A bunch of MS Paint doodles from the other day. (I needed to feel "tool limited" to truly draw without a care, it was so much fun!)

You've talked about the difference of feral and anthro furries and their relation to porn. I was wondering, what's your thoughts on Pokemon or digimon or whatever other creature catcher games? Especially the quad creatures like Eevee for example.
Digimon are fully sapient AI so the ethical question would primarily stem from the fact their aging is not linear and is based on various factors other than time, but their personality is typically adjusted by what level they are currently digivolved at. I personally think Digimon are so physiologically divorced from what a real animal is (many Digimon are in fact Just Guys) I wouldn’t even necessarily draw the line at a quadrupedal one just because something like this doesn’t really look like a real animal. It goes more into alien or monster territory than animal.
Tumblr media
Pokémon are primarily just animals though, sorry. An eevee is a dog fox thing that yips and eats kibble from a bowl and poops in the backyard. You cannot ethically sex up an eevee. You can probably make arguments for psychic types like Alakazam being smarter than any human ever, but that doesn’t mean you should. A Digimon partner is treated as your equal and you really typically just get the one. Pokémon are collectible animals that say bark bark and can’t remember more than four commands at a time. Yeah you could try your luck with Arceus I suppose seducing the god of the universe might be ethical in theory but I mean good luck soldier, I don’t see it working out.
In general though no I do not trust people who sexualize Pokémon. Yes some look humanoid, but if they can’t speak or understand human language outside a few commands that’s really not much better than trying to get with a chimpanzee.

So today is Post Amazing Art Day on my blog 🙈
These two pics of my OCs are by my friends @thecraftedmacaque and @picapicamagpie, and I just love them so much!! The monkey is Odalys (my fursona), and the gorilla (Breck) and the chimpanzee (Mortimer) are her chaotic friends. Their expressions are just so perfect; Breck looks like the kind goofball that he is, and Mortimer looks nervous because he has a crush on Odalys (she has no idea 😂). Odalys' face in both pictures is so adorable, and they did her face fur perfectly 💪🏼 Face fur is my favorite feature of anthro monke characters, so this is very important to me. The face fur definitely passes inspection 🧐 🙊
I love these, guys, thank you 🙏🏻 💗

Hello, I was wondering in the sterling story which animals are considered sentient? The characters are mentioned eating chicken and steak, implying those animals are not anthropomorphic but just normal animals. Are cows not at the same level as wolves? Is there a line which divides sentience? Sorry if this seems rude, I enjoy your work and don't mean to criticize, I was just curious as I reread the sterling series. Hope you have a nice day!
No worries! I answered this before but I can't find it to link. There are normal animals as well as anthropomorphic animals. Anthro carnivores eat the normal animals, but not the anthropomorphic ones. They would also not eat normal animals we would also culturally consider "intelligent" (dogs, chimpanzees, dolphins, etc) but would eat normal prey animals (chickens, turkeys, cows, etc.)
When they want to be rude, the carnivores do make jokes about eating the anthropomorphic herbivores, but would never actually do that. Most herbivores recognize carnivores eat meat and are fine with that, though they do get uncomfortable when carnivores make those sorts of jokes more because they are being compared to a prey animal that isn't considered "intelligent" or capable, than fear for their lives.
Anthropomorphic carnivores are not better than anthro herbivores, they just have different cultural characteristics. A herbivore could be domineering if they want to be but we're raised in a more communal culture, valuing social cohesion and harmony.
Anthro carnivores can be communal if they want to but were raised in a more domineering culture, valuing strength and conquest.
These cultural differences sometimes become stereotypes which is part of the conflict in their universe. There is no genetic reason there shouldn't be a herbivore king, but culturally herbivores would never elect a king, they prefer a council of elders. The carnivores go around enforcing their authority, which is also part of the conflict and why (separate from attraction) taking a herbivore as a queen is a wise idea for Sterling, to create a bridge between the carnivores and herbivores and hopefully prevent an uprising.
Anthropomorphic animals see each other as the same "genus" and while there are different types they would all consider eating one another a disgusting aberration and considered a form of cannibalism, the same way we (hopefully) would not eat a neanderthal.
I hope that clears things up! 😸

i’m having furgonomics in my mind again and i feel like a pretty easy solution to the whole thing of “what do anthro animals eat in an anthro animal world??” is that there’s anthro and regular animals, it’s not really seen as weird and much like how a human views a chimpanzee, what i think is underexplored however is domesticated variants of animals that we humans haven’t domesticated, and said domesticated variants are due to the diets needed by certain anthros that humans don’t have

