Hi Cat! I would like to know your reasoning on ranking the Puppeteer 2 and Weredad.
Certainly!
Both of those give me second hand embarrassment, and I retreat inside myself like a turtle when I watch them.
Weredad also has some of the crunchy animation, and similar to Dearest Family it depicts her family as overprotective and thinking they know what's best for Marinette. As MariChat episodes go, weredad just isn't my favorite. It's fine.
Puppeteer 2 along a similar vein, I am just not physically strong enough to watch the statue scene 🙈

will the rewrite contain any TNRing? >:3 could be a fun mechanic. maybe would be better placed in a separate au though.
bonus: AU where tigerstar is TNRd and returns to Tigerclan like why are we even fighting guys.. why don’t we all just hang out
If there's any TNR-ing, it'll be mostly a threat to BloodClan cats and the Warriors fleeing the destruction of the forest
It's weird how the Erins treat a cat being sterilized like it's an existential torture, while still trying to keep them on the same level as a normal housecat. It always ends up reading to me like being weirdly anti-TNR because of it
But also the Clans are so advanced that when I write about humans, they are going to have to be an existential threat on account of how advanced the cats are. The cats can want families, fall in love and want children, create tools and have culture, and yet humans are able to come along and alter their bodies without consent.
So I can't drop TNR in without overthinking it, and yet, I don't necessarily want to make TNR look bad because it's very necessary.
Though it is VERY funny to imagine Tigerstar getting snipped and then being like, "Fireheart's fine, actually. I overreacted tbh."

Episode 10: Tom Riddle: The Man, the Mystery, the Maniac
People who are subscribed to our podcast on the various streaming services will already know the episode is out, as it came out yesterday. Alas, I (Vinelle. This is Vinelle, making it clear who's to blame so The Carnivorous Muffin walks free) forgot to make the tumblr announcement post.
Oh well.
Join us in this half hour long episode as we start off talking about how Tom Riddle is a strange man who makes strange decisions, and end up contemplating what Star Wars would be like if JKR had written it.

star trek tos cuntiness ranking
for context i am 4 episodes into season 2
Spock- should come as a surprise to no one. i knew it from the moment he raised his eyebrow. and from his eyeshadow. my number one cunt.
Uhura- who else can pull off bright green hoop earrings and a red longsleeved minidress? no one (except for spock). did you see her in the mirrorverse episode? motherload of cunt.
Bones- eyebrow raise once again. always on the bridge for no reason. also he’s a doctor. incredible amount of grumpiness in the most sassy old man way ever. call him dr. leonard mccunt.
Chekov- only seen him in 3 episodes but he came out swinging. backtalks everyone. including any omnipotent beings he comes across. chekov’s gun? no. chekov’s cunt.
Kirk- could be cuntier but it is understandable when you see who he’s up against. throws himself against any and all enemies despite having a stun gun. tits always out. ass fat. james t. cunt.
Chapel- could serve more, understandable that she does not. she is a woman with a job. crushing on a gay man when uhura is right there. however she gets points for being a space nurse and having a full face of makeup the whole time. i’d say an average amount of cunt.
Sulu- a difficult decision, but he gets points for his eyeshadow. it’s not as much his lack of cunt as much as how much cuntiness everyone around him exudes. goofy lil’ guy. like to fence shirtless down the hall. also an average amount of cunt. basically tied with chapel.
Scotty- i’m sorry scotty truthers i love him dearly. unfortunately he is more wet cat man than cunt serving king. in love with his ship. getaway driver for the landing party. slightly less than average amount of cunt.
thank you for your time and consideration.

Tumblr media
Top 22 of 2022
It’s the moment you’ve been waiting for, folks. Fifty-two weeks of cold hard data measuring original posts, likes, reblogs, and searches, weighted and ranked. And it all ultimately comes down to this: not only is Stranger Things the #1 topic on Tumblr over this last year of data, but fans posted so much about Eddie Munson and Steve Harrington that they also made the list of Top Things.
Meanwhile, season 2B of the beloved animated series The Owl House aired, along with the first episode of the final season, which turned out to be a rollercoaster of coming out joy and absolute heartbreak. Evergreen favorites Critical Role’s Bells Hells, a mix of familiar and new faces, have spent the year adventuring around Marquet. And we don’t talk about Bruno, no, no, no, but Encanto fans sure do.
On the MCYT front, several new Minecraft SMP servers provided a ton of content for MCYT fans, treating them to new stories and character dynamics. This year was also marked by mourning as the community grieved the passing of one of their own—the popular streamer Technoblade.
In other gaming news, Pokémon Legends: Arceus and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have players catchin’ and battlin’ away. And over the past year, Deltarune players stocked up on bananas, while Genshin Impact players hoarded primogems to wish for their favorite banner characters.
Back on the small screen, folks have had a lot of emotions about the very gay pirate show Our Flag Means Death and the (somewhat sapphic) League of Legends animated series Arcane. House of the Dragon took us back to Westeros and really leaned into “complicated family dynamics,” while “complicated shipping dynamics” was the theme for Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir. And between Battinson and Batman: Wayne Family Adventures, it was a big year for a character with some serious emotional issues.
Finally, aesthetic bloggers rejoice! Cottagecore and Dark Academia are both on here. Halloween was big, which makes sense because ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Of course, this list wouldn’t be complete without BTS—some things don’t change. And to round us out, please remember to like, reblog, and thank our resident Artists on Tumblr, who continue to nourish us and our dashboards with their incredible creations. This is Tumblr’s Year In Review.

This Week in BL - new entries upset the rankings
Organized, in each category, with ones I'm enjoying most at the top.
April 2024 Wk 2
Tumblr media
Ongoing Series - Thai
City of Stars (Fri iQIYI) ep 11 of 12 - Like most Thai BL pulps, this show doesn’t have much story to it. But I'm discovering that what it does have I actually really enjoy. I love that the gay boys got to play matchmaker for a change and I like how just GAY they are. It's nice. Refreshing.
We Are (Weds GMMTV iQIYI) ep 1-2 of 16 - University ensemble BL featuring PondPhuwin, WinnySatang, AouBoom, MarcPawinPoon. I like it. It’s old school Thai BL, but having fun with itself and its tropes. I’m not expecting much, so I don’t mind it waffling. All the couples are comfy. Chemistry is okay. Friendships are nifty. I like Pond's floppy hair. We fine.
Two Worlds (Thurs IQIYI) ep 5 of 10 - What an extremely bloody episode. And bad guy turned out to be very bad indeed. And now pretty much everyone is dead. Nice kiss. Of course.
