It had been nearly 2 months since you'd last seen Mihawk- The day he tried to give his life in a sad attempt to get you to back down.. In truth you were a hot mess for a solid week afterwards- Sobbing hysterically and having to start the process of healing all over again.

You wondered when he got so selfish- to dare treat you like that for nearly 20 years only to try a dirty move like that of wanting to die your husband- When has he ever acted like your husband? When he fucked eveything that moved or insulted your infertility to your face?

It was hard.. terrible even but you started to rebuild all over again. But luckily during those two months you prepared, knowing eventually he would return and you'd be ready.

You sat outside on the padio of your home sipping some tea, taking a gentle breath as you tried to ease yourself... you could already feel it that he was going to arrive-

As if on cue by late noon Mihawk was at your door... unlike before he didn't look like he had rolled out of a dumpster but he didn't look good either- He had lost weight, his skin looking unhealthy and heavy bags under his eyes. He wasn't taking care of himself in the slightest and it was noticable.

"Here to try again?" You said with venom in your voice- Mihawk quietly nodding as he held up the same dirty manilla envelope and this time one of his own.

"Can we just talk first?" He asked softly, You rolling your eyes but nodded and allowed him inside- leading him to the study to allows this meeting to take place. However you made it a point to set down a pistol right on your lap as a warning- Which by his gaze you could tell worried him slightly.

"...I brought back the papers and I brought some of my own. I wanted to see if this would be something you'd be interested in before a divorce" Mihawk started as he handed you the new folder her brought. Taking it you quickly opened it and saw a detailed legal contract- asking for a trial separation, both parties going to couples counseling and individual, promise of no outer relationships for 6 months to establish trust and while it didn't say that at the end you two would end up together but it was clearly implied.

"You're actually serious?-" You deadpanned, glaring at Mihawk.

"Please (Y/N)- Just hear me out.." Mihawk begged- You sighing heavily at this having just wanted the papers to be signed.

"What Mr. Dracule?" You said formally and kept a hand on the pistol.

"I can be better. It's just a temporary separation agreement. Not yet a divorce but just some time for us to- Think and maybe heal?" He suggested and you just felt angry once more.

"Heal? You think I need to heal and think about us divorcing? It is me healing and thinking being away from you Mihawk!" You yelled and he bit his lip- clearly wanting to say more to unsure which direction to go.

"And why should I?" You question, staring at him as he looked down.. you could practically see the shame running through him and the hurt in his gaze.

"Cause I can't live without you- I can't sleep knowing you're not home.. it doesn't feel like home anymore, I don't smell your perfume, don't hear you humming... it feels like I'm lost at sea without a raft and... and..." He stopped, his eyes watering as he looked at you- studying your face like he was seeing you for the first time in years.

"...I..." He sighed heavily- Bowing his head fully as if in defeat.

"You shouldnt..." He finally said which caught you off guard.

"Gods this is all my fault.. it truly is.. I disrespected you, dishonored you and broke our vows.. I have no right to sit before you and ask for anything.. I just didnt want you to absolutely detest me since I do still love you- Ive just been taking advantage of your heart for over two decades.. I see it now.." Mihawk said truthfully- You could hear the true regret in his voice. Total and utter defeat clearly humbling him in some way as he sat there before you..

"Ill sign the papers (Y/N)...I-I just wanted another chance to make this right.. I'm so sorry" He said softly, this being the first time he actually apologized for his wcruons as a whole or what he did to you- Surprise hitting your whole body.

It was silent for a few moments, Mihawk getting up and grabbing the pen from the desk and the semi soiled divorce papers. The ink from your signing runny and bleeding the paper. You doubted it would be accepted in that state-.

However despite the ruined pages he began to sign them. Your own heart breaking ever so slightly as you watched- As he was signing the last page you grabbed his hand stopping him.

"Wait- I can't believe I'm saying this.. but stop" You sigh out- Mihawk staring at you with widened eyes, You pulling away from his hand and staring at the wreck of a man.

