Is Wednesday’s fur as soft and dense as it looks? Little guy looks like he’s got a chinchilla texture in your pictures!

YES, it's so plush! and the texture is strange - his black is SUPER intense black, and his white is SUPER intense white, and I have 100% certainty that it's connected to the velvety physical structure

cat coats are so fascinating to me. like Pangur’s fur is so softy and silky, but also slightly ivory-tinged compared to Wednesday’s laser-white

and Grim is plush too, but feels more like a wild animal pelt. like smooth on the surface, and a coat you can disappear your fingers into

Selkie, my sisters cat, feels almost cottony, and slightly crimped. I find it unpleasant, from a sensory standpoint, in the same way rex rabbits make me cringe (too soft!!! don’t like when things are so soft!!)

and then Curie, my mom’s cat, has the WORST fur texture I’ve ever felt on a cat. it’s like dry straw, so rough and chaffing!

He’s way too nervous to try it first. Doesn’t even really think of it, to begin with. It's just a tail to him just another appendage, a bit sensitive, but just a tail. 

But he does find himself looking at yours and finding comfort in how similar they are. Serpentine, long, and maybe a bit clumsy with a mind of its own sometimes. 

But your scales are so pretty, much nicer than his, and it's much bigger too. He often finds himself staring at it and even envious of it as well. The color is just lustrous and his brain and hands are itching to touch it. 

He doesn’t dare try to touch it until you both are in a pact and he’s close to you, figuratively and literally. It can only happen when you two are alone and close up and he can’t stand just looking at it anymore. He’ll blurt out “P-Please let me touch your tail!!!” it leaves you both stunned and he slams his hands over his mouth. 

Should you agree he’s still asking if you are sure, his hands are dirty and you have to remind him you slither on the ground and even then he’s squirming. You damn near have to pull his hands to you. 

He’s feeling every little bit of his tail, the scales, the flesh. He’s just in wonder and awe. But if you touch his? He screams and tries to pull away. Babbling and red-faced saying it’s not fair when it really is. 

He’ll let you touch it but he has to calm down from his panic attack. And he finds your touch soothing. His scales are cold and smooth. Not an imperfection to be found on it, and it even has an ocean-like irradiance. 

Once he gets used to the touch he’ll be much more open to touching with his tail. In quiet moments the thing shakily slides over and wraps around yours and he’s shaking. But he does it more and more every time until his tail just seeks yours out when he’s not even paying attention.    

Belphegor

To him, it’s really just a longer arm. He uses it to shuffle things over since the tip can’t really help him grab stuff. He’s extremely disappointed that he doesn’t have a tail like the others that can grip stuff and pull it over to him. 

He’s not shy about looking at your tail. He’ll often fall onto it and pass out on it. It’s like the cool side of the pillow all the time. It’s his second favorite pillow. And as you're getting closer it’s slowly beating his cow pillow.

He’s not afraid to touch an admire either. After things have calmed down he’s been tracing the patterns as he falls asleep on your tail, and you’ve struggled to move with him on you. 

He also has a habit of when you try to move he curls up more and even wraps his own tail around you, though he’s not aware of it. 

But if you want to touch his tail he’s all smug asking what you’ll do to touch it. Give him something, it can be as simple as getting him a snack when he’s too lazy to get up or you could point out what he’s been doing and he’ll flush and give you the go-ahead. It’s not fair if he gets to touch it all the time right? 

The tip of the tail is soft and plush like chinchilla fur, though the rest of it is coarse almost like sandpaper. 

Once past the first of it, he’ll use his tail to mess with you. Brushing the tip against your nose to make you sneeze. Letting you lay on it, even trying to trip you up. He finds it hilarious. 

But during soft moments when he feels like the time is right, he’ll intertwine his tail with yours softly and slowly rub the tip in circles. Walking home, or looking up at the stars he'll do it anywhere as long as it’s a peaceful moment. Around his brothers? Not a chance.     

Barbatos  

It’s impolite to touch another’s tail. It can be a very intimate part of a creature's body. So he doesn’t even think about it for a while. 

His own tail is smooth and he has total control over it. If he’s going to be in tight quarters he can easily wrap it around himself to keep it from knocking into anything. And when he has his hands full he can use it as an extra hand. With the double tip, it makes maneuvering things so much easier. Balancing plates, or cleaning supplies with it.

It’s only when you’re in a faithful relationship does he even listen to the request of touching his tail. Solomon was the only exception since he was in a pact with him and endlessly curious. 

But if you end up touching it, he’ll ask if he can do the same. The way his hands move is pleasurable and even gives you goosebumps and raises your scales. He knows how to make it feel nice and not uncomfortable. 

He doesn’t like it if you just touch him. If you ask he’ll almost always let you touch it and he passes the same respect to you. That’s what a partnership is after all. And anytime you want him to massage your tail he’s happy to do it. 

He’s pleasantly surprised if you want to do the same, he won't stop you if that’s what you want. It's deeply relaxing though hard to get a good grip because of the bit of slime coating it. But he appreciates the effort.

In the moments you two are alone, he’ll slowly wrap his tail around your own, it’s gently and nearly feather-light until you squeeze back. It seems like he enjoys doing it since he does it every time you both find a moment.

On Fluff, Teratomas, and Spring Misery.

So Rook, of course, is an eldritch being, as you may or may not know (or care lolee). And the fluffy, roly-poly form you see him taking on is just his patron Elder God's way of making him into something our little mortal brains make sense of. sort of. the teratoma, or teratoform

However, it is not without rules; one of which being that his coat has certain complexities he has to deal with.

The fur is very thick and plush, much like a chinchilla or otter. it is dense and long and serves as a sort of cladding, keeping his firebox heart insulated. In the cold, damp Sodor winters, that means it grows in luxuriously soft and thick, slightly paler than his usual coat. it's so thick that glorious dewlap of fluff hides his buffer beam completely, and his tail is like 3 times its width. he is truly a sight to behold.

...

However, Sudrian springs are mild. And Sudrian summers? hot. So he has to get rid of ALL OF THAT FUR in like, a week. He spends a lot of time painstakingly brushing it out, and at the end, he's back to his normal level of fluffiness, which is to say, quite a bit!

However, every 5 years or so he goes through the MOST INTENSE MOULT where he loses like 80% of his fur AT ONCE. it's itchy. it's sneezy. it's humiliating. Much to his horror, it has been compared to the look of mange or ringworm, of which it is neither. He's a very fussy little dude, so Rook spends as much time as possible in his engine form, and when he is not, he's shedding fur like a dandylion in some kid's fist. Make a wish!

Unfortunately, these heavy moults last 4-6 weeks, so he's usually REALLY ill tempered during these times. If he. -ever- was to respond with less-than-sweet-and-politeness...it would be then!

Sick Chinchilla

So one of our chinchilla's is sick, and we desperately need to take her to the vet, we're pretty sure she has a tooth infection and she can't even seem to eat the soft stuff so we're taking her to a vet and we already know she's gonna need antibiotics and pain meds and probably gonna need sedatives and blood work.
