The mug of tea in your hand clatters against the table as Chifuyu wraps his arms around your waist, resting his head in the crook of your neck. He presses a kiss to your shoulder in silent apology. “I missed you. What're you making so late?" 

"Tea. Want some?"

He’s just taken a shower. Damp hair brushes against your skin as he shakes his head. He smells like that expensive bottle of coconut showergel you brought over for nights spent at his place – the cheek pressed against your skin feels so soft you don’t have the heart to tell him off. 

“Sorry,” he mumbles, as if he can read your mind, “I used your body wash. It smells nice.”

“I don’t mind if it’s you.” 

Chifuyu chuckles softly. “Yeah, yeah. I know you don’t like sharing.” He tilts his head to press a kiss beneath your jaw. “Don’t worry, I’ll buy you more. Let’s go shopping tomorrow. My treat.”  

“Chifuyu?” 

He perks up slightly. “Yeah?” 

“Go to sleep.” 

Chifuyu deflates. His chin slumps against your shoulder. “I never see you anymore.”

His arms unconsciously tighten, almost as if he’s terrified you’ll pull away without him even noticing. “I don’t want to be alone tonight.” 

His words hit you right in the gut. He’s right.

Work sends you home late, pushes Chifuyu out the door before you even wake up. Late night take-out in the fridge with post-it notes on the counter:

Got you some katsu – warm it up in the microwave <3 Love you. Psst there’s my left-over tempura in the fridge if you want (probably soggy tho >.<)

Flowers delivered to his office with notes sent up by the doorman–sorry i missed you last night, ‘fuyu. thanks for the katsu, let’s eat together next time. ilys–matched with a text appearing an hour later–and chifuyu! i love you <3 not sure when you’ll get it, but i maxed the character limit on the flowers

He must misinterpret your silence. "(Y/N)? What’s wrong?"

“Chifuyu,” you murmur. 

“I know it’s hard, but give me one more chance. I’ll do better.” 

“What?” 

“Don’t break up with me,” Chifuyu whispers. “I can’t do this without you.”

As soon as the words form, he sighs, shaking his head as if in trance. "Oh god. That sounds so shitty. I mean, we can. But let’s do it tomorrow. Not right now."

Break up with him?

“What? No, Chifuyu, that's not–” You face him, voice softening. “Hey. Look at me. I’m not going anywhere.”

“You're not?” His voice lilts with confusion, relief, and above all, overwhelming exhaustion.

It suddenly occurs to you that Chifuyu normally takes morning showers. Did he take that night-shower to stay awake for you? 

“I love you, ‘fuyu.” You say gently. “I'm sorry for being upset lately. I am, but it's not you. Just ... a lot of work and a crappy boss."

Chifuyu leans into your hand. He nods, a breath he'd been holding finally escaping his lips. "Oh. That makes two of us."

"You make me happy. Really. I’m not going anywhere.”

At the pained look in his eyes, you continue. “Home’s with you.”

“I,” Chifuyu whispers, “I needed to hear that.” He blinks, then presses a hand to his forehead. "I'm not ... thinking straight. Toman's going through it, and Takemichi’s not making things any less difficult."

You press a kiss to his forehead. “Come on, let’s go to bed.” 

With the lights out and Chifuyu’s back pressed to your chest, you press your lips to the back of his neck. “Get some sleep, okay? We'll talk more later."

"I'll be at a dinner party tomorrow night, but I'm staying home all until then. Taking you out, remember? And then we have the weekend." Chifuyu thumbs little circles into your arms wrapped around his waist. “I love you,” he whispers. “You know that, right?” 

"Yeah." You breathe into his oversized t-shirt. Traces of catnip linger among the detergent and coconut showergel. Your coconut bodywash. Him and you. "Yeah, I know."

Hajime "Koko" Kokonoi:

I feel like he wouldn't know that much about the topic, so once you told him that you get overstimulated he does a little bit of research on it. Once he knows what triggers you he'll try to avoid bringing you into these situations. If you going into public makes you start to feel uneasy or anxious, he'll pull you somewhere in a more quiet and less populated place.

If you start shutting down and dissociating, then he'll try his best to make you snap out of it. The first time it happened before he researched about it he was confused. Why were you always agitated when the two of you had gotten back from a crowded place?

Well you had a talk with him about it, and told him the reason you get so agitated was because you were anxious, and was wanting to get out of the situation to calm down. And guess what? He was super understanding about it and didn't judge you.

