Chapter 3: Keen
Sita's note: Imagine lying to a police officer lol
Tumblr media
When Akhtar brought Kainat home, the whole family stalled, thinking he got married. He already had this responsibility, how was he going to get married now? The breath of relief they exhaled upon clarification sent Akhtar in confusion and made Kainat smile to herself.
It was a sweet family of four people, the kind of family Kainat often dreamed of. A supportive mother, a loving sister and a present father. Somehow, somewhere, Kainat envied Akhtar. Kainat soon got to know that they have a mechanic shop. She promised that as much as she is welcomed home, she won't extend her stay for long.
The only person she didn't understand was Ram. He was serious, yet kind looking man. There were glimpse of hope yet burden in his eyes, and she was keen to know more. Besides, years of training has told her how to read the face of a man. Their first meeting, as she felt, was tolling on him. She didn't understand if he was an ally to the police- perhaps yes. Maybe he was an inside informer. Spies reigned the streets of Lahore- she couldn't be trusting of anyone, anywhere. Kainat felt closer to her goal of freedom after coming to Delhi. The underground and informal meetings, exchange of information and knowledge, planning revolts and revolutions- she wanted to be a part of all of it. And it wasn't possible from the back of her horse cart.
But Delhi was not as easy to fit in, just like this family. Kainat always spent most of her time alone in Shahi Mahal, and sometimes she sprawled upon Khwabgah, doing her art. She painted various murals, only for them to be covered with dust instead of praises. Kainat wondered if she could do all of that here. But this close knit family reminded her that sometimes the best moment comes from just spending time together. Rehana was occasionally kind, but never hated Kainat. Mallika for some reason, did.
The expressions that planted on Kainat's face were only readable to Ram. She felt lucky to be invited to this lunch, eating with everyone. Ram could see the gratefulness on her face. But that raised questions in his mind. Kainat sat next to Akhtar, across Ram. Picking up her spoon, she began to eat when Akhtar pulled it back. "Eat from your hands, that's more fulling" Ram stared at Kainat, who hesitated but followed Akhtar. The way she took small bites, her hands, her lips, everything was elegant about her. Ram's gaze was interrupted when he felt Akhtar tapping his knee and smiling to himself.
Kainat saw Akhtar almost everyday, but he never really asked or interrogated about her background. She often told her Lahore stories to his younger sister anyways although Kainat never saw Ram. She wanted to thank Akhtar and his family, so she took up the kitchen to make Chicken Biryani for them.
She sat away from them, watching and serving when needed. As they huddled around the huge plate, the graceful Kainat died inside. Ram and Akhtar devoured the dish twice the speed of everyone else. On one incident, Akhtar used both his hands to eat. "Akhtar bhaiya, eat from your right hand!" She remarked, when she felt Ram's hot gaze at her. "How does it matter, I'm gonna eat it anyways" Akhtar's reply took away Ram's attention. "You come and eat too" Akhtar looked at Kainat.
Everyone relaxed after the meal, and Ram saw Kainat cleaning the kitchen up, following her. "What was your name again?" Ram's velvety voice shocked Kainat, making her jump. She looked back to see Ram leaning against the door frame, his eyes fixated on her. She turned around to face him. "Kainat" she muttered. "And where do you come from, in Lahore?"
"Heer-" a realisation dawned on Kainat; what if he knew about her birthplace? "Heer?" Kainat saw Ram straining to hear more. "Near Heeramandi" she said, her breaths getting shorter. "And why did you come to Delhi?" Kainat thought hard- would it hurt to tell the truth? "My sister was going to sell me to someone, after our parents died. She wanted everything my father has written in his will for me. So I ran away" Kainat looked down, her hands fiddling. "Do you belong to any royalty or just a rich family?" The poor girl looked up at Ram again. "Rich family, my father's business boomed" she wondered if that's how children with fathers talk. "And how l-" "you ask too many questions" Kainat couldn't help but notice. "Even Akhtar bhaiya didn't ask as many" she smiled, looking at Ram's mouth agape. His expression turned to a sincere and serious one, as he moved closer to her, step by step.
"And that's why I have to." Ram's breath hit her, his voice audible to only them. Kainat's smile fell. They stared at each other for what seemed to be a long time, when they were interrupted by a voice outside. "Kainat, can you make tea for everyone?"
She moved almost immediately, turning around to pick up the pan and filled it with water. Kainat reached her hand out to pick up the steel box of tea leaves, only to find it empty. She could still feel Ram staring at her every move, but she said nothing. Ammi did say in the morning where the box of tea leaves is, but it was too up for Kainat. She tried to pick it up, but her fingers slid it back on the shelf. Kainat could feel a presence around her, closer than where Ram was. She turned around to see Ram picking up the box. He breathed down Kainat's neck, his fingers barely grazing the box. "Maybe I should move" she began to escape the close space, only to be stopped by Ram's denial. "No, I got it" he said, handing the box to her now.
Kainat muttered a small thanks, and put two spoons of leaves in the boiling water, when she felt Ram's lips almost touching her ear. "If I found that you're lying, there'd be repercussions". A chill went down her spine, but before she could turn and see him- the kitchen was empty.

What experience I would give as a statement to Jonathan Sims, Head Archivist of the Magnus Institute, London? Statement fucking begins...
Summer after GCSEs, whole fam picks up and goes to India for 3 weeks
Listen we are hubristic. We literally go from Britain to Turkey to Delhi airport, to a different airport, to Banaras in a taxi, to Siliguri in a sleeper train, to Kalimpong in a car, back to Siliguri in a van, then to Kolkata in a sleeper bus, to Dhakha, Bangladesh by plane, to my grandparents place in Sylhet by car, then back to Dhakha, then back to Delhi, then back to Turkey and then back to Britain.
Tell me we didn't have at least one entity on our side.
None of us got ill. We had a 6 yr old with us. She didn't complain one bit. I'm 100% sure I blacked out for the majority of it. No other explanation than paranormal.
Those sales assistants in shops have to be fucking avatars of the web or something the way they fucking smile and you until you've blinked and you've bought 3 lehengas and she's like very good ma'am
I met my grandma's sister who looks exactly like my grandma, speaks the exact same way, acts the exact same way. It was so uncanny I could've sworn she just was her. Probably very normal explanation (genetics) but we can never be sure.