"Mihawk I don't think I can find it in myself to forgive you... But I am willing to give the trial separation a try" You sigh, rubbing your temple softly at allowing this small thing.

Mihawks yellow eyes lighting up at hearing this- while this didn't mean you would get back together nor even avoid the divorce. However he simply wanted the chance for you two could be on better terms or even just your to not hate his guts.

"Thank you (Y/N)... Thank you"

death is devastating.

to know someone will never come back and that you'll never see them in person again, it's agonizing. especially when you have unfinished business with them.

it's like mold, growing the more you refuse to clean it. to clean it would mean to rid of the thought, how could you ever rid of that person you love?

how could mihawk ever get rid of you?

the only person who ever stood by him, who kept pushing towards him, who understood him.

the day you died, you took a piece of him with you. the day they lowered your casket into the ground, they lowered him as well. 

it's been hurting, rotting. he needs that piece of him back.

he needs you back.

which is what leads him to the graveyard, with a shovel and an empty bottle of wine. his forehead was slick with sweat, mixing in the drops of rain pouring from the night sky. the thoughts had been plaguing his mind, spotting his vision with images of you, distorted and distraught. he needed to get rid of them, to bring you back for good.

the shovel plummeted into the ground, mud plastering itself onto his wet boots. the rain continued to pour, small puddles now surrounding him. the lightning cracked, shooting through the sky. on rainy days like these, you'd often beg mihawk to watch the rain pour. he'd always decline, but now he only wishes he could go back and sit with you all those times.

there's a pile of wet dirt growing and growing, the longer he scoops its up, growing closer to where they put your body. the shovel wasn't enough, it couldn't pull enough dirt. so, he tosses it to side, gets on his knees, and begins scratching and shoveling through the dirt with his bare hands.

dirt finds itself under his usually clean nails, but he could care less. he couldn't wait any longer. his sweetheart was only a casket away.

the rain soaked his white button up, sticking to his toned body. his hair was damp, loose strands falling over his face. nobody would believe it, that the world's greatest swordsman was on his knees, digging up his deceased lover. it was pathetic, sad, how someone as simple as you had him throwing his pride away.

his fingers felt the touch of a hard surface, his stomach dipping. there it was, the box that held the only thing he wanted. for a moment, a grin stretches across his face. it's maniacal. his eyes were blown, the once hazel orbs now full-on gold, glowing in the rainy night.

his hands grip the sides of the casket, nails digging into the wood. with all his might, he pulls over the lid, finally revealing it. you.

there you laid, eyes closed. mihawk chuckled sadly. you were as beautiful as you were the day you died. your skin was drained of color, sickly looking. he only stared at you for a moment, taking in your image. he couldn't believe it. you were finally back, in front of him. with him, right where you belonged.

a droplet of rain falls onto your face, breaking mihawk out his trance. he scrambles to grab your limp body, holding you close to his wet body. he kissed your face, lacking the warmth you once carried with your presence. mihawk spoke softly, voice slightly cracking.

"shh . . . i know it's cold, my love. we'll be back home soon, in warmth, together."

the world's greatest swordsman had lost his mind.

@giurochedadomani is the one that put me on the idea. But in a world were Rayleigh is Mihawk’s father despite the tragedy I’m sure this would hold (which I probably will talk about when the gods see got to bless me with articulation) it is also comedic gold.

Because Rayleigh is an extremely powerful man he also dresses like a bum and he’s probably where Shanks learned it from and Mihawk will forever resent him for introducing Shanks to sandals.

He’d also probably really hate that Roger, ROGER, has more style than his dad. And he does with that red coat red hat combo. And the fact that when we saw them younger Rayleigh was still dressed like a bum while Roger was rocking a classic black leather jacket blue jeans look. This indignity alone might actually kill him

He’s also probably call him Rayleigh, not dad, not pops, occasionally he’ll call him Father (mostly when he was younger) and there will be a dedicated vein in Rayleigh head that throbs every-time he does this.

