Heyhey! Can I ask you about headcanons (or whatever you feel like writing, the format isn't really a problem) of Eddie with a girlfriend who shares the same interests as him, like she loves metal music and knows well how to play D&D and she's also strong and often snap at Jason and people who talk shit about him?
I need some comfort :')
his other half - e. munson
Tumblr media
:pairing: eddie munson x popular!fem! reader
:warnings: minors dni, eddie being a menace to society and we love him for it , mentions of bullying (typical s4 faire for our beloved freak), semi-popular reader not fitting into cliche’s, you are responsible for your own media consumption!
:a/n: i have limited d&d knowledge so please be kind if i got something wrong! i made a whole ass character sheet trying to help :’( also i made a heather’s reference bc i can’t be helped
it was hard to believe that the resident freak bagged one of hawkins golden children, and yet here you were; thursday nights spent in an old drama class room helping eddie run his sadistic campaigns over his party.
they couldn’t tell who had a worse mean streak, sure eddie was brutal, but you? when you helped him dm, it was a match made in hell for the party.
“holy shit dude. we haven’t been slaughtered like that since the first week of vecna’s campaign.” dustin said, looking down at the miniatures laying on their sides
you really did try and be nice and save them. with a deep sigh you changed your tone from your dm voice to the mom friend they’ve grown to love. “um, everyone, make a death saving throw.”
all the d20s on the table added up to a whopping fifteen. eddie smirked at you and sat back down on his throne. “and that, my dear gentlemen, is why you shouldn’t complain about my campaigns. my queen wrote this one all herself.” he kissed you quickly as he pulled you into his lap and then dismissed the club.
the next day at lunch they were all still talking about how brutal you were. “can’t believe little miss sunshine has a mean streak like that.” “what did you expect? she’s eddie’s girl. they’re practically the same person.”
smiling as you made your way to your favorite freaks, you feel someone tap your shoulder to see jason staring down at you. “can i help you?”
“y/n, why do you hang around those freaks so much? you’re too pretty and popular for them. come sit with who you belong with. got a spot on my lap with your name on it.” he winked and you audibly gagged.
“news flash jason, i enjoy my freaks, and i’m proud to be one. i love d&d, i love metallica and crue, and frankly, i love not being harassed by the men i surround myself with. so run along and go back to the future gas station attendants of america club, and i’ll be happy over here with my nerds.”
eddie walked up behind you, only heating half the conversation. when you felt his arms wrap around you, you eased into his touch and jason scoffed and walked away. “bitch.”
you rolled your eyes and laughed as you and eddie walked back to the hellfire table. “princess, that was hot as fuck.” your boyfriend smiled at you in awe of how you stood up to his tormentor.
you were truly the momma bear of the outcasts, not afraid to defend them with your life if you had too. eddie and his “sheep” as he lovingly called them were the most targeted and it struck a nerve with you every time.
“just wait until he says something about you or the kids again. you’ll see how hot i can get.”

Please talk about what you love the most about your lil blorbos (Cable and Maverick and anyone else!) and what has been a fun challenge while playing them! And any other details that you're like "this is so neat but so niche so no one will know unless this VERY SPECIFIC SCENARIO COMES UP"
HEHEHEH WELL SINCE YOU ASKED….. :3c
cable—
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i fuckin love this guy.
the basic rundown of cable: he’s charming, charismatic, loves spontaneity, and loves living life dangerously!! he’s all about doing what makes you happy and is a big advocate for self-love. they’ve got a high self-esteem and know their self-worth (he knows he’s hot shit and loves himself a lot!! ❤️) they also used to work at a brothel and are super open about their sexuality. this guy? horny. they love performing and pole dancing and wearing high heels. he’s also very affectionate and loves any and all kinds of physical contact. he’s also aromantic and pansexual!! he is platonic partners with my gf’s character, ophelia 💕
you ask me what i love about cable and it’s just. all of him LMAO.
i love cable sm because there’s a lot of myself in him (i made their character at a time when i was doing a lot of self-reflection). also he’s so open and honest and self-confident, i’m like— WOW, i aspire to be like you someday…
if i were to give a challenge i have while playing them… i love rp (it is my favorite part of dnd), but i fear i’m not the best at improv. i tend to get nervous during sessions for this campaign specifically. i think it’s that i’m so self-conscious about playing cable accurate to how i imagine him in my head that i’m just a bundle of nerves. i’m nervous at first, but eventually i get into a groove the longer the session goes on. though, these past few sessions especially, i’ve been pretty happy with how i’ve been playing him!! it delights me when my friends tell me they love cable as well 🥺
i also play leiana, my high elf druid!!
