I wanted to try and draw something for black history month. In celebration, I drew a tribute to a black creator who inspired my growing up, that being Dwayne McDuffie. I grew up watching a lot of shows he worked on, Static Shock, Justice League/Unlimited, and the Ben 10 franchise.

Diana, Princess of Themyscira, known to the world as Wonder Woman, stood atop the Athenian Parthenon, her golden lasso catching the eerie glow of the crimson moon. An unsettling tension coiled in the air, thicker than the scent of ancient marble and blooming jasmine. Tonight, under the malevolent gaze of the lunar eclipse, the veil between worlds thinned, and ancient horrors stirred.

Rumors had reached Themyscira of strange occurrences: shadows writhing with unnatural life, whispers echoing from forgotten temples, and an unnerving silence blanketing the usually cacophonous Athenian nightlife. Now, beneath the blood-soaked lunar canvas, those whispers coalesced into monstrous forms.

From the labyrinthine depths of the Acropolis, grotesque figures emerged – serpentine Lamia with venomous smiles, hulking Minotaurs bellowing challenges, and spectral Erynnies, their hair aflame with vengeful rage. Diana stood alone, her Amazonian training flashing through her mind, preparing for a battle unlike any she’d faced.

The ground trembled as a horde of Lamias erupted from the shadows, their hypnotic voices weaving whispers of doubt and fear. But Diana held firm, the golden lasso pulsing with divine energy. With a flick of her wrist, she snared the lead Lamia, the creature dissolving into harmless mist under the lasso’s truth-compelling magic.

But the victory was fleeting. Minotaurs charged, their horns glinting in the red light. Diana dodged their thunderous blows, her agility defying human limitations, yet each clash sent tremors through the ancient structure. She knew brute force wouldn’t be enough. These weren’t mere beasts; they were fueled by the corrupted energy of the blood moon.

As she parried a Minotaur’s attack, an unearthly shriek pierced the night. A pack of Erynnies descended, their spectral claws aimed at Diana’s exposed skin. They were creatures of vengeance, drawn to the negativity the eclipse amplified. Panic threatened to engulf her, but she remembered Themyscira’s teachings – a true warrior fought not just with strength, but with compassion.