I made friends with a hand sized spider in a bathroom by singing "Mr spider, please don't kill me" in the tune of Mr sandman to it every day. It disappeared on the last day. (giving spiral)
I got myself an Indian accent. I am not Indian. (Most of my family is from Bangladesh, I was born there) I am not good at accents. I'm not sure how this transpired (could be some elaborate sociolinguistics explanation but I'm gonna go with paranormal)
We went on a massive family day out with cousins to a river near the mountains and we all had a great time until this little menace of a cousin literally got carried away by a current and we were terrified until one of my uncles literally grabbed him by the leg and yanked him out right before he would've gotten completely carried away. I don't think that's pure luck, personally.
My aunts staged an intervention for me about my posture (Not supernatural, Im just salty)
My dad successfully convinced some strangers who sat next to him on the plane that the reason me and my siblings spoke such good English was that we went to an English medium school. When pressed, he came up with the most elaborate story ever. He gave them a random school we went to, told them we were his boss' kids and he was taking us home, bullshitted a company and then when one of them went oh my dad is a higher up in that company, he says oh didn't he retire recently and the guy goes yeah he did! We are completely oblivious of this story, until he leans over and tells us not to call him dad for the rest of the plane journey. If that's not fucking Stranger behaviour then what is.
We get home, exhausted out of our minds and we realise we can't find our fucking front door key. We pile into the back garden and proceed to search through the entirety of our bags, trouser pockets, pockets within bags, we're all on the verge of tears, I'm catatonic, my little sister has picked up a stick and is slowly peeling it, my other sister is the only one actually looking and my dad is staring at the luggage, as if it had grown legs and was doing a little dance right before his eyes. We do find the keys after 20 minutes. We never mention this again. That's fucking paranormal shit right there don't even try to convince me otherwise. Michael the distortion was fucking with us.
Statement ends... (Although that's definitely not even half the shit that happened)
Watch Jonathan "Jarchivist" Sims crumble beneath my experiences. Hes so bamboozled that he forgets to try and discredit me. I bring him a packet of laddoos and some aachar.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Four Of Wands: You may be getting some goods news, y'all !! The Four Of Wands is generally a very happy card. Whatever this is, this is gonna be different for all of you, whether it's a reunion with an old friend, a lover or a family member you've been wanting to reconnect with, a success, going to a cool party or a cool place, maybe even for some of y'all I'm& getting that y'all could even be getting engaged or married & whatever this is, that's awesome !! I& feel like a lot of y'all feel like you won't deserve this, but I'm& telling you, you absolutely do. You don't need to "earn" happiness no matter what anybody tells you, that's your birthright. I& need you to cherish that moment, fuck the past, fuck the future, this is YOUR moment. This is pure happiness. You deserve this. Rejoice. India could be significant to you, Indian culture could be significant to you, you yourself could be Indian or have Indian ancestry, the deity Mohini (the only female avatar of the deity Vishnu) and Aravan (he appears in the Hindu epic Mahabharata, the son of Pandava prince Arjuna one of the main heroes of Mahabharata & the Naga princess Ulupi, he is the central deity of the religion of Kuttantavar & plays a major role in the sect of Draupadi, he's worshipped in the form of his severed head as an offering to the goddess Kali to ensure the success of the Pandavas & is believed to cure diseases & induce pregnancy in childless women, & is worshipped as a village deity, a patron god of well known trans and/or intersex and/or eunuch communities in India called Alis, Aravani in Tamil & Hijra throughout South Asia such as India, Pakistan, Bangladesh & Nepal although the Hijra community in India prefer to call themselves Kinnar or Kinner while in Pakistan, they are called Khawaja Sira, that originated in ancient Hinduism & evolved during the Delhi Sultanate from 1226-1526 to the Mughal Empire from 1526-1707 where they were servants for elite households, manual laborers, military commanders, political advisors, & guardians of the harem, most of whom are AMAB though occasionally intersex & have a feminine gender expression; on the night before the battle, Aravan expressed a desire to get married before he died, no woman was willing to marry a man doomed to die in a few hours, so Mohini married him, hijras claim Aravan as their progenitor and call themselves aravanis) could be significant (I&... IF THIS APPLIES TO A LOVE SITUATION ARE Y'ALL T4T), you yourself could be a Hijra, you could be Hindu or follow deities from Hinduism. The number 4 could be significant, but then again, this IS the 4th month of the year. The Suit of Wands represents the Fire element so Aries, Sagittarius & Leo could be important. Whatever it is, have fun !
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Moon: This is extremely ironic considering this question represents the moon & your subconscious. I& feel like you may have a lot of hidden feelings about this situation or a person. I& think you spent so long thinking everything isn't going to work out that when finally something or someone that does come around that makes you happy, you're afraid. I& feel like for a lot of y'all, y'all are some real melancholic anguished people. Maybe it's because of a past wound, a mistake, insecurity or for some of you maybe even a trauma that tells you don't deserve happiness especially regarding this situation or you feel like it's gonna be torn & ripped away from you & that's honestly really sad. You deserve to feel good about yourself & your life. I& ironically enough get a lot of traumatized people who come to my& readings & I'm& a DID system so that shouldn't be too surprising, I& guess. The number 18 could be significant, whether it's a day, a lifepath or a birthday. Japan could be significant, Japanese culture could be significant, you yourself could be Japanese or have Japanese heritage yourself, the Princess Kaguya from either traditional Japanese folklore and/or Naruto could be significant, tanukis could be significant, too. The Moon is ruled by Cancer so you could be a Cancerian or have those placements.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
King Of Cups: You need to address your compassion for yourselves my& loves. See, how this story goes with the Boy & The Dragon Pearl is that this fierce, powerful dragon was once a little boy. I& think you have to delve into your past wounds & ask yourself why you feel this way & why you feel the ways that you do. Dragons are highly sacred creatures in Chinese mythology & they are powerful & wise, but instead of controlling & breathing fire like their Western counterparts, these dragons manipulate water. Your consciousness wants you to address your life & what brought you here & have patience & compassion for yourself above all else. You already have the potential to become this glorious dragon. You deserve devotion, loyalty, & faithfulness & generosity towards yourself & if you have a partner or for the ones who could be getting engaged or married, let them in. If they love you, they'll be there. You don't have to do this alone anymore. Let this person (or people) help you. China could be significant, Chinese culture could be significant, you yourself could be Chinese and/or have Chinese ancestry, dragons may be significant to you, you or someone significant to you could've been born on the Year of The Dragon (1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012, for some people I'm getting you or someone you know could even be pregnant & your baby or the baby of someone you know will be born in 2024) you yourself could be dragonkin if you resonate with the otherkin or alterhuman label, if you're a system you could have dragon system members, and the Suit of Cups controls the Water element so Cancer, Scorpio & Pisces may be significant, which is ironic because I'm& both a Cancerian & a Dragon so I& needed that too, ehehe.