Tumblr media
i realized i haven’t talked about her / showed her publicly on social media at all, so here she is. i don’t have as many things to say about her as i do cable, but i love her all the same!!
she was the first character i tried to give an accent to (irish), and while my irish accent is definitely not that good— it is what it is. this is just how she sounds like, and it’s good enough for me.
leiana is a cartographer and she loooooves bugs. loves bugs. which is very much not like me because i am, unfortunately, a little bug hater. but leiana has such a fascination with nature and bugs especially. she studies bugs and likes to pin them (she only pins dead ones she finds, she would never kill a bug herself) and she has a collection of pinned bugs!
she also has a pet tarantula named fenri, who can change colors! (he’s primarily pink and matches leiana’s hair.)
leiana is no stranger to grief and she fears dying. currently she is trying to distance herself from the party for Reasons 🥲
while i have a few more dnd characters, they are for upcoming campaigns that i have yet to play in!! cable and leiana are the two i am actively playing at the moment :3
maverick is also in my brain constantly these days, but unfortunately i cannot talk abt xem for reasons….one day i will gush abt them to my heart’s content…
thank u for letting me chatter abt my ocs, i give u a little kiss on the forehead

I was going to post a list of the several writer steve aus bouncing around in my head for people to take and use as they please but then I spiralled on a specific one and now it’s at 2k and counting and too long to post here like I was going to so anyway chapter one of this will be out on ao3 soon. Maybe
Basically Steve’s a writer and Eddie’s a barista at a queer friendly cafe with a rockstar side gig.
It’s 1987, the upside down didn’t happen, Steve finally gets out of his parents house and gets an apartment with robin in the city. He starts going to community college to work towards eventually being a counselor or teacher or something. While he isn’t studying he picks up hobbies he felt like he could never even begin to approach while under his parents roof and he and robin explore the queer scene of the area(he realized he was bisexual in 1985). They find a cafe not far from the apartment, it’s called Dorothy’s Keep, it’s decorated very fantastically and it just screams this is a safe place to be yourself, not to mention the name, it’s a queer refuge hiding in plain sight. And Steve becomes a regular. He claims a table in the corner and spends lots of time their studying, and then he starts writing. He gets the idea on a whim one day when on the phone with Dustin, who’s telling him about their latest dnd campaign back in Hawkins. The storyline evolves into its own thing in his head, and then he puts his own twists into the scene, his own monsters and characters, and he starts writing. Its a fantasy horror romance that starts out being about a boy and a girl, but after a few interactions with the cute barista at Dorothy’s keep he makes the main characters queer. His writing end up being good, and he’s cranking the story out, between the atmosphere at the cafe and his life being actually pretty sorted out, he can finally afford to be creative.
Said cute barista AKA Eddie Munson always greets Steve by name or nickname when he comes in now, it’s been a couple months since he first started coming in, and maybe Eddie has a bit of a crush on his favorite regular.
One day he sees Steve looking particularly frustrated in the corner, and frustrated Steve looks like a kicked puppy and Eddie just can’t have that going on, so he decides to finally gather the courage to do something like he’s been meaning to. So he brings Steve his favorite pastry that he often orders. Steve says “I uh, I didn’t order this?” And Eddie says something about how he looked so sad and “i can’t have my favorite regular being down in the dumps, now, can I?”
Steve says thanks and is like yeah you know what I’m done with this for today and closes the journal he’s writing in and Eddie’s guesses “schoolwork?” And Steve replies with “nah, writers block is kicking my ass.”
Naturally, Eddie asks “you’re a writer?” And it ends with Steve telling him all about his story for the next hour and Eddie assuring him that he’s the manager and won’t get in trouble for extending his break a bit and they flirt. Like. A lot.
They talk more often after that and flirt a lot and we’ll, you can guess where the story is headed.
Keep an eye out for the fic, it’s gonna be super gay and cute, I’ll repost this when chapter one is out. I haven’t decided if I’m gonna add angst yet or not, but knowing me there’ll be a.. little bit. There’ll be a happy ending though, I promise.

Stranger Things Rewatch: "The Vanishing of Will Byers" (Part 1 of 2)
Disclaimer: This is NOT a traditional review/analysis, but a collection of observations, brief commentary, favorite moments, and so on that I'm noting as I go through these episodes. All of these are just my opinions and/or theories, and can be subjected to change as the rewatch continues.
Observations:
Happy Stranger Things Day! :) As of today, this took place 40 years ago.
Tumblr media
Love how reminiscent this opening scene is to the climax of Ridley Scott's Alien when Ellen Ripley is escaping the USCSS Nostromo as the alarms go off. I wouldn't be surprised if this homage turned out to be intentional on the Duffer Brother's part:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When we're introduced to Mike's campaign, The Party is in the middle of being attacked by an army of Troglodytes. This is the image I found when I looked them up:
Tumblr media
It's probably just a fun D&D moment, but since the Duffer Brothers have named a lot of their monsters (Demogorgon, Mind Flayer, Vecna) after D&D creatures, it makes me wonder if there's some kind of animal like a troglodyte in the Upside Down. It's unlikely we've seen all the monsters from that dimension, and they might introduce new ones in S5 that the Party hasn't encountered yet and will inevitably fight.
