IT’S ACE DAY

so of course I’m friendly reminding you of my webcomic ELLIS for the special @acesincomics event.

ELLIS is a queerplatonic romance between a demisexual non-binary werewolf and a bisexual human who find themselves in an awkward situation when they both have a crush on the same unknown student.

There is chaos, there is support and cakes, there is a werewolf find out what they want of a romantic partner, there is a chaotic bi who lives very intense crushes, and above everything there are two close friends still learning and exploring. All made with the loveliest watercolours I could paint.

🌴✨ California Magic is a graphic novel series which follows a found family of monsters, magic users, and joe schmoes as they bumble their way into the nefarious inner workings of their home city.

I'm an ace person myself, so I wanted to create a series for mature readers that doesn't rely heavily on sexual content. Three of the prominent characters are acespec! Two of which are the main focus in our first completed story, which is now available to read here on Tumblr: @curiahcity

Hi! I’m Hope and I’m an Ace comic creator. I’m currently working on the comic “Corvid’s Eye” which you can read on tapas and on webtoon (link is in my pinned post) I also have another one brewing on the side but it’s still just brewing. I always like to have an ace representative in my work - especially trying to show off different kinds of ace and show how you can love and be loved. Even when you feel you can’t give all society ask of you in a romantic relationship - doesn’t mean you won’t find someone who’ll still love you no matter what.

Yelena Belova is canonically aroace.

Lately people dismissing that has been getting on my nerves VERY much, so I’m making this post lol.

First the terminology:

Aromantic — an individual who doesn’t experience romantic attraction.

Asexual — an individual that doesn’t experience sexual attraction.

AroSpec — spectrum that includes different aromantic identities, from aros who don’t feel romantic attraction to those who do under certain circumstances or rarely.

AceSpec — spectrum that includes different asexual identities, from aces who don’t feel sexual attraction to those who do under certain circumstances or rarely.

So first thing i will put here is this;

This in my humble opinion should be enough of a proof, but apparently it is not.

First this part of an interview, the person speaking is a creator/co-creator of Yelena. She says she is most likely to identify as asexual than to follow Nat’s romantic path. Hinting at both aro & ace.

So in the comics Yelena shows no interest dating, as far as i am aware she has no romantic interest in the comics. She is repulsed by sex, she calls herself „nothing” referring to her sexual identity.

As much as many like to say she is a lesbian, she is not, how fucking stupid you sound, honestly. She says it herself, if I said I’m not a lesbian, would you question it? No? Then don’t question her, she says she is not a lesbian, she has no wlw storyline. Drop the fucking lesbian hc.

Some possible foreshadowing in the MCU

1. When she is talking with a widow and a former Ana (show: Hawkeye), there is a line said by the widow accompanying her: „…you and Natasha can be reunited again and live your sex in the city fantasy”.

^ Yelena leaves the room, as soon as the word „sex” is mentioned her face drops, then we have this scene where she’s looking at herself in the mirror.

2. When talking about kids and family (movie: Black Widow) she mentions she wants a dog.

3. When describing „fake story” of her life she made up because her birth certificate was burnt she says Natasha has a husband and talks about her parents, but mentions nothing about her husband or possible spouses or children. (movie: Black Widow)

4. Yelena tends to wear a lot of aro/ace flag colors.

green coat & purple lipstick (green = aro | purple = ace)

yellow & blue colors = aroace flag

Overall Yelena wears a lot of green and white and black together, aromantic flag colors.

^^ can you call that „over the top?” yeah sure… let me remind yall something else:

when enid wore this sweather yall went WILD.

but when Yelena is wearing aroace colors all the time it’s called „reaching”…?

I will continue this with even more, because while you can agree with me and say she is aroace, still there will be people who claim she is aroace, agree, but then this fucking argument comes into place:

„AROS CAN DATE”

„ACES CAN FUCK”

„QPRS EXIST”

Do you see what’s wrong with those sentences? Nothing.

