For those who have successfully done so: How do you set boundaries around holidays with your families?
Mine normally spends the entire day together on Christmas, as well as part of Christmas Eve. I really don't want to do this because they take essentially no COVID precautions and I'm trying to protect myself and my pets (my cat has respiratory issues and I'm chronically ill), and being together that much is REALLY difficult as an autistic person. I also honestly don't really want to eat with them because part of being chronically ill makes me really sensitive to different food, and my stomach has been messed up since Thanksgiving.
I feel like they will inevitably take this personally, so I'm trying to figure out the best way to communicate that I would be comfortable spending part of the day with them either inside in a mask or outside and distanced, and that I don't necessarily want to eat dinner with them/don't want to spend the entire day with them. Any suggestions?

okay let's cut to the chase i need to figure out the best way to do this so i am curious about yall's thoughts as readers
i have what will likely be a ~90k au which will have ~5 distinct plotlines that regularly interact or overlap, something like 10 relationships that i would consider as requiring tagging, 7 different pov characters, and a variety of tags that may conflict depending on the relationship/character/plot they refer to
my concern is that a single fic would come across as overtagged/turn people off to clicking into it, or deter folks who might be interested in one plotline/relationship but not in others. i personally balk a little at fics with a ton of relationship tags, etc, and i'm also concerned that folks who come expecting a tag to apply to one dynamic will be surprised or irritated when it actually applies to another, etc
my tentative solutions are...perhaps a bit unwieldy, but i would love some input from the reader side!!
one alternate would be to utilize series as a way of better tagging each section of the fic, either as a single series of 30ish fics in chronological order or as multiple series of 30ish fics that align to the various plots (with a collection to aggregate them all) with appropriate overlap where it makes sense. my concern is a reader coming in and seeing "part 16 in series" and going 'oh well shit i don't wanna read 16 other fics before this one just to get what's going on here', which could potentially happen with either series solution
my other alternate would be a collection for the au with a "choose your own adventure" type of link at the bottom - follow chronologically to the next fic in the au or follow to the next fic in the particular plotline that this fic is a part of. this would probably also necessitate an author's note at the start of each fic with the 'previous' fic(s) linked. the struggle with this ofc is potential confusion in seeing it as a standalone fic when it's ultimately more part of a collective whole story (either in its plotline or with regards to the au as a whole), but would resolve the tagging issue and the potential deterrent of a 'there are how many fics in this series? no way i'm bothering with that' vibe
so my question, dear readers, is this:
i'm leaving this open for a week, and please feel free to rb to your heart's content! would love to know what people outside my circle think as well, or if anyone has any clever solutions or ideas even if they're not a regular reader of mine. thank u all dearly!!!

After seeing the recent II episode, I've seen ND fans discussing how Cabby is treated in the episode. I also saw Justin comment his thoughts on the discussion as well.
Part of me want to share some insight into how I rewrote a scene in my script for Rise of Relics to remove an ableist implication of Nicodemus' behavior towards Nikey (see this post here about it). There's also another scene I plan to rewrite as well that has a few ableist implications and I want to show how to improve it with research and listening to those with physical disabilities.
I'm not sure if it's alright for me to share this, as some of the II fans have similar symptoms to Cabby's memory issues, I do not want to speak over them as I do not have any memory symptoms as they do. What I do have, in reference to the scene in Rise of Relics, is anxiety and (possible) undiagnosed OCD, and Nikey is written with the implication of having both of these. The other scene I want to later rewrite is also in reference to how Nikey finds comfort in others, sometimes invasively due to having poor coping skills, and Nicodemus is often the person who helps ground her.
I think it's best for me to listen to those who are most affected by the episode before I say anything. But, one thing I say is that condemning a character's aids and accommodations they use to cope with their symptoms is wrong. Showing unhealthy coping mechanisms is okay (carefully saying this while keeping in mind my own experience coping with anxiety), but I do think this episode should have been written with more care.
To Justin and the Inanimate Insanity team, please consult sensitivity readers for your scripts in the future, please.

sol’rys does not rlly care abt fighting beside an embrace dark urge, whatever, anything to get the tadpole out even if you’re definitely sus, but he will complain abt siding with minthara and / or kar’niss. but he’ll follow anyway for the sake of his own survival and hope it doesn’t provoke lolth’s wrath by letting it slide.

My new rat friend has lived here for a little more than three months now, and he is still learning new things!
Today was the first day he practiced to be lifted with hands. This is very normal for my other rat friends but it was not possible to even give him a treat or touch him without tongs or gloves when he arrived, so to be lifted a little off the ground without getting worried and trying to bite or wriggle away is a big achievement!
After all that work he became very flat for a nap in his favourite hammock

Felicia using her absolutely broken spider-sense to cheat in competitive video games. Telling people that games were too 'hard' for her back in the day, so she doesn't really wanna try with games of 'today'.
Now because games are more 'complex' they're even easier for her to read, and she's even better than ever. People have stopped inviting her out to Barcade.

Had a meeting this morning about the new unassigned desks and floors and basically got told "We need to be open to change" which roughly translated to "Tough titties, it's happening whether you want it or not."
"Oh, it'll take a week or so to get used to but it will be fine!" I never got used to coming back to office and I've accepted it but still fucking hate having to be here. And now you're taking away my personal space, the one place I could decorate to keep myself from going insane??
Literally the new desks are tiny, don't have a fucking trash can, and I'm gonna have to lock my shit up in a locker overnight EVERY DAY I'm in office. I asked about personal items like calendars and office supplies and got told that yes it seems inefficient, but "BE OPEN TO CHANGE!!!"
Can't hang up a calendar. Can't have photos of my family or pets. Have to squirrel away all my personal belongings in a fucking locker like I'm in fucking high school. Can't decorate for holidays or seasons anymore. LITERALLY THE ONLY THING I ENJOYED ABOUT WORKING IN THE GODDAMN OFFICE
I don't need the stress rn while dealing with all this medical stuff. And I DEFINITELY need the health insurance, so leaving isn't a possibility for a while.

mind empty this morning, just thinking about annoying the hell out of roommate!atsumu by putting a kageyama tobio standee right in the genkan of your shared apartment.
the carboard version of tobio stands there in the JNT jersey, smiling creepily at the front door. it's the first thing atsumu sees when he enters his home after a gruelling day of practice and it's guaranteed to make his day 100% worst.