Tumblr media
Deep Night (Thurs iQiyi) ep 6 of 8 - It’s cute, they happy, not a ton happened. Random gratuitous bathing. As you do in BL. And I still think the sides should just end up in a thrupple
Only Boo! (Sun YouTube) ep 2 of 12 - Oh they very cute. Also very silly.
Tumblr media
1000 Years Old (Thurs iQIYI) ep 9 of 12 - No. NOT THE GUITAR. YES abandon guitar for the sniff test! Love this for them. And me. My most favorite trope defeated my least favorite trope. VICTORY!!!
Ongoing Series - Not Thai
Unknown (Taiwan Tues YouTube & Viki) ep 8 of 11 - It’s just so good. Baby went away, grew up, and learned how to become a temptation... and a husband.
Tumblr media
Gray Shelter AKA Gray Currents (Korea Thurs iQIYI) 1 of 5 eps - SooHyuk, only just surviving, reunites with YoonDae, his (brief) younger stepbrother who feels abandoned. They end up living together. The younger brother is played by Lee Jae Bin of Choco Milk Shake. OMG. STEPBROTHERS TROPE. Lucky me! Two in one season. Yay!!!! It's Korea so great visuals too. I shallow but yeah, this is great.
Living With Him AKA Kare no Iru Seikatsu (Japan Thurs Gaga) ep 1 of 10 - Kindly Ryota goes off to uni only to find his new roommate is his childhood bestie, Kazuhito. Kazuhito doesn’t have a girlfriend and Ryota tries to help him figure out why. Same director as Old Fashion Cupcake. It’s utterly charming. I am charmed. Also the framing is gorgeous (of course). Very stylish.
Love is Better the Second Time Around AKA Koi wo Suru nara Nidome ga Joto (Japan Weds Gaga) ep 6fin - I don’t know. Kind of a flat ending with the leads apart for most of it. I enjoyed this show but it never really hit with me.
Tumblr media
Summation
After a teen betrayal and resulting separation a reporter reunites with his first love. That love wants him back. I enjoyed the authenticity of a reunion romance explored in Japan's quintessentially contemplative yet surreal way. The juxtaposition of the tenderness of the sex scenes with this Japanese style of authenticity was oddly elegant but all in all this still fell a little flat for me. There's nothing objectively wrong with it, but in total the narrative felt sluggish and the main couple were just... stiff (in the wrong way). Frankly, I'd rather just rewatch Tokyo in April is. 8/10
Love is like a Cat (Korea Mon Viki) eps 3-4 of 12 - What is going on with this show? No, I get the plot. I just don't get the show or why I’m watching it. Annoying.
It's done, but I suck
What Did You Eat Yesterday Season 2 AKA Kinou Nani Tabeta? Season 2 (Japan Gaga) 10 eps
To Be Continued (Sat C3 Thailand grey) ep 7-8fin - I can't for the life of me find the final 2 episodes. Haven't had a real hunt, but yeah. No dice so far.
Tumblr media
It's airing but...
Takumi-kun Series 6: Nagai Nagai Monogatari (Japan Furritsubs) eps 1-? of 10 - I may wait and binge it.
Lady Boy Friends (Thai WeTV grey) 16 eps - reminds me a bit too much of Diary of Tootsies only high school. Not my thing. DNF unless it turns a corner and is truly amazing.
Kiseki Chapter 2 (Sun iQIYI) 6 eps - It’s so boring DNFed at 2.
Close Friend Season 3: Soju Bomb! (Weds iQIYI) 6 - The problem with situational comedy BL is it must be situational, comedic and a BL. This show gets 1 of 3 claims correct. 33% is not a passing grade. Dropped at 3.
Memory in the Letter (Thai WeTV) - only 4 eps, tell me if I should bother?
Next Week Looks Like This:
Tumblr media
4/18 At 25:00 in Alaska AKA 25 Ji Akasaka de (Japan Thurs Gaga) 10 eps - Yuki lands his first starring role in a BL drama alongside superstar Asami (previously his senior at uni). Said superstar suggests they form a sham relationship until filming concludes. As they actually begin to fall in love, the spotlight begins to burn. I think I've seen this before (joke) and also the trailer doesn't inspire confidence.
Still to Come in April
4/25 Boys Be Brave! AKA Roommates (Korea Thurs Viki) 8 eps - Trailer Jung Ki Sub is Kim Jin Woo's slacker friend - and secret crush. So when Ki Sub crashes at his place, his heart tingles to be near him everyday. But as the short stay turns into permanent mooch, how long can Jin Woo keep his true feelings under wraps and hold back from confessing?
4/26 My Stand-In (Thai iQIYI) 12 eps - adaptation of Chinese novel "Professional Body Double" by Shui Qiang Cheng. Stars Up (Lovely Writer) and Poom (Bake Me Please) directed by the same team as KP (not a recommendation IMHO - my biggest criticism of that show was the clashing directing styles). This one looks complicated, lemme try: Joe is a stuntman for famous actor Tong. Joe falls in love with Ming but Ming sees Joe as nothing more than a Tong-replacement. After learning this horrible truth, Joe dies. Joe then wakes up in the body of another man also named Joe. He manages to rebuild the same life as before—with the same people eventually re-meeting Ming. Ming wants Joe back but Joe doesn't understand why. But Ming seems to know what's going on and wants to give him some kind of explanation.
I'm exhausted just trying to describe the plot.
Knock-Knock Boys (Thai WeTV) - 4 college friends conspire to help their friend lose his virginity. Familiar faces like Seng (yes, Billy's previous pairing) and Best, news here. But will it actually air this month?
Upcoming BLs for 2024 are listed here. This list is not kept updated, so please leave a comment if you know something new or RP with additions.
NOTE: It looks like one of my personal favorites of last year Unintentional Love Story is getting a spin off!
THIS WEEK’S BEST MOMENT

Reverse Engineering the OIAR Tagging System
I'm not the first to theorise that the tagging system is important - this post is inspired by the person who noticed that Needles and Bonzo share both a CAT and an R tag.
This is an incomplete attempt to decode the entire system for theorising purposes. Unfortunately, I was not able to figure it out as thoroughly as I hoped but I'm sharing it here in hope others can make observations. Here is the table:
Tumblr media
For those who want a better look, or cannot see the image due to screen-reader use, here is a google document with the same table: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Wc4COCMHdwKz6N-KawvMOs4Y3k3W6Kq-NDhZ7brcRLg/edit?usp=sharing
So, my observations thus far:
CAT (probably short for categories)
There are four categories so far- 1, 2, 3 and 23.
Needles, both Bonzo statements and the very first statement are the only CAT 1s so far.
