Vent Post About Bones S4E4 (will contain mild spoilers)

Okay. So my first complaint is that when Robbie is saying that he was thinking about being a veterinarian and his dad said it would be a good fallback if (human) med school didn't work out. No. That's not how this works. Vet school is /way/ longer than human med school. If the medical path is not for you, then you're not likely to put /more/ time and money and energy into an adjacent, and arguably much harder path (due to the number of species one has to work with compared with the 1 of human medicine).

Secondly, Ceasar Millan. I don't doubt that he loves dogs, but the scandals he's been involved in made those scenes /really/ awkward. Like, yeah the episode was filmed before the scandals, but watching them afterwards makes it seem like very poor taste. (For those unaware, the scandals involve his dog attacking a young girl and him using outdated theories based on the disproven wolf dominance thing. Using those theories, he justifies being physical with the dogs (such as doing "alpha rolls") to show them he's their alpha and superior. Seeing as the show is dealing with dogs trained to be aggressive for dogfighting... Yeah. Not exactly a great combination.)

Lastly, there is /no/ way that those dogs would've calmed down that fast. Like, sure Ripley was a nice dog, but he had a kind home prior to his dogfighting career. People involved with dogfighting want the dogs to be /mean/. I know this as someone I know has a dog who was rescued from people trying to force him into dogfighting and tried to make him mean (it just traumatized the poor sweetie). They want those dogs in a /frenzy/ when they go in the ring.

Dogs don't naturally tear each other apart. They have to be trained to do it. Thus, being confronted by strangers, these dogs would've been heavily abused and traumatized and would've been on high alert against any further pain. While they might be aggressive in a mean way, fear aggression certainly would've been rampant. It would've taken much more than just a "Shh" for them to stop barking and lay down. It's like telling a child in the middle of a meltdown "Shh" and expecting them to immediately stop crying and calm down.

I'm not saying that it wouldn't /eventually/ work, but those dogs would've needed more than that to feel comfortable and safe enough to calm down.

Disclaimer: I am not a dog behaviorist, so this is mostly based on what I've observed of dogs and my own interpretation of how their minds would process their situation

Autumn 2023 REVISED

I felt the high need to adjust my list (this one LINK), since I obviously missed out on some gems, and also some of the ones I felt really praiseworthy about PLUMMETED to hell;;;

Undead Unluck It's a difficult choice for the first place, but I think that on the long run, this is the one I'll be remembering. the system is cool, it has the potential for multiple seasons and the main duo are a great combi! Andy is such a refreshing guy who shrugges through life as Fuko is regretting every step they take. I'm also interested in knowing more about the group members.

Migi and Dali I compared it to Sakamoto, but it's actually a whole lot better. Despite the over the top bizarrity, or maybe just because, the story is really thrilling and even though the characters are all kinda weird and creepy, you just end up rooting for them (even the annoying beaver kid)

Apothecary Diaries Autism rights. I'm not too keen on the whole Chinese court drama, but the raven courtess had mellowed my prejudice. These characters are a whole lot easier to keep apart (though I still struggle with names) And watching a little girl bully a beautiful and snobbish man is a trope that never gets old.

the 100 girls who really really really love you A harem series?? in my top 5??? yes, this is actually so amusing. all the girls are cute, they all fit the mc well, and I can actually believe that multiple guys would fall for a guy like this! everyone's so down with the entire polycluster, it's so refreshing. and the girls are ✨getting along✨!!! No jealousy, no bitchiness, we're all ride or die for one another. (spoiler: though adding the mother of one of the girls to the cluster is A BIT weird....)

Kamonohashi Ron's forbidden deductions Dropped quite some places, since it doesn't feel like the characters are really sticking. I see the main plot seeping through here and there, but it kinda feels monster of the week overall. Still a good watch, though. The main duo is fun and Ron is such an idiot, amazing.

My new boss is goofy Nothing wrong here, entertaining and a good watch in between. not really going anywhere, but it doesn't need to. The 'no one pays me attention =n=' gag is a bit annoying and repetitive, but the goofiness is doing well on its delivery.

Dog Signal Ceasar Millan, the anime. Very antisocial dog trainer who I feel in my bones, because how absolutely UNEDUCATED can these dog owners get??? please for the love of god, do some research before getting a dog! Especially if it's a breed! Collies get bored easily, lifting dogs creates napoleon syndrome, don't fucking wind your dog up with anxiety before leaving the house!! anyway *clears throat* good show. very relatable.

