The Day After Tomorrow is trending because of the freak tornado out in Los Angeles. According to NBC Los Angeles, the damage was confined to the San Gabriel Valley in the city. A video showcasing debris and car parts swirling made the rounds on social media. It's a wild sight to behold, especially in a region where tornadoes are not very common at all. The National Weather Service says that it was a "small tornado" and there are no other updates at this time. Montebello Fire Department explained that one person was injured in the winds but there were no fatalities. Five buildings also sustained some damage. Check out the video below. Here's how 20th Century is described: "When global warming triggers the onset of a new Ice Age, tornadoes flatten Los Angeles, a tidal wave engulfs New York City and the entire Northern Hemisphere begins to freeze solid. Now, climatologist Jack Hall (Dennis Quaid), his son Sam (Jake Gyllenhaal) and a small band of survivors must ride out the growing superstorm and stay alive in the face of an enemy more powerful and relentless than any they've ever encountered: Mother Nature!" ⚡️🍿🍿🍿🌪️🌪️ #comiccon #spoilermagazine #news #losangeles #podcast #magazine #art #instagram #galaxy #film #tv #hollywood #feature #movies #fandom #graphicdesign #nyc #spoiler #comicconradio #comicbooks #actors #artist #life #tornado #gaming #weather (at Los Angeles, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CqSh6CPrFB_/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

debris spoilers
just watched Debris season finale and I’m just
Tumblr media
sir, I-
I have so many questions. I obviously want more episodes (seasons, if it keeps being good) but also.. they like opened up these presents given over the whole season and then went, “Hey, there’s another present inside!”
Bryan reveals what the injections are for, except he doesn’t really know.
That lad Ferris had drop the stuff to Finola (1. ANOTHER FACTION?? 2. is he really who Ferris sent or did he just intercept?) is clearly up to some business and I know this was obvious but.. Dahkeya (he seems cool), ball of light, weird projection/suspension of Finola? I can’t see if her jacket is damaged or not in shoulder, I’m really grasping for straws here but that leads me to the next question..
What was the point of two entire time looping episodes?? Beyond some character exposition (not even development because Bryan hasn’t been acting like he’s had that revelation, I think?) Which “card” are we in? How much more did Finola’s father understand about what was happening, given his language used when speaking with Otto?
What exactly did Bryan experience with the Debris in ep12? How did that even work, which piece of Debris did he interact with? What’s his connection to it? Is it really the injections that prevented the memory wipe, and if so why didn’t they prevent that from happening, both in ep11 & 12?
JOHN NOBLE?? Why is he doing people origami?! What did he do to Bryan? How does he see across iterations (and are those the “reality cards”)? How does he play Creepy so well? I always felt uncomfortable when looking at him because of his mannerisms, he’s doing some great acting but euuuUUUH I AM THE UNCOMFY
How is George so far removed from understanding of his own daughter that he really thinks she, a person he specifically commented is so compassionate, would be alright with sacrificing innocent lives in order to reach some “higher existence” of what we “could & should be?” Why does he get to decide that, in his head, or who is deciding that?
Is Dee Dee going to find out about her dad? How will she react to that and what will her relationship with Finola be like?
The Telesphere is described as being “born,” so is it an entity? Is that what interacted with Bryan, while it was partially together in the Seam? Why is it so important? Can I have one?
How many more beans does Anson need to ingest before he can be baked and served up with our special “messed up decisions” breakfast menu? What will the effects of Finola having a bean in her be?
What happens to Ferris’ lad’s face? How can he just replace it? Is the one he took the face from a clone?
Who/what is Spooky McShiftingParticles? Is that Ming?
How will Finola go forward after losing, regaining, and losing her father in a somewhat even worse way? How will this affect her world view, her faith? I know from ep12 that they’re definitely having Finola and Bryan learn to balance each other out, and that’s great to see, so I wonder what their dynamic will look like going forward?
What is Ferris up to? Is she a part of that weird cave cult business? Why is Finola so important to her?