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Tower: This just confirmed my& suspicions, yeah. The Tower represents a massive change, an upheaval, a catastrophe, a revelation or sometimes even trauma. I& feel like for a lot of you, you need to let whatever this traumatic incident go in order to advance in your life. Believe me&, I& know how hard that is, I'm& not saying this is gonna happen overnight, & this isn't me& saying "shut up & get over it", this is me& saying "if you're going to see everyone the way you did this situation, it's not going to end well & you may end up pushing people who are genuinely trying to help you away" but you're going to need to at least try & work on whatever this incident was. Whatever it was, this was unfair to you & it didn't deserve to happen to you. It's okay to leave this behind so you can move forward in your life. But you don't have to face this alone, okay? There are people who are willing to help you. If you need it & have the means, contact a therapist and/or a medical professional. The number 16 could be significant, the Tower is ruled by Aries so that could be significant which is ironic because this is Aries season, Germany may be significant to you, German culture could be significant, you yourself could be German or have German ancestry, the Princess Rapunzel could be significant as well (for some of you, maybe you even have long hair, whether it's natural or wigs ehehe!), I'm& getting for some of y'all, the movie Tangled could be significant & it may have some subliminal messages for you.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Sun: With the tower crumbling down, the sun will always rise again & again. You can begin a new life for yourself. As Ethel Cain once said, "if it's meant to be, it will be". I& know it's hard but you can do it. Your path can have illumination, satisfaction, optimism & enthusiasm. You can feel joy again. Everything is going to be okay. The number 19 could be significant to you, Egypt could be significant to you, Egyptian culture may be significant, you yourself could be Egyptian, the Egyptian sun deity Ra could be significant or you may even work with him as a devotee or he may be reaching out to you & want to work with you, you yourself could be a Kemetic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Hierophant: The Sun, Moon, Past & Future want you to know that you have to balance yourself in order to walk this new path & grow from your experiences. The Hierophant represents tradition, compassion & legacy; there is a place for everyone & everyone has a place in the world. I& can confirm this. As an indigenous person, I've& been taught by my& elders that everyone & everything has a place in the world. Connect to your community & likeminded people, connect (or reconnect if applicable) to your culture(s) & if you have a faith with a spiritual leader that you trust, seek their advice. Help people out & especially those in need if you have the means to do so. Let your loved ones know you love them & how much they mean to you. The number 5 could be significant, you yourself could be indigenous to Turtle Island / North America or have indigenous ancestry (hi bestie!!!!), some of you may be Lakota yourselves, & the White Buffalo Woman could be significant to you. If you're Native, do me& a favor & smudge the shit out of your space besties. For the rest of you, protect Native women & hold Native girls, women & Two Spirits in your hearts.

鈻笌 IPKKND Ep 113 : Heartbreak and new toxic challenge*
The new challenge* being who will confess they care for the other first aka admiting their feelings ...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When he goes back to Khushi's house to bring her wallet, it was another attempt to fix what he had done. He can't bear the thought of not seeing her ever again but her job is over.
Just like he was hating on that padlock on her door before when he thought she was leaving Delhi for good, and the bar on her windows just after he left her on the street alone at night, he don't want her to close the door, her home, her heart to him completely.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even if at this moment he's still hurt by her rejection to hear his explanation and her unwillingness to confess her feelings, prideful and angry, he brave himself to ask her again.
Arnav could've find an excuse to refuse khushi's invitation to enter, but he didn't. Khushi is shocked seeing him enter. The last time he came in her house was when he bought her home after fainting. This same aunt ordered him to leave. So this time, by entering, it's his way to repair the relationship is has with her family, which prove he doesn't (even right now) have the desire, the will to really get Khushi out of his life. He never ever from the first day let his door close to her !
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Khushi always preventing Arnav from eating suggar shows him how much she cares for his safety. It always touch him, he feels her possiveness through her acts of protection.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I really like this scene where he walks towards Khushi's father to offer him his greetings. After all he's his future father-in-law (he has that thought in his mind for sure lol), he couldn't afford not show him the respect of his position. And he does in such an elegant way. "If you need any kind of help, then please let me know."
Tumblr media
He truly means his words. He will protect Khushi with all his heart but also her family. Khushi's father definitely notices it, he seems to have meet someone who'll protect his daughter better than himself.
Khushi thanking him was her way to show him that she doesn't want them to part in anger, they could be friends, she won't mind even if it means her having to hide her feelings and to never spoke about them. She wants to see him again.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Don't think a rich man embraced your payal with all his heart !" In Arnav's twisted mind, it was his way to let her know few glimpse of his feelings ! Our man is soooo twisted, I'm so tired !! 馃槶
Notice his actions, always, not his words. Yes, he's pushing her yet again with his cruel words (Asr). But Arnav went to her house and just met her family, that's what he do for her, how he braves himself to fix the situation.
And when she stops him, instead of confessing she cares, she's thanking him, willing to move on and not confessing anything to him: to let him go and be happy without her. Understanding what she's doing, he gets very angry because even after showing her what he do just for her (willing to tell her about her payal while giving it back to her, trying to repair his reputation in front of her family, creating another occasion to allow themselves to break the ice by knocking on her door to give her back her wallet), she still won't brave herself to show her feelings like he just did.
"It doesn't mean anything. Neither that matter nor you have any importance to me" These last words broke Khushi's heart unquestionably.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These words confirmed her fear, a fear that was there from the moment she understood they shared a strange intense attraction.
She feared and now believes Arnav just attempted to kiss her because he was simply mired in his physical desire for her. It was just physical/s-xual, nothing else. She doesn't deserve more, and his attraction for her is something he's ashamed of !