Needles and Bonzo are likely to be major recurring characters, so this could suggest the creature in the first statement (which to me gives distortion vibes) may also be.
Alternatively, CAT could suggest danger. Needles and Bonzo are serial killers, while the CAT 3 statements tend to refer to very old or contained objects, so perhaps these are less dangerous? The only gap in this theory is InkSoul being CAT 3, which makes little sense given their livestreaming. Unless... could InkSoul be dead?
Generally, but not absolutely, newer statements tend to be closer to CAT 1, and older statements closer to CAT 3. Bonzo and Needles both referred to statements taken days before the episode dropped. Again, this isn't an absolute rule and the first statement is again the odd one out.
What I absolutely cannot figure out is CAT 23. I thought it was a typo until I encountered it again for Ep 11. It clearly means something special. Unlike for the R system, I don't think it means between categories 2 and 3, because the statements we get are both quite important. We'll probably have to wait for more episodes to figure this one out.
R (probably short for rank)
This is the one I'm more sure about. I believe it indicates 'grades' of some measure, like school grades. A is best, B is after that, and so on.
I think AB and BC are borderline grades.
Ep 3 and 4 (plant boy and violin man) do not have an R tag. My working theory is that this indicates the statements are below a grade C.
So what does R actually grade? Again, it could be importance (assuming that isn't what CAT means), or usefulness to the institute, but then why is our known external Mr Bonzo only a B?
So far we have no rank As and only one rank AB - the Red Canary statement.
If there's one thing I'm certain of, it's that the first rank A statement is going to be very big indeed.
Conclusion
I believe category and rank indicates any two out of the following: importance, danger, level of OIAR control, level of usefulness to OIAR, certainty of being true, amount of evidence. Ultimately, we need more statements to be sure.
For whatever two measures these systems represent, I am fairly certain that a category closer to one and a rank closer to A represents a better grade on that measure, with the exception of CAT 23 which I think is its own thing. The ultimate purpose of this post is to encourage people to pay attention to these tags more as I am certain they contain clues, and if anyone smarter than me can spot them as more episodes come out, then great.
PS: As I was just about to post this I had a sudden idea as to what CAT 23 *might* be. It could be dimensional cracks. This is clearly what's going on in the magnus institute (with the dice statement being exempt because it was taken before the institute burnt down) and it's possible the graveyard in Ep 11 also serves this function. This is pure speculation however.

I think Agent / Subject / Catalyst are the three categories [CAT 1-3] in the case numbers.
Bear with me.
So aside from the dates, the case numbers are split in 3 parts, right:
CAT 1-3 (rarely combination of 2 numbers) -> category
*R (-> rank) A/B/C (sometimes combination of 2 letters from ABC)
DPHW (4 digit number)
* the case numbers for episodes #3 and #4 don't have the R for some reason
This is very much taking into account/based on the stuff from the ARG klaus.xls document btw, which has these exact 3 columns & features some of the episodes' cases where these match up exactly with the case numbers. [if you're interested, it's #2 line 80; #3 line 64; #5 line 75; #7 line 77]
Both category and rank are divided into 3 options, with some exceptions of cases having 2 applied at the same time. So now episode 9 gave us another nice group of three. And I thought, hm, maybe those ideas, Agent, Subject, and Catalyst, could match up with one these as a classification of the cases. And I think it does.
Based on the cases we had so far, I think category 1 is Agent, category 2 Subject, and category 3 Catalyst.
In my tmagp paranoia document with all my notes, I made a table sorting the cases according to the categories for a better overview and to be able to maybe spot similarities:
Tumblr media
Let me explain what I think the classifications mean.
1 - Agent.
That's the most self-explanatory one I think. I'm not the first to make the comparison between avatar and agent, and not the first to point out that Needles acts like a TMA avatar.
Agent then is an active purveyor of fear/terror. someone deliberatly acting in such a way to spread it, to scare people. It is the person themself directly and possibly willingly causing the 'unsettling experiences' and spreading fear. Needles is the prime example.
It doesn't work quite so well with #1A, but I'd say the "he" that she interacts with acts as an agent, with him luring her to the cemetary and the unsettling way he is described there, but more importantly, with the laughter that follows, that he seems to enjoy what's happening, her fear. Her fear that's caused by him.
2. Subject.
Subject I would describe with "being subjected to something" or that "something just happens". A subject to fear. Maybe as a victim of sorts, but that's not quite it. Anyway, I think the cases in category 2 group together easily:
What's interesting is that all of the cases feature in some way a person entering a space and being affected by it/by something in a certain space. Or at least it is centred on a certain space. they are subject(ed) to the space.
In #1B it's the TMI ruins, in #3 the garden, in #5 the cinema, in #7 the charity store, and in #8 the service station. The person in #8 himself blames it explicitly on the place, the architecture, on the space he entered.
3. Catalyst.
Catalyst, I would argue, means a moveable object that works to spread fear. That is, a person with a certain object--or artifact, if you will--working together: it's a person with the object as a catalyst, it's the object through a person spreading fear.
To put it more concisely, it's cases of a person carrying an artifact and through them, allowing the artifact to affect other people.
We have the violin and the dice in episodes #4 and #9. In both cases the people who pick them up spread harm/misfortune by using them. In both cases the person first harms themself before learning they can/how they can instead spread it to others.
In episode #1B, which was in both category 2 and 3, RedCanary takes that wooden box/old wooden thing home with them. And it's that box, taking that box, that's linked to what's happening to them. Or what they do afterwards. Because we don't actually know what happens to RedCanary or what RedCanary goes on to do afterwards. We've kinda assumed that they just die, but maybe not? Anyway, my point is, old wooden box thing = artefact/catalyst.
Episode #2 is the biggest hole in this theory I think. Without knowing I probably would've put it as category 1, agent, with Ink5oul as the agent. But instead it's rather that the tattoo acts as a catalyst, through the artist. So far it rather has seemed to affect the artist herself rather than other people through her, except for the confrontation with her roommate. But, as @amelie-isnt-french pointed out, we don't know what she moved on to do afterwards. Maybe it would go on to affect other people. Maybe she just hasn't learned how to do so yet.
Or maybe affecting other people is not even a criteria at all. Maybe it's enough that the artifact comes into contact with a person and affecting them.
I'm aware that this theory isn't without flaws; both cases in episode #1, and esp. #2 don't fit into this as well as the others. But I think it still works.
That being said, I can go even more crazy.
You know that other ARG document, the chdb.xlsx, with the list of the gifted children tested at the Magnus Institute, the one that features Sam and Gerry, the one that's possibly the one Sam mentions in episode #8 through which he found Gerry.