Chifuyu Matsuno:

Would be a little clueless, but 100% has the sprite. It would take a couple times for you to get overstimulated and open up about it, but once you do he's so attentive when you're explaining it. Would also ask questions about it, he wants to know everything there possibly is to help you. If you're just not responding and really spaced out, then he'll try to get your attention.

If that doesn't work then he'll gently shake you until you snapped out of it. Would get you your favorite food and drinks to help you calm down, and would take you somewhere like a park or a convenience store parking lot. He really doesn't want you to leave his sight because he's really worried about you, so he'll hold your hand as long as he's with you.

Seishu Inui:

I feel like he would know what it's like. Inui would definitely have felt it at least once or twice in his life. If the two of you knew each other before dating, then he would pick up on when you needed to be pulled out of a situation. If the two of you were at a party and he saw you dissociating, he would calmly excuse the two of you for some fresh air if he thinks it gets too bad.

He'd be good at picking up signs early when you start to feel anxious and jittery. If it helps you calm down then he'll carry around a few of those fidget toys and let you use them in a place with few/no people to help you calm down. He respects if you don't want to be touched at all, or if you want him to hold you or not.

Ran Hanitani:

I hc him as not really going out that much in public like parties and stuff. He most likely had to calm down Rindou when he had one of his meltdowns when he was younger, so he knows how to help someone. He's attentive at all times when you're with him. He'd be good with jokes if you start freaking out bad enough and start hyperventilating as a way to ground you. Either way he'd be good at grounding his partner.

The two of you don't go out that much where there's big crowds, so you don't get overstimulated often. But sometimes too many things can happen all in one day, and that can push you overboard. At your Ran's house he would be able to comfort you better, like getting you some water or a favorite blanket.

He wouldn't leave your side for the whole night, and would gladly change plans for you.

Shuji Hanma:

He's known for a while now that the two of you have been dating. He picked up on your quirks and connected the dots pretty quickly. He's also another person that I would think would be really good at grounding someone. He would go through the whole, "Just look into my eye baby. Yeah that's good. Can you mimic my breathing?" If you dissociate for a little bit to log he'll snap you out of it and ask if you're ok.

He gets amused when you get grouchy after you calm down, and likes to joke with you. He knows it's a way of making yourself feel more calm and letter it out all, so he keeps on getting you more angry. Once you're all tired out he'll give you something to eat, drink, and comfort if wanted. If he thinks it's necessary he'll pull you out of school/events that make you feel this way or under immense stress.

his alpha instincts command him to make sure you're well and assess the situation to know what's wrong.

when you admit it's because of how clumsy you are, he's relieved it isn't anything more serious and finds it even endearing.

of course, his protective nature doesn't take long to kick in and he's paying even more attention to your surroundings.

Han I have an urgent request if you don’t mind. Can I request baji, mitsuya, and chifuyu with a girlfriend who’s afraid to panic in front of them? I know that sound strange but I’ve been made fun of and/ or yelled at (which just made things 10x worse) for having panic attacks in front of friends and family. So now, I try to hold it in even if it hurts me physically, to the point I passed out recently :/ I mainly panic if my dad and step mom are fighting (I hate her) and loud noises like fireworks (been called a wimp during a festival before)

[A/N: Hello <3 so sorry you have to go through this. There's nothing wrong with panicking, it's a genuine response and you just happen to have it with loud noises and arguments. I hope this gives you some comfort <3]

Baji:

He’s a little loud so he’s the one that probably accidentally sets you off with one of his rage outbursts

You’d excuse yourself and he’d see you freaking out later but you try and brush him away

He refuses though and continues to follow you around until you finally stop, tears running down your face as your breathing picks up

The only thing you can manage to do it apologize profusely as you struggle to breathe, but he has his arms around you immediately

There’s no way he’d ever make fun of you for panicking in front of him

If anything once you’re calm he tries to figure out what set you off, and when you tell him it was his outburst, he’s the one apologizing

From that day forward he tries controlling is voice when you’re around–he can be explosive (not towards you but just in general) so he keeps himself in check when you’re present

Would 10000% send you into the next room while he fights anyone that has a hint of judgment on their face when you start to panic

Mitsuya:

You show up at his place one day after your parents fight and before you realize it,  you’re knocking on his door

You kinda regret it, not wanting to show up in front of him, a panicked mess with tears running down your face…but just as you’re about to turn away and leave, he opens the door and welcomes you with open arms as soon as he sees the state you’re in

He doesn’t need an explanation, his main priority is making you comfortable first and that means pulling you into his home and making you some tea or hot cocoa (whatever would help you calm down) while he holds you in his arms

