer any longer - especially after the disappointments and traumas she had to go through in her previous universe.

So you lured a Dagon from a parallel universe into your world by seducing him with siren music. Since you were anxious not to have another Dagon fall in love with the Archangel Michael, you merged this Dagon with Auntie, who longed for a life as a full human and who also expressed a desire to meet Curlish, who was, after all, not only "the delete key of the universe" but also as abject as herself. Andagon, on the other hand, was drawn to Curlish's holistic philosophy.

We share one body that looks entirely like any Dagon, while AnAuntie, whose patchwork body was unable to live on its own (having lost its power source), is not visibly presented.

Now we encounter two problems:

AnDagon longs to be free to follow the flow of water, to find a way to the ocean - not in Curlish's car, but through the rivers, alone. AnDagon is full of admiration for the holistic philosophy and also full of goodwill towards Curlish, but he's looking for … well, @god-in-the-basement will know.

AnAuntie has fallen in love with Curlish and wants a body of her own. Only when Curlish sees her in her own body and still loves her can she be sure that this love will work.

We know it was very difficult for you to create our fused body since you have no demonic powers, let alone angelic ones. So similar to concocting your own body, you had to rely on your quack resurrectionist resources, a little demonic help from @dream-of-pain and @i-dream-of-sheeny genie powers.

Now we ask something even more difficult: Please split us into two separate bodies and souls again…

And of all the Christmas traditions that Dirk had researched, none had managed to fascinate him in quite the same way as mistletoe."

It's less than two months after Bergsberg and Blackwing, and Dirk is determined to make his first Christmas with Todd and Farah as festive as possible. However, he quickly becomes side-tracked by one particular whim: catching Todd under the mistletoe. It shouldn't be that complicated, right? Put up mistletoe, wait for opportunity to strike. Easy and simple. Except that mistletoe proves to be less than easy and never simple, and what starts off as curiosity spirals towards disaster. And Dirk really isn't sure how to feel about the fact that the Universe itself seems to be thwarting his every move.

Hello mon amigos here is the first chapter of the promised Christmas fic. Many thanks to @agent-p-94 for asking me about the wip, you really motivated me to open it up and look at it again. Also many thanks to @goldenaltar for doing all the housework today so that I could work on this fic. You are wonderful and excellent and very good at rolling out gingerbread.

I'm hoping to put out a new chapter of this every day but [giggles nervously] we'll see how that goes. If I do meet that goal though it'll be published in real time, as this chapter opens on the 17th of December, the same day as it was here in Australia an hour and forty-five minutes ago. Which is also actually sort of fitting, as Dirk in this chapter stays up until 2AM. Life imitating art etc.

people often talk about how fanfiction is great because you can put your favourite characters in crazy scenarios (like, idk, a mafia werewolf au or something). but my absolute favourite thing is the exact opposite: reading about them doing completely ordinary shit, like going to the supermarket or having a nap. and like maybe that's just my super niche corner of fanfiction but i eat that shit up. it's just so satisfying getting to read about your normally badass super awesome favourite character making toast in the morning.

Greetings, Dirk Gently fandom; I bring you great news! A saviour has been born!

Introducing: a searchable DGHDA scene index!

What is it?

It's a way to categorise and search for every single scene in the show.

You can sort by character, tone, season, activity level, etc, and the spreadsheet will automatically give you all the scenes that match your search with a link to their start and end times on YouTube!

Why?

The original intention of this was for fic writers – as the writing equivalent of a folder of reference images. But it has as many applications as you can think of for it!

How?

Four days of me hyperfocusing on spreadsheet formulae. Worth it.

But!!! There's a Problem!

See, I've set the whole thing up, with formatting and formulae and so on – but, at present, there isn't actually anything in it.

There's something like 900 scenes in the whole show.

So: I'm asking for your help!

I've got a document linked below explaining everything involved, but in short: if we produce a community effort and divide the episodes between us, the whole thing will be filled out and functional much more quickly!

There's no pressure to do anything you don't feel up for, so don't feel like you have to input loads to take part! And if you don't take part at all for any reason, that's also completely fine. Your presence in the fandom is always enough <3

If you do feel up for anything, your help will be greatly appreciated!!

a real thing that happened in the bergsberg police department's main lobby while dirk and bart were having their holisticness conversation in the holding cell

farah: so, how are you doing? *half-joking* not injured or anything?

todd: nah, i've had it worse before—

tina, in the background, banging something hard against something metallic: out! all of you, get outta here!

todd, skipping an embarrassed beat: …i, uh— i'm sorry i kissed your girlfriend, right in front of you. last night.

he and farah stare at each other for a split moment, eyes widening with recollection.

cut to flashback:

farah, considerably drunk, face and body covered moderately in blue glitter, wearing todd's shirt, and grabbing at his shoulders in excitement: todd! todd, actually, you're such a worse kisser than tina!

todd, about the same level of drunk, glitter-less and shirt-less, baffled and laughing loudly: hey, it's unfair! you're a lesbian, you're biased!

tina, drunk above her baseline level, heavily covered in blue glitter, appearing out of nowhere to wrap an arm around todd's shoulders just as farah lets them go: nah, it's true, honest fucking truth, dude! i've got unparalleled skill!

todd, turning to face tina and shoving at her, teasingly: yeah, girl? yeah?

tina, shoving back at him with too much force and glee: yeah, man! yeah!

todd: prove it, then! *grabs at her shirt and pulls her into a kiss*

they proceed to make out in the most impolite of fashions, todd growing increasingly more be-glittered; beside them, farah throws her hands in the air and shrieks with uncontainable joy.

cut back from flashback.

farah, still a little bit out of it: ah, it's— it's alright, really, todd, honestly, it's— *a belated wave of realization hits her face* wait, girlfriend? it's... ah, no, it's not... not like this... *her expression goes through five stages of grief simultaneously, and she buries it in her hands, mumbling for a minute or two. then she snaps up, attemtpting (and failing) to shift the topic of conversation* so, hm. you and tina made out(?) *it's a weird pitch of voice, not a question but not not a question*

todd, awkwardly half-laughing: yeah, hah, i think i made out with more people yesterday than i ever did in my life before.

an uncomfortable beat passes.

todd: so... are you and tina?...

farah: no. *she shakes her head, and looks openly, earnestly sad.* no, not really. and, um, you and dirk?

todd winces, and for a moment appears deeply, profoundly upset, before schooling his face into a lighthearted smile: nah, no more than me and tina.

farah nods; then internally deliberates over something.

farah: you want your shirt back?

todd, bumping her shoulder with a smile: no, keep it.

farah, bumping back, teasing: what, your clothes look good on me?

todd groans.