Where is Ming and how were they affected by the Debris incident? Garcia clearly had some intense consequences, Bryan less so.. also Bryan’s comment about letting other people touch Debris first, does that elude to a past experience which taught him to do so? If so, it seems pretty contradictory to his inherent need to protect people, though I guess that then raises the question of which specific people (individuals/groups) he feels the need to protect? Is Garcia still alive, because George was the one last with him and HAHA?
In ep12, Bryan greets the ship piece that he goes to check so is that the Debris he, Ming, and Garcia had the incident with?
Why does Maddox want George dead? Is it because of the INFLUX stuff and the differing viewpoints regarding how the Debris should be handled, or is there more? Was his comment of George being “like pieces of debris; useful in the right hands, dangerous in the wrong hands" dropping a hint that George is indeed not his original self?
How will Maddox’s son & wife respond to the Debris, longer term? How limited is it? What’s his connection to that Russian agent? What was her answer, and what was the door, specifically? And most importantly...
Did Finola decide to use those sunglasses herself or did Bryan convince her?
Honestly though, I love how even in the final episode where emotions are super high (they really took that literally with those people, huh?) they still managed to have the car conversation time with Finola and Bryan. I’m honestly glad they’re not making it romantic, at least currently, because this makes more sense with where they’re both at right now ,and they’ll have a much clearer understanding of where they stand with the other person because there isn’t romance attached to it. We’re truly seeing how these characters think and feel and act, without any sparkly hearts in the air. I would love it if it develops later on, but I think it’s good that it isn’t a driving force for the success of this show. The rest is more important and even if it’s entirely platonic the whole way through, that’s good too. Heavens knows we need more representation of healthy platonic relationships, or as healthy as can be in their line of work and entire world situation. I don’t think Bryan nearly destroying reality to try and get back to Finola (without any romance involved, might I add) quite constitutes as healthy, so the disclaimer is needed.
Anyways, Debris deserves more seasons. They have absolutely everything they need and more, it’s an incredible show. I might make some posts just to gush about how well they did, honestly.

“Q: Until now there has been no hint at any potential romance between the two. But that’s definitely on the table after these episodes. How would you describe your character’s feelings for Finola?
“JT: It’s funny, you’re not the first person to the circle that. When [Bryan] says, “I’m trying to come back to you,” I saw it platonically. ....
“Q: I thought it was ambiguous. But you’re not going to be the first male/female partners in television history where the show teases a potential relationship.
JT: Correct. But again, I was going at it from that perspective of my kids. And you never know. I think one of the best things about the show is that there is not a romantic relationship. But I also know that two people that spend long periods of time together… you never know. But from my perspective this was a deep expression of friendship and respect.”
Very interesting that Jonathan Tucker intended That Scene to be platonic.
Up until Episode 9, I was of the same mindset -- that Finola and Bryan are work partners who are trying to figure each other out and build trust. So it’s a bit ironic that many of us took the scene as the first real indication there might be more to Bryan’s feelings for Finola -- (or that particular version of Bryan at least) -- and JT himself saw it so differently.
I can’t argue with him, really -- it’s his character and since that’s what he intended, then I suppose it’s canon(-ish). Alas, I will continue to dream.

No because that finale left me with more questions than answers?
George actually working with the bad guys? He was acting pretty strangely this entire episode but the fact that he allowed someone to point a gun at his daughter multiple times is wild.
Who was that Finola at the end? Was she from all those alternate universes from 1x10? Where did she come from?
At least we got an explanation for the injections that Bryan takes and that we’ve seen him take multiple times. It also explains those post-episode radio transmissions we heard after every episode.
I really thought that the reason for Bryan being able to keep his memory had to do with how strong his relationship with Finola is but one can dream (I always disappoint myself lol.)
Anyway, NBC really has to renew this show because I need this world explored more and I need answers to everything that just happened. This show was so much better than I could have ever expected.

So I was a little slow to this show, not sure why...Fringe is one of my favorite shows of literally ALL TIME. So I ended up watching the first 10 episode straight through. After the finale I think I'll rewatch again.
In the meantime a couple notes:
It seems clear to me that whatever injections Bryan is getting means he is immune to the Debris. 1) in "Caroline" Finola could sense the Debris did not want them there but Bryan couldn't and 2) the finale where the brain wipe didnt work. But you could also make the argument since Bryan wasn't under the Debris control the wave wouldn't have worked anyway. But more likely 1 since George seemed convinced Bryan's memory would be toast.