He focuses on tracing small circles into your shoulders, attempting to calm you down from your sobbing as he whispers loving words into your ear

Even as you calm down, he still won’t pry into what caused you to have a panic attack, but if you start talking about it, he quietly listens

He knows the struggles you have at home and invites you to spend the night with him for as long as you need just so you can have some time away from that environment

You’re his family and he’d do anything to make you feel safe with your emotions around him

Chifuyu:

It’s New Years and there's a firework show Chifuyu wanted to see with you, claiming it would be romantic to watch fireworks together to welcome the new year in together

It was a fairly long show, but the first big bang instantly made you tense up, alerting Chifuyu who looks over in your direction

He could see the panic on your face and takes that as his sign to spring into action

You’re placed between his legs (you were sitting on the ground looking up at the fireworks) as he places his hands around your ears to help lessen the sound of the loud bangs, leaning into your back to press a kiss to the top of your head before he leans his chin on you

You’re able to relax into his arms and feel calmer now that the fireworks don’t sound as loud as they did before, but still being able to admire the beauty of them with your boyfriend

As the countdown approaches he spins you around and presses a kiss to your lips, his hands still over your ears as more fireworks erupt around you both and the new year finally arrives

He mouths an ‘i love you’ and takes your hand to lead you away from the crowd as it gets a little more busy and loud with everyone's excitement

He’s kinda excited that he got to act out a shoujo-esque moment with you and feels pretty good about it

Chifuyu makes a mental note of your panic to the loud fireworks and will probably bring it up another day so he can find out what other things make you panic–no judgment here at all, this man thinks you’re cute 24/7, but he’d rather know so he can avoid situations that may make you have a panic attack in the future!

I… backed him into a corner, and gave him the wrong idea. Maybe it was on purpose, but…” Chifuyu slowly looked up, feeling his heart break at how sad your tear stained face looked back at him. “I’m sorry… you didn’t deserve to be used for that.”

You blinked back at him curiously, wiping your face frantically. “I… don’t think I understand.” You admitted. Chifuyu wasn’t sure how much he should admit. So, at a loss for words, he averted his gaze.

Catching the feint outline of Baji’s blown out hair and aggressive stance, Chifuyu sighed, almost defeated. ‘He’s finally came to his senses, huh…’

Had he hoped Baji would keep tumbling over his feelings for you in his room longer? So he could have this moment with you? Maybe persuade you that he was the better man? He didn’t really think that, but he’d hoped, maybe, you might…

But he’d knew he lost that chance a long time ago, when your eyes widened with anticipation, as you looked back and wishfully caught Baji’s unreadable expression.

“Get home safe, Y/n…” Chifuyu all but whispered, as he retracted his hand and stepped up the staircase slowly in way to his own apartment.

In passing, Baji halted Chifuyu with an earnest, “Thanks…”

Chifuyu paused only for a moment, and gave his best friend an encouraging punch to the shoulder. “Don’t take her for granted like that again, got it? … Treat her nicer from now on, or else.” Chifuyu half threatened, weaved in with a joking tone. Baji didn’t know what ‘else’ could possibly mean, but he wasn’t eager to find out.

After Chifuyu made it up to the second flight, Baji deemed it safe to step his way down to the bottom of the stair case.

He’d walked past you, and sat two steps below, back facing toward you. It was quiet for a minute, the moment swept up in the sound of night crickets and quiet traffic in the distance.

You weren’t sure how to break the silence. It felt pitiful being caught in this situation in the first place. Had you just accepted what happened, and made your way home like you said you would, the hot heat of embarrassment wouldn’t be eating up your neck right now. If only you hadn’t taken his temper so personally, maybe you two could have pretended like it’d never happened. Avoid this awkward tension all together.

“I’m sorry for the way I acted back there, Y/n.” Baji spoke clearly and forward. “I really am. I shouldn’t have taken out how I was feeling against you like I had.” It took a lot, and I mean a lot, of strength for him to be able to admit that.

Admitting his mistakes was a hell of a lot harder than deflecting them.

You knew this better than most.

You tried to hold it back, but a smile crept its way across your face at this admission of defeat. For once, someone was willing to admit you weren’t the one at fault for their own actions. It felt good, hearing those words.

“Thank you.” You said quietly, slipping down a step, to better rest your forehead against the wide of his back affectionately.

Baji stiffened at this act, unsure of what to do or say next. His face was hot with embarrassment, and all the valiant words he had thought up went right out the window.

He couldn’t deny this feeling pounding against his chest this time. You were surely to hear his heartbeat at this distance. Shit. Was he actually ready to admit what he’s been feeling? Now?