Also Rayleigh will look at 43 year old, greatest swordsman in the world Mihawk and call him out on being a brat and it will take everything that Mihawk has plus Shanks begging him, to stop him from running the man through.

But he’d also get seriously offended if anyone implied that they were surprised they were related.

I kind of sort of want to do a little thing about Shanks convincing Mihawk for the very first time to stay over for a drink because he proposes a bit of a truth or dare game and Mihawk severely underestimates how good Shanks can read him and how hard it is to think about something to ask that would actually embarrass him enough to make him do a dare.

The two of them had a chance encounter on an island in the New World… and now they’re seeing Hitsugibune approaching from this distance almost daily. Mihawk is consistently invited onboard for dinner by Shanks after they draw, which leads to staying for drinks, which leads to staying even later talking, and…

Roger and Rayleigh quickly start taking bets on how long it’ll take those two will realize that their incredibly obvious flirting is mutual and get their shit together.

We all know how a lot of Luffy's opponents have been in some ways premonitions of the type of person Luffy could end up as if something went wrong in his life. For example Moria is what Luffy could've become had he truly lost his entire crew at Sabaody if Kuma had not saved them

And we know Crocodile is what Luffy maybe could've become had Luffy given up on his dreams and become jaded after losing to him. But like, when you think about it, that's not the only dark reflection of Luffy in Crocodile, is it

'Cause Crocodile, despite employing people for Baroque Works, did not trust anyone around him and did not considder anyone to be anything else but an employee to him. And we know he had been planning on taking over Alabasta for like 14 years (at the very least), BW being a thing for only the past four (pre-timeskip)

So like. Did Crocodile spend the last 14 years alone

Like yes he had his workers at the Casino and Robin etc, so he was like, around people, he wasn't like Brook who was in Total Isolation. But on an emotional level, has he not spent the last 14 years all by himself, completely detached from anyone, unable to trust or rely on anyone else?

That is sad as fucking shit, holy hell

'Cause then you compare him to like Luffy and like

Our sweet baby boy was so afraid of being alone that Luffy literally went through hell just to gain Ace's approval despite Ace trying to signal to him he wasn't interested befriending him

And through out the whole series Luffy reiterates time and time again how he needs and wants his friends around because he literally can't live without them, both on a literal "he can't cook or navigate or have fun by himself" level but also on that emotional level

And Crocodile just. Spent 14 years of his life, if not longer, alone.

And that just makes me further wonder, what the absolute fuck were Crocodile's Rookie Pirate days like?? Like did he have a crew or was he just yolo'ing it by himself???

Like. Mihawk's never been on a crew as far as we know. Kuma was a Revolutionary, not a pirate, but he wasn't like alone still. Doflaming, Hancock, Jinbei and Moria however have/had crews of their own. So what was Crocodile's deal? Did he have a crew before? Was he a captain or was he on someone else's ship? (Although surely the Government wouldn't offer the position of a Shichibukai to a cabin boy or the first mate, right)

And if he did have a crew, the hell happened to them??

Like we know Crocodile got his ass kicked by Whitebeard, I just find it unlikely Whitebeard would've pulled a Kaidou on Crocodile's crew and slaughtered them, that's not a very Whitebeard-y thing do, right?? ...Unless Whitebeard was just different 20+ years ago and was willing to annihilate entire crews. We don't know. Or maybe Crocodile and his entire crew were like Turbo Rotten from the beginning and Whitebeard figured they deserved to get wiped out, much like how we saw Shanks wipe out Kid's crew at Elbaf. Or maybe Whitebeard saw no reason to have mercy on someone affiliated with the World Government.

That all said, if we wanted to assume Crocodile had somekind of trauma that lead to him viewing people not only as disposable but also untrustworthy, then maybe losing people dear to him like that wouldn't lead to that mindset. Like Moria witnessed his beloved crew die and that caused him to want to create a crew he couldn't die, so he wouldn't go through that emotional trauma again.

