Lady Dimitrescu Knife Glove- DIY

This is how I went about making Lady Dimitrescu’s knife glove from Resident Evil Village. Feel free to apply your own technique as well.

Materials- Black gloves, there from Amazon. I’ll only use one glove for this craft. I used four metal dowls for this. I used four copper plumbing joints too.

I cut out four EVA foam pieces to make the knife shape. Spray painted the foam silver. I did go over it with silver acrylic paint. I hot glued the metal down in the center and folded over the foam over and hot glued the foam together. Using a heat gun makes foam easier to work with.

I added some foam clay in each copper plumbing joint and attached the metal rod in the foam clay. I added hot glue later, so it’ll be sturdier. 

I placed the joints in the glove, and I cut holes in the glove so I can attach everything. The foam clay is exposed.

I added more foam clay and hot glue around the edges of the top of the fingers of the glove. Just to make sure everything is attached.

Let the foam clay and hot glue dry. Later on, I painted the exposed white foam clay and hot glue silver. I may glue pieces of black fabric on top of the foam clay I just added some hot glue to the foam “knife” and where I felt necessary. 

Again, feel free to apply some other techniques yourself.

2023 is at an end, so time for a recap! (Borrowing this idea from @lutaviacosplay )

This year was all over the place! It’s been an absolute roller coaster of a year, but I’ll try and put things into words. Please bear with me XD

COSTUMES - This year started with going super hard core. I brought a record number of costumes to my first con of the year Katsucon . We had Mothra, Cruella, and Appa all in the first half of the year, and then Katsu-crunch came early with Toothless, Armored Leafeon, Nowhere King, and Kimono Articuno. The year wrapped up with Wailord, but also a step back to reset and work on my precision sewing with some finely made tailored clothing.

CONVENTIONS - Katsucon started the year with a bang! I was honored to be brought on by @famorecutlery to offer workshops and panels in sewing and dye/paintwork (and I hope people enjoyed them!). Then it was time to gear up for a rapid-fire of amazing guesting/judging opportunities at @animeboston , @awesomecons , and @teamtekko .

EDUCATION + OPPORTUNITIES - I was also able to bring panels and teaching to more cons this year! Professionally, I moved up as well to start working as a college professor teaching digital fabrication classes full time. I continue to work on developing and bringing more and more learning opportunities to anyone who’s willing to learn :) I’ve also started to do more private tutoring online for cosplay and making fields, which have proven super rewarding!

THANK YOU! - I am deeply, deeply thankful to all my friends, both cosplay, guildies, discord, and IRL who’ve helped me over the past year. It’s been a challenging year and I honestly don’t know what I would have done without you. And a big shout out to my followers, y’all are amazing and every time I stop and wonder ‘do people really care about the stuff I do’ you all brighten my life with your support.

2024 Looking ahead. A lot of my plans for 2024 are up in the air at the moment. I’ll be at Katsucon, and helping behind the scenes at AnimeBoston, but otherwise, we’ll see where life takes us <3

Finally, the breastplate for Venusaur is done! This project has me thinking about so many other original gijinka designs I'd like to tackle, but for now I'm just happy to approach the finish line with this one.⁣ ⁣ Finishing a cosplay is really, REALLY hard for me without a looming deadline, and I'm sure others can relate. [WIP] Knut - Vinland Saga . . I never crafted a foam helmet before, with details and all, so this costume was a challenge for me. I was pretty insecure but I did my best and enjoyed this experience, which is what it matters after all! And I'm really happy to be able to make a Vinland Saga cosplay, which is in my opinion the anime of the year 🤧💚 Hope you"ll like it! (This is not the right wig btw 😂) . . Alors j'ai jamais fait de casque en eva de ma viiiie, avec des détails etc, donc c'était un peu nouveau pour moi de travailler ça.