My poor baby !!! 馃槶馃槶馃槶

hi again! also another tip for dealing with low iron is to use iron cookware, it's used in indian cooking to help compensate for low iron. basically the idea is that your food absorbs a bit of the iron every time you cook with it :)
though i wouldn't recommend using any acidic veggies like tomato as the food can taste a little iron-y. tbh i just tolerate it bit something to keep in mind. it's a pain to wash generally since i always hand wash it to keep it in good condition.
i think another issue is also being able to find 'fresh' produce as well. supermarkets are the most easily accessible source, but the produce is usually 'old' due to transportation and storage. once you've tasted 'fresh' veggies, you can really tell the difference. i really sympathise with you, eating healthy and ethically is really fucking hard. there's bad shit in everything you consume. unless you have the time, money, and resources to grow everything yourself it's impossible to eat 'fully clean'.
something interesting i've noticed in developing countries like africa and india is that they usually have better access to higher quality of produce which relatively cheaper. for example, you could drive for 20 mins in outer delhi and be able to buy produce fresh from the ground. there's literally roadside veggie stalls and there's a farm right behind it. likewise, for grains i could go and buy freshly milled wheat flour and grains with similar convenience.
this obviously goes for areas that are not 'rural' but even those communities have a system set up to be able to access fresh food of some sort.
sorry for the essay, i'm really excited to find someone who's also trying it eat healthy!
ohh that's really interesting! I should buy some more proper cast iron cookware . I never would've thought that there were health benefits!
yeah areas that are less industrialized seem to have much more delicious & healthy food bc it's more of a farm to table situation & the soil isn't absolutely ruined. I notice this even when I'm in more rural areas here in the US, produce from a small town farmers market & produce from my local jewel tastes SO different it's insane. I'd like to grow my own food someday. My mom has a little herb garden in our backyard & she also grows tomatoes & radishes & carrots & a few other things that are suitable for our climate & they taste better than storebought too! just a lot fresher .

Day 26: #roadtrip
Welcome back everyone! For those of you who read yesterday鈥檚 blog post, Snehaa and I decided to switch it up a little. Not only was she busy documenting our day for the blog, but she also was busy taking over the Northeastern Instagram page. And I鈥檓 not talking about the Northeastern GEO page. I mean the actual official Northeastern Instagram page. Like the one with 109k followers. She did an amazing job by the way- go Snehaa!
Anyway, here we are. A new day, a new blog post. Today鈥檚 itinerary was pretty simple. 4 hour bus ride to Agra, Taj Mahal, 4 hour bus ride to Delhi. #roadtrip Yes, you did the math correctly, that is approximately 8 hours on the bus (not including bus traffic!) and we made it out alive. However, I will say those 8 hours felt like an eternity. To show you what our journey looked like here is a screenshot of Apple Maps (not showing the traffic that we did unfortunately hit)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The morning started out in high spirits. Well, as high as they could be for that early 7am departure from the Lemon Tree hotel in Jaipur. Most people took the first hour or so to sleep, and by the time we started unopening the packed breakfast, we were all awake and ready to see the Taj. (Compliments to the wonderful hotel staff who packaged up some breakfast foods for us to eat on the bus!) Please enjoy the photo of Scott dancing along to some song playing in his earbuds. Pictured below is also a photo of us enjoying some toast before the bus left.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Olivia and I also had purchased some fun snacks for this bus ride and filmed a few fun taste test videos. Here is a fun screenshot I took from when we tried the Spanish Tomato Tango Lays chip and were cheers-ing. We even got Prof. Duane to try it with us.
While I will not be putting those on this blog post, please note that we enjoyed most of the snacks we tried and it was a good way to pass the time. We took a quick pit stop to use the restroom and quickly browse the souvenir store, and then were on our merry way to Agra.
Tumblr media
As soon as we stepped off the bus the hawkers sprang into action and throwing necklaces, magnets, and key chains in our faces, but no one stopped to buy. At least not right then. A short golf cart ride later and we were at the East Entrance to get a quick lesson on the Taj鈥檚 history. Fun fact: it took 22 years to build and there are 22 white domes that make up the Taj. One for each year it took to build! I'm not going to lie, pictures do not do it justice, but nonetheless, please enjoy.
We also learned that the inscription highlighted in one of those pictures is an optical illusion. The writing at the top is written bigger, but because of the longer distance from the viewer, it appears to be the same size as the text at eye-level!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Let鈥檚 just say that it鈥檚 one of the seven wonders for a reason. It鈥檚 absolutely breathtaking, and we were lucky because the crowds didn鈥檛 seem too bad. We stopped at several stops to take individual photos, as well as a group shot. The photographer that took some of our photos was very keen on getting everyone one to do one of his guided poses.
I thought about putting in some of those individual photos here, but for all you parents out there- I decided to not spoil the surprise. Ask your kids for their photos! For now, just enjoy a few of the smaller group shots we took :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
By the time most of the Instagram-worthy photos were taken, we were starting to get pretty hot and ready to move on to see the inside. Once we got inside the mausoleum, we weren鈥檛 allowed to take any photos. There was a security guard who had a whistle at the ready to tell off any visitors for taking photos. So, in the meantime, please enjoy this photo I got online that shows that the the beautiful inside looked like (below; left)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once we finished walking our little circle around the tombs, we were ready to wrap this tour up. Like I said, the Taj is absolutely beautiful, but at that point, we were all ready to get out of the heat and continue along on our journey. So we made our way to the exit, stopped to purchase any desired photographs from the photographer, got swarmed by hawkers again, and then finally got on the bus.
We stopped at a McDonalds for a to-go lunch to eat as we continued to drive the 4 hours to Delhi. I鈥檓 not entirely sure if the drive was closer to 5 hours or not, but it certainly felt like it. With a full day of traveling, we were all glad to see the sign for the Eros Hotel. For dinner, some people ordered take-out, while a group went to a local food court down the street that Teddy found. (Giving credit where credit is due) We ate at a Pan-Asian restaurant and then briefly scoped out the scene for a potential spot to hang out at tomorrow night. Stay tuned to find out if we actually end up going back to there or not. Well that鈥檚 it for me. We鈥檒l see you all tomorrow!

Hi! I messed up a lot in eleventh and am really not in a good mental place rn, I'm really good with tech though and was intially preparing to head abroad but can't do so anymore cause my average in my junior yr was like rlly low. So stuck w trying to prep for JEE and have already dropped my coaching - was in sankalp @fiitjee, and just couldn't handle the obnoxiously poor teaching there anymore. I'm with like private JEE coaching directly from Delhi/Kota rn that happens online but frankly I have sm sm backlog I just don't know if I'll be able to crack it. Also, in regular schooling obvi, which is a completely different pain in the a**.
Any tips/tricks/ideas on how to get into a good uni here (DTU, IIITs, BITS, etectera like anything with decent ranking so that I could still try for outside for my masters again with?)
Tysm, have been following your blog for a while and love your daily posts, they really do motivate me to head to the study table : ))
Hey anon,
First of all, I'd like you to take a deep breath and let go of your worries and stress, just for a moment. Tell them to come back in a couple minutes ;)
You have something that I don't have now, and it's something that I wish for- you have time. Realising in 12th that you have to work hard is not too late. You still can work hard and drastically improve your performance in the real JEE Mains exam.
