Oh, yes! My beloved little healer, Trick. Thanks for asking @swtorpadawan ^^

Trick usually is the nice thing in most conversations. She's just a nice young woman, a healer at heart with a real gentle soul and calming presence, in spite of everything the galaxy has thrown at her.

That said, her general presence has just as great effect on animals as it does mot sentients she's around, and as such she's collected a small menagerie of pets. There's Annovi, her Vulptilla, who Trick rescued on Alderaan while training with her Master. She's pretty sure Novi was abandoned by a noble who didn't realize just how much work the creature would require, and she simply couldn't bring herself to leave the pup to fate...so she took on the responsibility of nurturing and raising her. The results are self-evident, Novi is perhaps the most loyal companion Trick has and is almost always following in her footsteps behind her, no matter where.

Then there's Dellara and Stryder, the Manka cats on Tython. Dellara is a grumpy old lady and Stryder the kitten she wound up taking care of (Trick is pretty sure Del is not Stryder's mother...but can't be sure). Trick offered food to them one day in order to appease them and allow her passage to some ruins she needed to explore. From there, she ran into them a few more times, each time offering them food for some type of passage, until the two essentially started following her around everywhere on Tython. She wouldn't necessarily say they're "her cats," if anything they adopted her, but the two are often found in or around her residences...and everyone else knows they're her cats.

Then finally, there's Fletcher the Orobird. She took him in as an egg when she found him during a misadventure with a smuggling ring on Nar Shaddaa. It wasn't her intent, but there wasn't much else she could do with the egg, and much like Novi, she wasn't going to just let him die. Despite being the youngest of her ragtag pack, he's the most ornery, and really only likes Trick...while, at best, tolerating a few other people.

Once upon a forever ago, I decided that her pets were a reflection of the people closest to her outside her family, with Dellara and Stryder reflecting her childhood best friends, my BH Hayden and my Smugs Chris, and Fletcher reflecting her future husband. Annovi is a reflection of herself...which is a separate can of worms entirely.

But yeah, while she wouldn't call herself a Beast Master, Trick is very good with animals, and more often than not can be found with a small zoo trailing behind her, Disney princess style. She loves her babies a lot, and reuniting with them in KOTFE was the second most important thing to her after reuniting with her crew, Lana, and Theron.

The Death Of Mahsa Amini Spark Wide Scale Protests Across Iran

On September 16th, 2022, Mahsa Amini, a young 22-year-old Iranian woman was pronounced dead at a hospital in the city of Tehran. Suspicion as to the cause of her death emerged, and based on accounts by nurses and staff, it was concluded that the cause of her death was due to a brutal attack done by Iran’s Guidance Patrol, most commonly known as The Religious Morality Police.

For context, Iranian’s morality police is “an element of Iran’s Law Enforcement Forces (LEF), that arrests women for wearing “inappropriate” hijab and enforces other restrictions on freedom of expression.” (US Department of State) Mahsa Amini before her death was detained by Iran's morality police on the account of wrongfully wearing her Hijab. As a result, Mahsa was beaten to death and later news of her death triggered a global outcry condemning Iran’s Hijab Law and its enforcing body.

“The Morality Police” was first established as an enforcing body after the passing of the Compulsory veil post Iran-Iraq war early 1990’s. Before this, compulsory hijab was a requirement and a commonly cultural and religious practice, especially after the Iranian Revolution. Interestingly, a contrasting situation occurred in 1936 Iran, in which the veil was banned, encouraging for the violence and reprimand to those that did wear it. In comparison to now, Iran’s morality police have become a nationalized power towards what critics, scholars, and locals claim it to be “a force against women”.

Recently, a series of wide-scale protests have been rampant across Iran, generating a global chain of support for Iranian protesters. Common social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram have been main informative resources where Iranian and Persian creators like Dellara Gorjian, can bring awareness to this pressing issue.

Beyond Internet advocacy, many Iranian women and men have taken to the streets and in protest have shaved or cut their hair as their signal of freedom. However, fear remains rampant since increasingly more protesters have been claimed to be murdered by Iran’s Morality Police, a great example is the homicide of young 16-year-old Nika Shakarami. As of Monday, October 10, 2022, news confirmed that Iranian Oil Workers have begun an expanding Anti-Government nationwide strike. (Wall Street Journal) Actions like these appear to be more and more common as tensions escalate across Iran.

As of October 26, mass protest mourning the death of Masah Amini occurred in Saqqez, the young woman’s home city. These protest, however turned deadly and traumatic for those participating, since the Iranian Police were reported to have fired at protesters as well as arrested dozens more. (BBC) It is evident that Masah Amini has become the face of this movement and any pro-revolutionary support encounters opposition and retaliation from Iranian forces. However, death, torture, or arrests have yet to stop Iranian Protesters from advocating against the Morality Police. An indeed, many have claimed that at this point the rebellion has reached a level of no return.

In these alarming times, Iranian protesters and those affected by the government's morality police are receiving outnumbering support. The battle for Iranian women's freedom has just begun, and support and awareness can now be key to their success.
