btw if Will hadnt honey trapped Hannibal amd they really HAD run away on Mizumono with Abigail, i do think the 'Happy Little Family' thing wouldve lasted maybe a week before Abigail wouldve poisoned them both or something. cuz god damn i do not believe that girl would settle for another hostage situation. and also she would be justified too.

actually it's kind of funny how people will say Alex's fatal flaw is that he 'doesn't ask for help' and that it's his determination to handle things on his own that leads to his deterioration and eventual death when his whole introduction to the present-day timeline was a very literal cry for help that simply went ignored

#N posts stuff #like even if you think alex was lying throughout the entirety of season 2 and he was waiting from the Moment jay showed up #JUST to kill him (Which again i don't think makes much sense when he could have killed Tim & Jay immediately instead of #breaking Tim's leg. anyway) EVEN IF alex spent that whole time lying it doesn't actually change the fact that he would have at least #been Pretending to Ask For Help and if he wasn't lying then he was Literally Asking For Help and it doesn't Actually matter #what intention Alex had because the text is Ambiguous about Alex's honesty during season two; what isn't ambiguous is the way #other characters (specifically Jay) respond to him; like yeah - S2 Brian/Tim were never in one million years going to help Alex with shit #so sort of any argument that brings up Tim as someone who asks for/offers help is borderline meaningless in this era of the series #Jay had the 'opportunity' to help Alex (and i'll get back to that in a sec) but DIDN'T - Jay wasn't Interested in actually offering Alex #'help' bc Jay is ultimately curious about Answers and 'Offering Help' and 'Getting Answers' are two Wildly conflicting goals #Jay thinks Alex has answers and when Alex doesn't Offer these 'Answers' to Jay on a silver platter Jay gets pissed off and paranoid #and starts Stalking Alex bc he thinks it's 'Suspicious' that Alex won't give him the Answers (that Alex probably doesn't Actually have)#ANYWAY. ultimately this post is about how it's absurd when people argue #that individual character choices could have made a difference in the way this series played out - specifically wrt Alex #because EVERYONE in this WHOLE series are being affected by influences outside of their control ; including Brian Tim and Jay #so it's silly when people are like 'if ALEX had just made a different choice For Himself this could have all been avoided' WRONG.#bc Ultimately there's not really a way to 'help' someone else out of this situation - Tim tried and failed Repeatedly #the comics proved he even failed with Jessica - like MH isn't a horror situation where you can kill the big bad #'getting help' is a meaningless argument - what would successfully helping or getting help even look like? anyway.#the sub argument of this post is that Alex's biggest 'sin' is that he doesn't perform emotions the way other people want him to #like Alex is a character with a kind of flat affect - instead of LOOKING scared or grieved he LOOKS bored or angry #and everyone judges him based on that - so Alex is 'Suspicious' he's 'Lying' he's 'Guilty' but all of these deductions are predicated #on the belief that Alex isn't reacting to his circumstances the way a 'Normal' person would - so it MUST all be an act and so he's guilty #so everyone treats him like he's guilty until the end of season two when he's like 'Fuck it FINE i'll be guilty then' and so it goes #not a self-fulfilled prophecy but being Cornered Into a prophecy and then Blamed for it - SAD. anyway

#guys that comic was so so good #okay so of course you’ve got twissy #but also #a big part of the plot revolves around unit and the delgado master #and missy impersonating the doctor to gain delgado!master’s trust #so you have threegado going on #but also missy flirting with another one of her past selves again while she’s doing a shitty impersonation of her boyfriend #BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE #river song shows up out of nowhere to save the day while missy’s pretending to be the doctor #so of course they flirt #then missy and delgado!master hop around their timelines to look for the macguffin #so we get a highlight reel of some of the gayest thoschei moments #including the tensimm junkyard tantrum and spydoc kneeling power play #So that makes uhhh #twissy #threegado #tensimm #spydoc #thoschei #best enemies #doctor who #missy doctor who #delgado!master #gomez!master #doctor who comics #twelfth doctor #it was also just a really good comic too #great art fun writing solid characterization #if you’re a fan of missy or thoschei definitely give it a try

Did they tho? I'm gonna have to guess here which Asian mum white dad your talking about here bc there is 4 main ones in the show that being sportsmaster and Paula; jade and will; lady shiva and David cain tho he's not actually in the show; Talia and Bruce

Let's get the obvious out of the way Paula is portrayed as a way better parent then sportsmaster there shouldn't be any debate in that - Talia in the show is also so far been portrayed as a good mom tho we've not seen a lot of her and damian she says that damian will be protected and will not grow up without his mum - jade leaves lian and Will bc she's worried that her dangerous life may put them both in risk but she is shown to be constantly doubting that choice and wants to go back to them considering jade also leaves lian with Roy in the comics bc jade thinks that will be safer for her theres not really much difference in their level of parenting

That leaves lady shiva and David cain tho as stated cains not in the show so we don't actually know if he's still her dad- in the comics cain raises cass in complete solitude to the point that she's never heard anyone speak so she herself is unable to speak, being raised to be nothing but a weapon when she is 8 years old cain makes cass kill for the first time, she doesn't like that so she escapes her dad and lives the next 8 years on her own, she will later meet her mom lady shiva who knew what cains plain was when she handed cass over to him but was interested to see if he could make a child that would one day be able to kill her and that's what she wanted from cass when they later meet a fight to the death - in the yj cartoon shiva is the one training cass instead but instead of not letting cass hear speech for the first few years of her life lady shiva instead damages her vocal cords so she's unable to speak - she's sent out on her first mission to assassinate joker when she's 15 but babs stops her before she's able to - I can not honestly say I think yj lady shiva is a worse or better parent then David cain is in the comics to me they're pretty even for shitty parent but lady shiva isn't even a parent to cass in the comics they have this really interesting complex relationship but a good parent to cass yeah not really

Dc does have a big issue with how they portray asain mums in their comics but it is very disingenuous to say they are portraied worse in the yj cartoon bc that's just not true

#ask #anon #This does touch on one of the vaild criticisms I've seen of the show #Which is obviously how they portray cass' mutism #In the comics this issue is resolved by having a meta rewire her brain so she can understand language #But bc in the show it's her vocal codes that are damaged and they don't seem to be doing anything to repair them #It plays into the silent Asian stereotype #But yeah the asain mums being portrayed as bad mom's #Is a big fucking issue in the comics #And something that needs to be fixed #But pretending like this is just a critism of the yj cartoon and not the whole of dc comics #That's not helpful