Which leaves me to wonder. If something caused him to lose his ability to (emotionally) trust people, and if Whitebeard broke his dreams... Maybe Crocodile had a crew. And maybe they abandoned him when he lost to Whitebeard. Figuring they didn't need a weak captain who was probably going to bleed to death anyways. Or maybe the crew tried to take his head (after Whitebeard kicked his ass), after all, he was already a Shichibukai, anybody who took Crocodile's head could maybe attempt to take that title for themselves if the Government allowed it, and if not, at least gain more fame for themselves.

Either of these scenarios would certainly result in you losing your ability to rely on others. And leave you willing to spend the rest of your life alone. Who would have in them to go through that again.

Or maybe he came out of the womb unable to trust people and he was just yolo'ing it by himself like Mihawk right from the begining, who knows

🌙 traveling together for the first time ↳ w/ Kid, Killer, Rayleigh & Mihawk

So you’re in love. You think you know each other inside out. And you’re going on your first vacation together. Good luck, my child, you’ll need it.

Kid

You’re going by car because this man is not allowed within a 5 miles radius of any airport

You just know it’s because he thought this list of forbidden things in hand baggage was just a friendly recommendation and not serious, making him throw a whole tantrum in the security line when they wouldn’t let him through

A thing that occured not just once according to an anonymous source (blonde long hair waving in the wind, smoking a lone cigarette, a single tear running down behind a mask)

Fine, whatever. You can go by car, no big deal 

Except that Eustass “Road Rage” Kid is putting on his “Calm & Focus” playlist including breathing instructions already and you haven’t even been on the road for 20 minutes 

You can tell that he is trying for you, he really does

His middle finger on the steering wheel twitches, he coughs loudly several times instead of barking out insults towards other drivers and he tries to smile through gritted teeth which looks painful

You coax him to pull over at the next stop, taking his face in your hands to make him look at you

“Kid. I love you. Yes, that’s my first time saying it out loud, but listen. Listen. It pains me seeing you like this. So, either we switch places or you go back to your unhinged self and let it all out. Because honestly, I find it quite sexy when you’re getting hot-headed…”

It’s like a weight drops off Kid’s shoulders as he visibly relaxed in an instant

The kiss he pulls you in is heavy on tongue, leaving you breathless before he switches to his favorite playlist again that can best be described as loud

A few hours and many flipped fingers and hollered out insults later you finally arrive at the resort and as you watch Kid from the bed going through his 12 step skin care night routine, you can’t help but smile to yourself

We can all agree that Killer is the perfect boyfriend

This will also show when he’s taking on the noble task to plan your first vacation together

He’ll make a booklet with suggested destinations and accomodations according to your budget, a travel plan with the cheapest flights, special deals he found and also a culinary list of places to eat (of course keeping in mind if you have any intolerances)

Killer will take care of everything from booking to getting the rental car, all you have to do is follow the plan he emailed you weeks prior, including a checklist of things to pack (that will get updated with the weather forecast)

On the day of travel he makes sure to remember everything. Passports? Turned off the oven and flatiron? Watered the plants? There’s a list for everything, promise

Something unexpected happening on the way to the airport? No worries, Killer also calculated that in, years on board of the Victoria Punk prepared him for any kind of troubles occuring

If you’re running late for boarding, Killer will simply put his travel crocs into sports mode, grab your luggage and throw you over his shoulder, speeding to your gate

That is after he made the whole staff at the security check fall in love with him after taking off his mask 

To surprise you, he also secretly upgraded you into first class to make the start into your first vacation together as relaxed as possible

And what impresses you the most is that he doesn’t seem to be stressed out at all, he handles everything with the calmness that made you fall so hard for him in the first place

Make sure to kiss him long and often, even if it’s not on the timetable – Killer will always make room for this occurrence and humbly embrace it, his slight blush hidden by the long hair falling into his face

This one is a little short on money due his bad gambling addiction, but he’s way too charming to be mad at him for that 

Rayleigh suggests a staycation instead, because home is where the heart is anyway, right?

