Grey eyes flashed silver as a cold smirk graced his features. His platinum hair gleamed against his glowing silver robes.

“Everything about you is my business, Granger” he smirked. “You made it so when you chose me.”

His mother throws the paper in front of him.

"What is this?"

Draco picks up the folded Prophet and glances at the pictures. Ah, they'd finally run the spread! He needed to remember to send a discreet gift to that photographer. "Funny, I would have through you'd be fairly familiar with the society pages." He sets the paper down and smiles at his mother across her tea table. She's set it out with enough reminders of the Malfoy Heritage that he's surprised it doesn't collapse from the weight of expectations. You can strip most of the wealth from a woman of privilege, he thinks, but never her sense that meddling in her child's life is a sacred duty. "I mean the girl. Explain the girl." Draco idly shrugs. "While I'm crushed to destroy your good opinion of me, I find that I am unable to explain women."

Narcissa Malfoy sets her cup down so vigorously that the tea sloshes over the side. "I want you to explain why you are pictured in the paper with that girl!" "And here I thought you'd be pleased to see me getting serious about a witch." He picks up a spoon and measures sugar into his cup. "Last time this subject came up you castigated me about how I wasn't doing my duty to the line and that I needed to get on producing an heir with all due haste. I simply took you at your word." He stirs and smiles at her. "She's...not appropriate." The delicate dodge makes Draco appreciate her tact. Narcissa Malfoy, with her ability to imply a great deal while saying nothing, will tell everyone who matters that her future daughter-in-law is most certainly a welcome addition without ever spelling out what that means. "Brightest witch of our age, and a war heroine?" He admires the photo of Hermione; the simple black dresses he's been pushing her to wear suit her, balance out that hair, and, as always, she's got his bracelet on her arm. He likes that she never takes it off!

“Are you sure, Hermione?” Luna asked, seeming unsure “you hair are pretty” she commented and Hermione felt herself be filled by a rush of affection for the younger witch that she could not quite explain at words. “Yes, Luna, I am sure” she said, fingering the short, burned out and blistered tresses “if we cut them a bit shorter we should take out the burned edges and they would be elegant if a bit...cool” she couldn't quite believe she had said that out loud, but Luna simply hummed along. “You were always cool to begin with, Hermione,” she commented “but I agree short hair would make you seem even prettier” Hermione looked at herself in the mirror barely recognising herself, while the physical traits were almost unchanged, thinking back on how she had always looked that seemed more like a caricature of her true appearance, and while the scars littering her whole face, neck and body might have been not beautiful to look at, Hermione though them to fit the sharp edge of her eyes and soft curl of her mouth. The face staring back at her bared an undeniable resemblance to the woman in the photo. Agnese Toscano, it was not simply Hermione's face. It was the face of the bait. The face of Nerissa Toscano. If I am to dance, dance I will. To a tune of my choosing. And I will make sure you all dance to it as well, she though, her fingertips curling gingerly at her wrist where the soft scars of the Unbreakable Vow, uncharmed, mingled with the mess of scars the extensive and confounding glamour Dumbledore had forced her under, under extreme torture for her magic and body. — from the coming chapter 6
