No, Jack Pearson did not die because he went back for the dog. Technically, it was a heart attack brought on by smoke inhalation.
One he would not have had if he hadn't bopped around the house grabbing all the important photos and documents.
I get they needed to explain why they still had childhood photos and videos, but it just pisses me off so much. They could've just said they managed to salvage them somehow or there weren't that many.
It's similar to Derek and Amelia's dad. You have 5 kids. 2 are in the back of the shop. If the robber wants your watch, you give him the damn watch.
Two of the most infuriating, avoidable deaths in TV history.
Dumbass 1 & Dumbass 2. Sure, their kids have childhood photos and a watch...

"An early objection I had with Christianity at school was being told I was part of a flock. Shepherds don't just look after sheep because they like them. They either want to fleece them, fuck them or eat them."
am i the only one who low key wanted Jack and David to be smth more in than friends or ami tripping??? enemies to lovers??? like, there was unresolved tension and it was frustrating tbh
PSA for those who were not already aware. Richard Armitage is an audiobook artist with quite a list of works to his name, but the true gem among his narrations is "Classic Love Poems". Yep--you can listen to that magnificent, chills-inducing baritone literally reciting sweet poetry to you.
I own the audiobook (Audible) which is a collection of 13 poems, and "How Do I Love Thee" is my favorite. I couldn't find a YouTube vid of that however, so here is Richard's take on "The Passionate Shepherd to his Love". Caution: you may need a chair to swoon into.