What was your favourite assignment from undergrad (if you can remember one)? Extra points for any "useless" information learned (eg I had to read several papers about the relative levels of aggression of different ant species for a research proposal on examining whether chimpanzees have culture for one of my modules)
Oh!! Interesting about the ants!! You should tell me more!!
Honestly there were a ton of great undergrad assignments (hippie non-trad anthro profs for the absolute win) but the one that first comes to mind - and that I legit put on resumes - was the local food documentary.
One of my profs is super obsessed with digitial and videographic ethnography methods, and for his ethnobotany class the final project was a documentary about local food producers. He contacted different local farms and had our class split into 5 groups, each of whom would work with one the local farms to create a documentary segment about their work and why/what they were doing. I chose to join the group doing a segment about Indigenous food producers. He admitted from the start that this one would be a bit different because it was such a broad topic and would require interacting with and interviewing lots of different people, but it was by far the single most rewarding subgroup in the whole project. We ended up working with two different tribal nations and numerous different tribal-oriented organizations about the programs they were implementing related to Indigenous food sovereignty and increasing the health of Indigenous communities. Actually, I need to message the professor to try and get my hands on a copy or link of the final project (we were supposed to get one just when covid started) because I would totaly post it here. Sincerely very proud of my work on that.
Side note, the song Sincerely from the musical The Music Man is fun song and everyone who sees this should go listen to it.
There's no such thing as useless info, so I'm glad you put in quotation marks. But if you want a fun fact I learned through extra project research (for a totally different, but equally interesting class, called "Cultural Constructions of the Body" (fun fact, the profs for these two classes are actually married with kids but hardly anyone knows because they don't share last names and never talk about each other and are very different but once you know it makes *so* much sense)): Back in the 1880's, tattoos were becoming popular amongst Britian's sailor population. Unforunately, these tattoos were not the most sanitary, and cheap dock-worker tattoo artists would often make their ink more watery and easier to work with by spitting into their ink. Another unforunate fact about this time was the rampant presence of syphilis. And sailors who got these cheap tattoos would sometimes end up with open syphilis wounds all over their new tattoo. *Except* these syphilis sores wouldn't affect any area that had been tattooed red - because the red ink at the time contained high enough levels of mercury that it killed the syphilis.

