270 follower celebration
Prompt: “I’m sorry, I’m probably suffocating you.” (Cuddling)
The only reason I chose Rex is because hands down Fives would not care. He is a shameless cuddle bug. Rex worries.
Warnings: none, just fluffy domesticity with Rex.”
Cuddles (Rex x Reader)
The holo-reality show was honestly oretty boring and campy, but it was the only thing on that didn’t have to do with the war. You were tucked comfortably into Rex’s side, eyes dropping and lashes obscuring your view.
You tried to stifle a yawn, but to no avail as your lover caught it out of the corner of his eye.
Weariness laced Rex’s voice. “Ready to go to bed, Cyare?”
You sighed and stretched. “I think I’m going to fall asleep right here.”
A soft chuckle left him as he kissed your temple and stood up,striding towards the bedroom. You couldn’t help but gaze at him, stripped down to his blacks, muscles showing beautifully under the snug fabric.
You hauled yourself up and trotted behind him to change into your nightclothes as he climbed into bed, but only sat there, waiting for you. You knew exactly what he wanted.
With a slight smile gracing your lips, you slid in next to him and lay flat on your back. Once you were situated, he flopped down on top of you and wrapped his arms around your back. You giggled and ran a hand over his buzzed hair. He lifted his head from your chest and squinted to see your face in the dark.
“I’m sorry, I’m probably suffocating you.”
You smiled and shook your head. “I’m fine. Go to sleep.”
He faceplanted into your chest again and snuggled closer. Another giggle left your lips and he groaned ‘what’ without lifting his head.
“Just never thought that the hardcore captain of the 501st would be such a cuddler.”
“‘s rare.”
“Lucky me.” You cooed, pressing a kiss to the crown of his head.
“Lucky you.” He echoed as he drifted off.
You closed your eyes and held your beloved trooper close, ready to slip into the quiet night.

Summary: Oregon and mystery has the reader and spencer growing closer in a case.
warnings: normal criminal minds things,
A/N: based on season 7 episode 19; this is one of my fav episodes
Tumblr media
“You know, Y/N, you should join me for one of my hand-on-hand combat classes,” Derek spoke walking up to stand between Y/N and Spencer who were walking out of the elevator.
“And why’s that, Derek?” She asked, her head dramatically turning to the side to look at him.
“Well you got shot, you need to add some combat to go along to your scars,” he said laughing.
Y/N rolled her eyes at the man, knowing he meant no harm, and he genuinely wanted her to come to one of his classes.
“Morgan, I am a very good hand-on-hand fighter, remember I was top of the class at the academy,” she said, opening the door to the bullpen.
“She was, and when she was scared by her neighbor the other morning she--”
“Hey! Look Hotch texted we have a case let’s go,” Y/N interrupted Spencer before he could finish the embarrassing story.
“Alright wonder woman, whatever you say.” Derek laughed as he ruffled Y/N’s her walking towards the round table room, her and Spencer following closely behind.
The round table room was filled with the others as they sat down. Penelope being the only one missing from the room.
“Oh my gosh, I am so sorry for the delay,” Penelope said, swiftly walking into the room as she carried her laptop in her hands. “The system was down. We overwork her. And I had to go into the belly of the beast, who I affectionately nicknamed Persephone, and do some machine whispering, oh-” she stopped, grabbing her remote from Derek as he handed it to her- “thank you. Which is good because this one is a doozy.”
“It will never cease to amaze me how much she can get out in one breath,” Y/N said leaning over to Rossi next to her.
 “Oh yeah,” he agreed.
“Emma Baker, thirty-eight, math teacher from Medford, Oregon. She went missing seventeen days ago, and her body was found yesterday afternoon at St. Baldwin’s, St. Baldwin’s is a now-defunct psychiatric hospital for the criminally insane. Now that is in Salem, Oregon, which is 270 miles away from Medford and we’ve been called in for the bizarre nature of the case.” Penelope then pulled up a picture of the body that was found.
The victim laid on a bed, hands folded across her stomach, and dressed in a dress from the sixteenth century.
“Wow, look at that dress,” JJ said as she looked at the picture.
“Was she going to a renaissance fair?” Emily asked.
“Not with her feet bound,” Y/N said as she looked at the victim’s feet.
“And the missing persons report says she was in jeans and a t-shirt,” Penelope added.
“Look at how she’s laid out, it’s almost like it’s a ceremony and she’s the sacrifice,” Derek said, flipping through the pictures in his hand.
“There’s obvious staging going on,” Rossi said.
“Could it be a ritualistic killing?” JJ asked.
“And the cause of death is still unclear, the M.E. report shows no sign of sexual assault or mutilation except mangled and missing fingernails,” Hotch explained.
“You know, there were rumors of satanic rites being performed at a Byberry Hospital in Pennsylvania, which is also an abandoned asylum,” Spencer said.
“Judging by all the graffiti, this place isn’t exactly locked down,” Derek observed.
“Uh, yeah, local P.D. said that vandals and vagrants have been breaking in,” Penelope added on to Derek.
“Which means she could have been killed elsewhere and placed here,” Y/N said.
“She had limestone under her fingernails, but limestone wouldn’t have been used when this asylum was built, so she was obviously held somewhere else,” Spencer said, looking over to Y/N.
“Well, the bottom line is, the unsub transported her hundreds of miles from her hometown for a reason,” Emily said.
“We just need to find out what that reason is, wheels up in 30,” Hotch said, dismissing everyone.
---------------
“Emma Baker was a divorced math teacher, no children,” Rossi said as they began going over victimology.
“She has a boyfriend, though, who’s a drummer in a goth band. Her Facebook has pictures of them at the Bram Stoker Vampire festival and Slayerama, which celebrates all things gothic,” Penelope explained.
“Hm, a teacher by day, Elvira by night,” JJ said with a posing smirk on her face.
“Well, clearly this is a woman with two different sides to her personality,” Derek said, taking a sip of coffee from his mug.
“Yeah, the boyfriend’s band pours fake blood all over themselves on stage,” Spencer said, looking at a page in the manila folder.
“Ah, reminds me of high school,” Y/N said as her eyes locked on the file in her lap.
The eyes of everyone on the team turned to her in question at her statement. She looked up, realizing what she had said didn’t make sense to them.
 “Don’t ask.”
“Okay, so if these two were Satanists, it wouldn’t be a stretch,” Emily said, going back to the topic of victimology.
“Garcia, has the boyfriend been questioned by local P.D.?” Hotch asked.
“He has, by phone. He’s got an airtight alibi, he and his band have been on tour in Asia for the last month,” Penelope answered.
“If it’s not the boyfriend, the unsub could be someone in their circle,” Y/N said.
“Emily, you asked earlier if she was going to a renaissance fair, there’s something to that,” Rossi said, looking at Emily next to him.
“Based on the dress, there could be more of a connection to history then the occult,” Emily spoke.
“Renaissance fairs typically replicate sixteenth-century England,” Spencer began. “They surged in popularity since they began in the 1960s.”
“And it’s not just a bunch of nerds in customs eating turkey legs, you guys,” Penelope added.
Y/N hummed in agreement, memories of her and her high school friends going to the fairs coming to mind.
“A different time is somehow very important to this unsub,” Hotch said.
-------------
Y/N stood with Spencer and JJ as they waited for the tailor in the shop to come back. They had just gotten a call from Derek telling them that she died from nicotine poisoning through the garments of the dress she was sown into.
“This unsubs’, not the first to do this, poisoned garments actually have an incredibly long history, going all the way back to the shirt of Nessus, which killed Hercules,” Spencer explained, Y/N listening intently.
A door chimed as the tailor entered the room, bringing the attention of the three to him.
“Okay, so, I double-checked, and this fabric-” the tailor pointed to the fabric in the evidence bag- “is not manufactured for commercial sale,” he explained.
“Is it possibly something from the past that was maybe discontinued?” Spencer asked.
“No,” the tailor responded. “I can tell you one thing though, the fabric is a double-layer brocade. It was probably custom-made for someone, and is very pricey.”
“What about the dress, was there anything that stood out?” Y/N asked the man.
“Well, it’s homemade for one,” he responded.
“Okay, how do you know that?” JJ asked.
“Well, the seams are uneven. Whoever the seamstress is, she isn’t very skilled,” the tailor explained.
“What makes you so sure it’s a woman?” Spencer asked.
“Well, there’s some detail to the work in here that would require small hands,” the tailor explained.
Y/N looked up to Spencer, seeing how he also had the same questioning look on his face as her.
“Oh and this is interesting,” the tailor said to bring their attention to the picture of the dress. “See, now, the stitching on this hem, it’s narrow in some places and wider in others.”
“Small hands, easily distracted,” Spencer said, picking up on what the tailor was showing in the picture. “Let me ask you this, how old do you think someone could be and still effectively sew this?”
“Well, a pattern of this complexity, they’d have to be a teenager,” the tailor said, handing Spencer the items as he turned around and saw some fabrics being brought in.
“Okay, thanks,” Y/N said to the man as he walked away. She walked over to Spencer and looked at the pictures of the dress again.
“Based on the size of the victim’s body, I think only an adult male would be able to lift her and move a hospital bed,” JJ said, putting together all the information she had been told.
