I finally finished reading the fourth volume of svsss in full, and thing is--the first time through I only read the bingqiu content because I was ravenous for more of their happy ending.

Turns out that was a perilous mistake.

Because I started reading the airplane extras. And I swear to god. MXTX is trying to kill me

What do you MEAN demon lord Binghe was sitting on his big fucking throne. All stoic and forbidding. Surrounded by his demon generals who don't know shit about human courtship. Asking them what he should do, fully demoralized by constant rejections from sqq, only to have airplane tell him to act more pathetic and needy. Which is already hysterically funny and insane, UNTIL LBH'S RESPONSE IS THIS, KILLING ME INSTANTLY:

Watching airplane salivate over Mobei-Jun and acting like that's totally normal behavior. Finding out mbj and airplane got together first. Finding out sqq encouraged airplane. LIKE THIS. WHILE HE IS STILL IN DENIAL ABOUT HIS OWN FEELINGS:

Mobei-jun clearly thinking their arrangement is a forever thing, heartbroken his human abandoned him with all the hapless fury of a scorned wife swept away by false promises of fidelity. Airplane writing demons to be the type to beat up their crush lovingly and still unable to connect the dots about mbj's feelings. Mbj letting him go and respecting his wishes, only relenting when there's indication airplane was poorly processing his own feelings and didn't actually want to leave. To discover that his faith in Su Xiyan hadn't been misplaced, to the contrary: his beloved hadn't scorned him at all, but rather fought to the miserable end to protect the fruition of their genuine feelings of love when she couldn't protect tlj or herself.

How MXTX has sqq deliberately draw parallels between their situation and that of ygy+sj and tlj+sx; desperately wishing it might not be too late for them. The concept of breaking cycles of abuse and harm pervasive throughout the newly devised story, how it evolves for the better only when love takes the place of power, pride, and domination. How the moment sqq chooses vulnerability instead of saving face, the genre shifts to the so-called "cringe" girly genre where most if not every character is more fulfilled, more true to themselves. How the "male-oriented" former genre was aimlessly sensationalized and sexualized, how it was a sustained performance of aspirational toxic masculinity. How men objectify other men without end. All of the unspoken gendered implications that come with that.

Anyways. Going to go put my head in a sandbox and try to process everything I just witnessed because even a second reading is not enough to find a modicum of closure.

something i've been thinking about:

Wally is set up as a sort of "main character" by the whrp. he's said in the site's description of the show to have introduced the main theme/lesson of the day's episode, and then the rest of the neighbors join him on his escapades. but then we have our first glimpses of everyone's actual dynamics and characters through the audios and you look at Wally and its like

first of all, thats an npc. second, nearly everybody else has severe main character syndrome

but its fascinating how Wally is just kind of... There. he doesnt talk much. he doesnt contribute beyond a couple of lines. its more like he joins the others on their shenanigans. he fades into the background. he's off to the side while everyone else holds conversations & leads the moment

Wally, despite being described as Thee character, is borderline background.

& whats even more interesting, within his individual secret audio files and interactions - he's almost chatty. not only that but the way he talks is more confident and faster paced. he's taking initiative. he can be kinda pushy. when talking to the qa/whrp/Us, he acts more like the character his descriptions portray. he acts more like a person instead of a puppet waiting for his next cue

I cant tell if - when around the neighbors - his tepid milk behavior is a purposeful act or if he's masking. and if he's masking, is it deliberate or involuntary? and in regards to both, why is he acting so different? It could be tied to what he's trying to accomplish. if he's trying to "restore" Welcome Home, it would make sense for him to act as he does around the neighbors - he wouldnt want to clue them in that he knows so much more than he's letting on, would he?

but then that begs another train of thought - what if he isn't acting or masking? if there is a time discrepancy between Wally's interactions with the qa/whrp/Us & the more 'official' audios, that could explain the difference in behavior. we could be getting glimpses into "future" (read: current) Wally, who's had much more time to figure himself out since we can safely assume he started out as a blank slate. we could be seeing a more experienced Wally than the one seen with his friends.