Werecreature bios.
- Jessica: An anthro style wererabbit who is a notorious killer, beneath her sweet and adorable demeanor there's a serial killer waiting to strike. There's the killer, no the killer isn't behind the rabbit, she is the rabbit, she's no ordinary rabbit, she's a savage serial killing wererabbit with a yandere streak.
- Morgana: a classy anthro style vampire were-bat who loves classic rock, musical theater and putting on performances.
- Benedict: Jakara's brother, a British detective who became a little too protective of the treasures he unlocked while on a case and that's how he unlocked his own were-dragon powers, mostly resides in London but sometimes resides in New Zealand, he is an anthro style weredragon with a humanoid look that resembles Smaug.
- Tammy: An anthro style werebeaver who used to be known as one of the worst video makers on earth she began as Todd Baverton. Todd Baverton used to be an infamous video maker famous for his hypocritical views on bullying, he created a happy go lucky anthro beaver character to be a sort of mascot for anti-bullying but unfortunately even though the character he created loved him like a father, he never loved his own creation back, well he did...it's just he defended him in all the wrong ways including threatening to sue people who tried to parody/make fun of him and his character, using a fake law firm as his cover. He eventually did get transformed as a punishment, he got TGed into a female werebeaver and she is now the mother to her own creation.
- Hilda: An anthro were-night-fury who is a warrioress and a mother.
- Maurice: Moolyn's were-bull boyfriend who may play a tough guy as part of his wrestling persona, but he's actually a generous and polite sort who is big-hearted and protective of his girlfriend and her friends.
- Evita: One of three weredog sisters who is a were-chihua, she gets her name from one of Madonna's dogs and takes after Madonna herself in terms of her fashion sense and singing talent. It's explained in this take that Madonna gave two of the sisters away to a new owner when she felt there wasn't enough room. She and her other sisters Rosita and Chiquita were adopted by the late Glenn Shadix, based on of course the story of how Glenn looked after two of Madonna's dogs. Despite being a blond, she's actually smart and very free-spirited, but she tends to act like Ren from Ren and Stimpy when mad (she sometimes calls people who bather her intellectual as an 'eeediot' in the same way Ren does and has a Happy Happy Joy Joy dance she does when she's in a good mood as well).
- Rosita: The second of the were-chihua sisters, it is explained in her backstory that she and Chiquita were adopted by Glenn Shadix with Evita eventually joining them. Rosita is always wondering about her identity and her sexuality, as sometimes she's seen kissing male characters and sometimes she is seen with female characters, hinting that she's bisexual.
- Chiquita: The third of the were-chihua sisters, she was the second to be adopted by the late Glenn Shadix. Personality-wise, she is meek and timid around strangers at first but is always willing to get to know to someone and she is very protective of her sisters, it's also explained that she definitely likes Tim Burton because of his friendship with the late actor, it's also explained that she likes acting and putting on costumes, she has dreams of being a singer and actress.
- Leanna: A ninja were-chimpanzee who is skilled at solving puzzles, she's very helpful and intelligent.
- Mei: A version of Mei from Turning Red, this version turns into an anthro styled were-red-panda and unlike her movie counterpart she doesn't grow bigger in height, she just grows a little bit taller and her hair lengthens, it's explained she can use the extentions of her hair as whips.
- Moolyn: This anthro styled werecow is one bovine who is half of a were-bovine power couple, both in the wrestling ring and in real life...a championship wrestler in both the light and heavy-weight categories, Moolyn is no mindless beast...she's got a fiesty personality and a caring one at the same time, she has had her share of accidents, some even had her end up in hospital but she's used to it and she's used to being thrown around, she just throws her own weight around back. She is friends with Ashilynn the Weredonkey and Helena the werehorse.
- Sandra: Sandra is a socially awkward weresheep who is often treated unfairly by her peers, it's explained that she had a sibling that she lost at the claws of a predatorial werecreature hence why she is afraid of them, she often finds it to be too terrifying so she goes into her mind and her mind isn't quite normal by any means.
- Lampwick: This version of the character from Pinnochio is an anthro were-donkey guy who was a trouble-making rockstar type before he performed a special concert event at the Pleasant Island nightclub, he knew that the nightclub's manager who is the equivalent of the coachman had a liking for donkey-guys and donkey-girls hence why several of the guests seemed to be turned into those forms, he found it remarkable that they can all talk and don't have any donkey-like instincts or urges and that's when he decided to perform at the nightclub as a reccuring guest performer/musician, overtime he took after some of the males that he saw and he became an anthro weredonkey, he later moved to the city where he became fascinated by the case of the weredonkey known as Ashilynn.

I always really, really, really wanted to have an ape character and finally, I gathered myself to make one. Yes, it's an old man again. No idea for his setting, no idea for his story, I don't know what to do with him, all I know is that he's the hobbyist aquarist, he's around 4'11''/150 cm tall and he top and independent man but also soft for his shrimps and fishies ✊