“So, what’re we looking for a team?” Y/N asked looking between JJ and Spencer.
“Or an unsub with a young accomplice who’s been coerced,” Spencer elaborated.
JJ and Y/N looked at each other both nodding as they silently agreed with what Spencer was saying. The three left the building and headed to the car parked outside the door.
---------------
Y/N walked into the room of the next victim with Emily and Rossi. The body adorning another renaissance style dress was laying in the middle of the room.
“Alice Pritchard was 22, a senior at Portland College, she went missing five days ago, a realtor found her body here this morning,” The detective explained as they walked up to the body.
“I don’t see any physical similarities to our first victim, she’s a lot smaller than Emma, different coloring, different age,” Emily pointed out as she observed the victim.
“So that means these women aren’t surrogates for anyone,” Y/N said.
“But he did lay her out the same way,” Emily added.
“She’s displayed in the center of the room just like the other victim in the asylum,” Rossi said.
“It’s almost like she’s being presented,” Y/N said, tucking her hands into her navy coat pockets as she walked to the end of the body.
Emily crouched down next to the body and inspected the dress. “There is so much attention paid to detail, this is also satisfying some internal desire of the unsub,” she explained.
“So, why leave bodies in an empty storefront and the asylum?” The detective asked.
“Good question,” Rossi said, turning around to look out the window. Y/N followed behind him to see what was out of the window also. “There should be a connection between the two.”
“Or maybe it’s not about the storefront at all, look,” Y/N said, pointing to a theater across the street.
“A theater company performing Shakespeare,” Emily said, reading the sign above the doorway.
The three turned back to look at the body.
“The dress, the white makeup, this victim could literally be wearing a costume,” Emily said as she looked between Rossi and Y/N.
“What if this was the closest to the theater that the unsub could get…” Rossi trailed off.
 “Without being caught,” Y/N finished.
----------
Y/N stood next to Spencer as him and Hotch worked on what the numbers from the writing on the wall could be.
“Alice’s sorority sisters say she wanted to be a nurse and she was active in a Christian youth group,” Derek said as he approached the three.
“So the opposite of our last victim,” Y/N said as she let out a huff, sitting down in one of the seats around the table.
“Yeah, and if she was into anything dark, her best friends sure didn’t know anything about it,” JJ continued.
“She was in Portland collecting donations for an orphanage when she disappeared. The unsub could have approached her on the street,” Derek said, looking at Hotch.
Y/N looked over to Spencer, his eyes darting back and forth from the folder in his hands to the numbers written on the clear board.
“Hey, baby girl, you’re on speaker, give me the lowdown,” Derek said answering the phone.
“Chocolate thunder, you can have the whole kit and caboodle just say the word,” Penelope flirted. “Oh, and I cross-referenced the names you found on the wall with missing women in Oregon and I came up with some matches. Christine Torres is a forty-year-old homemaker from Eugene, Oregon. She went missing over a month ago after she dropped her kids off at school.”
“Any other women named Emma missing?” JJ asked.
“Uh-uh, just the one whose body we found, same thing with Alice,” Penelope answered.
“Garcia, what was the exact date Christine was reported missing?” Spencer asked as he backed away from the board.
“February 28th, Emma went missing on March 19th, and Alice on the 22nd,” Penelope answered.
Spencer walked back over to the board and looked at the numbers. Y/N stood up from her chair to stand next to him, wondering what it was he was seeing.
“What is it, Spence?” She asked him.
“Look at this.” Spencer grabbed her hand gently and pulled her behind the clear board. “I think these numbers are dates if you reverse them and chop off the eleven at the beginning and end--”
“That’s two days after each woman went missing,” Hotch interrupted.
“It’s more than that though look,” Spencer said coming back around to the front of the board, pointing to the first number. “March 1st is Sain Eichatadt day, March 21st is the Spring Equinox, and the 24th is the Feast of the Beast.”
“Those are all important holidays in the satanic calendar for sacrifices,” Y/N said coming to the same realization Spencer was. Their minds clicked together and now they both had the same thoughts running through.
“What about the eleven on the end?” Derek asked.
“To many of occultists, the eleven is symbolic of Lucifer,” Spencer explained.
“Okay, I thought we were moving away from satanic killings,” JJ said.
“Apparently we need to reconsider it.” Hotch’s eyes were trained on the file with the victims in them.
“There’s gotta be some sort of connection to the devil here,” Spencer said, which had Y/N nodding her head in agreement.
“Reid, what other upcoming dates are significant to Satanists?” Hotch asked.
“Good Friday, then Easter Eve, and then preparations begin in mid-April for the most important night of all--”
“Walpurgis night on April 30th,” Y/N said, turning to Spencer. He looked at her surprised, having no idea she knew so much about this stuff.
“Good Friday’s in two days, that means he’s hunting for his next victim today.” Derek’s concern in his voice was evident as he spoke.
“We need to give the profile soon,” Hotch said, agreeing with Derek’s concern.
They nodded, going their separate ways to do their work. As normal, Spencer and Y/N stayed by the boards to work, as they both found it was the easiest place to focus.
“Since when did you know all about these things?” Spencer’s back was turned to Y/N as he looked at the boards.
“Hm?” She questioned, not knowing what he meant.
“About these Satanic things, should I be concerned?” He joked with her, which she returned with a small laugh.
“There’s a lot of things you still don’t know about me, Dr. Reid.” Y/N winked at the boy wonder, making a beating red blush form on his face.
His mouth opened to speak, but truly he was too flustered to do so. The simple act of the wink making his knees go weak.
“No, in high school I had to write a paper on the Salem Witch Trials. I dabbled into some of the Satanic stuff to build my thesis more and give some context,” she said, shrugging as she turned back to her work.
Spencer nodded as if silently saying ‘cool’, his own attention now being divided back to the board.
As the two worked, they gave silent glances to each other. Unbeknownst to the other, these were the simple acts that formed their love for each other inside. While they had been dating for a while now, both of them falling in love each moment they spent together, they never voiced the feelings for each other.
Spencer not doing so because of his small fear of rejection. Thoughts that said, what if she doesn’t say it back? or does she not feel the same way?, were ones that vacated his thoughts. But when he looked at her smile, he couldn’t help but feel a fire burn in his heart, her presence being the very thing that started and fueled it. When he held her in his arms, her scent vacating his senses, he could feel all his anxiety leave him. The only thing mattering in those moments was her, and how she felt and smelled. How when she touched him he’d go weak and want nothing more than to just lay with her all day. The thoughts of their future would play like a movie in his head as he held her, and he couldn’t wait for him to act it out.
Now Y/N, she never voiced it because of her constant fear he would be taken away from her. Her fear being that the moment she said it, the next day he would be gone. Her tormentor taking him away and hurting the one she was beginning to love the most. She wasn’t afraid of love per se, but the thought of her having to say it aloud like she had to in front of Caroline to her friends, it only made her want to crawl away and hide. Y/N knew, she knew this feeling that Spencer was it for her, was true. Her heart could tell her it faster than her brain could even have time to think about it. When he held her or when she kissed him, the butterflies were everywhere in her. They fluttered in her stomach and they clouded all rational thought. And the one thing that gave her the most anxiety, was the fear of her great love being taken away.
-------------
“Based on the dresses and makeup the victims were found in, we’re looking for an unsub who is living in an elaborate fantasy world.” The crowd of officers listened intently as Emily began the profile.
“Be believes he’s special, as though he could be acting on behalf of the devil,” Y/N continued.
“This unsub tortured his victims by submerging them in water for days before killing them,” JJ said.
“Which means he’s deliberate and patient,” Y/N embellished on what JJ said.
“This guy has a vivid imagination,” Derek began. “The costumes and makeup suggest that he’s a history buff or he may be a fan of Shakespeare.”
“Using nicotine as poison is highly unusual, so he’s either very well-read or under the guidance of another,” Spencer spoke with his hands as he explained.
“His interests and delusions have caused him to become isolated socially,” Emily said.
“He can’t appear normal to his potential targets, and his crimes are not driven by sex or greed, but instead by his delusional belief system,” Rossi added.
“Although the bodies of only two victims have been recovered, there’s likely a third. Specifically, Christine Torres, who disappeared in February,” Hotch said.
“This unsubs exact age is difficult to determine, but he’s probably in his 20s to 30s,” Derek explained.
“The fact that he travels so far to abduct his victims indicates he has very specific selection criteria,” Y/N said, then turning to Spencer who began to speak.
“This unsub has a female or underage accomplice who sewed the dresses the victims were found in, but she may not be a partner in the traditional sense. It’s quite possible she was coerced into helping and may actually be a victim herself, ” Spencer said.
“Most importantly, this unsub is working according to a specific timetable,” Hotch explained.
“This timetable is corresponding with the Satanic calendar and his plans are to kidnap another victim of today,” Y/N said.
“Thank you.” Hotch’s words dismissed everyone.
----------
The room bustled as people were working on the case and other things. Y/N’s eyelids were heavy from the long day as the aimless chatter in the background made her sleepy. She reached over to her coffee cup, taking a large gulp of the warm liquid, praying that the caffeine would give her a boost of energy.