Now my question on looking at this document, or you know, one of my questions, was what does the chdb stand for. I figured db might probably be database. the c could be children, because that's who were tested and listed. but the h? I had the stray thought at some point that it might be host. which I found very unsettling, but also didn't really work as a whole, like "Children Host Data Base"? nah.
But what if the C is not for Children. What if it's for Catalyst. Because Catalyst Host Data Base suddenly makes a lot of sense. We know that the TMAGP Magnus Institute is interested in "supernaturally active items" as the episode 9 statement giver tells us. They have been collecting artefacts/catalysts. Cf. also that old wooden box RedCanary found in its ruins. So they might have in the children been looking for potential hosts for them.

SPOILERS!!! REFERENCES AND EASTER EGGS IN F&C ep. 7: THE STAR
Let's see what this episode has in store.
Tumblr media
This is an alternate universe where Simon was killed by vampires before he found Marceline. Even the scientific parasite in his breast pocket looks like it has been drained of blood.
Tumblr media
Our Simon demonstrating his survival skills. We never got to see him dealing with vampires in his own universe, but presumably he ran into them a few times and is familiar with their weaknesses.
Tumblr media
These kinds of vampire minions last appeared in the Stakes miniseries. They are a lot more varied in design now. Also, the architecture of this world is interesting. It looks like gothic palaces have been built into the roots of decaying skyscrapers.
Tumblr media
Bonnie's crew has several of the familiar vampire hunting tools from Stakes, including stake launchers and garlic bombs. They also douse some of the vampires in holy water, which was previously shown to harm demons in the episode Dad's Dungeon. This is the first time it's been seen working on vampires.
Tumblr media
Marshall Lee has a Hambo mirror decoration. In the prime universe Hambo was Marceline's toy teddy bear, given to her by Simon.
Tumblr media
Martin is an interesting choice for Bonnie's crew. In this universe it seems like he never had a son, since the humans presumably never left Ooo for the Islands. It also seems like he's a better person here, willing to risk his life to follow Fionna's noble lead. He has the same jacket as he had in The Visitor, which several people identified when we first saw Fionna wearing it in the trailer.
Tumblr media
The cat on Bonnie's mug is Timmy from the episode The Pajama War. The fact she broke it is surely the most heartbreaking loss of this episode :(
Tumblr media
The other member of the team is Huntress Wizard, who looks to be a human in this universe for some reason. I don't think Huntress Wizard was originally human in the prime universe.
Tumblr media
Baby Finn snuck into this universe, and by the end of the episode was left to be raised by self-repairing battletank single gay dad PepButt. I'm sure he'll turn out fine.
Tumblr media
The Cosmic Owl has been flagged up on Scarab's arrest list for "profiteering". Perhaps his neglect of his duties during Hoots has been discovered, or perhaps this is a new crime.
Tumblr media
There are loads of new genderswapped characters in this scene. I've already reblogged a post listing all the ones we've spotted so far, so refer to that for details. The most significant is Ms. Abadeer. According to the credits, her first name is Hana.
Tumblr media
Even Billy has been slain by vampires.
Tumblr media
Princess Bubblegum calls Fionna a dillweed, her go-to insult from the episode Hot Diggity Doom. It's good to hear some Adventure Time swearing from time to time despite the liberties they're taking with the TV-14 rating.
Tumblr media
Enter the titular character! Like the other members of the Vampire Court from Stakes, Marceline has taken a new name from the ranks of the Major Arcana of a tarot deck: The Star. Huntress mentions that she is the last member of the court, having outlived everyone beside the Vampire King himself. The fact she can fly suggests she killed and sucked The Fool's soul despite him being a fellow member of the court.
Tumblr media
She is seen using her soul-sucking demon powers, inherited from Hunson, on Martin. She also demonstrates that she has no problem drinking blood in this universe, despite the fact vampires can eat the colour red.
Tumblr media
Bonnie and The Star have such an interesting dynamic in this episode. It seems like fate is seeking to entwine them, but this has been twisted into a relationship of mutual hatred. Yet The Star is furious when a minion suggests she kill Bonnie, and Bonnie fails to take an opportunity to kill The Star later on. Something is keeping these two immortals in an eternal dance, even in a universe where they are arch nemeses.
Tumblr media
A lot of this series has centred around Simon's relationship to fatherhood, and realising that he is a better dad than some of the others he's met will likely end up being a key moment in his recovery.
Tumblr media
I believe this section was boarded by Hannah K. You've probably all seen her famous Bubbline stakeplay drawing. This scene must have been fun to draw.
Tumblr media
I really enjoyed the parallel of Gary and Marshall getting their climactic kiss while Bonnie and The Star fell together to their deaths, demonstrating that the girls' fall was just as gay as the boys kissing, but in a very different way. We also know from interviews that Gary and Marshall's relationship is supposed to parallel that of early Bubbline in the prime universe. Perhaps Princess Bubblegum got Marceline out of a bad deal with Hunson Abadeer, shortly after their first meeting at Marceline's concert, and that's when they first hit it off.
Tumblr media
The dream in this episode's credits features Marceline's house; a home that neither The Star nor this Marshall Lee have ever known.

Cat Ranks Every ML Episode For the Third Time (S1-S5)
Why I keep doing this to myself, we may never know. But I think it’s fun to see how episodes hold up over time in my mind. Which ones lose their luster and which ones hold their own. Anyway, this is broken up into tiers because rating them is hard and makes things complicated. This list is about vibes, okay? And if you don’t like where I’ve ranked some of these episodes, too bad. Go make your own fucking list. This one is mine.
S Tier aka “SUBLIME!”
The creams of the crop, the best of the best according to me, my all time favorites, chef’s kisses all around. I love all of these episodes. They hold special places in my heart. If I could only grab 10 (11?) episodes in a fire, these would be it. You get the idea.
1.     Riposte
Over time, I have come to accept that the umbrella scene clouds my judgment in ranking Origins II so high year after year. Don’t get me wrong, Origins II is still in my top 5, but I’ve finally embraced the fact that Riposte is my favorite episode. It’s just top tier Ladrien, and Kagami was and is such a treat and a wonderful addition to the cast. If this episode is ever on, I will always stop what I’m doing to watch it. Just immaculate vibes.
2.     Protection
If you followed me at all during s5, you should have seen this coming. I talk about this episode a lot as my stand out of s5, and honestly, I will probably talk about it for a while longer yet. It’s like the opposite of Riposte in a way, but also in the best way. The entirety of the pajama picnic set-up was the absolute sweetest thing anyone has ever done for anyone ever, and you cannot convince me otherwise.