JOHN FREAKING NOBLE. That is all.
The Influx guys seemed...concerned maybe about the ball of light. So it seems to be working against them somehow? And about weird grey blob that seemed to be slowly stalking them.
Brill! Another Fringe vet but seemingly on the "good" side?
Oh, Maddox. I sorta thought he was on the good side for a while, dude seems very family oriented
Finola/Bryan. I enjoyed that we just got dropped 3 weeks into their partnership but we don't get any context for why these people to "investigate" aliens stuff. It just feels like something is missing to me. But over the episodes you see them bond as they trust each other more than thier respective governments. The Icirus eps are particularly good, showing how much they've come to lean on each other. And it's interesting to me that most of the second half of 1x10 involves Finola just...believing this strange man she's never met (and a teenage girl) that the reality she's in is wrong. I mean, she must have felt down deep that she knew him or else why continue jumping to fix it?
CaveFinola. What the fresh hell was that? When did that happen? Is Our Finola a clone? Is one of them from a different reality? When did she get suspended?
JOHN NOBLE. God, I love him. He was robbed of an Emmy for his work on Fringe.
Renewal: I am am avid ratings nerd and have had many of my shows taken down (still pissed about Pitch y'all and this year Prodigal Son). This one has me concerned for sure - the ratings are below the NBC average but they've also shown patience with Manifest which I thought was very odd (I expected that to get cancelled 2 seasons ago). But I also don't see NBC going with 2 high concept shows. Maybe they shuffle this to Peacock as an "Original" series there, that seems most likely to me. Or as a summer series. Crossing fingers!

Debris S01E13 - Celestial Body
Well, everything about the season’s finale starts with a W.
Mainly:
Whoa!
WTF?
And most importantly:
WALTER???!!!!
Tumblr media
Yes, it’s John Noble. THE John Noble. JOHN FREAKIN’ NOBLE. Our beloved Walter Bishop...
And of course:
Who is this Otto?
What did he do to the people in the gas station?
Where did he found out about Bryan and what happened to him?
What happened in that debris incident?
What are the injections supposed to stave off?
What’s in those injections?
Why George, WHY?
What is this weird creature (Which, BTW, reminds me of the shadow from Fringe S02E06 - Earthling)?
What’s up with Brill?
What about this Native American dude?
And what the hell was going on in the final scene?
And finally:
When is season 2 coming up?
NBC better renew Debris, or I will personally hunt them all down.

Debris 1x13 "Celestial Body": rewatch Reaction'd, questions and comments
So if all those people are experiencing emotional convergence, who are they converging from? Who's sending the emotional signal that the debris is channeling, or is it the debris manifesting it's "consciousness" in a way that we can understand it by way of human conduits?
Maddox is clearly trading debris pieces with Irina (perhaps the piece that he took out of storage off the books), and Irina is on the phone with presumably her handler/ boss to negotiate this trade. She gives him lateral (which I assume means latitudinal) readings and then he asks for longitudinal readings which we don't get to hear. They are: Lateral 105, 112, 115, 120, 113, 110, 109
What's the significance of these measures? Latitude goes from 0° to 90° from the equator, so that doesn't track unless the scene is cut wrong and they're meant to be longitudinal (E/W) readings, which go to 180° relative to the prime meridian. That would make more sense, because after Irina is done with the first set of readings, the unknown caller on the phone says "drop to level two for vertical" and latitudes are North/South.
If we're talking Western longitudes, notable landmarks include: Denver, Salt Lake City UT / Phoenix AZ / nearly Sedona AZ - aka where the telesphere went, Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe/ Nevada border, Great Salt Lake, Alberta-Saskatchewan border, and the Utah-Arizona border.
Or perhaps they're not part of terrestrial measurement at all. The act of "lateral reading" could just mean verifying your sources/accuracy as you go, where as vertical reading is reading for content first to see if something is worth evaluating for sources.
However, if they are part of coordinates, then is the fragment that Maddox is trading with Irina a legitimate "mapmaker" piece like George previously said Influx was seeking? Ya know, when he lied to his daughter. Can a mapmaker piece track moving/animate debris akin to the telesphere? Are those black dust cloud beings George is running from made up of animate debris?