I don't want to give you a big lecture on being motivated and fighting for yourself by studying, though that is something that you should do- fight for yourself.
Even if your 11th went absolutely horribly, you can still turn things around. I have seen people, classmates, who completely changed their scores and performance, by practising rigorously and strengthening their concepts. They were people from whom I did not expect to see 97+ percentile, but they got it- and they deserved it too.
(also there's plenty of motivation videos on youtube and pinterest, sometimes they do help, so you can go to them- just be mindful of the time you'll spend watching them)
Some tips I'll give for working on your performance:
Give mock exams. Yes, even if they're going absolutely shittily.
Analyse your mocks question by question- if it was correct, incorrect, or unattempted. Incorrect or unattempted because you made a silly mistake, had forgotten the concept, or did not know the concept at all.
Work hard but also take breaks- getting burnt out only hurts you, your health (both mental and physical) and your efficiency
You have to have confidence, and believe in yourself- I am putting in the effort, I am working hard- this itself will help your progress (tried and tested)
NCERT is literally God for Chemistry for exams like JEE Mains. Physics and Maths require a lot of practise- you can use PYQ's for all of these, and can access plenty of practise sheets from yout own institute and the web too.
Keep practising, keep revising concepts.
Keep up with whatever they're teaching in your institute. Trying to catch up with backlog while letting the current topics go, will not be helpful. Catch up with the backlog on the weekends, or whenever you get even 20 minutes spare time.
Make a timetable. And if that doesn't work, just be consistent in your studies- tell yourself to study for at least 4 hours other than school and coaching (it's going to be tough, you can set your own goals, this was just an example)
Note- I have to say, keeping up with school studies is important too, because it gets you material to study from for the boards. There's some friends of mine who are now ineligible for appearing for JEE Advance because they did not clear the 75% Boards cutoff, even though they got 90+ percentile in JEE Mains.
See if you have Delhi domicile, still you need 96+ percentile to have a chance at getting IIITD, DTU, NSUT, IGDTUW
BITS is an exam that requires speed and efficiency and immense knowledge. It's got 130 questions, +3, 0 and -1 marking, and has to be completed in 3 hours. It's very competitive, and you need to practise pyq's and work on your speed for that, from what I've heard.
Ah. Well. I hope this post covered the questions you had! If it didn't, feel free to send another ask or even message me, whatever you want. (Sorry for answering this anon after a day heh, I wanted to think things through before posting the answer)
And thank you so much for following me :) I'm glad that my posts help you get motivated to study (PS: They help me get motivated to study too)
Keep working, happily, anon! <3

Memories....
Genre: Fluff
Word count: A few hundred?
Pairing: Ethan Ramsey X Catherine Valentine
Premise: Ethan gets to see Catherine's photo album.
_>_>_>_>_>_>_>_>_>_>_>_>_>_>
"Ethan! Gimme a hand!" Catherine yelled across the room.
Ethan sauntered in, smirking at Catherine's awkward posture. She was practically dangling from the shelf.
Huffing at his expression, she somehow managed to climb back down.
"Could you please take that book out?" She asked.
Nodding, Ethan pulled the book out. Suddenly, he spotted a velvet album next to the book. Raising his brows, he gently pulled it out of the shelf.
"What's this?"
"Oh. My childhood photo album. I haven't seen it in such a long time."
"Let's see it together?"
"Be for real, Ramsey."
"I'm serious! I know nothing of your childhood, save your school life. Add a bonus- I've never seen any childhood photos of yours."
Pulling a face, she took the album from him, moving towards the sofa. Ethan joined her, staring at the velvet adorned book.
Catherine opened it.
Christ. She was adorable!!!!!
As they skimmed through the photos, Ethan pointed out particulars.
Tumblr media
"Damn. That's freaking cute. You look nothing short of a soft fur-ball."
"Funny."
"I know."
Tumblr media
"This is hilarious. I should go through your albums more often. When was this taken?"
"Firstly, this is awkward. Secondly, NO. You aren't going through my albums anytime soon. Thirdly, I don't even know when this was taken, for the love of God."
Ethan burst out laughing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"School shoots?"
"Nah. My parents took it some time. I wasn't even aware 'til I saw these."
Tumblr media
"This is a whachucallit? Ah. A silfi."
"Oh my God, Ethan" Catherine was practically crying from laughing.
"That's called a selfie, E."
"Whatever. Moving on. When was this taken?"
A dull flush coloured her cheeks as she suddenly looked rather hollow.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean-"
"I know. I'll tell you. This was taken right before we were going to the amusement park. That was about fifteen minutes before I was in the car crash..."
Catherine's face fell. Ethan, with dawning horror, remembered Catherine's mum being pregnant at that time; they had a miscarriage.
"I'm so sorry for bringing this up again-"
"It's fine."
Ethan nodded, respecting her space as he gently laced his fingers with hers. She gave his hand a tight squeeze.
"Okay, what about this picture?"
Tumblr media
"Taken at a school function. Can't really remember the year."
"Mhm."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Wow. You look older. And the outfit is also different. New school?"
"Nah. This was in high school, 11th grade. Our academy had different uniforms for juniors, middle schoolers and high schoolers."
"Oh. You look beautiful."
"Meaning to say I don't look beautiful at other times, Ramsey?"
"No, I meant- I mean-" Ethan stopped short, grumbling when he noted Catherine's mischievous twinkle before her lilting laugh burst through.
"Really."
"You make it too easy, Ethan."
Tumblr media
"Where was this taken?"
"My parents have taken so many shots of me, and I was unaware of it till date, Ethan!"
"Although, I do remember the outfit vaguely....maybe this was when I visited Rajasthan? Can't remember exactly..."
"Ooh. Last one. Your parents?"
Tumblr media
"Mhm. This was clicked at the airport, right before I flew to Delhi for AIIMS."
Ethan nodded. "Have any more albums?"
"Yeah. Loads more. Not today, though. I will show you some other time."
Ethan grinned.
"Can't wait."
_>_>_>_>_>_>_>_>_>_>_>_>_>_>
Yep. That was only Album 1.
Thanks for reading!
PS: Whachucallit is my modified version of "What d'you call it" in case you're confused.

Sound of BTS: K-Pop super band decode their success
Tumblr media
New Delhi, June 2 (IANS)聽Few names in the world of music today evoke global hysteria as the K-Pop super band BTS. With a following of 30.1 million on Twitter and 42.6 million on Instagram, the group, who made their debut in 2013, have smashed their own record with their latest track "Butter", which garnered 10 million views on YouTube in just 13 minutes upon release.