3.     Emotion
Honestly, this episode surprised me with how much it sticks out in my mind. Other than thinking we should have had this episode sooner (or just Felix’s return sooner), I can say that the episode itself is very good. We finally get to see Felix’s motives/intentions come out. We get the sweet Adrigaminette we always crave. Gabriel doesn’t exist for like five minutes. Marinette gives a heartfelt speech about Adrien. Honestly, this episode slaps, and I will not deny it.
4.     Origins II
Okay, okay, look how she has fallen from grace. I still have a lot of love for this episode, and the umbrella scene will forever be #1 in my heart. But I have finally allowed myself to see past my umbrella scene blinders and realize that the episode itself outside of that scene is fine. It’s just fine. Take out the umbrella scene, and I’d rank this episode in like the upper middle probably. But since the umbrella scene is there, she’s still top 5 for me.
5.     Gorizilla
This episode hits a sweet jackpot for me because it’s primarily Adrinette and Ladrien, and I don’t know if I will ever score this much again in this show. It has my favorite Ladrien moment of all time. Definitely a top 10 overall moment for this show for me.
6.     Simon Says
I feel like at this point you all should just know that if it has Adrinette or Ladrien, I’m going to love it. That’s just the rules. Also, Gabriel almost died in this episode, and what a blessing that would have been for all of us.
7.     Strike Back
Best season finale by far. By faaaaaar. Like if I had to rank the season finales, and I did, I’d put this one at the top.
8.     Chat Blanc
This one has moved up for me. If any of you recall the last two rankings I did a few years ago, this one sat in the teens, but I think as time has gone on, my initial intrigue for other episodes has diminished, but this one has stayed solid. I hope that post-reveal love square is doing alright in this universe. I hope they beat up Adrien’s dad and sent him to jail, then went home and made out in Gabriel’s stupid butterfly cave.
9.     Evillustrator
The OG MariChat. I’ve said before that I started this fandom primarily as a MariChat stan until I watched the umbrella scene, then Adrinette took over my life. Evillustrator was why. Nathaniel was just okay in this episode, he gives nice guy vibes, but Idk I enjoyed the MariChat interactions, and while they’ve certainly come a long way since then, I still appreciate the nostalgia of seeing their first interaction knowing how far they go down the line. This episode coupled with those memories knowing what I know now about them just makes me feel warm and fuzzy.
10.  Stormy Weather
This is another one for the nostalgia books. Stormy Weather was baby’s first Miraculous episode. Does the nostalgia I hold cloud my judgment at ranking this one so high in compared to the other bangers underneath it? Yeah, probably. But I can’t bring myself to rank it lower. It’s still one of my favorite s1 episodes because I think it’s just a good introduction to the show. All of the dynamics are in peak form, and Stormy Weather is just peak akuma design imo. Sue me.
11.  Oblivio
Oblivio might be outside my top 10, but when I was originally ranking these again, I used a tier maker list, and Oblivio is the last one in S tier for me. I feel like it’s self-explanatory though. This episode was that bitch in s3 right next to Chat Blanc. I just couldn’t put it in A tier.
Okay, so I think for most of the middle I’m gonna skip all of the preamble, but I might give a comment here or there about why certain episodes are where they are.
A Tier aka “We love to see them”
Overall, these episodes are great, and I love them. They’re not quite the crème de la crème, but they’re still good.
12.  Glaciator
It’s the LadyNoir cheek kiss for me.
13.  Elation
Self-explanatory. I don’t hate MariChat, guys! I like them!
14.  Revolution
This episode honestly surprised me, but tbh I really liked it. A lot of shit happened, and most of it was incredible.
15.  Mr. Pigeon 72
Having canon confirmation that Adrien had a crush on Marinette in this episode just makes it better.
16.  Dark Cupid
The KISS
17.  Despair Bear
Adrinette slow dancing uwu
18.  Glaciator 2
MariChat shenanigans and also LadyNoir communication. This episode set up a loooot of what we got in s5 from the love square
19.  Risk
Adrien confiding in Marinette got me weak
20.  Volpina
Honestly, this season finale gagged me when I first watched it, and the fandom was exploding with intrigue. No other finale has sparked so much discussion, fan theory, and excitement as this one.
21.  Kwamibuster
I’m a Marinette stan, what are you gonna do?
22.  Mayura
What do you mean Adrien wasn’t in love with Marinette until the end of s3???
23.  New York Special
Adrien and Marinette are two halves of a whole idiot, thanks for coming to my TedTalk
24.  Deflagration
LADRIEN CRUMB IN THIS ECONOMY??
25.  Time Tagger
Alix is my favorite classmate
26.  Gamer
The lucky charm!!!!!!
27.  Lady Wifi
Chat Noir closed the door like a gentleman
28.  Gang of Secrets
This episode revived my faith in this show
29.  The Collector
Started s2 strong
30.  Origins I
Where I’d likely rank Origins II as well if it weren’t for the umbrella scene. They’re good episodes.
31.  Heart Hunter
Honestly, this is here mostly because of the Adrigaminette. Actually, it’s entirely here because of them.
32.  Determination
He’s in love your honor
33.  Sandboy
I just think he’s neat, and everyone’s nightmares were hilarious
34.  Evolution
Again, I love Alix Kubdel, and watching Hawkmoth nearly kill his own ass out of greed and stupidity was amazing.
35.  Backwarder
I’m a Fu stan. I miss him.
B Tier aka “Always a good time”
I have less to say about these. They’re good, and I like them. They just don’t have the wow-factor to make them stand out in my brain. Or they have something about them that prevents me from ranking them higher.
36.  The Mime
37.  Frightningale
38.  Passion
39.  Gabriel Agreste
40.  Style Queen
41.  Transmission
I would have ranked this one higher if it weren’t for the B plot of this arc (aka Scarabella and Kitty Noire). If it was focused on the Adrinette, I would have shot this episode up way higher, but overall, this episode wasn’t as good as part 2 of this arc. The fight was boring, and them giving up their Miraculous still doesn’t make the most sense or even leave a lasting impact. It felt like filler bc they needed something to go around the Adrinette development.
42.  Startrain
43.  Kuro Neko
44.  Jubilation
45.  Prime Queen
46.  Christmaster
47.  Ikari Gozen
48.  Oni-Chan
49.  Felix
50.  Multiplication
51.  Furious Fu
52.  Catalyst
53.  Psychomedian
54.  Miraculer
55.  Timebreaker
56.  Copycat
57.  The Dark Owl
58.  Mr. Pigeon
59.  Sapotis
60.  Zombizou
61.  Syren
62.  Pretension
63.  Derision
64.  Ephemeral
65.  Animan
66.  Confrontation
67.  The Puppeteer
C Tier aka “These are fine”
These episodes likely have aspects that I really enjoy and aspects that I don’t particularly care for. In the end, the good and the bad end up balancing out, so these live here.