She looked at the photos Spencer held, her chair sliding closer to his so she could observe them closer, Spencer and the photos. The heat from his body radiating onto hers as she got close and she was able to be filled with his warm scent. Her eyes panned up to look at Spencer’s face, his brows furrowed in concentration as he looked at the white makeup on the faces of the victims.
“What’s got your wheels turning?” She asked him.
Spencer’s head turned to look at the woman next to him. He stuttered a bit as he formed his words,  not realizing she was this close to him. “I’m not sure, something about it--” he cut himself short as both his and Y/N’s attention turned to Rossi as he spoke to them.
“So, Garcia checked out everyone associated with that theater production of The Merry Wives of Windsor, they’re all in the clear.”
“The gowns have to be connected to the theater somehow, it can’t just be a coincidence,” JJ said.
“There’s something else that’s been bothering me, why is he putting white face makeup on his victims after they’re dead?” Spencer said, voicing his question to the group he almost said to Y/N a minute before.
“Isn’t that what they wore in the Elizabethan era?” Rossi asked.
“Yes, but only upper-class women wore white face makeup, it was a symbol of virginity and purity,” Spencer explained to the group.
“But he’s dressing them like characters in The Merry Wives of Windsor,” Y/N said as she followed Spencer’s train of thought.
“And that’s one of Shakespeare’s rare plays about the middle class,” Spencer added.
“So, it’s inconsistent.” JJ looked at Spencer as she waited for confirmation on her statement.
“The makeup could mean that he believes death is purifying them,” Hotch spoke.
“What if this is like the Salem Witch trials, where they’d test the girls by trying to drown them? Y/N said something to me earlier about how she had to write a paper on them, and it got me thinking,” Spencer said.
“If they died, it meant they were innocent, and if they somehow survived, they were considered witches and then hanged,” Y/N elaborated on what Spencer was saying.
“Wonderful, a lose-lose situation,” Rossi said.
“But the unsub didn’t submerge the victims in water to torture them, it was some sort of test?” JJ asked, looking over to Spencer.
“With death being the only possible outcome,” Spencer answered.
“Well, if he believes he’s killing witches, he probably thinks that he’s a vigilante or a protector against evil of some sort,” Hotch said.
“Laying the victims out the way he did could be a message to the devil,” JJ added.
“A symbol of victory and a warning, like putting a head on a spike.” Rossi looked down from his standing position to Y/N and Spencer who sat next to each other. Y/N then looked at Spencer, her mind thinking the same thing as him as Rossi’s word’s made him pause.
“He’s not worshipping the devil,” Y/N said with realization.
“He’s trying to fight him.” Spencer looked over to Y/N as he finished what she was saying.
“So we have an unsub who’s challenging the devil, this could not get any more strange,” Y/n said.
-----------
“Missing woman is Sarah Gammon, she’s a 27-year-old graphic artist, to pick her up for her weekly breakfast together, she wasn’t there,” the detective said, walking into the room.
It was the next morning, the team only getting a couple of hours of sleep after the long night they had before.
“Where was she last seen?” Rossi asked.
“At a nightclub in Portland, the, uh, Mirage Room.” The detective stuttered as he tried to remember the name. “She went with a girlfriend who had to leave early.
“Morgan and I will check it out,” Rossi said as he exited the room.
As Rossi left the room, Hotch’s phone rang.
“Okay, so I did some varsity-level sleuthing,” Penelope said as soon as Hotch answered the phone. “And it turns out the costumes were donated to the theater by a young actress named Cate Harris. She was in their production of The Merry Wives of Windsor 16 years ago, which was the only other time that the play was produced there.”
“Where is she now?” Y/N asked.
“Oh, I was hoping you would ask because I have the answer,” Penelope spoke with excitement. “She died in 1998 in the fire at St. Baldwins psychiatric hospital.”
“I revoke my statement from last night on this getting weirder,” Y/N whispered to herself.
“Was she a patient there?” JJ asked.
“Oh, most definitely. And some say that she set the fire.”
“Garcia, can you get her medical records?” Hotch asked the woman.
“Yeah, I tried to do that, but it turns out that the new director of St. Baldwin's was a technophobe hyper-Luddite like our Dr. Reid, and he only wanted the psych records to be on paper to protect confidentiality,” Penelope explained.
“Okay.” Hotch picked up his phone and hung it up, then pocketing it. “Detective, we need you to get a copy of those records.”
“You got it,” the detective said, turning to walk out of the room.
-----------------
The navy jacket was wrapped tightly around Y/N’s torso as her, Emily and JJ walked to the storage unit of St. Baldwins that lay beneath the asylum. They were stopped outside the unit as the caretaker unlocked it.
“Apparently, the state would have to pay for a new storage facility if they moved the records,” the detective explained as to why the unit stayed here. “Someone decided, why bother if the old place works?”
The three women nodded their heads as they heard the clanking of the lock coming off of the door. The caretaker opened the door, the creaking sound giving an eerie feeling to the air.
“Ladies.” The detective motioned his hands in a welcome motion as the three walked closer to the unit.
“No electricity, I take it,” Emily said as she noticed the absence of light.
“You would be correct,” the detective said from behind the three.
Y/N and Emily sighed, both of them pulling flashlights from their pockets as the entered the room. As Y/N walked through the room, her eyes followed the flashlight’s glow as she pointed it at all the different shelves. The creepy feel from the room made her on edge as she looked for the files they were looking for.
“Hey, I think I found it.” Y/N jumped slightly, not expecting to hear a voice jump in the quiet room.
She made her way over to Emily, JJ and the detective joining her as they looked over the report in Emily’s hand.
“Yeah, oh- first of all, Cate Harris was a stage name for Catherine Heathridge, a textile heiress. Her family kept the pseudonym for her medical admission to protect their privacy,” Emily explained as she read through the file.
Y/N picked up another file from the stack that was labeled ‘Cate Harris’. “According to the intake report,” she said as she began to read the file. “Catherine was an aspiring actress who went off her psychiatric medications when she was pregnant with her daughter. She had a minor part in The Merry Wives of Windsor 16 years ago when she became floridly psychotic. She was convinced the other actresses were the devil’s wives, so she stabbed one of them.”
“Is that when she was admitted here?” JJ asked.
“No, not yet,” Emily said as she looked at the report over Y/N’s shoulder.
“It looks like she had a son and a daughter. After she fled the theater--” Y/N gasped as her eyes gazed over the next line, handing the file to Emily as she wasn’t able to say what the woman did out loud. “You can finish it.”
“After fleeing the theater, she chopped off the left arm of her infant daughter,” Emily finished as she took the file from Y/N’s hand.
“Why would she do that?” The detective asked, voice stoic.
“To make the childless appealing to the devil,” Y/N said as she looked up to JJ and Emily. Her head previously resting in her hand.
“She believed that killing the devil’s wives was her mission on earth, which is what our unsub is doing now,” Emily explained.
“But she died in the asylum fire,” the detective stated.
“Someone else must be carrying out her mission,” JJ said.
“And I bet you it’s the son,” Y/N said, the gut feeling being present as she said her words to the others.
---------------
Y/N sat at the table while she told Spencer, Hotch, and Rossi about what they had discovered at the asylum. Her head resting on her hand as she looked up at the three men.
“If someone’s carrying on in Catherine’s mission, then it’s quite possible they both suffered from folie a deux, a shared psychotic disorder between two people who are extremely close and that would mean it’s most likely a family member,” Spencer explained after Y/N had told them all they found.
“It’s the son.” Y/N’s voice spoke in a sing-song tone under her breath.
“Maybe one or both of her kids,” Rossi stated.
“Garcia, I need you to find everything you can on the Heathridge family, specifically Catherine’s son and daughter,” Hotch ordered Penelope when she picked up her phone.
“Okay, finding it as we speak…” she trailed off as she began to look for what Hotch was asking. “Bingo, Catherine, a wealthy textile heiress, had a son: James, now twenty-six and a daughter Lara, now sixteen. Father died in a speedboat accident right before Lara was born. They were raised by their grandfather in a mansion outside Portland after their mom was committed.”
“Is the grandfather still alive?” Hotch asked.
“No, he died last year,” Penelope answered.
“That could have been the stressor,” Spencer thought aloud.
“Penelope, where are the kids living now?” Y/N asked.
“James was kicked out of a seminary in Colorado three years ago, but that’s still his listed address. Lara dropped out of school six weeks ago, coincidentally on her birthday and the family home is her listed address, and I’m sending you pictures...now.”
Photos of the house and kids appeared on the tablet screen. Y/N stood up and walked over next to Rossi as he clicked on the picture of the son.
“That could be him, the man at the night club who left with Sarah Gammon,” Rossi said as he inspected the picture.
“All right, contact the seminary,” Hotch said, looking at Spencer and Rossi. “Garcia, I’m gonna need an address, Y/N let’s go.” Hotch nodded for Y/N to follow him as he began to walk out of the room.
“Yes, sir,” she responded and followed him.
“Be safe.” Spencer’s words made Y/N turn back and give him a reassuring smile that said, I always am.
“Whipped,” Rossi said, covering it up with a cough as he walked away to grab his phone. Spencer just looked at the man confused, but simply went back to his work.
