Families are spending valuable time and money on booking pumpkin patches to try to get that family day out and take that annual photo for Facebook & Instagram!
We stumbled on this absolute hidden gem, where there is no pumpkin patch, but there is plenty to do and so many photo ops!
Located a stone's throw from Ashbourne, Co. Meath - just outside of Dublin - Newbarn Farm has something for everyone in the family.
The Donkey Shed Restaurant is open 7 days a week, offering farm-to-fork dishes for both adults and children, as well as amazing coffee and treats for the whole family.
Newbarn Farm Shop provides homegrown vegetables, as well as locally sourced products, just like a small farmer's market.
The open farm is available to all customers, whether you sit down for a meal, grab a takeaway coffee or hot chocolate, or simply buy carrots to feed the donkeys, goats, pigs or sheep!
Most importantly, they have a huge variety of pumpkins for Spooky Season - all grown on their very own farm!
They even have a deal on in Newbarn Farm Shop - spend €25 and get a FREE pumpkin!
And last, but not least, Newbarn Farm know the struggle of locating and booking pumpkin patches... So, although they don't have a pumpkin patch, they offer something spooky for a family photo op - The Spook Booth!
There are plenty of blackboards with quotes, masks galore, and some gruesome guests to take photos with!

Continuing the mission of Make Cold Times Bearable For Me:
-I've started to experiment with layering different shirts underneath certain dresses to make them more feasible for later in the season. I'm aiming for somewhere between "cute pinafore" and "ren faire fit" but I'm kinda landing closer to "dirndl" for some of them
-I found some merino wool shirts on REI in my size AND on sale for like $20, so I ordered a couple to try and have some more layering pieces
-I ordered some cute green trousers on depop, which won't get here until tomorrow so we'll see if I made a huge miscalculation by getting a petite length. I'm thinking that maybe trousers will feel more "put together" than leggings
-I do think I'm going to look into making or buying a very warm underskirt/petticoat, because there are a few dresses that could be warmed up, but I think they need something more than just leggings and a warm undershirt. You need to remember, my immune system is slowly murdering my thyroid, my metabolism doesn't keep me warm enough with a normal amount of layering
-I got overly annoyed at LL Bean for making a cotton "fisherman's sweater", because the point of a fisherman's sweater is that the type of wool used still has a lot of lanolin in it, which makes it water and mildew resistant; additionally, wool generally stays warm when wet, while cotton doesn't. Like yes the cable knits used have a lot of symbolism and the designs are distinctive, but the symbolism isn't the thing that makes it a good, useful sweater
-I may be salty because the cotton sweaters I got last year or maybe the year before don't keep me very warm
me trying to figure out which of the eleven (11) potential midnights presale times and which shows within each of those sales would be most effective to try for next week

Relistening to 'We sell any monk' and the thing about selling from Dublin (makes sense!) to as far away as Italy (also makes sense!) makes me want to have a very silly little medieval AU. They end up in the Emirate of Sicily - as a bunch, though being sold separately and still ending up in the same place may be even better.
Anyways, Michele lives there and meets the unfortunate souls, whose backstory is "Yeah, no, not monks - " "We're the only sons you see -" "And I never was particularly holy or called to Christ anyways, I just lived around a monastery -" "You've seen that fecker, you expect his sister to be pious? No, no nun either." "Anyways. We're from around Dubh Linn and uh. You know. Thought a raid couldn't hurt." "Oh yeah, that were your words, weren't they!"
This goes on for another five minutes. Especially if Michele introduces himself and someone, in true Irish fashion, is like "Oh, I met someone from Byzantium on my way here. Do you know a Tiffany from Ravenna?"
My cousin who lives twenty minutes from our granny’s house. And lives with his mother. Will not come over for Sunday dinner at my granny’s when I’m staying for the weekend even though my aunt is and so he even has a lift there and back and I’m just??? Dude. We never see each other. Just come for dinner.