Bryan: After becoming a parent you're in a heightened emotional state, emotionally raw.
George: Higher highs, lower lows, the joy of having a child, the postpartum depression, and the fear of getting it wrong.
Me: Are we in a pensive, self-reflective mood, George? Are you practicing your pub trivia Bryan, delivering exposition, or are you speaking from personal character experience? Seriously, how would you know?!
John Noble as Otto, man why does he always make such a good villain?
What is with the cryptic vagueness when Maddox tells Irina, "You know I can't let you leave with that case right? I mean you know that. There's another door for you Irina, one that only you can go through." They seemed almost on good terms in a previous episode, like friends or something more in a past life "nice car, i almost left / no you didn't", he wouldn't kill her, would he? Or is it more like a code between them, a sort of "I'm being watched, take the back exit"?
Hey, so why is it that sometimes George's eye seems opaque and damaged from the debris implant, but then when he's talking to Finola after he distracts Bryan while being Debris whisperer, his eye seems fine? PS: I googled Tyrone Benskin just to see what he looks like when he's not playing George Jones and I didn't know he's a former member of Canadian Parliament. Don't trust the government, eh?
George: "You're such a compassionate person, you always have been. So much of your mother in you." That's the second time that Finola's mother has been mentioned in the series, back from the pilot. Is it a coincidence that the first piece of debris that chose to interact with Finola resonated her mom? More than just Finola's desire being reflected by the debris, but the debris emoting it's first impression of her as someone compassionate that it can trust?
It also raises my heckles that George repeats, almost word for word, something that Finola said in episode 3. "If we can't help people, we do not deserve this debris / if we don't use this debris on these people, we are not worthy to have it." Are father and daughter that ideologically similar, or has he been spying on her progress this whole time, or both?
George: "I took my life to allow myself a rebirth, I paid the price. I want you to know that not one day goes by that I don't think of you and your sister. I want you to know this." This coincides with my initial impression that George staged his death to get away from Orbital after he assessed how his research was being used/abused.
George: "You never wanted to go into the pool, I had to throw you in, and you kicked and screamed, but you always did better that way." Immabout to throw you George, just keep talking!!!! I'm sorry, this charicature of absentee father reminiscing about the good old days really ticks me off from personal experience.
Also, as a person with a disability, I am not particularly pleased with the use of Dario as a plot device instead of a thoughtful character with a backstory at this point in the show for 13 whole episodes now. Pretty pissed off actually, so they better do something phenomenal and pivotal with Christian Rose (Dario) in season 2 [maybe have his character interact with debris in a similar way to Caroline]. But that's another rant about ableism in screenwriting for another angry day....
George: "A telesphere was born yesterday. It came from a pocket dimension inside Orbital. I think it's birth may have triggered the debris." This is perhaps the one-ish episode that I find George remotely interesting and also infuriating, particularly because of the way he speaks, like he's finally taken off the guise of the old, well-meaning eccentric and turned into a sharp, cunning, and at times calculatingly ruthless individual. I find it peculiar that he says a telesphere is born. Makes me think that the debris is not just part of a spacecraft, but a hybrid of the beings piloting that craft.
I get tremendous satisfaction from Finola head-butting people. This should continue.
I'm not familiar with all of the work of JH Wyman to know if this is a running theme or an ongoing joke. But does he keep his writing staff in a constant state of starvation? Is that why pieces of debris are called "Nachos", and why Influx has "Beans" to shield them from debris side effects, and why Bryan is always eating junk food? Should I be worried about the writer's room and start sending them healthy snacks?!? Just give me an SOS in the credit roll.
Speaking of: is the "Bean" that Finola ingested a piece of debris? Similar to the pieces of debris that fused with Anson Ash? Will it impart some physical benefits to her moving forward?
"I won't lose you again...you belong with me." What are you talking about George Jones, you made the conscious decision to leave your family. You didn't lose Finola, she lost you. In this version of reality at least. Or (unscripted backstory) did Jones and his wife separate prior to her death / was Finola brought up mostly by her mother? That doesn't seem the case if she was buying her father birthday presents and took it upon herself to settle his affairs after his death.