---------
The cars pulled up to the manor. Sirens turned off so that they still maintained the element of surprise. They piled out of the vehicles, JJ, Emily, and Derek joining Hotch and Y/N back at the station.
“Morgan, you and JJ take the back, we’ll take the front,” Hotch said.
JJ and Derek nodded and made their way around back, while Y/N, Hotch, and Emily stayed upfront.
Y/N examined the front of the house. It wasn’t a manor in the traditional sense, it had more of a woodsy feel to its exterior.
“You see that?” Emily asked Hotch and Y/N.
Y/N looked back up at the house, finally noticing what Emily was talking about. “There’s a girl in the window.”
“All right, you check up there-” Hotch nodded to Emily. “Me and Y/N will look for James.”
Emily nodded as they took off into the house, Y/N and Hotch separating from Emily as she headed up the stairs.
Hotch pushed the door to the kitchen open, turning quickly to his right and Y/N to the left. The darkrooms they entered were only lit by the flashlights. They walked through the rooms slowly, only separating for a second to go into two different sides of the room.
Y/N walked down the steps to the basement first, Hotch now behind her as he followed closely. The basement was cold, damp, and slightly lit through the windows by the moonlight. Y/N’s heart pounded in her ears, one foot in front of the other as she moved down the steps. Her light shined as she saw the body of the missing girl on the ground by what appeared to be well.
Y/N felt a sharp pain hit her hip. She groaned as she fell to the ground, her hand clutching her hip as she felt the bruise already forming.
Hotch also let out a groan as he was hit in the legs, his gun, and flashlight sliding across the ground.
Y/N looked up to see James get tackled by Hotch and shoved into a wall. James head-butted Hotch giving him a second to go over and try to hit Y/N while Hotch stumbled back.
James brought a fire-poker around from his left side, but before he could hit Y/N with it, she kicked it out of his hand. She pushed herself up onto her feet and got a quick, hard punch in to throw him off. This allowed Hotch to grab him and shove him back to a wall. The two threw punches back and forth before Hotch pulled him away and tried to push him into the ground.
Hotch had him off his guard and he began to push him towards the well. When James fought back and punched Hotch, Y/N came over and gave a hard kick to James’ chest.
James stumbled back, the kick was just enough to send him falling onto the edge of the well. When he came back up and lurched for Hotch again, clearly being his focus, Hotch was quick to throw him back, having him fall into the well this time.
Y/N stood next to Hotch as they looked down into the deep well, James’ body laying at the bottom.
“Teamwork.” Y/N huffed the word as she looked at Hotch who just shook his head and the two made their way out of the basement.
“You’re bleeding, better get that looked at,” Hotch said, pointing to Y/N eyebrow that was in fact bleeding from when she hit the ground.
When they reached outside, Hotch told the paramedics where James was and made Y/N get looked at after her many protests.
“I’m fine, seriously.” Her protests did not make him change his mind.
 “That’s an order.”
Y/N now stood with Derek as a paramedic put some butterfly bandages on the cut after accessing it was only a superficial cut.
“You good wonder woman?” Derek asked, the nickname from the previous day sticking.
“Oh yeah, you should see the other guy.” Her joke, cliche as it was, made Derek chuckle anyway as he turned to Emily as she approached.
“So, Lara is gonna be okay,” Emily said, walking over to the rest of them. “She confirmed that the bodies were left out as messages to the devil.”
“Well, her brother’s dead, so what happens to her now?” Derek asked.
“There’s always foster care,” the detective answered.
“For an heiress?” Y/N said the paramedic finished with her face and had moved on to the ambulance.
“Yeah, I don’t think so,” JJ agreed.
“There will be guardians and trustees coming out of the woodworks before she gets put into foster care,” Y/N said, making her teammates chuckle.
“So she’ll end up back here, in a house that breeds delusions,” the detective said, looking back to the house.
 “Hopefully not,” Hotch spoke.
-------------
“Okay, okay, what is the best book you have ever read?” The question made Spencer ponder.
Y/N and Spencer sat in a booth at a diner in D.C., the table holding breakfast foods for the late-night date. The warm glow that surrounded the two made all their worries vanish, their attention only on the other.
“That’s a hard one, I’ve read so many.” His thumb and pointer finger lined his jaw as he placed his head between the two. “I mean, I guess fiction might have to be one of Dickens works.”
Y/N nodded her head, her legs pulled up in the seat and she sat with her back to the wall. Spencer began going on about Oliver Twist and Y/N was listening intently to every word he spoke. Watching how his lips would move faster as he began to get excited about something he was saying, or the way his voice would go an octave higher when his hands moved as he spoke. A smile played on her lips as she listened to him as he went on.
She was so engrossed in her own mind of watching him that she didn’t even notice he asked her a question until his lips stopped moving.
 “Sorry, what?”
“I said, do you have a favorite work by Dickens?” He repeated his question with a laugh.
“Oh, probably Great Expectations, but I’m more of a fan of Poe, more than anything,” she answered. Her legs moved under the table as she sat facing Spencer in the both.
“For the moon never beams, without bringing me dreams, of the beautiful Annabel Lee,” Spencer quoted the poem, Anabel Lee. A smile formed on his as he watched a bashful blush on Y/N’s cheeks.
The simple poem about a tormented, beautiful young love never failed to have Y/N swoon. In high school, Anabel Lee was the poem she would read repeatedly in her textbook. The words she could quote by heart only sounded so sweeter coming from Spencer’s lips.
“I’ve always been a fan of dark romanticism,” she spoke. “This case we just had, reminded of something out of a book though if I’m being honest.” She brought her milkshake straw up to her lips, taking a sip of the creamy liquid.
“It was an odd one,” Spencer agreed.
Y/M hummed, her lips still wrapped around the straw. She pulled her eyes off Spencer to look out the window. She watched as people walked by, couples holding hands, men getting home from their offices late, but one stood out to her.
From a distance, about fifty yards across the street, a dark-haired man stood, staring at Y/N and Spencer out the window. She had no idea who this man was, but it made her stomach drop as she got a bad feeling.
“Spencer I think we should go home now,” she spoke calmly.
He furrowed his brows in confusion. “Okay, any reason why?”
“Because there is a man out there who has been staring at us for I don’t know how long, and I don’t want to deal with it anymore.” She stood up from her seat in the booth, wrapping her navy jacket around her body.
Spencer did the same as he stood up and walked next to her out of the building. “Do you think it has anything to do with--”
 “I have no clue--”
 “Could it?”
“I don’t know, let's just go back to your place, it’s closer.” So, that’s what they did. Spencer grabbed Y/N’s hand protectively and led her down the street while she kept her head down. The man’s face still in her thoughts, no expressions, just stoic and unsettling. His face was almost calm, seemingly normal to an untrained eye, but she knew. She could only hope this had nothing to do with Caroline and she was simply overreacting.

First Match (MC)
A Hogwarts!SOS idea I got Friday: Michael’s first time announcing a quidditch match.
Fluff!
Ravenclaw!Michael x OC
Word Count: 2,283
Michael took deep, slow breaths, calming himself as the stands filled for the first quidditch match of the year. He was excited when the head of Ravenclaw called him into their office on the first day of term, asking if he’d take over the announcer position, the previous announcer having graduated. His three best friends were each on their respective houses’ quidditch team, and he’d been close to the previous announcer, so he knew what he was getting himself into. The stadium filled with the low rumble of chatter as more and more people filled the stands, Michael twisted his wand between his fingers, trying to ground himself as he waited for the signal to start. He heard a shout of his name, and jumped, glancing to the side of the stand, and grinned when he laid eyes on Ashton. The seventh year Hufflepuff beater grinned at him, holding his hand up. Michael stood up, walking over to his friend, giving him a high five. Ashton grinned at the fifth year, saying, “You’re gonna do great, man, you’ve got this.”
Michael smiled, nodding at his friend, “Thanks man.” He waved goodbye, noticing his head of house waving him back to his seat.
Michael hopped back over, getting into his spot, clearing his throat and pointing his wand to his throat, “Sonorus,” he muttered, before starting to welcome everyone, “Hi everyone! Welcome to the first quidditch match of the year! For those of you first years who may be at your very first quidditch match ever, all four houses will be competing against each other for the Quidditch House Cup, which will be awarded before we take finals! It’s based on the total number of points each team gets in their official games throughout the school year, ten for every goal they score, and 150 for catching the snitch. Today’s match is Ravenclaw against defending champs Slytherin!
Each team has some new faces, on Ravenclaw, the third year Johnson twins taking over for the beaters who graduated last year, and in Slytherin they’ve trained up a new seeker, second year Thomas Oliver.
I’ve heard a lot of talk about Oliver’s skill in friendly matches as well as his obvious talent that was noticed during flying class. We’ll see today how his smaller size, natural talent, and the Slytherin captain’s practice matches help Oliver against Ravenclaw’s seeker, Daisy Merriman. She joined the team in the same way as Oliver, but that was four years ago, giving her an edge on experience!