“So,” your whisper snapped him back to reality, lifting your head off his back, and replacing the pressure with a gentle hand. “What were you feeling, then?” You asked.

Baji was again at a loss for words. It took him a while to gather the words he wanted to say, but you sat there patiently. You would wait for hours if it meant that The Baji Keisuke would finally honestly open up about what he was really thinking.

“I… think I like you…” he sighed reluctantly, covering his face with his hands. “It’s stupid. I know I shouldn’t feel this way. You…. You’re so… good. You’ve never looked at me with judgement; you scold me for being dishonest, and have encouraged me to be better, when you should have given up on me long ago… I can’t, stop thinking about… about how… I want to see you… I want to hear you praise me for my achievements… I want you to smile at me for no reason, to hold my hand, to listen to music with you, listen to you rant about your new favorite manga. I want…” Baji caught himself tongue tied, the red hot embarrassment of admitting all this choked him to a halt. But the emotions kept sweeping over him. Like word vomit, he couldn’t stop now that he’d started.

“I want to be by your side. I always want to be the one you go to when you cry, when you feel burdened, or happy. I want you to share everything you feel with me, and I want to… feel those things with you. I…” Baji bit his lip harshly. “I know… I’m not the best choice of guys out there. I’m hard-headed and brash. I lose my tempter too quickly, and I can’t promise I can change those things about me right now, but… I want to try. At least, I want to try being a little bit smarter. You deserve to be with someone who can take care of you, forever. Even if it means one day I have to give up fighting, one day, I think, I can be that person… I hope.” He said unsure. “Well, I can’t really promise I can stop fighting people, there’s still lots of people I want to beat the shit out of, your dad for one…” he mumbled that last part, but didn’t falter. “I can’t promise to be anyone other than who I am, but I do promise that… if you can accept me…” Baji turned, sat on his knee to be face to face with you now.

You’ll always know my true feelings, and no matter what,” Baji hesitantly reached his hand out to take yours. “I’ll cherish you everyday, and prove that you were right not to give up on me..!“

You cut Baji off suddenly, fat tears rolling down your cheek. You threw your arms over his shoulders and almost topped him backward into the pavement with hard harshly you embraced him. “S-stop..! M-my heart, I don’t think it can take anymore!” You babbled between giggles, and hid your face in his shoulder. “You’ve said enough… I understand…” you breathed out shakily, unable to control your rapid heartbeat.

Baji was successfully shut up, all the confidence he’d built up to confess his feelings suddenly shattered with your earnest squeeze.

Together, you both took control of your rapid heartbeats and sat in mutual silence. Seconds pass, and before a minute could sweep past, you finally pulled away to stare into Baji’s wishful gaze. You smiled at him with the biggest, warmest smile he had ever seen in his life. “Baji, I love you… I love you so much.” You admitted, and took his face into your cold hands.

“I love who you are, as you are. I think you’re cool when you’re in the middle of a fight. I love the way victory looks on you, the pride you have in your strength, the joy it brings you…”

“I love how much you care about everyone, even if they don’t notice it… the way you’re always looking out for everyone, and protecting them without them even knowing it.”

Baji felt all the tension leave his body upon hearing your words. He could finally stop holding back the urge to say these words. He could finally be honest, without worrying about scaring you away.

Slowly, he began to chuckle. Low at first, and building up til he was laughing wholeheartedly. He wrapped his arms around your ribcage, spun you around and held you closer. You both twirled a few times like this before stepping off onto flat ground, happily starting off into each other’s eyes.

“You mean it..?” Baji asked in a whisper. You nodded back enthusiastically. “I mean it. And… you’re sure that..” you trailed off, unsure of what you meant to say next. But Baji understood. He rested his palm over your cheek, and leaned in close. “I’m sure. I want to be with you. So,” he smirked, and rested his forehead on yours.

“You’re sayin’ you want to be my girl?”

You blushed harshly, yet you couldn’t look away. Softly, you nodded into his palm, leaning closer still. “I… do.”

Baji was over the mood, and laughed happily. “I’m so glad…” he sighed, softening his intense gaze. “Then, it’d be okay if I kissed you, right?”

Blushing harsher still, you looked away just for a moment, then back again.

Instead of a verbal response, you used your tip-toes to hoist yourself up the necessary few inches to gently push your soft lips onto his own chapped ones. While taken by surprise at first, Baji quickly reciprocated your act.

Closing his eyes, he pulled you in closer, til it felt like you were melting into each other.