BTS, or Bangtan Sonyeondan, are a septet comprising Jin, SUGA, j-hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook. The band is also known as the Bangtan Boys and, like any celebrities worth the delirium they unleash, have a name for their fans, too. They call their ever-burgeoning fan base ARMY (the all-caps stylisation is perhaps meant to underline the frenzy).
Opening up with IANS in a candid tete-a-tete, the South Korean band decode their skyrocketing worldwide success.
"I'm guessing our sincerity reached our audience. We've tried our best to deliver sincere music and performances," says V, whose real name is Kim Tae-hyung. Known for his deep voice, Tae, 25, who kind of carry the symbol of 'tiger', is the fashion icon for the group -- as the ARMY says if you need something to become trend just put it on V. He literally pulls off anything.
J-Hope (Jung Hoseok) pitches in: "And we have always shown our fans all our behind-the-scenes through various contents. I think opening ourselves up without hesitation helped us convey our sincerity." In fact their opening up to the fans even before their debut and literally living every moment of their growth as singers, performers and growing up from boys to men in front of the camera has endeared them more.
Their trials and tribulations, as they went from a one-room dorm in Seoul to the mega HYBE building in 2020 is the stuff of legend. Along the way their hardships -- of sometimes making it through the week with just Bulgogi (fire meat) to distributing posters on the streets of L.A. for their first concert in the US -- that saw few takers in 2014, to today's phenomenal chartbusters -- ON (February 2020), Dynamite, Life Goes On, Film out, and Butter (within the span of just over one year) -- is a journey they have shared with the fans on Bangtan Gayo, RUN-BTS (an absolute stress buster), BTS in the SOOP, among others.
The rise of the band has been a phenomenon that has not only reorganised the contemporary mainstream music scene all over the world, but has also defined the shifting socio-politics of showbusiness. The success of BTS, after all, has widely been seen as a triumph of inclusivity. In turn, the band, which started out as a hip hop group, evolved quickly to adapt to a larger market.
And all this success, despite almost all-Korean lyrics in all their songs, until the all English single Dynamite in August 2020. Today, they sing in English to connect with their worldwide ARMY.
ARMY, the band has said time and again, is intrinsic to their growth. Wider reach and a growing fan base ensures better feedback, they point out, and BTS is one band that is known to listen to their fans.
"When we go on tour, we get to perform a lot and that helps me improve," says Kim Seok-jin (Jin). j-hope, who is Mr. Sunshine of the group and has the trademark intro "I am your Hope, You are my Hope..." adds that the feedback they get for their songs has worked because it tells the band which areas to focus on in order to grow.
"I was able to check what I lacked and what I had to pay more attention to," he explains. j-hope is the main dancer, who is a hard task master for the group when it comes to grooving. Known for his agile moves, he is that guy, who almost left the BTS at one time just before debut, but was destined to return -- as the love between the members could not keep him away.
He is one of the three rappers along with Leader RM (Rap Moster or Kim Nam-joon) and Min Yoongi or Suga. In fact, Hobi, as he is lovingly called wanted to be in the vocal line -- that has V, Jin, Park Jimin and Jeon Jung Kook. But gave it away to V, the surprise member of the group on debut, as is known from a number of their documentaries along the way -- Burn the Stage, Bring the Soul, and Break the Silence.
V credits new experiences to their growing popularity. "We encounter new things and our stage always gets bigger, so it does give me pressure. However, I tried to expand my mindset so that I don't make mistakes," he says.
For RM, like everyone else, the pandemic has had an impact. "I think the current pandemic situation played a big part because we needed to change, whether we wanted to or not. Thus, during Covid, we were able to release 'Dynamite', 'BE', and 'Butter'," he points out.
Jimin, who was the last member to be finalised in the group and trained only for six months before debut on June 13, 2013, says the challenge is about seeking out the right direction when it comes to improving one's performance. "I couldn't really find an answer to what I should do to improve, but if I can find a better direction, I will be able to take a step forward," Jimin says.
The need to grow guides them all. Jung Kook, the main vocalist, and the Golden Maknae, for instance, says he is driven by the constant need to "grow and evolve".
"I think the biggest factor is that I always feel like I'm lacking and I have the continual ambition to get cooler," says Jung Kook. The youngest member, who will turn 24 this year, has given us five makeovers in six months -- blonde, blue, mint-choco, silver, and purple -- and each time fans have loved it. Currently with his purple hair, Jung Kook did the impossible -- losing weight in five days as he said while shooting for Butter.
The conversation shifts to their interestingly-named title tracks. The band says their process of selecting the title track of a BTS album is simple. "We usually select the song that best shows the overall message and theme of the album," RM says.
Which brings one to their latest track "Butter", which premiered on May 20. The song currently has 277,508,962 views on YouTube and 16 million likes. It is also No 1 ofn the Billboard Hot 100, as well as many other charts.
Jin, the self proclaimed 'World Wide Handsome', feels the song is a rage because it works perfectly as "BTS' summer song!" Jung Kook recalls the fun that the band had while shooting it, and attributes that energy to its success.
"The song itself is exciting and fun, so we were full of energy when we recorded it," Jung Kook notes.
"I think 'Butter' is special because it encapsulates our charms," Jin sums it up for the song, the band and the band's ever-growing aura.
With just days left for their 8th anniversary, BTS has their hands full.

Yes, Officer
Part-1
S/n: I'm sorry for this week old fic but here's the first part. I didn't know if this was good enough to post but I didn't want to go ia, so. Hope you like it <3
Angel stared out the window, the falling autumn leaves setting hopelessness in her heart. Nothing would help these days, the growing anxiety taking over everything in her mind. She was too young to be this stressed, only in her 20's, yet the weight crushing her shoulders was leaving her crying at odd hours.
"My daughter must be the next to reign the empire of Delhi", her father's words never left her mind, engraved like hot iron on a child's skin. Delhi, the bustling city felt more developed in the last decade than ever. Angel wondered if Delhi was teasing her too, telling her she wasn't apt enough to rule a city. With the oncoming opportunities, came oncoming threats- both to Delhi and her throne.
No matter what she said, this decision was strictly taken by her parent's old advisor- who often acted like your guardian. Dada didn't pester, the stubborn man in his 60's, ready to stab everyone in sight ever since the incident. There were oppositions who believed you were not the correct choice for the throne- but your father knew better. To burden young shoulders for the people than to wait for a messiah, if he comes. She laid back on the chair, sighing. They must be here anytime.