Michael’s heart fluttered just saying the Ravenclaw seeker’s name, thoughts of her nearly white hair and hazel eyes distracting him for a moment, before movement down on the field brought him back to the present. “And now, what you’ve all been waiting for, here come your defending champs, Slytherin!” He smiled as he watched the green-robed players take off, doing a lap around the stadium before hovering in formation in the middle of the pitch. There were cheers filling the air from the sea of green on the opposite side of the stadium, the side nearest Michael booing and yelling at the opposing team. “And coming in, hopeful to take the trophy back this year, Ravenclaw!”
The team did a lap, hovering by the blue section of stands, waving at everyone who was cheering for them. As they moved towards the center of the pitch, Merriman flew by the announcer’s stand, giving Michael and smile and a thumbs up before the sixth year seeker flew off to join her team for the tip off. “Alright everyone, the match is ready to start, Coach Fritz is here as always to referee today’s match and release the balls. First out, the snitch! Next up, the bludgers, firsties, keep an eye out for those and be ready to duck if they take a turn towards the stands before a beater can get to them! And now here comes the Coach up to join the teams with the Quaffle!”
Michael grinned, the stadium going silent as their flying coach rose into the air, holding the quaffle aloft. He gripped his whistle between his teeth, looking between the two chasers on either side of them before tossing the quaffle into the air, blowing his whistle and flying out of the way. “And Ravenclaw tips off the ball, their captain immediately passing the quaffle to Scamander, and he’s off, dipping below the line of Slytherin chasers, making a b-line for the goal posts as his teammates trail behind him. The keeper is lining up, ready to block a shot and Scamander is drifting past him! Putting that braking charm on his Comet to good use as he prepares to throw the quaffle into the goal...And Scamander fakes out Morris, making the keeper block the wrong hoop and scores ten points for Ravenclaw! That’s a strong start to the match, let’s see how the Slytherin team responds as their keeper retrieves the quaffle and passes it off to his teammates.”
The match continued on for another two hours, Michael’s bright green eyes tracking the movements of the blurs of blue and green flying around the pitch, commentating on every move and strategy both teams employed. “Alright folks, it’s anyone’s game at this point, Ravenclaw 110 to Slytherin 80. Scamander has the quaffle yet again, but Slytherin have clearly decided he’s the one to watch, two of their chasers are pinning him between them, think we’re gonna see a pincer here. And yes, here comes the third Slytherin chaser barreling towards Scamander as he tries to shake the two chasers pinning him in, but, oh! Perfect hit from one of the Johnson twins, spinning the Davies’ broom out of control and allowing the Ravenclaw chaser to finally shake the Slytherins and quickly passing the quaffle over to his captain! And she scores, bringing Ravenclaw up to 120 points! Slytherin’s only hope here is to catch the snitch to bring them victory. And speaking of the snitch I think Merriman may be on it! Oliver is following right behind her, putting on some extra speed, and oh! Great Wronski Feint from Merriman there...wait...no, she seems to actually have eyes on the snitch now, let’s see if Oliver can pull it together from overshooting that dive...he’s on is way back up at a steeper incline than Merriman, but not fast enough! Ravenclaw has the snitch, beating Slytherin by nearly 200 points, 270 to 80, better luck next match guys!
That was absolutely phenomenal to watch and I hope you all enjoyed! I’m sure the Gryffindor and Hufflepuff teams all have a bunch of notes taken for when they face off with these two houses later in the season, but for now, we will see you all back here in two weeks for the Gryffindor-Hufflepuff match! And my fellow Ravenclaws, I’ll meet up with you guys in the common room in a few minutes for the celebration of today’s win!”
Michael was beaming as he held up his wand and murmured “Quietus” after his last statement, allowing his voice to return to its normal tone and turning to face his head of house. The professor nodded at him, trying to contain his own glee at the house’s victory. Michael made his way down from the announcer’s stand, and met Luke, Ashton, and Calum outside of the stadium, all three of his friends beaming at him, giving him high fives and hugs, Ashton opting to ruffle his hair before he led the way up to Ravenclaw tower.
Michael easily answered the raven’s riddle when he arrived at the entrance to the common room, the statue clearly affected by the number of students coming into the tower and the day’s win. The other three boys followed behind him and they took the steps two at a time to join the victory party. One of the seventh years stopped Michael at the top of the stairs, “Great job on your first match commentating, Clifford.” Michael grinned, murmuring a thanks as he was handed a goblet of Firewhiskey, “Welcome to fifth year as well.” The same older student said with a wink, handing Luke and Calum their own glasses of the drink as well.
“Thanks, Orion.” Michael said, leading the way further into the common room as Ashton accepted the firewhiskey too.
A mix of muggle and wizard music filled the room as they all stood around, people talking, dancing and awaiting the arrival of the victorious quidditch team. About twenty minutes after Michael had come in his glass was nearly empty and he was considering just going back to the familiar flavor of butterbeer when the common room erupted in cheers. Michael craned his head to peer through the crowd towards the stairs. He spotted the quidditch captain, holding her hand up as the rest of the team followed behind her, some of the older team members accepting their drinks from Orion as she climbed up onto one of the tables to address the room.
Michael barely heard her speech about winning and plans for taking back the quidditch cup, his green eyes searching for Daisy, heart fluttering when she glanced in his direction.
Soon she disappeared among a crowd of well wishers and Michael sighed, leaning back against the couch. “Give her an hour, I’m sure she’s gonna come talk to you.” Ashton said, catching onto the fifth year’s mood. “Specially with the way she looked at you before the start of the match.” He added teasingly and Michael groaned, shoving the seventh year off of his perch on the arm of the couch.
Ashton scrambled, giggling as he got to his feet. Michael finished off his firewhiskey, rising to his feet, placing the empty cup on the tray on the coffee table and walking over to one of the barrels of butterbeer, pouring himself a glass when someone tapped his shoulder. He turned, grinning when he recognized Daisy, even though the metamorphmagus had altered her appearance to sneak through the rest of the party. She made her own glass of butterbeer before taking his hand, pulling him up to their favorite study nook. They passed the couch where Michael had left his friends, both Ashton and Luke shooting him a thumbs up when they spotted him and Daisy hand in hand. Michael’s face turned pink but he kept his head down as the pair made their way up the stairs.
They both sat down at the table that was situated above one of the bookshelves on the lower floor, encased by more bookcases, providing them a quiet space from the party going on below. Daisy’s facial features shifted to her usual look, her hair remaining a sky blue from her excitement. “You did a great job commentating on the match today,” Daisy said, “just like I knew you would.”
Michael blushed slightly, “You’re just saying that.”
She shook her head, “Don’t think I would’ve convinced Ashton to go with me to Fitz to nominate you for the open position if I was just saying it.”
Michael’s eyes went wide, staring at Daisy in shock. She smiled, scooting closer to him, her hand resting on his knee, a show of gentle affection that they’d been working through since the end of last term. “Don’t tell your buddies down there this, since they’re on their own quidditch teams, but I was actually pulling a feint. Slytherin’s seeker actually spotted the snitch first, but he just got that Firebolt this morning at breakfast, saw the owls bring it in myself. He didn’t even take it for a practice spin before the match, so he was adjusting to it from the school’s Cleansweeps on the fly, that’s why he wasn’t able to pull out of the dive before me.”
Michael grinned, nudging her knee with his, “Still believe you could’ve beat him to it.”
Daisy snorted, shaking her head and grabbing her mug of butterbeer. They both sat there chatting for a while longer, scooting closer and closer, until Calum appeared around the corner. He was the only one of the boys who knew about this little nook, Michael having allowed him up on some non-party days that he snuck him into the tower on, both for studying and for a breakdown or two, especially the big one he had before he and Daisy started talking. The dark haired Hufflepuff smiled at the pair before saying “Team needs you Daisy, school newspaper stuff.”
The seeker gave Michael an apologetic smile as she got up from her seat. Michael rose to his feet too, leaning forward and placing a shy kiss to her cheek. His own cheeks flamed as he pulled away, hiding his face before he felt Daisy take his hand in hers, “You missed,” she said softly, her other hand tilting his chin up before she gave him a gentle kiss.
He melted into her touch, responding gently before pulling away. “Go talk to the newspaper, I’ll be up here when you’re free.”
She smiled, giving him one quick peck before walking off, Calum giving him an approving smile, taking her spot at the table once she was out of sight. “Today’s the best ever.” Michael said, sure of himself as he sunk back into his seat next to his best friend.
“I’m sure it has been.” Calum said, holding his best friend in a tight side hug, “Think this is going to be you two’s year.”
Michael grinned, looking at Calum as he said, “You know, I really think that it is.” He took another swig of his butterbeer as the two friends sat in the quiet nook for the rest of the party.

Serves 12-16 persons This Recipe is intended for young people a/o teenagers who want to prepare something special for their Mother, so it is written w/simple short phrases. *NOTE: Not suitable for small kids because it involves baking in the oven!
As Mother's Day is approaching, I thought a befitting dessert to celebrate it is the Marble Cake i.e. a cake with components all intertwined, just like every mom and her life 😍!! Info: The idea of marbling two different colored batters into a cake originated in 19th cent. Germany and made its way to America with German immigrants before the Civil War. It remained popular throughout the 19th & 20th centuries. After World War II, an influx of German-Jewish bakers spread awareness of marble cake and other German-style cakes and pastries. An all-time classic that became favorite also in Greece-served proudly to a guest with coffee or tea. Suitable for lacto-ovo vegetarians.