There’s a „but” thoooo…

There is nothing wrong with those, but using those arguments to totally ignore her sexuality ship her and treat her like suddenly she is allo is not it.

Yelena has shown no interest in dating or sex, we can assume she is sex-repulsed as she has shows repulsion to sex and she is to me at least implied to be romance-repulsed.

And we’ve found the problem.

Sex Repulsed Aces are as you can imagine repulsed by sex. Romance Repulsed Aros are repulsed by romance… So how is someone repulsed by said things engaging in said interaction and is not repulsed by them???

I think it’s a great idea to write her into said situations to show she is repulsed and to show it’s okay, because her life, my life, the lives of other uninterested in such thing aro/ace, our lives don’t end here.

Using how some people navigate through their sexuality to justify this is wrong.

You wouldn’t write a lesbian with a man, because bi lesbians exist and she may be a bi lesbian, right?

^ just an fyi, that’s an example, the term bi-lesbian is extremely harmful to both bisexuals and lesbians. check out this for more.

The QPR dilemma is that you don’t understand what a QPR is… it’s not more than friends…it’s not in the middle, it’s out of the regular binary of relationships. Relationships I actually think are QPRs:

Friends with benefits — purely platonic, but you fuck.

Situationship — just friends that do romantic stuff together, unless you call it a romantic relationship, with the other person agreeing on that, it is not one.

QPRs are amazing and beautiful, but it’s not always about fucking and kissing and „acting like a couple” but being a QPR. It can be being friends and living together, not temporary. It can be being friends and co-parenting. It can be many things.

But as I said Yelena is repulsed, why would someone repulsed by sex/romance engage in said thing happily with no doubts, fears, negative feelings just because it’s a qpr, so it’s suddenly fine…?

This is for now all I have to say about this.

As an AroAce, who desires no romantic relationship or a sexual one please please please let us have this representation, for once in our fucking lives.

Haven't been on in a hot minute but I'm Dragons, an agender aroace creator and i make the comic Skull & Pyro on webtoon and tapas, featuring two aroace queerplatonic husbands committing crimes and becoming a problem for everyone around them 💙🤍💛🧡 We got Bonehill the edgy intellectual who’s too tired to be an intellectual, and Zerako the sweetheart pyromaniac. They love headbonking like cats and cuddling and crimes 💕 Its a comedy fantasy adventure with minimal angst for thoust weary soul. Tis SFW, theres 1 brief kiss scene that half the readers didnt even realize was a kiss scene which is good bc i never plan on drawing one again BDJDJDKJDKDJ otherwise theres just a bunch of cussing and thats it.

Ace recommendations

Welcome to ace recommendations, where I will recommend pieces of media that i have read/watched that either is about being asexual, has an asexual character in it, or is created by someone who is asexual.

Today's recommendation is the webcomic "Lumine" by Kaburion/Emma Krogell.

The webcomic follows Lumine, a werewolf, as he becomes the bodyguard of a young witch named Kody. He tries to befriend Kody, who's distances himself from most; however, the two or brought together by an unfortunate event. They have to stick together to get out of a messy predicament.

Unlike the previous recommendations I have given here, there are no confirmed acespec characters in the webcomic. The creator of the comic; however, is aroace. Even though there aren't any canon acespec characters, reading the webcomic would be supporting an asexual artist.

Lumine can be read for free on Webtoon, and is scheduled to come back from its hiatus on August 27th.

It’s Acespec Comic Share weekend!!

Super cool. Since today’s prompt is about character designs let me bring back my CLERIC HUNTER PURESOUL.

Puresoul (he/him) is a very powerful elf sorcerer worshipper of very ancient gods. He is diabetic (like myself!) and has very bad headaches when has hyperglycaemias... He’s also very tired all the time when he’s not angry at something/someone. But even when he’s angry he behaves like the best friend in the world, because he is. He is also very fan of crochet, actually, if you were his friend you’d have your closet full of the cutest vests ever.