68.  Perfection
69.  Reverser
70.  Optigami
71.  Gamer 2.0
72.  Befana
73.  Troublemaker
74.  Revelation
75.  Party Crasher
76.  Collusion
77.  Ladybug
78.  Reflekta
79.  Lies
80.  Weredad
81.  Sentibubbler
82.  Illusion
83.  Intuition
84.  Anansi
85.  Darkblade
86.  The Bubbler
87.  The Pharaoh
88.  Kung Food
89.  Pixelator
90.  Rogercop
91.  Guitar Villain
92.  Princess Fragrance
93.  Gigantitan
94.  Antibug
If anyone remembers from my first ranking (and maybe second), this episode used to be in the bottom 10, but I’ve softened on it over time. The LadyNoir partnership in it is just too good, and Chloe has disappointed me in worse ways since this.
95.  Desperada
96.  The Puppeteer 2
97.  Representation
98.  Adoration
They really robbed Marinette of her confession moment. We’ve been waiting 4.5 seasons for that, and that’s what we got? Lowest Adrinette moment of the season tbh
99.  Robostus
100. Reflekdoll
101. Sole Crusher
102. Destruction
103.  Guiltrip
104.  Hack-san
105.  Rocketear
Tell Nino Adrien is Chat Noir!
106.  Qilin
107.  Dearest Family
108.  Reunion
109. Horrificator
110. Penalteam
111. Silencer
D Tier for “Dumb”
Now we are getting into the territory of boring or just generally bad, or things that I don’t care about. These are episodes that I don’t have a desire to rewatch, and will likely always skip unless I’m just in a really particular mood.
112.  Conformation
113. Santa Claws
114.  Simpleman
115.  Truth
116.  Queen Banana
117.  Migration
118.  Malediktator
119.  Mega Leech
120.  Crocoduel
121.  Bakerix
E Tier aka “Awful”
We have reached the bottom 10. I have them in two tiers because some of these episodes are worse than others, or my reasons for hating them are worse than others.
122. Captain Hardrock
This episode isn’t so much about the episode itself, but more about the fandom reaction and pushback I received for daring to be indifferent to it when it came out. I will never forget Birthdaygate, you sons of bitches. I hope you enjoy your cringe lord campfire guitar boy in all of his mediocre glory. If it weren’t for the stans, I’d likely have put this one in the bottom middle somewhere. I was and still am indifferent to it.
123. Frozer
Stemming from birthdaygate, I just didn’t care for this episode as a whole. The double-date, the pitting girls against each other for a boy, the contrived LadyNoir conflict. The ice powerup is cool, I guess.
124.  Animaestro
I still cannot believe that Thomas inserted himself into this universe with his whole confident chest just to bitch and complain about how underappreciated he feels while working on this show. Like, sir, get a therapist.
125.  Stormy Weather 2
Arguably, this episode isn’t terrible. It’s just not necessary imo. It’s just a clipshow recapping the previous 2.5 seasons of info, and for someone who has been following this show the whole time, it’s just redundant and doesn’t add much. It could have been redeemed if Adrien had rubbed his braincells together a little harder at the end, but alas, we left with net-zero development.
126.  Chameleon
I feel like anyone that knows me, knows my feelings about this episode by now. I mean, I wrote *checks AO3* 160,000 words across various fics because of this episode because everyone in it is struck dumb with an idiot ray, and I just could not. I’ve cooled off a lot on this episode, but not enough to rank it out of the bottom 10.
127.   Queen Wasp
So, while I enjoyed Style Queen and found Malediktator meh, Queen Wasp is the sour middle of this trio arc. I have many more thoughts on Chloe’s character throughout the show, and maybe I’ll talk about them more later, but they spent several episodes in s2 trying to make Chloe sympathetic, then this episode happened, and in some regards, you can still argue her mom sucks, and she’s just a young girl, blah, blah. However, I don’t see a reason why she got her Miraculous back after this. If it were up to me, I’d have brought in Zoe after this arc and made her the new bee as far back as s2 because Chloe did not deserve her moment in the s2 finale after this. And I was rooting for Queen Bee to happen back in s2. A lot of people were. But again, as I mentioned in my s5 episode ranking post, I think the writers just realized around this time that it was more plot convenient for Chloe to be mean. I think having her be a hero was just to sell merchandise, and maybe they did play around with the idea of redeeming her, but when they started thinking about where to take things, it served the plot better for her to be mean. So, that’s what they went with. Which is sad, because I do think they could have given her more potential, but I mean, we’ve all watched the episodes after this one. Choices were made.
F Tier aka “Why?”
These are episodes that make me irrationally angry when I think about them for too long.
128.  Miracle Queen
I will attempt to not be too wordy on these last 4, and especially this episode, I feel like I’ve voiced my opinion on it numerous times. If Queen Wasp bought the wood to make Chloe’s character coffin in s2, Miracle Queen was the finished product. And don’t get me started on Fu.
129.  Feast
In my other two rankings this episode used to be my least favorite because HOW COULD THEY DO MY BOY FU LIKE THAT? Honestly, I feel like his mistake was a plotline that they started, realized they didn’t have room to explore, so they just threw something together to cut it off. I think that’s also why they made Fu lose his memories in the s3 finale, then replaced him with a worse knock-off in s4 just to avoid elaborating on it all together. They knew what they did. People have (incorrect) opinions on Fu as a mentor to Marinette, but are we really gonna sit here and act like Su Han is a better one? Is anyone willing to tell me with their full chest that Su Han is a good character? Or a better character than Fu? You can’t. And if you think you can, you’re a liar. Idk, the LadyNoir shenanigans redeem this episode a little bit, but I have not forgiven them.
130. Re-Creation
I have a lot of mixed feelings about this finale. As an end to the Agreste arc, it doesn’t feel satisfying at all (to me). I think my feelings for this episode are going to have to marinate over the next season and see what they end up doing with it. What does Gabriel’s brave new world look like? What are the after-effects of his wish? I just think that overall, it’s a weird choice to let the villain get what he wants and paint it as a good thing. Because we’ve spent the whole show rooting for Ladybug and Chat Noir, the heroes, but in the end, you just let them lose? You let the bad guy make his wish? Just because it was about a main character’s mommy? Yall couldn’t think of any other alternative? Like idk, making Gabriel go to therapy and move the fuck on? Yall spent all this time on GabeNath in prior seasons, and even made a point to show that Adrien was fine with it. Then yall didn’t do anything with that? No?