Ingredients: 250 gr. / 9 oz Butter or Margarine 350 gr. / 12 oz / 1.5 cups Sugar 270 gr. / 9.5 oz / 2.15 cups Self-rising Flour 4 Eggs at room temp. 200 ml. or almost 1 cup Fresh milk 8 gr. or 2 tsp. Vanilla Sugar essence 1 tsp. Baking powder 30 gr. / 1 oz Cocoa powder Optional: Icing sugar (or 150 gr. / 5.5 oz melted dark chocolate) A round 26cm/10in cake tin (opening on the side) Alternatively: Bundt cake Tin 22cm/8.6in (for a thicker cake)
Tumblr media
Method: Using hand mixer, beat the butter for a couple minutes. Then gradually add the sugar and vanilla essence. Beat the mix for 5' until it becomes white and fluffy. Crack the 4 eggs in a bowl. Add the eggs one by one in the mix. Gradually add the flour in the batter, mixing just a bit to incorporate it. Add the milk. Lastly, add the baking powder. Butter with an oil spray a 10-inch/26-cm cake tin (bottom and sides) and dust with a bit of flour. Pour 4/5 of batter into the cake tin. For the 1/5 of batter, add cocoa powder and mix well. With a spatula, place the cocoa batter on top of the cake in dollops. Use a fork to make swirls on top and by dipping it inside the cake.
Tumblr media
Bake in a preheated oven-top and bottom heating elements on @180℃/350℉, for 45'-50'. Tip: Don't open the oven before 30'of baking, as this will result your cake to deflate. After about 45', test if the cake is ready: insert a knife; it should come out clean. When cake is ready, leave it on a rack to cool completely! Then decorate it in a nice serving platter! You now have the following options: 1. You can sprinkle icing sugar on top (when it has cooled down completely!!)
Tumblr media
2. You can bake the cake on a Bundt 22 cm tin (to get thicker cake pieces) and sprinkle icing sugar on top.
Tumblr media
3. You can pour melted dark chocolate on top!
Tumblr media
WOW! What a delicious cake! Dedicated to Mom! I bet she'll be thrilled 💖!! Tip: On Mother's Day place the cake next to a nice bouquet of flowers!

Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
2. Μπορείτε να ψήσετε το κέικ σε ταψί Bundt 22 cm (για να έχετε παχύτερα κομμάτια κέικ) και να πασπαλίσετε ζάχαρη άχνη στην κορυφή.
Tumblr media
3. Μπορείτε να ρίξετε λιωμένη σκούρα σοκολάτα στην κορυφή!
Tumblr media

Gadsby’s Tavern Museum: Drink and Dine and Be a Part of History
Gadsby’s Tavern Museum is a historical attraction in Alexandria, Virginia. It began its operation as a tavern in 1785 and an annexed building was made into a hotel in 1792. The commercial area was a hotspot for prominent customers such as John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and James Monroe. The tavern was truly a central part of the city during those times that even George Washington celebrated his birthday there.
Gadsby’s Tavern History
The tavern had its early beginnings with entrepreneur John Wise. This was then immediately followed by John Gadsby who operated the tavern from 1796 to 1808. The Englishman was known for his lively personality and he made it a point to invite important people at every chance.
Why Do People In The Old Days Visit a Tavern?
Before there were conference rooms and coffee shops, there were taverns. It was the community center during its time. A resident or traveler doesn’t only go to a tavern to eat and drink but to know the news of the day. If you want to know about the local politics during the 18th-century era, you visit a tavern. You can even ask the owner to have your own private space. You can now discuss with your affiliates about the events of the day or the state of the country while having a special meal. Imagine being in a boisterous room filled with rum and tobacco wherein everyone is talking about the Constitution? Isn’t this surreal? As you looked inside Gadsby’s Tavern Museum, think about these spaces and the important conversations that the Founding Fathers had here. Think about what they talked about. Think about the issues that they might have discussed. Can you visualize yourself being back in such a time?
Gadsby’s Tavern Museum Present-Day
As years followed the building lost its radiance and by the early 20th century it was almost demolished. Thankfully, it was saved and renovated by the American Legion. Now a museum to eating and drinking, all the rooms have been restored to their old appearances. You’ll immediately be transported to what it was like to dine and be pampered in Colonial America. On one side of the property is a museum while a period-themed restaurant is on the other. Nowadays, you can only use the upstairs ballrooms and boarding rooms for special occasions.
Are there still events being held at Gadsby’s Tavern Museum
As mentioned, there are spaces for rent at Gadsby’s Tavern Museum. Wouldn’t it be quite wonderful to celebrate a wedding reception here? It’s like you're celebrating in the same room as with the Founding Fathers. Their corporate staff is more than helpful to finalize the arrangements. In need of giveaways? They’ll help you with that.
By the way, you need to give them a call or visit them online as Gadsby’s Tavern Museum’s schedule varies in certain months.

Thankuuuu!! Oml as soon as I checked which prompt this was I started getting ideas!
Prompt is: Writing little notes on post-its and leaving them in random places to read.
270 follower celebration og post
Warnings: none. Echo being a cute lil shit from across the galaxy. Reader works at Cid’s tavern
Flimsi love notes (Tbb!Echo x Reader)
The first one you found was in your apron. His Aurabesh might have been a little screwed since his left hand wasn’t his dominant, but you could read Echo’s handwriting anywhere.
“If you’re reading this I’m probably thinking of you cyare. Love you and be safe. I’ll be back soon.”
Ever since the Bad Batch had stumbled into Cid’s tavern, you’d had your eye on him. To this day he couldn’t understand why out of every member of the batch you chose him, but hey. He couldn’t complain.
There would always be one where he knew you’d see it every time he was away. Sometimes they would be tucked behind the mirror in your ‘fresher, other times in your bag, or under your pillow where he knew you’d slide your hand before you went to sleep.
Cid’s growl came from across the room.
“Hey laser brain! Bar needs to be cleaned off. There’s another note over here for ya. You kriffing lovebirds are going to be the death of me.”
You sighed and picked up the washrag, only stopping to take a peek at the aforementioned note.
“How’s my Mesh’la doing today, huh? Call me later tonight.”
Maker, this man might not be perfect, but he was certainly trying. You finished your shift at the bar and walked home, anticipating to hear his voice after a long day. You dropped your bag at the door and flopped down on the bed, pulling out your comm.
“Mesh’la?” He answered. You smiled at the warmth in his voice.
“I got your note, Echo. You are the sweetest.”
He laughed, voice low and raspy. “I try my best. How was your day?”
“Long and boring. I’m about ready to quit and demand that Hunter let me join you guys.”
“That wouldn’t be a bad idea, but some training would be needed.”
“Well lucky me I’ve got one of the best ARC troopers for a boyfriend.”
“I’m the only ARC trooper you know, Mesh’la.”
“And you’re the best in my book.”
“Can you do something for me really quick?”
Your eyebrows scrunched. “Sure?”
“Unlock your door.”
You didn’t move. “What?”
“Unlock the door!”
Something clicked in your head and you scrambled off of the bed to your front door. Throwing it open, you practically burst with happiness when you saw him.
“ECHO!” You screeched, throwing yourself into his arms. He laughed lightly. “We got done early. Figured you could use another surprise to keep you on your toes.”
“I’ve come to expect anything and everything from you, Echo.” You mumbled into his shoulder. “Just never know what’s next.”
He pressed a kiss to your temple and nuzzled his nose in your hair.
“Love you Mesh’la. So much.”
You tighten your arms around him. “Love you too, Echo. Even more.”

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BIG BROTHER!
Tumblr media
~The Format That Changed TV Forever In India And Across The Globe Turns 20!~
Mumbai, 16th September 2019: Big Brother, (aka Bigg Boss in India) - the original reality format - celebrates its landmark 20th birthday today.  On the 16th September 1999, nine Housemates moved in a purpose-built house in the Netherlands, equipped with 24 cameras and no contact with the outside world to be watched 24/ 7 by Big Brother. A cultural phenomenon was born, and the TV revolution aired its first ever episode that night on Dutch Broadcaster Veronica, part of RTL.
Since its launch, Big Brother has taken the world by storm, with 471 series of 28,391 episodes commissioned in 60 markets and airing pan regionally in 80 since its launch. 7,153 housemates from around the globe have spent 35, 143 days in the house and there have been 5, 035 evictions.
Twenty years since its worldwide debut, Big Brother is enjoying one of its best years yet and is constantly being renewed internationally with 22 productions in 18 markets confirmed to air in 2019.
In India Bigg Boss has conquered audiences, in Hindi, Kannada, Bangla, Telugu, Marathi, Tamil and Malayalam. With 30 seasons under its belt Globally Endemol Shine India is the only one in history of the franchise who has produced the Big Brother format (Bigg Boss) in multiple languages for different broadcasters. Bigg Boss has now been produced in India in 7 languages and today produces more than 600 episodes in a 365-day calendar year.
With huge stars such as Salman Khan, Kamala Hassan, Nagarjuna, Mohanlal, Mahesh Manjrekar and Sudeep as hosts, an interesting mix of contestants and an amazing creative and production team, the show continues to garner huge TRPs and driving in viewers every season.
