FBI zukka and the Coldest Flames?

so that's about Zuko as an FBI agent and he hires Sokka and it just really really cute anyways onto my FBI zukka story

it's a little different in that Zuko is part of the BAU (serial killer unit) and basically he cracks down on a big case on two serial killer brothers, captures one, and the other is presumed dead.

They. Are. Not. Dead.

zuko and sokka are quite open about their relationship on social media and so this guy is able to quickly find out where sokka is and he’s a bit of a sadist and wants to get revenge on zuko

so he kidnaps sokka and leaves clues for zuko, with the intention that the final clue lead zuko to sokka’s mutilated dead body.

zuko, however, is quite stubborn. and his boyfriend will not die.

the coldest flames is a firebender!sokka au where kya was attacked in a raid and nine months later sokka appeared, however he looks identical to kya soooo the swt fam is hoping for the best

when sokka is three he firebends for the first time: hakoda was in the meeting hall discussing winter supplies and stuff when a blizzard hit and they had to stay there; kanna was caring for katara because have you tried to entertain two kids during a blizzard that shows no sign of ending soon, yeah didn’t think so

so it’s just kya and sokka in the igloo and the fire goes out, sokka wakes up, relights it, and then goes back to sleep. in the morning, their igloo door is blocked by snow and so while the men are trying to dig them out, kya explains to sokka that he can’t firebend around the village (tries to sell it as: it’s our little secret kind of thing)

sokka doesn’t tell anyone, kya dies, the men go off, and aang appears. at some stage (idk when) the gaang will learn of sokka’s bending and the news will travel that there is a swt firebender, all the way to the fire nation court

remember that asshole who attacked kya? yeah he’s now a general because his older siblings died in the siege of Ba Sing Se and he became heir, and then lord of the estate, and he hears of the kid and doesn’t really think much of it tbh

but then on the airships when sokka breaks his leg and is dangling toph over the side he pauses, and walks forwards and then:

“You look just like your mother.”

cue the kidnapping :))))))

Zukka Mulan AU

TW transphobia, abuse and sexism

Zuko is a trans boy whose father is a deserter (his bitchfather Ozai who burnt him when he was younger for defending his mother getting abused). His mom, Ursa is frantically trying to get him married off to some guy so that he doesn't get scorned

One day, soldiers come to either take his grandfather Roku as a soldier or copious amounts of money.

Zuko sneaks out of the house in his father's old uniform and when Ursa and Roku learn of this they pray to the house gods who send the spirit of Zuko's dead uncle Iroh who disgraced himself before his son's death by having the same tendencies as Ozai) to awaken the Great Dragon but Iroh fucks up so he follows Zuko alone

Zuko arrives at camp, bonds with the Freedom fighters who are also among the soldiers and gradually proves himself to Sokka, the captain

Sokka slowly has these moments where he stares at Zuko and is like shit he's cute AND smart wtf

Okay and then Iroh is super proud of Zuko and is like my nephew deserves to prove himself and he sends a fake message from Hakoda, telling the batallion to follow them which they do

Sokka and Zuko and the freedom fighters head after them and they find hakodas camp burnt out and massacred, General Hakoda and his boyfriend second in command captured

They get ambushed by the huns and their leader Zhao

And Zuko in the last moment has an idea that's detrimental to his own safety cause it's fucken Zuko and he causes an avalanche that buries most of the huns

Zhao attacks Zuko and wounds his chest

When they heal him, they discover that he's been binding and Sokka has to expel him because of the restrictive laws in place and it fucking hurts him

Zuko won't let that be so he follows the batallion and discovers that Zhao survived, catches up to Sokka and tries to convince him but Sokka is still unsure

Zhao manages to kidnap Emperor Kuei and Zuko and Sokka rescue him together while Iroh finally kills Zhao with a canon

Kuei initially scolds Zuko for deception but then Zuko points out that he really isn't a girl, he's trans and because Kuei saw his bravery, he offers Zuko an advisor role

Zuko accepts but only after being able to return to his family

He takes his family to the capital and starts working with Kuei, dismantling the sexist and queerphobic laws in place so that for example his sister Azula (who went to therapy in the capital) can do whatever she wants

Sokka and Zuko get together and Zuko is introduced to the Gaang, Katara is a feminist master healer, Aang is a diplomat and her husband, Toph and Suki and the Kyoshi Warriors were women's rights activists and they adopt Zuko immediately because he helped them immensely

It all ends up very nicely and really wholesome and Iroh is finally able to rest, having regained his honour alongside Zuko and their goodbye is fucking heartbreaking

But Iroh will always be with Zuko in spirit and he knows he can let his nephew live in peace and security now, surrounded by people who love and support him.

Hi these are all Zukka because I know who I am.

1. Blue by @hollypunkers

It’s really hard for me to get into long multi chapter fics (this is currently 20+ chapters) but the entire blog squad screamed at me to read this and I always give in to peer pressure. I was not disappointed. This one reads so effing well I cannot express my love for this fic enough. Working through internalized homophobia? Check. Copious amounts of Iroh being Understanding but still low key calling Zuko an idiot? Check. Sokka getting the respect he deserves? Check. Occasionally makes me cry? Check.

2. Carry On For You by @sword-and-stars

Pokemon au. I know. I know. I know.

Stop questioning it. Just read it. You don’t need to know anything about Pokémon. You just have to have enough room in your heart for precious animals and also Zuko and some reluctant parent Piandao goodness. @nothing-more-than-hot-leaf-juice begged me to read this nearly every day and I don’t know why I ever doubted her.

4. Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dumbasses by @engagedzukka

You’re going to read the description and go “why would I read a chef!sokka fic?” JUST DO IT. It has chef goodness but also just so much Sokka! This is one of my favorite Sokka centric fics and I am just dying every time there’s an update. The writing flows so smoothly and it makes it such a brilliant fic to read. The complexities of the characters are top notch. I absolutely love Our Bebe Aang in this one too (my heart melts for him).

5. Kiss Me Just To Shut Me Up by @dickpuncher420

Y’all whenever I don’t know what to read next, I just head on down to @dickpuncher420’s ao3 bookmarks and make myself at home. But! They also! write phenomenal fics! Tattoo artist Zuko! Skateboard Sokka! The banter between Sokka and Katara in this fic has watered my crops and Toph’s whole vibe is so perfectly captured here I cannot say enough good things about this fic. Modern au! With bending! And zukka! What else could I want???