I dunno. I’m not mad about Lilamoth bc we all saw that coming, and I don’t even know that I’m entirely mad at this episode. I honestly, don’t know how to feel about it. I do know that I would not have ended it that way, if it were me, and I stand by it not being a good ending. It maybe doesn’t infuriate me like s3 did, but overall, I just don’t think it wrapped up s5 and the Agreste plotline very well at all. And again, s6 maybe continue to tie up loose ends, or it may move on and pretend the ends aren’t loose at all. You never know with ML.
131.  Wishmaker
Okay, so this one has lost favor in retrospect given the follow-up in s5. I wasn’t as pissed at the time that this episode aired because I told myself to wait and see what happened. Well, we saw what happened, and BOY! Like, am I secretly pleased they wrote in a reason to write blue boy out of the show for a while, sure, but can we just revisit the fact that he LIED TO HER FACE about the biggest secret she has. The secret she dumped him over? She trusted him, and he turned around and LIED to her about it, then in s5 he doesn’t even get punished for it. “Oh, but he has to leave-” and who does that punish? His annoying stans? He went and traveled the world with his dad and ended up learning Mirakungfu, and Marinette wasn’t even mad at him for LYING TO HER FACE about blowing her BIGGEST FUCKING SECRET. Blue boy stans can miss me. I wasn’t sorry to see him leave, and he deserved way more pushback than he got. Glad to know lying is only bad when it’s a young girl looking for attention and not when your ex-boyfriend crosses your boundaries and then lies about it.
Anyway, I’m gonna leave it at that because I’m getting too heated. So, there you go to the 4 whole people who will read all of this. As always, if you disagree with the ranking, uhh spend 4 days making your own damn tier list. If you agree with my rankings and want to gush/vent about it, feel free to send me an ask. Additionally, if you’d like the reasoning behind any of the episodes I didn’t comment on or just want me to elaborate on, feel free to ask about those too. Or don’t. I dunno. Live your life.

Note
Sorry if this is obvious but where do you find the category and ranks of the statements?
They're at the top of each episode description, before the content warnings! The bit that goes "CAT3RB4622-17092023-14032024"
CAT[1/2/3] = category
R[A/B/C] = rank
Four number string = DPHW
First date = when the case happened
Second date = when the OIAR filed it
(Since I'm an obsessive nerd I've also been keeping a spreadsheet with a breakdown of this info for each episode, which is why I've been able to spot some patterns)

Are we dealing with alchemists looking for The Philosopher's Stone?
(I will be referencing partially to the ARG, most importantly to the so called Klaus sheet that has german version on categories the OIAR team is using, and some light spoiler to The Magnus Archives, so beware).
We're four episodes in and cross-referencing each episode so far, there seems to be few things that connect most of them:
an orchestrator
a medium
an obsession
a transformation
Each episode so far mentions some type of third party being involved in the incident: Harriet Winstead mentions a "consultant" that was supposed to help her see Arthur, RedCanary mentions getting harrased by an anonymous stalker, Daria commissions Ink5oul for a tattoo, Dr Samuel Webber mentions seeing his dead wife "Maddie" who stops him from tampering with the transformation (could be a hallucination, but could also be somebody using his delirioum to impersonate her) and today we've got a mention of a "giftgiver" who gave The Violinist the Violin.
Additionally each incident mentions some type of specific medium the characters came into contact with: The Box, The Violin, The Ink (cross referenced in Klaus sheet from the ARG), The Garden (as in plants in the garden). The exception being the Harriet, but we don't know yet what "caused" ressurection of Arthur. This is important, because in TMA items and "mediums" weren't actually all that common, it was very often stressed that relics were medium for the fears to use directly (with people only doing their bidding), not to be handled by others as a medium.
Lastly each episode talks obsession and/or transformation and oh boy, let me tell you about bunch of guys historically obsessed with tranforming stuff through different mediums:
Tumblr media
"It's not very suprising, alchemical symbols are everywhere throughout the podcast!" you might say. True, but let's take into consideration, what excactly is a goal of an alchemist? Well the answer is quite simple and there is actually three of them. The Three Goals of Alchemy are:
To turn base metals into noble ones
To discover the recipe for a Philosopher's Stone
To find the Elixir of Life that gives eternal youth and defies death
All of them refer to some type of recipie of method, so where are the recipies? Under our own noses. The recipies are the DPHW catalogue and the database Freddie is sending the incident reports to is an alchemical cookbook! Each entry is categorized something like that:
CAT$$$R&&#### - theme (specification) -/- subtheme [medium]
Some specifications:
$ - are a conbination of numbers 1, 2 and 3. They do not always appear in threes, sometimes it's just 3, sometimes 12 (as in 1 and 2) so forth. These has been widely theorized to be related to the The Tria Prima, a group of three materials which occupy a position of prominence in alchemy: Sulphur(🜍), Mercury(☿) and Salt(🜔) or as they are also characterized Soul, Mind and Body. If we assign each of them a number with 1 being Soul, 2 being Mind and 3 being body, they so far align with the main "components" of each incident or realms they deal in.
Tumblr media
R - either appears or not, it was theorized this is a RANK and that previous files were simply misfiled by Sam, but to me it also could be REGIA as in Aqua Regia (🜆) where we are to assume the R was added to the previous element (Aqua (🜄) + Regia (R)). The meaning behind assigning some some incidents the rank of regia has yet to be explained though.
& - these are letters C, BC, B, AB, A and S signifying a rank (or rang in the Klaus sheet) . Lets ignore that S for a second, but they seem to be stages and half stages, well there can't possibly a concept of four stages in alchemy? Let me introduce you to the Magnum Opus (Great Work). Basically each alchemical project went through four stages: nigredo (black), albedo (white), citrinitas (yellow) and rubedo (red) with rubedo specifically signifying a great discovery was made and Magnum Opus was a success, but it does not necessairly mean an alchemical goal was reached.
Tumblr media
To summarize, numbers one C-A signify stage of the project, with S, that appears once on mostly redacted cell in the Klaus sheet, signifying that not only the final stage was reached, but the project has been a success.
Tumblr media
This could mean a finished Magnum Opus is out there, developed in the field of the Soul and related to the mysterous Mr. B.
# - these numbers are still a mystery, I do have some theories myself, but to summaries I think they are grades and some type of combination (I think it's either 9999, 0000 (as in all 10s) or perhaps 7777 (7 being the most important alchemical number)). Basically a specific combination could imply the specific discovery could be categorized as a Philosopher's Stone. What that could mean for the narrative? We will see, but I suspect it's an alchemical equivalent to an eldritch nuke in this universe.
