If you're a trans guy and you feel like you're not manly enough and are ashamed of the what is considered "girly" traits, toxic masculinity isn't exclusive to cis guys, and it can and will have devastating effects on your mental health, you're perfect the way you are and you don't need to prove your masculinity to anyone, and that includes yourself, because you're not just a floating consciousness in the earthly soup you're also someone and anyone.

Girl is the daughter to some famous guy and he loves her so so so so so so much and doesn't want her to be involved in fame and scandals. So he hires a bodyguard for her so that she can have some freedom and also NOT be seen with him. And bodyguard is just super chill with the man's gushing and doesn't originally try super hard to befriend the girl. It's a job and he just needs her safe and outta the spotlight.
It's going pretty well and is all fine until his friend shows up. Who looks really angy. And glares a lot. So she assumes this friend is just a punk and the bodyguard is like "oh he's nice. he just looks like that when he's nervous."
So when the bodyguard is like "ok i gotta go talk with your dad meaning I can't walk with you to school but I got permission to let my friend walk with you" and she's like okay. I understand. I'm resigned to my fate of never being independent. And then when the guy is like "I need proof or your dad will kill me" and she agrees, HE BEAMS BECAUSE HE GETS TO LIVE ANOTHER DAY. And he shows her the picture and is like "before I send it, this okay with you?" and she nods. She's never seen him smile like that. Huh.
And now the girl has her very loving dad, her loving mom, her protective and kind bodyguard and his weird (boy)friend. And so she has two separate groups of people that love her and she's really happy.

Something that makes reading TOA so devastating is how fucking much Apollo feels about Everything. There’s so MUCH. Like I don’t even know how to describe it to you if you haven’t read the books yourself. He has so many complicated thoughts and emotions about just about everything and he cares about everything so much and there is just SO MUCH going on in his head. And yet none of it ever reaches his mouth!!
He almost never says what he’s feeling. What little comes out of his mouth about his thoughts barely even scratches the surface of what he actually means. Like he’ll be having a long ass monologue about how incredible someone is, showing a deep understanding of them as a person and empathizing with them so hard you’d almost think it’s projection but it’s not he’s legitimately just mind melding with this random person he met like a week ago and he’s thinking the softest, kindest thoughts about them like he knows they’re fucking incredible - and what comes out of his mouth is just like, “you’re a wonderful friend :)” AND ITS LIKE. THERES SO MUCH MORE UNDER THE SURFACE. the sheer admiration and adoration he has for everyone around him……… UGHHH!!! But he never VOICES ANY OF IT!!!!!! He never tells anyone about what Zeus did to him……. He never tells anyone except the reader about his realization that Zeus is abusive…. He never even tells commodus about how much he adored him, not then and not now… he refuses to tell anyone when he’s in pain or tries to justify the things he does when he actually had Decent Reasons for why he did something… I’m. I’M. AUGH. AHHHHH
HE DOESN’T EVEN TELL US ALL OF HIS THOUGHTS IS THE THING. THERES EVEN MORE THAT HE IS NOT TELLING US!!!!! THE FUCKING OCEAN OF FEELINGS AND THOUGHTS HE HAS ABOUT EVERYTHING IS THE CLIFF NOTES VERSION. I AM IN DISTRESS.
And YET…. Even what slips out of his mouth is so fucking devastating it is SO devastating. He’s so fucking kind and gentle with Harley and Meg and and other younger Demis and his kids… he’ll act like an obstinate idiot and then turn around say something that drags the core of the person he’s talking to into the light like nail on the fucking HEAD like he reached into their soul and gave them the words to express something that they were struggling to say aloud or that they didn’t even realize about themself. Around the 2nd book he starts putting voice to some of his feelings and thoughts about others and even that tiny fucking sliver is overwhelming to the people he’s talking to bc he’s SO. AUGHHHH

Animal Crossing? Found family group on a fishing trip! Are they gonna enjoy it?
Oh boy.... lmao
Thatcher: Isn't super stoked about fishing, but he's just happy to spend time with everyone. He's pretty good at fishing though because his Pa used to take him on trips at the beginning of seasons, it's just not something he's passionate about.
Dave: Fucking awful at fishing. Turns up in a 'fish fear me' shirt, which Mark is mortified of. Socks and sandals. Dad vibes off the charts, having so much fun getting to hang out with his nephew/godson. Doesn't catch a single fish and doesn't care at all. Just happy to be included!
Mark: Not very good at fishing, so Thatcher teaches him. Embarrassed of Dave but happy to see him. Probably gets bored after an hour or so. Also nearly his lost his shit when alt!Cesar fell into the water and didn't surface (alt!Cesar cannot swim but also doesn't need to breathe so he can't drown - Mark didn't know that when he jumped in and dragged the guy out lmao).
alt!Cesar: Thatcher teaches him to fish and he gets pretty good at it. Dave had to explain the fish needed to be gutted and cooked first before eating them (alternate instinct kicked in and he almost just started chomping the second he reeled one in). Fell in the water and couldn't understand why Mark and everyone else was freaking out about it until he realised that humans usually drown when they don't resurface. There was probably also at least one argument that ended with alt!Cesar shoving Mark into the water, too lmao

I just read some Reddit post about a dad asking if he’s in the wrong for refusing to go buy his daughter pads because she got her period in the middle of the night and to just use the tampons they had on hand (she’s only 10) and they’d go to the store in the morning and I’m just like Dr. Doofenshmirtz would never

Random 3 am rant: the whole concept of a "pick me girl" is super (hetero)sexist and I wish it never became a thing... now some ppl are using it to call other people out for harmless if slightly pretentious things (and sometimes it's even used if they just happen to have a different opinion on something)
Like do people not realise that by looking down on "not like other girls" people and even verbally putting them down and dismissing things they do as being done just for attention from guys, you are yourself trying to assert your superiority and be "not like other girls". Even if someone does try to put down other women for no reason, you should want to help and understand them and not mock them lol (or at the very least you should be civil). Everyone should just go home to watch the Vivian and Elle scenes from legally blonde

sorry this is totally unprompted but just something i've been thinking abt and i will also preface this by saying this is just one interpretation and i am someone who loves to entertain many (often conflicting) interpretations of things ok anyways
so i really don't think john in the prequel being friends with carlos is indicative of not being homophobic, like at all. i totally get where ppl are coming from w/ that interpretation and also there really isn't anything explicitly in spn canon that says john would be homophobic however for me he just. is. there's just no world where he isn't in my personal canon. esp when you read into the metaphors abt the supernatural being representative of being Other and people on the fringes of society, and then do queer readings of that. but anyways, back to the my main point which is, i can't tell you how many times i've seen ppl (in my own family and outside of it) talk abt their "dear friend so-and-so who is gay" and they're totally fine with that ! and they love them! and "don't care what they do in the privacy of their own bedroom." and then in the next breath will parrot some stereotype abt gay people. and say something ignorant or derogatory. and when called out they insist they're not homophobic bc they love "so-and-so". but they also can't ever imagine that someone in their own family (esp their own child) could be anything other than straight. and i really think that's where prequel john falls. he's totally "fine and cool w/ it" as long as it doesn't directly affect him. but if it were one of his sons? no way. his kids just aren't like that.