of course that line of thinking loses some merit when considering the 14 "bug" audios. or it could lend to it... if we're seeing a more experienced Wally but his friends are only seeing what he allows them to. it's still him, just... a carefully curated version.

in general it could really tie into the themes of identity and change and being other, to me. when you're so different - or you feel so different - that you can't bring yourself to be your most authentic you around your friends. when you feel like you have to hold back and be who you think they expect you to be, or what would be most palatable. most normal. will they accept you as you really are? there's always the fear and terror that the people you consider closest to you won't. or when you're so scared of change that you'll shove down & lock away parts of yourself so that you can keep things as you are. because once they know you've changed, so will they. and really, do you want to even accept that you've changed? what if that's what scares you most of all - that you're different, you've metamorphosized, you can't go back to the way things were because you yourself are no longer the person you were before. there is no reversing this no matter how much you try or pretend

Quickshadow does not like Blades.

It's usually small, annoying things: he gives her stupid, paranoid looks, he complains about her asking reasonable questions, he follows her around, and worst, he's taken to perching on Heatwave's shoulders to do all three of those things, just slightly more off the ground.

But this.

Heatwave grabs a chip and throws it at Blades' face, but the helicopter leans out of the way smoothly, the smug grin not leaving his face.

"You must be cheating," Quickshadow accuses, seething behind her cards. Blades' grin gets bigger.

"That's the worst part," Heatwave laments, slamming his head into the table, making his pitiful stack of chips shake. "He's not."

"I couldn't, even if I wanted to," Blades practically purrs, fanning himself with his cards, and Quickshadow wishes she still had her inset guns. "Chase is dealing. Nothing gets past him."

"Believe me, we've tried," Heatwave mumbles, face still smushed to the table. He ever so slightly turns his head towards her and flicks over one of Quickshadow's neatly stacked chips. "Quit while you're still ahead, Shad."

Oh, but she can't. Quickshadow has played cards against some of Cybertron's most corrupt- games of chance and skill- and she's won. But Blades. He's become totally different, melting into a personality she'd only seen snatches of between his bouts of anxiety.

"Who do you have to play against to get this good?" she asks aloud, and Blades expression drops from smug to somewhere between fondness and grief, but he doesn't answer.

She's about to ask more directly when Boulder reenters, brandishing bottles of high grade. "Heatwave, Blades, Quickshadow," they mumble as they pass them out, before dropping the rest to the floor. "Chase?" they ask, but the police bot shakes his head no.

"I cannot deal properly if I am inebriated," he says, and Heatwave parrots him mockingly under his breath, then swallows half his bottle in one swig.

"Alright!" Heatwave pushes his little stack of chips forward with one servo. "All in."

Blades' fanged smile grows wide once more.

If you use “narcissist” as an adjective, I will immediately lose a degree of respect for you. The only use case that is acceptable for this word is to factually refer to someone who has NPD. Use a different word like egotistical, self-cantered, selfish, etc. instead of throwing around the name of a literal disorder to describe someone. This is especially annoying cuz people tend to exclusively use it to describe someone who has abused them in their lives. I’m very sorry if you have been abused, but it’s still no excuse. People can be abusive jerks regardless of whether they have NPD or any other disorder.

To me, it’s no different to someone saying “I’m very ocd about this” cuz they like things to be orderly. Another situation where you can very easily reword the sentence to avoid casually using a debilitating disorder as a quirky adjective. Though arguably calling someone a narcissist is worse because it pretty much exclusively is used as a way to negatively describe someone, often an abuser.

I could go on, but hopefully you get the point. Just…don’t use mental disorders as adjectives.