Last thing to support my theory, the OIAR logo. The lion and the unicorn are obviously symbols for the United Kingdom, as this is a government office, and the words undearneath are "we will not falter" (probably reference to the paranormal incidents they deal with) the rest though?
Tumblr media
Alchemical symbols for Salt, Mercucry and Sulphur are right there, all encompassed by an upside-down version of The Philosopher's Stone symbol; The Greatest Magnum Opus:
Tumblr media
As to what the Magnum Opus are in TMAGP, each incident has an item associated with it, I noticed that the characters do not get corrupted by people directly this season, but through the use of items like ink, instruments, plants.

You have to be honest with yourself. The reason you like reverser so much is because ladybug calls scardy cat Noir "Kitty Kitty Kitty" over to her when he's scared to go up the stairs. The reason why season 2 is so beloved is that it's the season where they have the most pet names for one another. It's also why season 3 is so hated it has the least pet names used. Season 4 has an uptick in pet names between them and season 5 also has a lot. We gotta stop kidding ourselves and start rating episodes by how many times these two call each other adorable nicknames. It makes ranking episodes way easier!

What R# Means: The ABC's of Fear.
The grading system used by the OIAR is one of TMAGP's more central mysteries. The show is rife with administrative work that's obfuscated even to the employees that assign each case's rating.
I have my own theory about DPHW that I think is proving more and more likely each episode, but as of yet I don't think a comprehensive theory on CAT# or R# has been given. CAT# is still proving a hard to crack but I now think I can take a strong stab at the meaning behind R#.
Spoilers for TMAGP 1-7 below the cut.
For the people who aren't keeping close track of this I'll break down how those terms are used. Each incident the OIAR assesses is assigned a case number in the following format CAT#R#DPHW. CAT, short for Category, is assigned a value of 1, 2, 3, or any combination of those three digits (12, 13, etc.). R, short for Rank, are graded C, BC, B, AB, A, or S (potentially AS but it's not come up). For DPHW each letter is a category itself and replaced with a digit from 0-9 for its grading. So there are 6 separate statistics that the OIAR uses to assess each incident.
If I'm correct about DPHW it's a ranking based on the qualities the incident presents. That's obviously very valuable information. Because of how CAT# is formatted we know it's likely three non-mutually exclusive facets. I had some idea about what it could be but it's proving quite tricky to nail down.
However it's R# that is the topic of today's post and it's something I've had a few ideas on before. We know can assume from its formatting it's a linear scale. C is the "worst/weakest/etc." while S is the "best/strongest/etc.". Initially, I thought that R# was simply a straight forward ranking of potency or threat. Higher the rank, spookier the incident. Very early on that seemed like a strong idea. It was quickly disproven but I then had the idea that Rank was instead the scale of the effect. Higher the rank, wider the incident. Also quickly disproven.
Now I'm thinking it's graded on how hard it is to deny an incident's supernatural nature. Simply put, an outside observer can more readily find a believable rational explanation for an incident of lower rank than of higher rank. Either via their own conviction to believe the supernatural isn't real, or based on the story the OIAR cooks up to explain it.
For that to make sense it needs to tick two boxes. It needs to be able to be pre-assigned to an incident as all CAT#R#DPHW's seem to be, and it needs to be useful information to track. As they're operating under the assumption that CAT#R#DPHW's can be pre-assigned then they're operating under the assumption that each type of incident is relatively stable. Meaning that the likelihood that it can be rationally explained is also relatively stable. Tick 1. There is also a really strong reason for the OIAR to use this as a grade. They're the Office of Incident Assessment and Response, the Response Department might be dead but it was a part of the initial plan. Grading each incident on how likely they are to cause concern should the details go public is very useful for deciding how to approach any given case. Tick 2.
It being useful is all well and good but it does also need to have some evidence so let's look at our highest ranked incident to this point: CAT23RAB2155 - Transformation (Eye) -/- Trespass. A man grew eyes over his body. That's pretty tricky to explain away as a medical mystery. On the other end of the scale we've got CAT2RC1157 - Dolls (Watching), or CAT2RC3338 -Agglomeration (Miscellany) -/- Congregation†. Just a creepy doll and some crappy antiques. I think of all the incidents the one that's the least immediate fit is CAT3C7494 - Collection (Blood) -/- Musical. Most of that incident is very easy to slot in here. "It's just a violin that has sharp strings, so what?". But it's also a violin that made some people eat some other people. However, mass hysteria events do get reported every so often IRL and do have a very long history. So in the grand scheme of things I don't think the details of the event are necessarily all that outlandish. It's really in the realms of urban legend and witch hunts than it is definitive proof of the supernatural.
With all that out the way this is the broad strokes of how I could see this breaking down. C ranks are things you can entirely write off as urban legends, freak accidents, and stress. Potentially things that might not need any covering up at all. I think the majority of events people could entirely say didn't happen will end up in C. "Of course the doll wasn't watching you, dolls aren't alive". B ranks are things that are harder to entirely discount as things that happened but are themselves still relatively easy to excuse as mundane. "Sure, the circumstances of that blogger's disappearance are strange but people go missing all the time, doesn't mean a monster did it". We don't have any A ranks but given the AB rank we do have I'd say A's are things in which no rational explanation can account for it, and as such require more extensive covering up, if it indeed happened. "Okay, maybe the supernatural is real because people don't just grow eyes like that".
As I mentioned early, an S rank does exist. We've not seen this attributed to anything in the show yet and so it might prove to be a special case. However on Klaus' sheet‡ from the ARG it's attributed to an interesting incident. A CAT1RS[No DPHW] with the note Mr. B. And, well, if you know, you know.
From Klaus' sheet we also know that the higher ranked incidents happen less often than lower ones and that idea generally tracks with what we know of TMP and TMA. The supernatural tends to be something you can explain away. It often is explained away. Incredibly overt manifestations are a rarity.
This one will be a slow burn to see if it bears out. Much like with DPHW's it's only really interesting when things go against the theory. I'm not as certain on this one as I am the DPHW theory but I do think it's got legs with our current data.
† This did also feature people who seemed to erase their physical features from your memory after you interacted with them. This isn't something I mention in the theory because it's not taken into account by the header and case number. A major flaw in the OIAR's methodology here is that all incidents are only ever one thing. So the case number is based solely on the presence of lots of miscellaneous objects, rather than the mind-wiping people carrying them.
‡I have made an incident master doc here, containing all the current cases, their CAT#'s, R#'s, DPHW's, etc. It has about as much information on each as I think is reasonable, including who narrates it, a link to its episode, and any other relevant notes, as well as headers for incidents we didn't hear. Additionally it also contains the Klaus sheet (German and English) and links to it when an incident matches. It will be updated each episode after the episode is publicly available.