When Angel's dinner was poisoned two days back, her first thought was what her parents must think when she finally died. Would they be proud, or still love her as their daughter, or they wouldn't care, that she was a disappointment? Eventually a servant was passing by, at such ungodly hour, that saved Angel. She was rewarded with a prize money worth 500 Rs. Ever since, Dada made a decision that a trained police officer, from the Indian Imperial Army must serve as your personal bodyguard for the next three months, until the next ruler of Delhi is decided. Angel made protests, proposed questions, and shared information against the decision but everything was futile. She finally slumped down, agreeing.
A whole human, trained, with potential- just to protect you? It seemed insensible. That man could probably save crowds of innocent people, or punish troops of criminal but he would just stand here, making sure if she had enough water or not. Angel held her head in her hands. She was happy in the back of her mind.
Ever since the parental figures disappeared, Angel only faced manipulation and mistrust in her life. It felt like a sin to make friends, to drink freely or enter crowds. And now that the election days are coming closer, she felt trapped in herself. Every single movement was noticed, and most likely followed. A bodyguard didn't sound half bad.
Angel could hear the frequent words of Dada down the hall, followed by another pair of steps. She stood up, quickly, smoothing out her dress. A firm knock on her door echoed. "Angel?" Dada called out, impatiently waiting. She opened the door of the room, moving away to let the guest enter. A man in his brown uniform entered, almost three inches taller than her when she was in heels. He smelt good. Angel stood behind them as Dada explained everything to him. From the back of his head, he looked strong and firm. Angel cocked an eyebrow. After all, why would a trained police officer agree to a job like this?
"Angel?" Dada called out again, his hand reaching where she stood. Angel pranced forward, to face them. If this was her bodyguard, she was in a trouble. His chest buffed out, his eyesight peeking over her. Handlebar moustache and long eyelashes. His upper lip was hidden by the hair, his beard clean shaved. Angel gulped, leaning on the table. She did not expect him to have such an effect on her. Angel, busy staring at the man, missed most of the details Dada dictated to him. She leant closer to him. "A. Ramaraju" she muttered to herself, before going back in her position so they wouldn't notice. Well, nothing misses from his eyes. Her eyes, finally turned to the elder guardian.
"This gentleman is your bodyguard. He's a strict police officer and he will be checking everything, from what you eat and drink, where you go, everything. Once the elections are over, you will have a team of bodyguards anyways. But he should be enough for now". Soon, Dada left, and the police officer made himself comfortable in front of her table.
"I don't expect you to be so formal with me" Angel looked at him up and down. "I am solely here for my job, ma'am" Ramaraju's voice had a dusky yet chocolaty tone. It was heavy, but not harsh. "Please introduce yourself" Angel sat her hip on the edge of the table. "Alluri Ramaraju, police officer in India-" "I know that" Angel interrupted the man. His gaze still hasn't lowered down to her, but he could see the diary in her hands. "You have, single handedly, caught a wanted person in a riot with almost the population of a town. And you injured many others. And this is the only most recent news of you, I can skip through various others" Angel peered up at him. "Are you going to tell me why you are really here?" "It has nothing to do with this job" Ramaraju's posture didn't budge. The stoic man, still as a statue.
Angel sighed, getting up. "I don't need a bodyguard" she stepped forward, taking a closer look at him. He smelt really, good. "You must talk to the-" "I don't need to talk to anyone" Angel said, trying to match his eye level. He wouldn't. "You're going to submit a report tomorrow that says how you don't want this duty and want to be back in the field. Is that clear?" Ram didn't answer, neither move. He stared straight ahead, unbothered. Angel took that as an acceptance, might as well be a surprise. "You may leave now" Angel went back to her work, sitting on the table, as Ram turned around and marched out of the room. That was the last of him she saw that day.

[venting into the void]
screammm. It's been two weeks and I still don't really feel like I've properly accepted this master's program I'm doing. Sure, I'm attending classes and stuff but I keep catching myself feeling it's all a bit unreal, and not in a good way. In a 'hmm this was a fun experiment, I'm ready to go home now' kinda way. Sort of? I really don't know how to describe it. But I just. Don't know if this is it. And that is Not Fun because getting here was a pain. Choosing to walk away from engineering, or my dad made sure to impress upon me, "wasting my seat at one of the country's best universities that could've gone to someone who would've at least done justice to the seat and been more deserving of the heavily subsidised education you received" was not a decision I made easily. I really wish I made it knowing WHAT I wanted to do instead, and not this nebulous idea of "something in the arts". I know it was a decision I made at the time since it felt the only way I could stay sane, but aaaaaaaah I really wish I had had something more concrete to base it on.
I can just walk away from this degree, but I really wish I wasn't even contemplating it. I won't drop out, because I'm a coward, but sweet fuck how I wish I didn't even want to. I don't even know what I'd go towards anyway, so might as well do this I suppose. Aaaaaah how I hope I feel more excited about this course soon.
I hate it here. Hate /everything/ about this stupid place. Delhi can go die. I mean the sheer number of museums and historic buildings is very nice, I'll give it that, but that's about the only thing that's even passably nice about this stupid place. fuck, within a week it managed to make me feel comforted by hearing sodding Tamil just because it was a language other than fucking Hindi for once (nothing against Tamil, the cussing is because it really makes no sodding sense to be comforted by a language even more alien to me than Hindi. I know Hindi but don't know a lick of Tamil and yet I was ready to CRY when I heard full sounds and not the aborted consonants (in Hindi you'd say Shiv as opposed to Shiva, etc.))
I don't get it though. I never felt homesick during my undergrad, despite that being a much longer stint outside of home and when I was much younger. Heck, I never even imagined I'd miss Telugu in the first place, given how fucked up my relationship with my own language/culture is. And YET. Took less than a week over here to get me, someone who's already used to living away from home in a land with very different languages and culture, to want to cry because I just wanted to freely be able to say the Telugu equivalent of "my foot" when something annoying happened. It's messing with my brain because I still don't feel comfortable with Telugu and yet I crave it and I don't know what to make of that. I suppose it's nice that since literally nobody around me knows shit about South India (no really, they know NOTHING, can't even tell whole-ass states apart) I can be more telugu-y than I usually feel comfortable being because there's no one around to make me realise how bad at being telugu I am? Like I can gush about pickles without fear because no one will know what basic knowledge about them I lack. I can actually explore how I like presenting myself when there's no one around to test how Well I am doing at being Telugu. And I guess that's sorta nice? I find myself writing in Telugu far more now when I'm writing random stuff to stay awake in class, because no one can judge my shitty handwriting or realise that I don't know how to write some pretty basic stuff in Telugu. Turns out I like some things about being Telugu after all and I feel both joyful and abject despair at this discovery. But whatever, that's something I can work out in time, as I learn to be more forgiving of my past self.