Idk if this is a hot take or not but I just have to get this off my chest, but pocd (p*dophile themed obsessive compulsive disorder) is, without a doubt, the worst fucking mental illness to have. And I fully mean that. It literally convinces you that you are, or have the potential of becoming, the single worst thing that everyone regardless of culture or political class hates and wishes would kneel over and die without question. It gives you the most gut wrenching, guilt inducing intrusive thoughts, which despite having no desire to act on, makes you worry "but what if" "what if one day I-" etc. I cannot express to you how much pain an ocd theme like this causes, your brain convincing you fully that you are the bottom of the barrel scum of the earth (even though you haven't done anything and never will) it is doing so based on the most irrational non-existent evidence and so many people will just never understand or get it. Not to mention that ocd is so wildly misunderstood that a lot of people don't even know the difference between someone with pocd and an actual p*dophile, which makes everything for people with this illness 10x worse. I just hate how it's so completely not talked about, especially on this app (the designated mentally illness site). I see tons of posts for people with ausitm, adhd, bpd, because that stuffs quirky and relatable ig. Even schizophrenia and narcissism gets their share of positivity (which they fully deserve dgmw) but when we talk about scary mental illnesses on here, ocd seems to get little to no light on it at all and I am just so fucking sick of it.

OCPD is a (usually trauma induced) mental illness where a person finds comfort in rigid patterns, perfectionism and self-imposed rules, and exterting control over everything they can, to the point of severe dysfunction and/or distress in their life. It comes with a lot of anxiety, troubles with relationships and extreme difficulty with school/work. It is painful to have and causes a lot of suffering, because it is a goddamn mental illness.

If you like organization or cleaning because it's satisfying and it doesn't cause you distress or dysfunction, you are a perfectionist or a neat person. You are not any mental illness. End of story.

For the love of GOD stop redirecting OCD stigma onto OCPD, especially when OCPD is so under researched and misunderstood, even by professionals.

The past couple weeks it’s been really hitting me how much harder it’s been teaching Pride and Prejudice this year—which was so disappointing at first? Because works I’ve traditionally had a harder time with I’ve felt like i’ve broken new ground while teaching and am teaching the kids BETTER. So initially I was so frustrated that my historically easiest work to teach was feeling so difficult! But there’s been some good days that have let me see that part of what was happening was that I have simply never reached this number of kids with pride and prejudice before and so consequently I have never had so many kinds of reactions before! In the waking up from the sleep of simply never paying attention there IS going to be plenty of stupidity, contrariness, crankiness, and almost arguing? Like even with themsELVES. And that’s a good thing.

Where do I even start with this this? It’s so horrible and I dare to say insulting. Company is Plushie Dreadful.

‘Insomnia due to compulsive thoughts.’ Actually no I don’t suffer in constant agony.

‘Skin picking and self harm.’ By skin picking you mean dermatillomania, which can be a co occurring disorder with ocd but is not a symptom itself.

‘Loss of fur due to repeated cleaning and scrubbing. Mask is evidence to contamination fixation.” UGH!!!! There are like 5 main sub types of ocd and contamination is just one of them! Why must this be the poster child of our entire disorder? Yes I have issues with contamination ocd but I also have issue with other sub types as well. Stop diminishing us like this!

‘Obsessive thoughts and a wish to remove those thoughts.’ Once again, no I don’t live in constant agony, I actually go to therapy and have learned how to stop my thoughts pretty well.

Now let’s get to why this feels even worse than everything I just said. Here are their plushies for various other types disabilities

They’re so cute and have color pallets that tie into representing the disability. But when you come to the ocd mental health bunny there’s no references to anything actually supportive about ocd, or even including the color of our ribbon. Our ribbon is such a pretty teal and yet you went with such a drab and depressing design.

Moral ocd is like working yourself to the point of no restoreable energy and absolute burnout but still somehow you're the worst person alive and all blood is on your hands and literally dreaming of creating art and your brain adding the intrusive thought in your dream that the art you created is problematic and you wake up sweating bc doing Smth wrong is your worst nightmare at this point and you literally start crying when you accidently get a fact wrong