He’ll kiss your pouting face until it will turn into a smile again, and kiss you some more until you’ve forgotten why you were sulky in the first place

Rayleigh will invite you over to his place for a long weekend, nothing new, but when you step into the familiar place you whistle appreciatively through your teeth

Not only was his flat spotless, but he also built a blanket fort in the living room, decorated with fairy lights and a picnic basket waiting at the entrance filled with wine and all your favorite snacks

If the weather allows it, Rayleigh will take you on a midnight stroll for some stargazing, holding you in his arms and coming up with fake constellations together until your cheeks hurt from smiling and your heart is just so full of him

Rayleigh is a man who has seen every last corner of the world, and when you’re back in the blanket fort together, he will tell you all about his adventures, promising you he will take you on one soon

He’ll just let himself be sold as a slave again and then rob the seller, no big deal

Little does he know that you don’t need any big adventures when the thing that brought you joy the most was lying next to him and feeling his lips on yours, pouring love into every fiber of your body

“Why do you want to go on a vacation, my love? We’re literally living in a castle. I’m sure you haven’t even explored every room yet.”

Mihawk’s golden eyes might be fixated on the newspaper in his hands, but you can tell that he’s genuinely listening and going through every possible scenario in his head 

Going on vacation for a fun time? Why, aren’t you having fun at home with him?

Who will take care of the garden when you’re gone? He just planted tomatoes for the season, don’t you know that the young plants need extra care in this state?

What about the baboons? They’ll get lonely for sure

You might still be young and unfazed but his back hurts whenever he sleeps in a bed that isn’t his, but would he ever confess that to you? Absolutely not

Things were going so well between you two, but would you still love him if he admitted that he was a homebody through and through and vacations weren’t necessarily his thing?

His trail of thoughts gets interrupted when you grab the newspaper and take his hands into yours, seeking his gaze 

“Mihawk. I love you. We don’t have to travel somewhere far away. Let’s just have a beach day somewhere nearby and we’ll be home for dinner, okay?”

Now… how should he explain to you that he also loathed the beach, the unapologetic sun, the hot sand that’s everywhere for the following week, the…

He sighs and pulls you in his lap, wrapping his arms tight around your waist, maybe to make sure you won’t try to run away from him for what he is about to tell you, ripping off that bandaid because after all he is a honest man

In the end you still go to the beach where Mihawk watches you in the shade of the big parasol, fully dressed, reading his book about sustainable farming and sipping a cocktail through a twisted frilly straw 

He is fine for as long as you come to kiss him every 10 minutes and ask him to leave early because, granted, there’s no place like home with him

Shit, i am so hooked. I had to draw it, visualize the pretty boy that is going through hell.

Read the whole thing in one night. Couldn't stop, cried some much, got anxious and dragged into the dark world of this. Now, i have to wait for the next chapter at the most drowning cliffhanger. - the Shimotsuki-Dracule siblings, where in a Kuina lives! (but is severely injured/paralyzed) AU, Zoro gets to be hounded by not only little sister Perona, but also Big Sis Kuina (bonus if modern au)

- Zosan gets accidentally married at WCI AUs cause why not, it's absolutely hilarious

- I somehow didn't mention Agatha/Gil/Tarvek last time? But yeah, from Girl Genius, I want them to get married and rule Europia, is that too much to ask?

anyways, yandere mihawk is so intimidating.

even though he doesn’t want to, his darling is scared shitless from him

and because he’s so scary, anytime he doesn’t want her to do something he just give her an annoyed look, but to her it’s like he’s death glaring at her and wants to kill her entire family and make her watch.

he would be so upset that she is scared of him, but kinda glad that she can’t escape cuz of that fear.

on another note, he is a gothic romantic but sprinkle a bit of cheesy romance in there too :,)