Talking about the completion of 20 years of Big Brother globally, Abhishek Rege, CEO, Endemol Shine India said, “Big Brother is undoubtedly the most popular non-scripted show across the globe entertaining viewers from all strata of society. In India too, the show has been well received and has garnered a huge fan following.  The ongoing appreciation for the franchise across the globe and in India, no matter the language, is testament to the effort of the creative and production teams at Endemol Shine globally and our understanding of geographies and of local audiences.”
Engaging audiences with interactivity
Big Brother is more interactive and immersive than ever, whether it be viewer polls, making decisions for tasks or else the weekly evictions which are the bedrock of many global schedules. Big Brother stands out in the way it engages the audience to be part of the show, and earlier this year saw 202 million votes cast in Brazil in a single eviction.
Innovating with technology
Big Brother has always thrived on changes in the tech and TV landscape and fans have more access to the show’s content than ever before, whether it be watching episodes on YouTube in Spain where the series had a dual strategy to produce the programme for linear and online or streaming on a broadcaster’s SVOD or AVOD platform in markets like the US, Canada and Finland.
The show is innovating with tech within productions too. Big Brother Poland was the first version of the reality hit to be filmed in a real-life existing house. This has been followed by the recent relaunch in Finland, where the house was located in the heart of Helsinki in REDI shopping mall.  These new types of productions are only possible because of advanced technology and state of the art cameras which allow the show to be produced in innovative ways. It also furthers the creative freedom for the producers with fully connected houses enabling access to rooms to be limited or to give housemates certain privileges such as access to the fridge or even the coffee machine. Existing locations also have created a truly authentic environment for relationships to develop.
Sustainability
And the format is rolling our green initiatives too, in Germany the production team of VIP series saved an estimated 12,000 coffee cups after switching to reusable bamboo cups and all groceries for the House were sourced locally.
In Finland, the new house will be made with recycled materials and with water scarcity a significant issue in India, the production has installed waste water recycling, as well as placing water restrictions for housemates and one of the regional versions even features an empty swimming pool to make a point about the limits.
None of us know what the next twenty years will bring, but one thing for sure, the world is watching.

On The Move
Being a freelancer / working from home, you’d think I’m just on my computer in my pajamas all day, right? Well, you’re not totally wrong BUT it does give me the flexibility to be out and about (which I am quite often). Whether I’m running errands, heading to a meeting, or going out for the night, there’s a 90% chance I’ll be in sneakers (and as of late, the Nike Air Max 270s).
There’s also an 85% chance I’ll be in some other Nike gear as I have fully adopted Athleisure. It’s not a trend..it’s actually my life. If you’ve been following me since the beginning (or at least for a while now) I’m sure you’ve seen how much my style has changed. I almost always wore heels, I wouldn’t be caught dead in athletic clothes outside the gym…and look at me now!
I’m grateful for brands like Nike making athletic clothes actually stylish, so I can be super comfortable, look cute, go to the gym, not go to the gym…wherever life takes me, it’s now taking me in my 270s 😊
With Air Max Day coming up (3/26!) I wanted to share a sort of day in the life / some of my favorite spots around Chicago wearing my new favorite kicks.
Nike took a little bit of DNA from multiple iconic Air Max silhouettes and remixed them to make the 270 pop in a modern and fun way. Pulling from the Air Max 180 and Air Max 93 specifically, these are the first Air Max’s that are strictly lifestyle (meaning not meant to be worked out in, but still designed with performance in mind…I’ve already walked miles in mine). And with the heel being its highest ever, it wouldn’t make much sense to run a marathon in them anyway (but with how comfortable these are, I may just consider it!) It’s funny that I absolutely hated that wedge sneaker trend a while back (sorry Isabel Marant), yet I can’t get enough of the 270s. Leave it to Nike to make a sneaker with height look badass.
I spend most days in a leggings + sweatshirt + sneakers combo. If I’m not at home during the day, I’m typically running errands, walking my dogs and / or working out. I’ve learned to really value wellness and self-care as of late (it takes more than just exercising a few days a week!) I enjoy meditating or trying a new “healthy activity.” My current fave (as you know from Winter Vibes) is Aire (pun not intended 😄). I WISH being submerged in those pools was something I did on the daily but it’s something I love and brings me a whole new level of relaxation. It’s important to unwind every once in a while and this is the perfect place to do it.
I couldn’t help but include a little Jim Bachor in here. He’s known for his “pothole art” (who knew a pothole could be so…ramen?) The fact that he has a piece in the Nike store on Michigan Avenue and I just can’t help but smile (and take a shoefie) every time I see one of his mosaics…this just had to happen.
Once I get out of my leggings, I’ll likely just switch to jeans (still in a  sweatshirt though…always 😝). I often take meetings at coffee shops and although I’d more likely be at Caffe Streets, I do love Metric roasters on Fulton (same owners, same great coffee!)
I am a coffee snob and I’m not going to apologize for it. BUT both locations do a mean iced matcha latte with oat milk. I never order milky drinks (whether it’s dairy or non-dairy milk — I just prefer coffee and tea straight up) but this is one of my very few exceptions. It’s a nice little tasty caffeinated treat!
Same outfit. Different outing. I’m not messing around when I say I live in a versatile wardrobe — because I’m taking this exact outfit to get my groove on.
I love seeing live music (Concord, Metro, Lincoln Hall, you name it) and the last few shows I’ve been to, I’ve worn this exact outfit (minus the jacket…needed a heavier coat IRL, unfortunately). Let me tell you from experience…the 270s make a great dancing shoe 💃.
This last look was a little different for me. I’m always in jeans or leggings — a sneaker’s best friend. When I wear culottes, however, I usually go for loafers or heels. So I decided that I’m no longer going to wear anything unless I can wear my 270s with it (and I do love these pants) so I made them happen with a leather jacket, bodysuit and of course, some Air Max’s.
I have to say, I’m pretty happy with the results (if I do say so myself). The JC Rivera definitely doesn’t hurt the situation either!
But of course the day isn’t over without some EATS.
Lonesome Rose is my new favorite spot (brunch, drinks, dinner, chill, repeat). It’s super cute on the inside and the food is awesome. The tacos, the corn, the nachos, the queso, the cocktails (!!) Let’s just say I could use a leisurely stroll in my 270s every time I leave there (which I will surely do come summer!)
And there you have it –a few of my favorite things in Chicago wearing one of my favorite brands. You can say it’s a good day!
Which color combo is your favorite? I’ve been wearing the black and pink the most but they’re all so damn good. There’s a ton more on Nike.com (for both men and women…these really look good on everyone!) so get your self a pair just in time for the global celebration of Air Max Day on March 26!
And heads up…starting Thursday (3/22) Nike Chicago will drop all new Air Max 270 styles, as well as Pogo (a dope new boutique in Lincoln Park, also seen here) and the NordstromxNike boutique. So, next time I see you, I hope to see you in some 270s!
Also let me know if it’s insane to own one shoe in four colors because these just might have to happen too (maybe five because these… #sendhelp #sendnike).

<–Previous || First || Next–>
Ao3
“uh...what’s all this, tori?”
She turned her face from the sink and giggled at the stunned expression on Sans’ face. His gaze washed over the bowls of spices scattered around the kitchen. Garlic powder, onion powder, mustard powder, celery salt, pepper, cloves, vinegar and sugar; all laid out and ready to be mixed.
The skeleton rubbed his eye sockets. He blinked, then tilted his skull at her, no doubt trying to figure out what recipe all these ingredients had in common...or, knowing him, wondering when the food would be ready. Sans was not known for his abilities as a chef.
She nodded at the apron hanging off the dining room chair and turned back to her work. Peeling tomatoes, while not the most arduous task, certainly involved a lot of squish.
“Gorey got called into work unexpectedly, and since it seemed we would have the day all to ourselves, I thought it would be an excellent time to try out this recipe. One of Roger’s fathers from the PTA recommended it to me. He said it was the greatest homemade ketchup sauce he’d ever had the honor to taste.”
“terrance said that?”
She nodded, hearing the rustling of cloth as he wrestled with the apron, “Indeed. Such high praise comes once in a thousand years.”
“yup. don’t think i’ve ever met anyone, monster or human, with such a powder-ful sense of taste.”
She chortled, “I rather think you have hit the nose on the onion.”
Dead silence. The monster behind her radiated confusion. She was beginning to pick up on his magic more and more of the time. The way he hid it almost reminded her of something...she would have to think about that later.
Without looking back, she gestured at the bowl of onion powder. A few seconds later, Sans’ sneezed.
It was an adorable sneeze. It was a cute sneeze. It was a small sneeze trapped in a large skull. It was a high-pitched, diminutive little button of a sneeze. It made her want to coo.
Toriel set the last, peeled tomato down into the tureen with the slightest splat. She rinsed her hands in the icy water, switched it off, and dried them on the hand towel. Then she spun, leapt, and hugged.
Sans’ right arm, lifted to wipe at his nasal cavity, was trapped between his skull and her bosom. She nuzzled into him, cooing and rumbling and generally making herself look like a fool. But honestly, who could resist a sneeze like that?