Crash course on Naughtiness Not a lot happening here, but the main ship is cute and I like how the girl is growing more confident over time. They could have made the boy a bit weirder with the reputation he has and the 'naughtiness' falls kinda flat sometimes. But I like how they redicule themselves with the 'this strange man is teaching me naughty things ^^' as people watch upon her with concern.

Yuzuki family’s 4 sons The focus lies quite a lot on the 3rd son, which is a shame (please give me 5 seasons about just the little one, he is so precious), but it's very cute for a slice of life. I like how they all are their own person and break stereotypes. And it's both sad and beautiful how they don't act their age, due to their situation. Not a lot going on, but amusing enough to keep watching.

Family Circumstances of the Irregular Witch a bit clichee, but the comedy is quite on point and the characters are fun. love the little ending dance Might continue once I can binge them: Kamierabi (love the OP song) I'm in Love with the Villainess The Experienced You and The Inexperienced Me Nanatsu no Taizai: 4 knights of apocalypse Dropped: Ojou to Banken-kun (I'm sorry, it just made me rly uncomfortable..) Hey so quick PSA if anyone happens to see this...

LEASH. YOUR. DOG!!

I do not care if it weighs 2 pounds or was trained by Ceasar Millan or Zac Jordan if you're out in public it better be on a leash! Here's why:

Someone I know does TNR in feral cats around their city. It is overrun with feral cats... one colony is in a very public place with lots of people around but so far everything has been fine. A mama cat has been elusive and they can't get her spayed yet so she has a few kittens around now. One kitten turned up dead... mauled by something covered in bite marks. Nothing really came of it until recently when a young woman was out "walking" her dog and the dog was chasing the cats. She laughs it off and says he doesn't like cats but won't put him on a leash either way. This lady does not care if her dog kills a cat, what does it matter anyway? Well for one, that's so cruel to the cats and tiny kitten and two it doesn't look good on you or your PITBULL! The city will have no problem putting down your dog that already has a bad reputation because of its breed! The next glaring issue is today it was a helpless kitten, what if tomorrow there's a child or elderly person in your dog's sights? What then? There will be very little you can do to stop someone from getting severely hurt or worse... your dog will be put down. It makes no sense to me that people are ok with going through this and continuing to release their dogs into public knowing that any incidents could be prevented with a LEASH and some TRAINING! Not to mention the number of people who are terrified of dogs, your dog approaches them and they scream and have a panic attack will you laugh it off? Will you assure them he's harmless? That doesn't do much for them they're in fight or flight mode! Just please leash your dog! If you don't have the time to train them hire someone to do it. If you don't have the money for that DON'T GET A DOG! Pets are a privilege not a right and it is your responsibility to be a responsible pet owner! Untrained and unleashed dogs are not from responsible pet owners!

Anyway long and short of it is, be responsible with your dog and if you can't or don't plan to don't have a dog!

Ok so this pic is srs frikking old, it was like made back in 2014 so it’s like 5 years old omfg gnennkgegrkj, but anyway I found it as I was browsing through my art folder and was like omg I never finished this one it’s so good omg I love it xD as I recall this was based on the 2012 TMNT show, there was an episode where Raph used a pigeon to block out some camera’s or something I don’t remember, and I knew I had to draw him as a literal pigeon whisperer, based this off of a pic of Ceasar Millan the dog whisperer himself and everything

But as you can see I never finished it, bc I got stuck fighting with brushes I was using on the buildings and so I just never got around to finish it, even though it’s so good like srs look at him, his face is so good, the pose, them shitty pigeons, the background overall it’s all so flipping good and I love it xD and I just had to share it with you guys bc gods this is good

can any of you give me tips on how to convince my mom not to use ceasar millan tactics on my dog - shes trying to “dominance roll” the dog whenever the dog humps her leg when she gets in bed. she immediately squealed and tried to bite my mom but i dont think its going to stop her

Hi, I just wanted to ask for some advice. Growing up, my mother loved ceasar millan and trained me and my dogs to go by his training style. Now that I'm older, I realize that it's not good but I still find myself using his techniques. Do you know how I can get out of this? Or anyone else to watch and learn from that uses positive reinforcement (on YouTube maybe)? I don't like using ceasar's methods at all and I just want to find something better for my dogs :(

Anon I know exactly how you feel! I was the same and it is so hard. I’d admit I still catch myself doing stuff sometimes, but the best way to help you change your ways is to notice when you do it and then stop and change your ways.

The more you catch yourself doing a “Milan” thing the more you’ll break the habit!

Off the top of my head for people to watch would Victoria Stilwell (it’s me of the dog tv series), she is absolutely the opposite of Milan, and you’ll see if you watch her work.

Another one is Kikopup. If anyone else wants to add some please do!