Why do the Influx Operatives Otto and Anson have tattoos on their hands, but not Loeb? Is he like the low end of the totem pole FNG who hasn't earned his stripes, hence why Otto gives him s***: aka "Careful you cretin. All the finesse of a butcher."
What is the hierarchy of Influx anyway? Despite being an anti-government "for the people/ elevate the human consciousness" organization they do still seem to have a governing hierarchy and Otto and George seem to be on the same level, pretty high in rank / they talk with confidence to each other like they go back a while.
What is that weird thing that Otto does with his hands to Bryan's head? What are all the weird things Otto does, including his massacre at the petrol station? Ick.
Why is it that Leob and George are freaked out by the black smoke (debris particle?) man, but Anson and Otto aren't? They seem to see them(?), but don't overtly react.
Bryan: "It seems like we're entering some kind of new phase." Gee where have I heard that one before? Oh yeah, the story of "Blackwater grandfather" and the black wind that they're still teasing endlessly while refusing to tether it into some kind of world building lore. Agggghh!
Lololol, Bryan and Finola's dynamic even in the midst of a very serious episode makes me laugh. "Devon Reese / two e's? / Two e's!" "This one smells like baby diapers. Almost as bad as the tech section of the plane/ You mean your section of the plane. / Almost." That zinger 👍
Paraphrasing Bryan: "[recapping, recap, and did I mention recap]...something about George doesn't feel right." Personal pet peeve: I HATE IT when episodes have intentional explanatory lines like this to point out the fact that we as audience are privy to information that the main characters aren't. Not only does it make the main characters seem less intelligent, it breaks the fourth wall a little bit and gives the impression that the audience, which is ahead of the plot, is not as intelligent and needs a reminder that we're ahead. Lackadaisical writing drives me nuts!!! I can't outright say that it's "bad" dialogue, but it's not a choice I would make if I wanted uninterrupted viewer immersion.
Finola: "My instincts are good" Me: You are an emotionally intelligent decision maker with gaping personal blind spots.
George: You belong with me, your father.
Finola: My father died six months ago, and you are not him.
Me: Chef's kiss 👏👏👏
Otto: "It would never have worked out with that girl [Finola], not in any iteration." Definitely makes me lean towards the fan theory that the alt!Finola in (presumably) suspensia in Sedona Arizona got plucked from another reality.
Surprisingly, the ending credit roll has no voiceover as all the previous episodes of the season have. Disappointed that there's no potential teaser to a season 2 if the show gets renewed. But I find it curious that the extras who were demonstrating emotional convergence were credited as: chess board persons. Not sure if that's relevant, but I definitely feel like this show is playing games with me and my emotions.

Spoilers below!
Girl, those are dead people in those body bags! Run away!
I was pleasantly surprised that Bryan and Finola decided to tell each other what Ferris and Maddox wanted them to do. I really dislike that TV trope go-to of characters keeping secrets from each other just for dramatic effect, so BRAVO on this!
Hmm... what is this “ball of light” they keep talking about? 🤔
Well, hello there, Mikael 👋
“You have to fix your face”?! What is this, Batwoman?
This is A LOT of trust between two people who haven't known each other that long.
Uhh... what's the deal with the foil?

Season 1 dropped a number of hints about connections - between people, between the Debris, and between people and the Debris. It’s possible to look back at each episode and see the different ways in which the Debris may have been learning about humans with every encounter, and ties in to George’s theory about “emotional convergence.”
(I’m gonna drop a footnote here, because everything George has said is now suspect, but he seemed to be telling the truth about that bit.)
In overly-simplistic terms, we could say that each episode featured a connection between the Debris and certain types of human emotion and experience.
Episode 1: Grief
Episode 2: Regret
Episode 3: Absence and Worry
Episode 4: Family Bonds
Episode 5: Antagonism
Episode 6: Aging, Death and Dying
Episode 7: PTSD
Episode 8: Courage
Episode 9/10: Platonic Love
Episode 11: Memory
Episode 12: Faith and Trust
Episode 13: Emotional Convergence, and Betrayal