But for now I don't know if I want to continue this course. And it's the first time I /chose/ something entirely on my own and had to really pigheadedly push to get here. So it's terrifying to regret my choice now. Where would I go? And who do I have to blame except my own useless indecisive self. But I don't know how I feel about this place. Hate the city, am not reassured by the university, and the course content isn't exactly blowing my mind or even making me sigh in relief at how different it is from engg. On the contrary, I'm wondering if I should've just stuck to my plan of doing concrete tech - at least that I actively enjoyed to a significant extent.
I may have made a pretty big fucking mistake, aaaaaah. I desperately hope I feel differently soon.
also delhi sucks so much.

He wanted to know if I had an accent so I said I'm from Wisconsin I went to Catholic school so that's why I do sound a little bit British.....
He asked me if I attended mass...I told him I was more white oh by the way this is our adopted cause Kathryn she stops by on occasion I'm not Irish or Italian so it's not good for disease to act like a nun avoid state obligation
He advised I take the bus there is a lot of homeless and the police get rougher I told him in the end he will appreciate that this happened to him when a lot of homeless would still be around....
The police are unconscionably all our fantasy basement simm theory limitations so you do kind of need homeless populations this mean addicted and scary or they would team up and stalk you alone
The police view conditioning as acts of very disturbing violence to create narcisstic consumer cultures so when people tell you their a beater as a parental state it only understands it's conduct is abhorrent when a force conflicts and beats it in return
Not all police are criminals anyway and they get bouts of COVID in those facilities so sometimes just letting smoking cessation happen organically and with the flower blooms is enough to deter them coming out and getting an incompetence incident
He told me he hides.....so I told him I more identify with the character in the bluest eye who explains to her the hospitality involved in marrying psychopaths....I wasn't actually aware of how scary some men I have known were.....but I trust God....and sometimes it's better then being alone with someone who will chain ya up
That's me about forgiving society a bit to me I was faith so I go around with saints and sinners and in between and sometimes I did look like a bad lady I am not a criminal but sometimes by appearance I did look like a bad lady
Uhm I told him about the compass meal program that the Methodist pastors will call the cops on you which they really shouldn't get into it's not forgiven on ones reputation and they aren't young women to be pardoned because of simm theory
That's embarrassing for them to not have met some of these Mexican or israeli artists and know that they do know already the science going on there
New Delhi I guess....I prefer leaving the Indians to their borders though and like that swedish young woman we can high five across that border about climate alliance
Im sorry but addiction is often about poverty and they should call a psychiatric triage team about poverty not the cops....
Georg simmel the young woman errors about her selection of Russian authors considering the discipline around her to complete
W.a.r....woman art revolution if it's the methodists their feminine icon is always a missing Asian that could not learn English well and had to grow up as a migrant and they are not a young Asian migrant that could not learn English well....

Former US secretary of state Mike Pompeo wrote in a book published on Tuesday that India and Pakistan came close to nuclear war in 2019 and that US intervention prevented escalation. "I do not think the world properly knows just how close the India-Pakistan rivalry came to spilling over into a nuclear conflagration in February 2019," the likely future presidential contender wrote in "Never Give an Inch," his memoir of his time as Donald Trump's top diplomat and earlier CIA chief. India in February 2019 broke precedent by launching airstrikes inside Pakistani territory after blaming a group there for a suicide bombing that killed 41 Indian paramilitary soldiers in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir region. Pakistan shot down an Indian warplane, capturing the pilot. Pompeo, who was in Hanoi for a summit between Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, said he was woken up with an urgent call from a senior Indian official. "He believed the Pakistanis had begun to prepare their nuclear weapons for a strike. India, he informed me, was contemplating its own escalation," Pompeo wrote. "I asked him to do nothing and give us a minute to sort things out," Pompeo said. Pompeo said that US diplomats convinced both India and Pakistan that neither was preparing to go nuclear. "No other nation could have done what we did that night to avoid a horrible outcome," Pompeo wrote. Pompeo, who wrote that Pakistan "probably enabled" the Kashmir attack, said he spoke to "the actual leader of Pakistan," then army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, in an allusion to the weakness of civilian governments. Pompeo at the time publicly defended India's right to act. In his book, Pompeo spoke highly of India and, unlike officials in New Delhi, made no secret of his desire to ally with the South Asian democracy "to counteract Chinese aggression." India, followed by Pakistan, tested nuclear bombs in 1998, a watershed moment. Then president Bill Clinton famously would say that Kashmir, divided between the two nations, was "the most dangerous place in the world." Pompeo writes extensively in the book of his diplomacy with Kim Jong Un, which included preparing three meetings between the young totalitarian leader and Trump. He recalled a chilling first conversation as he flew into Pyongyang in March 2018 on a clandestine trip as CIA director. "'I didn't think you'd show up. I know you've been trying to kill me,'" Pompeo quotes Kim as telling him. "I decided to lean in with a little humor of my own: 'Mr. Chairman, I'm still trying kill you.'" But Pompeo described a budding understanding with Kim as the Trump administration offered incentives to lower tension. Pointing to Kim's smoking habit, Pompeo wrote that he told Kim he would take him to "the nicest beach in Miami and smoke the best Cubanos in the world. He told me, 'I already have a great relationship with the Castros.' Of course, he did." As for their substantive conversation, Pompeo said Kim spoke candidly on concerns about China, usually viewed as North Korea's main ally. Told that China believes North Korea wants US forces out of South Korea, "Kim laughed and pounded on the table in sheer joy, exclaiming that the Chinese were liars." Kim "said that he needed the Americans in South Korea to protect him from the CCP, and that the CCP needs the Americans out so they can treat the peninsula like Tibet and Xinjiang," Pompeo wrote, referring to the Chinese Communist Party. Pompeo became known for his hawkish stance on China, controversially accusing Beijing of spreading the "Wuhan virus." He said that Trump told him with an epithet that Chinese President Xi Jinping "hates you" and asked Pompeo to "shut the hell up for a while" as the United States needed health care equipment from China. Pompeo has not ruled out running against Trump for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, although early polls show little support for Pompeo.聽