Asgore sat at his desk in the embassy. The rhythmic clack clack clack of typing melded nicely with the bubbling of the coffee machine. Monsters and humans of all sizes and descriptions chatted merrily. Their last big bill had come through on Friday, so today was a little bit of a celebration. At the very least, none of the paperwork on his desk was needed signed immediately.
In fact, the notebook in front of him had nothing to do with Monster-Human relations. It was brand new, a little blue spiral-bound with daisies in the margins. Undyne had gotten it for him to plan his gardens in. Instead, it was being used to plan an investigation. The investigation into the childhood of a certain small skeleton.
He had started out with the basic facts. He knew Sans’ brother was Papyrus. As far as family members went, that was all he could remember. He knew there were quite a few skeleton families who’d been living in the Capitol, so perhaps calling some of them would be a good way to start? Then again, he needed a better description of the two if he was going to be asking questions.
Let’s see; he knew Sans had graduated from the high school in Snowdin. That meant they probably had relatives or family friends they’d stayed with out there. He’d have to ask Grillby. The old flame had been living and working their for as long as the town had existed. Asgore recalled Sans’ fondness for the new Grillby’s, and made that phone call a top priority.
Sans’ birthday was...he flipped through the calender with growing confusion. He sent a text to Tori, and she came up with the same result - nothing. Neither of them had any idea when Sans’ birthday could be. Or Papyrus’, for that matter. He made a note to ask Sans why they hadn’t celebrated the skeleton brothers’ birthdays since they had come to the Surface. Of course, it had not been a full year, so perhaps their birthdays had not arrived yet. That seemed more likely.
How old were they? Papyrus had been trying to be in the Royal Guard in the Underground. Skeletons aged at a rate of about 15 years to every human one, so the youngest age he would have been able to join was - Asgore opened a drawer and retrieved a calculator - 270. Sans seemed quite a bit older than his brother, so logically he was more than 330.
Logically only got him so far when faced with the real possibility that one or both of them had been neglected emotionally, if not in other ways. If not worse.
He shook his head and turned to a new page. Thinking about what could be would get him nowhere. What he needed was a place to start. He wrote down a list of names, people who might have a few more leads than he did. It read as follows:
Grillby (Snowdin?) Undyne (Sentries - age, birthdays, and medical history?) Skeleton Families (Parents? Lost/orphaned/runaways?) Gerson (had to get to snowdin somehow - memories?)
Well, he knew where he was going to start. Gerson was standing not ten feet away, chatting with one of Aaron’s cousins and no thirsty enough for a nice cup of tea.
Toriel helped Sans settle in the back seat, securing his seat belt before closing the door and settling into the front seat. It was a mild nuisance, these weight laws. Sans was a fully grown adult, and with only the two of them in the car, why should he not sit up front where he could see? But rules were rules, and they must follow them, or where would they be?
She finished adjusting the rearview mirror and reached for the radio. She went to turn the dial., then reconsidered.
“Sans, I do not believe I have ever enquired as to your favorite music. What shall it be?”
“oh, you know me, tori. anything’s good.”
She turned and gave him The Look. His eye lights shrunk to pinpricks, and his right hand dug up a ragged thread from the bandage on his left.
“Sans the Skeleton, I would be remiss in my duties as a datefriend if I could not name your favorite music off the top of my head. So please, tell me.”
He sighed, “really, tori. i’m okay with anything, as long as it has a beat,” The look didn’t quell, and he reluctantly added, “i ain’t that driven when it comes to music while you drive. druther hear it live, or at least be able to play. don’t treble about me, i can listen to bass-ically anything and be okay.”
She cocked her head, “What do you play?”
He shrugged, snapping the thread, “trom-bone.”
She snorted, “I should have expected that, should I note? You shall have to play for us sometime.”
His eye lights shifted beneath hers.
“no.”
Her brow furrowed, “I am sorry?”
“no, tori. i can’t.”
She reached for her seatbelt, ready to cuddle him again. He waved his hand.
“it’s not that i think i’m bad or anything! i just...i didn’t realise how much that car of pap’s was gonna cost. it was an old thing, carved ‘special for some human and everything. they offered a lot, and it’s not like i got much use outta the thing, anyway, so…”
His voice trailed away. She searched his skull, and saw the emotion there. No musician was happy to part with their instrument. Despite what he said, Sans missed being able to play. She scrapped her plans of taking him to a comedy skit and readied her GPS for a new course.
“Which shop is it in?”
He looked up at her with dejection, “tori, i sold it months ago. there’s no way it’s still there.”
She grinned at him, “Then we shall have to track it down, will we not?”
In the depths of his eyes, she saw the glimmer of starlight, “really?”
She nodded vigorously, “Really.”
“Skeleton kids? Funny you should mention that. I was just talking to Aarvy over there about one of the more water locked rooms in Waterfall. He’s got a friend back in the Underground who thought it looked like a nice place to move in. She found an odd message in the echo flower there, something about too much responsibility. And some kind of pastry thing tucked under the seat, too.”
Asgore poured his longtime friend and former Captain another cup of tea. He knew Gerson could go on in one of his stories for ages, but sooner or later he always reached the core of the things. All Asgore had to do was be patient and keep the turtles cup filled with tea.
“It made me think of a pair of younguns, oh, more than a hundred, hundred fifty years ago now. Thought they were twins, but I could be wrong. One of them was having a hard time walking. Kept trying to lead the other away, even if they kept tripping over their own feet. Thought about asking them to let me call their families, but the healthier of the two picked up the other and scurried away before I could get out my front door. Didn’t see them again, so I figured they’d found a home somewhere, wah ha ha!”
Asgore set his own cup down thoughtfully.
“And you believe these two could have been skeletons?”
Gerson winked, “Had to be. Had some ratty cloaks on, of course, but I remember seeing bone, and there’s nothing quite as white as a skeleton’s bones. Rattling, too, now I come to think of it. Scared little things, to be rattling like that. Wonder what made them fret that way? Speaking of fret, old Mettaclunk or whatever his name is hired this new human to back up his songs. I’ve got to say...”
Asgore let the conversation drift onto other things, letting the image Gerson had just set in his mind simmer to be worried over another day.
Toriel ducked under the lintel of the thirteenth musical instrument store they had visited that day. Sans had been right that his trombone would not longer be in the same store.
Unfortunately, instead of being sold to a new owner who could possibly be persuaded to part with it, the store itself had gone out of business. Its stock had be auctioned off to every other music store in the area.
The auction house in question had lost their records in a fire, so all the pair had been able to learn was that the instrument was probably in another store, unless it had been sold off from there.
So far, none of the stores they had visited had seen the trombone, or any trombone in the last three months. Apparently trombones were not as much of a high-turnover instrument in this city as the violin or guitar.
“Danny’s Music Supply, what can I do ya for?”
The longest haired human she had ever seen ambled up from behind a standing bass. The smell of brass polish hit her in a wave. She blinked back tears and fought back the urge to gag.
Sans stepped up from behind her, weariness in his gait but a glint in his sockets.
“hey, you wouldn’t have seen a trombone in here lately, would you? bach 42b, orange tint, worn out engraving on the bell and slide? would have come from pearson and lash.”
The cashier whistled. They weren’t the first. Sans hadn’t known, but the trombone he’d picked up out of a battered case in the Garbage Dump was rather expensive in the human’s market. The shop he’d sold it to had undercut the lowest going price by half.
“That piece be a thing of beauty, no doubt about it. got me mighty curious how old pearson and lash got their mits on it. them boys had the lowest end market of the entire beat. take it they swindled you out of the true cash?”
Sans pulled his right hand out his pocket and passed over the receipt. The man whistled again.
“Yep, that what it be. Hate to tell you, but you got fleeced. That darling’s going for a thousand, easy. Not that I’d put a price tag on a glory like that. Come on back, I was just given her a shine. Bet she’ll be happy as can be to see a familiar face.”
Her eyes bulged, and she felt the stir of Sans’ magic do the same.
“she’s actually here?”
The man had a smile to rival Sans’ own.
“Yes indeedy. Got a feeling the minute I saw her. I said to me, ‘That be a thing of beauty. Ain’t no way she went to them boys under an honest word. Her owner’ll be coming back, right as rain,’ and you know what? There’s nothing I like more to see than an instrument and their musician back in proper arms. Not much money in it, but the smiles I get are worth more than the Crown Jewels. I said, ‘I’m gonna take this lady and keep her safe, ‘cause I know t’won’t be long till that smile’ll be shining in front of me,’ And look at that - here you be.”
She let the tears fall freely now. Here was a SOUL as kind as any she had ever seen. If there were any music shop in the world she would want an instrument to make a stay in, this was it.
Sans, in front of her, sniffed. She felt his magic fight to hold back tears. It made her pause. Humans, it seemed, had something of a stigma against open weeping. Monsterkind had no such idea, and so the practiced way in which the small skeleton hid away his emotions felt...weird. It was not out of keeping with the quietness of presence she had come to know, but it was entirely out of keeping with their culture as a whole.
As Sans followed the shopkeeper back behind the counter, she pulled out her phone and sent a message to Asgore. Yet another piece in the puzzle of their skeleton’s past.