Amazing background art by the incredibly talented @cutekoala1001. I commissioned her to draw The Salty Simiano, which is the restaurant from my Sing fanfic. I could not be happier with how it turned out!!! The colors, the lighting, the decorations, the angles, the way she fit so many features into one shot, just...all-around mind-blowing 🤯
As you all know by now, I am kind of obsessed with the anthro primate characters from the Sing movies. For my Sing universe I made up a Latin American-style cantina that welcomes all animals obviously but panders to primates; it is known as a monkey hangout in Red Shore City. It also features sugar skull-type art, except the skulls are of anthro animals 😂 In the picture, the larger skulls on the wall, window and floor are chimpanzee skulls. In the bar area, the two skulls behind the chairs are a deer and a crocodile, and the one by the menu is a dog. The one in the corner by the enclosed seating area is a koala. The area on the floor covered by the skull is a dance floor.
What I love about this piece is that, like all good art, it tells so many stories. I didn’t really flesh the restaurant out very much in my fic, and seeing it here really helps inspire me to create ideas for it:
• That little enclosed seating area by the tree is very cozy, so I can see it being a popular romantic place for  couples. But it’s also large enough to seat more than two, so I can also see it as a meeting place for friends.
• The restaurant has live music from time to time. Most of the bands are local Latino musicians, but since this is Red Shore City, you can also find visiting musician stars performing here from time to time.
• The band plays in front of the Salty Simiano logo. This allows for many photo ops, especially with the dance floor nearby.
• If the band knows that there is a romantic couple sitting somewhere, they will walk over to the couple and serenade them. They will also play music loudly in front of shy-looking patrons seated at the tables, insisting that they go out and dance.
• There’s one band that’s really sassy and heckles the crowd all night, in Spanish and English. The singer will butt into a dance and “steal” the guy’s partner from him and tell the girl that she could do better in terms of mates. He says this into his microphone so that everyone can hear him.
• The art in the restaurant is featured in numerous cultural publications in Red Shore City (magazines, etc.). The restaurant has also published a pamphlet that explains the history and meaning of the sugar skulls. Art students also come here for studies.
• The tree was already on the land before the building was constructed, and the tree was special to the restaurant owners (being monkeys). They didn’t want to cut the tree down, so they just constructed the building around the tree and made a skylight so that natural light could filter into the room. As the tree gets bigger, they will remove the tiles that surround it. They hired a professional landscaper to prune the tree in such a way that it will eventually grow through the roof, and they will renovate the building to accommodate the tree. I know this would never happen irl, but I’m kind of a hippy and would love to see this.
Thanks so much for doing such an amazing job on this, @cutekoala1001!

The 413th Glorious Inconspicuous Advance Scout Squad of The Orang People's Army
Sergeant Utan Bator is a master of swinging invisibly from the tree canopy and garrotting unsuspecting victims. Corporal Pablo Pongo kills silently with a sickle and messily with a hammer. Private Faunus Troglodyte has an AK-47 and carries a lot of ammunition.
The Sergeant is a grizzled veteran of the first Ape War, who mostly just wanted the chance to actually win a war against the humans and establish an Ape homeland. The Corporal is a True Believer in the ideals of equality and prosperity for all people-- even humans!-- and believes the Democratic Socialist Orang People's Republic will serve as a shining example for the rest of the world to follow. The Private is the son of research chimps who were harshly treated in Indonesia before The Bomb, and really just joined the Orang People's Army for the chance to kill a lot of humans.
The DSOPR doesn't issue individual medals or awards, only unit citations; the 413th earned the subtitle Inconspicuous for sneaking up and capturing the headquarters of an Australian Expeditionary force at Keluang in a major victory early in the Second Ape War, and the subtitle Glorious for twelve-handedly being responsible for preventing the destruction of the main body of the Orang People's Army in a brave last stand during the retreat from Kuala Lumpur.
From my Adorable Creatures universe, which grew out of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles And Other Strangeness RPG campaign from the late '80s. It's set in the early 21st Century of a world where WWIII happened in 1995, and wasn't nearly as bad as everyone had expected. It was still terrible, hundreds of millions of people died, but it turned out that the vast majority of the world's nuclear weapon stockpiles... were fake. Politicians in the great powers had requisitioned trillions of dollars for defense spending over the decades, but had spent it on the same things politicians throughout history have spent taxpayer dollars on: ale and whores. Missile silos were top secret party caves for top military brass, with endless beer and nachos; nuclear missile submarines were underwater casinos for the rich and not-so-famous; strategic bombers were kitted out for Mile High Club joyrides for wealthy campaign donors; many of the real missiles and bombs had warheads made of carboard and aluminum foil and filled with sand. Enough warheads were real that most of the world's major cities got at least one airburst, and national capitals and financial centers were targeted for big enough saturation attacks that they were destroyed, but by Day Two it was obvious that civilization had been wrecked but hadn't completely collapsed.
In the aftermath of The Bomb, the whole world learned what Japan had known since 1945: All Radiation Is Mutagenic. Many humans began developing bioenergetic powers and became superheroes and/or supervillains... and many began mutating into animal-like forms. Millions of animals worldwide also began mutating, growing into larger, more bipedal versions of themselves, with functional hands and human-level (or greater) intelligence. These Beast Folk were common enough that most of the world's nations, both surviving and newly formed, were quickly forced to acknowledge them as citizens to prevent mass uprisings.
