A/N: Hough. Now that’s a song I haven’t thought of in a long time! It was nice revisiting an old banger!! Personally, I’ve always preferred SquigglyDigg’s cover because of the sheer power behind their vocals. Mini ramble aside, this was fun to write! Feel free to message me if you’d ever want me to redo this batch!

King Dice:

Your boyfriend was, at his core, a showman. He’s always sharply dressed in his finest attire and equipped with a charming grin, nary a wrinkle or stray mustache hair to be found. People are naturally drawn to him. When he talks, people listen and swoon. You, on the other hand, are a bit of a  wallflower. Social interactions tend to make you a little antsy. You feel more at home in the corner of the room, silently watching the crowd with equal parts curiosity and longing.

He finds your shyness to be a breath of fresh air compared to the constant stream of sleaze he deals with. It’s tiring having to constantly walk on eggshells around staff and patrons alike. Getting home to you feels like his own little slice of heaven in Inkwell Hell. 

Music is one of the loves King Dice shares with you. Be it the orchestral Big Band, the Blues that he grew up with, or even the occasional Bluegrass record, the die wants to experience it all with you.

It’s not uncommon to hear your boyfriend hum or quietly sing along to the radio in his office. If he’s feeling particularly joyful, the die would pull you into an impromptu dance. A gleaming smile stretches out on the smooth pane of his face as he twirls you around, your laughter flooding his being with honey-sweet warmth. 

And though he loves you dearly, Dice also takes great joy in embarrassing you. Whenever a slower, romantic song comes on (i.e If I Didn’t Care by the Ink Spots), you best believe that man will serenade you as he pulls you close. There’s nothing more he loves than the sight of your lips pulled taut as you try to fight back a flustered smile, eyes trained to your hands as your cheeks steadily grow warmer. 

What King Dice didn’t account for, however, was that you also had a knack for music. 

He had heard it faintly when the elevator doors opened. The muffled vocals of Cab Calloway could be heard through his office door. Along with  singing. Your singing. Immediately, his interest skyrockets. 

It took everything in his power not to burst into his office as the die eased the door open. He peeked his head inside, and his heart soars at the sight playing out before him. 

There you were: donning his suit jacket and bouncing along to the rhythm. Your voice, usually unsure and shaky, rang out clear as day. 

So, with utmost care, King Dice leaned against the doorframe. Arms folded and a small smile on his face as you continue to sing on, completely carefree. It was rare to see you like this, and by god was it adorable. 

You noticed his presence when you hear familiar humming. You freeze, an unholy squeak escaping your lips. Dice, to his credit, tries to hold back any laughter as you word vomit a stream of “ohmygods” and “Howlonghaveyoubeenstandingthere?!?”

It may take you a while to live down the incident. Well, a long, long while. Dice brings it up often, much to your chagrin. He teases, but he doesn’t mean anything by it! The die truly is amazed that you hid this talent from him for so long– your voice is gorgeous!

While he won’t outright force you to sing, King Dice would love it if you did it more. It’s not often he meets a fellow singer. The fact that you’re his partner only sweetens the pot. He can only imagine the sweet music the two of you can make together. 

The Devil:

The two of you make for an odd pair. 

The Devil cuts an intimidating figure. Wild, wiry black fur, blood red eyes that peer into your soul, teeth that could easily tear you open– the demon’s terrifying. Most folks wouldn’t dare cross his path…. And then they see you. Tiny, soft-spoken, and probably the least confrontational soul on Inkwell. 

In the eyes of onlookers, you might as well be the canary nestled within the lion’s paw. However, harming you was the last thing on the demon’s list. 

He actually likes that you’re shy and keep to yourself, surprisingly! The Devil isn’t one for crowds and socialization, good as he may be at it; he’s grown past such pleasantries. If anything, he uses it as an excuse to squirrel you away to himself in his office, the sly bastard. 

Despite your private nature, the Devil already knew about your little talent. He had heard the way you quietly sing or hum to yourself in the halls near his office. You had thought you were in the clear. Oblivious to your lover, who sat at his desk. Frozen, pointed ears perked up and straining to hear the sweet sounds flowing from your lips.

The demon had no intention of revealing his discovery to you. At least, not at first. Your singing could indirectly ease the burden of a grueling workday. Why risk flustering his adorable songbird into silence?

However, the secret slips out in due time. It had been a long, grueling day for the demon. Shoulders visibly sagged and eyes bloodshot, the Devil had flopped onto you the moment he found you. He tucked his nose into the crook of your neck and snaked his arms around your stomach. A quiet purr rumbled in his chest as you idly rubbed his temple, and he gently butted his head against your hand. A comfortable silence covered the two of you like a warm, weighted blanket. And then, the Devil broke it with a low “Sing for me.”

The demon watched you splutter and reddened in his grasp, his eyes glinted with a mischievous glow. He couldn’t help but smirk into your neck. 

The moment you relent and indulge him is the day you become his personal songbird. Your demonic lover treasures you, truly. However, he still acts like a brat around you and will (teasingly!) pester you to sing to him whenever he asks. Each time you indulge him, you’re rewarded with a smug purr. 

It rarely ever happens, but, occasionally, the Devil may ask you to sing him a lullaby. Centuries of a turbulent, violence-filled immortal life has rendered him unable to sleep regularly. Most times, the demon brushes off his insomnia. He usually deals with it by leafing through paperwork until he exhausts himself. When the allure of sleep grows too great, however, the Devil will immediately bee-line to you. 

Once he hears your honey-sweet voice and your small fingertips rub circles into his temple, he’s out like a light. It’s one of the rare times the demon has a peaceful night’s rest.

RANDOM CUPHEAD HEADCANON DUMP!