But yeah, also doing training sessions with you dog(s) to help retrain yourself, and when you get frustrated try and walk away! (I know frustration can make you revert back to old ways too, which I’m still trying to get out of the habit).

But I do want to congratulate you on realising your ways and changing for the better. It takes a big person to accept they are wrong, so seriously well done. Wish you all the best ❤️

World dog show 2017

As you might know I went to Leizig last weekend for the world dog show and I'll upload the few pics that turned out ok later I just wanted to talk about it a bit first because I still have a lot of feelings about all the dogs and stuff.

Let me start by saying AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HOLY FLUFF I WANNA GO BACK!!!!

So. Many. Dogs. And I loved every single one. From the Australian cattle dogs to the Afghan Windhound. From the Bull terriers to the Border Collies. From the Chihuahuas to the Caucasian Ovcharka. From the Dachshunds to the Dobermans... You get my point.

Some highlight doggos include the -and I quote- "most beautiful St Bernard in Germany", a truly beautiful pitbull bab as in an actual pitbull not a pitbull type a real actual pitbull which is a pretty big deal for me because as I said before certain "dangerous" breeds(list dogs) are not too easy to come across in my country, a white Doberman!, a very dignified looking Akita inu and a smol American Akita pupper.

Oh and there were some really good deals?? Like we brought back a new collar, new leash, new light up collar, a squeaky pink dinosaur, LOTS of treats and some small bags of really good dog food. Like we have 7 small cans of dog food even though Sam usually only eats kibble because there was just so many free/almost free try out cans that came with other things.

I can't guarantee it's true since I didn't actually see him but both my parents swear they saw that one asshole there. You know that guy we all love to hate. Ceasar fucking Millan. I hate that guy.

And speaking of the few negative aspects, the air was HORRIBLE. But that was all of Leipzig not just the dog show. But still, I feel like my asthmatic ass could have enjoyed it even more if I hadn't been slightly wheezing the entire time.

But yeah IT WAS STILL AMAZING

Bonding with your dog is about being clear, consistent, and fair. It’s hard work to be a good dog, and it’s up to you to break it down into small, clear steps (and to make it worthwhile to your dog)! Your relationship with your dog will improve as your dog understands what you want from him.

Some highly-recommended books for making dog training a fun and positive experience are:

- Don’t shoot the dog! by Karen Pryor

- Bonding with your dog by Victoria Schade

- The other end of the leash by Patricia McConnell

- Decoding your dog by the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists

There are also TONS of articles that come up on Google when you search “how to bond with my new dog”. Dogblr is a good place for information, but try not to take anything at face value. There are many (rather loudly-voiced) conflicting opinions on dogblr.

Red flags in books to avoid (or at the very least, to take with a grain of salt):

- Anything about alpha theory, dominance, or being a pack leader

- Anything by Ceasar Millan

Don’t forget that new science involving dog training and behaviour is constantly being discovered. Twenty years ago, dominance theory was the end-all be-all of dog training. People are going to disagree with ANY method you end up using to bond with your dog. The important thing to remember is that this is YOUR dog, and as long as you’re being clear, consistent, and fair, you do you.

Also, if you get a puppy, your dog’s teenage years will turn him into a butthole. Don’t lose hope and try not to resent your dog. It won’t last forever, and these are things that happen.

when an extremely incompetent person tries to give you advice on how you should treat and train your animals and they literally do not listen to reason or scientific studies and u just kinda are forced to dissociate to completely avoid sparking a huge spat since their big go to is “its only opinion” when in fact it is not and the side I’m on has a shit ton of research into animal welfare and learning theory and their side only has extreme anthropomorphism and literal beating of their animals until they don’t have a shred left of autonomy and are so shut down you can’t even read their body language

some choice quotes, “don’t let anyone pet your dog until they are completely loyal to you”

“if they have an accident in the house shove their face in it and yell at them”

“wow my cat took an immediate liking to you” (as they were literally shoving it on the ground to demonstrate trainability and poking it in the face with a mechanical pencil for no reason. no fucking wonder your cat took refuge behind me)

“oh yeah back home if my dogs killed a chicken my dad would beat them with it. Its a highly effective training technique”

Not to mention their lack of knowledge on equines, and yet they constantly refuse to listen to me when I correct them when they say something completely false, for example “if horses don’t eat throughout the day their intestines twist into a knot and they colic” and “colic is characterized purely by the intestines twisting” and a final golden quote “When I work with my parents 2 year old and he tries to bite me I just beat the shit out of him and he stops”

not to mention the fact that they worship the ground ceasar millan and clinton anderson walk on and refuse to listen to reason and scientific data