About his design I’ll say he has colorless eyes, a very rare trait that seems to be related with his skill of creating weird magic tricks that would only work once.

He is gay demisexual and kinda falls in love with his archenemy Warrior of the Stars Stargazer. They have a very special enemies-to-lovers bond with a bittersweet ending and I can’t wait to draw a loooong comic about it.

Admittedly, it took me a very long time to figure myself out, and I'm still not done yet, but being open with friends online has allowed me to feel a bit more okay with being open around people in person.

I started by coming out as asexual, as being ace is the one thing I've always been 100% certain of, even when I didn't have a term for it. I'm not sex repulsed, but I have no desire for it. I'm basically indifferent.

I wanted to make one of my longtime main characters asexual to reflect myself, so I chose Art to take that on. He's equal parts anxious and bull-headed, which puts him at odds with himself. He knows he's capable of handling most any situation, but he's gonna stress about it regardless.

I feel Art and his wife, Rocky, embody a healthy relationship that has zero reliance on sex, or societal norms for married couples. They're in their late 20s-early 30s, don't desire children, and don't have sex. They also have one of the most healthy and strong relationships in my comic series. Rocky is also asexual.

...and then there's Oz, another main who's portrayed as more of a "middle of the road" character morally. A protagonist only in his own life, but can serve to be friend or foe to anyone else. His story involves him having been split from his fiance after she cheated on him, and Oz takes an incredibly long time to find closure within himself, with some unwitting help from Art.

Oz is demisexual and demiromantic, and he personally doesn't find interest in potential partners very often. He's hooked up with another person maybe a few times in his 32 years of living, and he doesn't particularly care to look around. He's in the "if it happens, it happens" boat when it comes to finding a partner. He doesn't actively pine for any sort of romantic or sexual meaning.

Oh, by the way, they're both shapeshifting monster folks.

Hello folks, new host here taking over to get this tournament on the road. I can't edit the older posts, so here's a reminder/update on the current lineup. Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory. The writers see his asexuality as a problem he needs to fix.

Alastor from that one hotel show. He's an aro/ace serial killer, and when his creator heard about how a-spec fans were upset about people erasing his orientations to ship and sexualize him she encouraged it.

Lack of evidence:

Odo from Star Trek. (All I found when I looked for proof was headcanons. Disqualified because he's canonically shown sexual attraction.)

Carpenter Glass from The Silt Verses ("Up for interpretation" usually means that they don't want to shut down headcanons but don't intend to write the character that way intentionally or follow through on it)

Klaus from Spy Classroom (he is canonically aromantic, but I could find no canon proof that he is asexual as well)

Patty O'Connor from Kevin Can F**k Himself (writers leave her sexuality ambiguous on purpose as the story is written as her figuring out her identity without ever having her land on what it is)

Acespec Comic Share!!

Hello friends!!

If you don't know, I'm the creator of Once Up On a Time on tapas and webtoon. It's a fantasy/adventure/comedy about a queerplatonic polycule who accidentally uncovers a foreign prince's conspiracy to kidnap the possibly-corrupt queen and take over their country. They must navigate their home country, avoiding magical dangers and faerie tricks along the way to stop him before he ruins everything.

The main characters are Once, an aroace nonbinary trans man who's only a little bit of a kleptomaniac, and Time, a bi ace "man" who immigrated to Valenxia as a teenager to escape the ever-worsening magic poisoning radiating around his home. They're queerplatonic partners, as well as Hazel, their lesbian witch friend who is helping them uncover the prince Keal's plans.

It's SFW, but contains brief scenes with mild gore and has body horror scenes planned for the future. There is also some swearing.

Prompt: What's a comic project (or part of your current comic) you are looking forward to this year?

I am really excited for these next two coming chapters! I'm finally getting to show of some more cool magic, a dragon, a character that hasn't been met yet, a dragon, and some really fun character interaction! Oh, and a dragon.