((Was gonna put that down as a header, but since my internet’s kinda slow today, and Tumblr won’t let me use headers right now, I had to type it like that…))

Anyway, since this looks like a great place for posting Cuphead headcanons, I thought I’d put mine out here for funsies, starting with my favorite character…

Little disclaimer on this one: Part of my headcanon for The Devil here sort of involves a demonic dad and demonic siblings, kinda like that Infernal Family AU made by @retroferno. Now, before you start calling me a plagiarizer, I want to let you all know that I’ve had this sort of “Seven Princes of Hell” idea in my head for Cuphead’s Devil LONG before coming across that AU. My version still has a lot of key differences, as you’ll soon find out. I’m not trying to insult retroferno here by any means. They’re a great Cuphead artist, and you should totally follow them. I’m just letting you all know what to expect in this post, so that I don’t start accidentally raising any plagiarism suspicions on here.

So, with all that said, here’s my cringy ass headcanons! :D

The reason why The Devil’s always so full of himself, is due to a CRAZY amount of low self-esteem for being the smallest of seven demon brothers, which would prompt his older bros to mock and give him degrading nicknames, like “Little Luci” or “The Runt”.

His father is Apollyon, the demon of destruction and King of the Abyss (and a fallen angel, who split himself into 7 more smaller demons when thrown from Heaven, which, in my mind, was how The Devil and his brothers were “born”). Unfortunately, he never thought too highly of Luci either, since his smaller stature made him very weak compared to his brothers. This just made him see Luci as a lost cause and a disgrace.

Before Luci became the devil of Inkwell Isles, his brothers were each given their own “underworld” to rule on Earth, when they all came of age (Leviathan had the oceans, Maymun had the gold mines, Belial had the volcanic areas, etc.)

Luci, not wanting to be left out any longer, begged Apollyon to send him to Earth, so that he could find his own underworld to rule and prove he’s not a weakling. Apollyon would only begrudgingly agree to this, not because he cared about Luci, but because he wanted to get rid of him for good, and assumed that he wouldn’t survive that long up there anyway.

Now, for Henchmen, he didn’t get along that well with The Devil when they first met. In addition to having access to Earth, and their own underworlds to rule, The Devil and his brothers were each given their own henchman demon as a “coming of age gift” (think of it like the pearls and the diamonds in Steven Universe). All the older brothers got a henchman that perfectly matched their personality; but The Devil (Luci), being the last one to receive any kind of gift from his father, was stuck with a henchman that was the exact opposite of him in almost every way. Needless to say, Luci wasn’t very happy about that.

One day, while exploring Inkwell Isles for the first time, Luci got so fed up with Henchman’s goofy antics and constant cheerfulness, that he screamed at him, saying he’d wish his father never paired him up with a “useless fat dope”. And through tearful sobs, Henchman replies with “I’m sorry, I don’t mean to be useless! I just want to make you proud!”, which makes Luci come to a full realization that he’d use to say those exact words to his father whenever HE screwed something up. This is basically my theory on why The Devil is often so much more patient with Henchman, compared to his other minions.

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST…

Okay, so this is gonna sound REALLY corny and cliché, but…I like to believe that King Dice started out as an orphan with big dreams of becoming the greatest musician, radio host, and entertainer in all the Inkwell Isles; and once he reached the age of 12, he felt like his talents were being wasted in the orphanage. So he ran away, became a pickpocket, and eventually met young Devil and young Henchman along the way (I’m one of those people who likes to view Dice and The Devil as childhood friends).

King Dice was also the one who introduced The Devil to earthly wonders like money, carnivals, jazz, casinos, and of course, cake.

The Lonesome Division - The Japanese division of a certain unknown organization, so named because they have so few members and are disconnected from the rest of the organization. They’re in NYC to investigate strange happenings surrounding the ZUSAMMEN concerts.

Takashi Saitou - They/them - Human

The “leader” of the Lonesome Division, by virtue of being the oldest.

Their aberration means that when they’re nearby, anything that can go wrong will go wrong, unless they specifically think about it. A lot of their headspace is taken up by considering all the possible ways that any given situation could go badly.

Kagami Hana - She/her or they/them - Human

The resident technology expert of the Lonesome Division, who built a ghost detection machine by herself.

Her understanding of technology means that although she doesn’t have an aberration (ability), she’s still able to keep up with her teammates.

Ayu Kunikida - He/him - Human

The “dad friend” of the Lonesome Division, though he’s not the oldest.

His aberration is that he’s able to turn invisible and visible at will, though sometimes he tends to forget which state he’s in, and he sometimes turns invisible without meaning to.

Ton Siegel - He/him - Android

Former lead singer of ZUSAMMEN.

Also worked at a diner called Thermopolis, which is how he met the Division.

As of WELCOME TO THE (LONESOME) DIVISION, he’s now a member of the Lonesome Division (and quit his job, without needing much encouragement.)

Despite the fact that he’s an android, he seems to be able to experience emotions.

The current leader of a biker gang called the Hellhounds.

Her bike is, as said by Iskra in OUR LUCKY DAY, haunted.

This aside, she moonlights as a pizza delivery driver, and Domino is her younger brother.

She also appears prominently alongside her partner Jun in Fade to Sky.

A government spy, who used to write ZUSAMMEN’s songs.

Encounters with this girl always seem to result in somebody screaming.

All she wants to do is hang out with her best friend, hunt cryptids, and protect the city.

Despite being called “lucky”, he often feels like everything goes in exactly the way he doesn’t want it to go.

En cuanto le vió su cuerpo comenzó a estremecerse y esa nueva sensación que invadía su cuerpo hacía que le temblaran las piernas demasiado. "Estoy aquí Adan" se acercó un poco más tímido de lo normal porque vaya que le iba a quitar la virginidad el hombre que siempre deseó. @cxncordia