They do a good job with the establishing character moments for both Dustin and Lucas in Mike's D&D campaign: Dustin telling Will to use caution and cast a protective spell while Lucas insists Will fireballs the Demogorgon while he has the chance. Lucas's strategy is to go on the offense while Dustin's is to go on the defense. Specifically with Lucas, he uses that strategy in other situations he's in: Like when Lucas kicks Billy in the groin in S2 after being pinned to the wall by him, or gets an axe to chop at the Meat Flayer's tendril to save El in S3, or even how Lucas is the one who later convinces everyone to take the fireworks from the store to use as ammunition (which helps turn the tide at the Battle of Starcourt). By contrast, Dustin prioritizes the safety of the Party, from pointing out to Mike and Lucas that they might be walking into the same danger Will encountered when they later look for him in the woods, to telling Mike NOT to jump off a cliff when Troy threatens Dustin, to enlisting Steve's help in S2 because he knows Steve will be able to protect them due to his size and skill with the bat, to rescuing Steve and Robin from the Russians in S3.
This isn't to say that Lucas is wrong and Dustin is right, or even that Dustin is wrong and Lucas is right. It's merely noting they have opposite approaches. Each situation they encounter is different, and sometimes (just like with Will's dice role) it's really up to chance.
Also (as noted later in the episode by Mike), Will took Lucas's advice and used fireball as a means of protecting the Party instead of trying to save himself. He puts other people's safety before his own. The comic book "The Other Side" (which focuses on Will's perspective during the events of S1 while trapped in the UD) expands on this aspect of his personality by including several moments of him coming to the aid of others (including Nancy) while in the UD, despite knowing it would put him in danger.
Also, regardless of Lucas insisting the role doesn't count because Mike didn't see it, Will still chooses to be honest with Mike. He knows there are situations you can't cheat your way out of, or pretend didn't happen (as he's about to find out with the real Demogorgon).
Tumblr media
The lights flash at Mike's house just as Will leaves. I'm assuming Vecna and the Demogorgon he was controlling were already beginning to track Will's movements here.
Tumblr media
I've talked about this before in my review of "The Other Side" (and I know for a fact I'm not the only fan who's speculated on this), but I don't buy that Will's kidnapping by the Demogorgon was random. Given the revelations in S4, I'm inclined to believe Vecna deliberately targeted Will and used the Demogrogon under his control to bring Will alive to the Upside Down. I also would argue it was Vecna who used telekinesis to unlock the door to Will's house:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know several episodes from now, Jonathan talks to Nancy about how his dad took him hunting when he was 10 and forced him to kill a rabbit, so I'm assuming Lonnie also taught Will about loading and shooting a gun. It's possible Jonathan could have, but considering how traumatized he was over what his dad made him do, IDK if I see Jonathan teaching Will how to use a gun.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've said this before, but I don't buy Vecna wanted Will to just impregnate him with the larva's that would grow into future Demodogs/Demogorgons. He could have easily used the Demogorgon to kidnap other residents of Hawkins for that purpose if he wanted to. He didn't need Will specifically for that.
Still one of my favorite openings for any TV show I've seen:
Tumblr media
I missed the drawing Sara did of her family the first time I saw this. Nice foreshadowing about Hopper's past life!
Tumblr media
To this day, I still don't understand why Troy and James got their own graphic novel. Out of all the side characters they could have focused on, why did they choose these two? Was there some kind of demand from the fandom to bring them back that I'm unaware of?
Tumblr media
I know Caleb McLaughlin gave an interview after season 4 aired where he expressed frustration over how certain fans have been dismissive of any racial trauma Lucas has gone through, and this goes all the way back to season 1. Both Troy and James's bullying of Lucas was racially motivated, and the graphic novel Zombie Boys also highlights this:
Tumblr media
On a related note, Troy and James making fun of Dustin for having cleidocranial dysplasia is disgusting.
I've seen this discussion before in the fandom about Barb's attitude towards Nancy dating Steve, and this idea that Barb was jealous of the idea of Nancy possibly becoming popular, which.................is not an interpretation I've ever understood. I never once took Barb to be some kind of social climber. When she's talking with Nancy in her first scene, she sounds genuinely excited for Nancy about Steve calling her, as well as cheekily acknowledging that both Nancy and Steve are into each other.
Tumblr media
On top of that, Barb knows Nancy well enough that she wouldn't discard her as a friend, even if she became popular. The way she talks with Nancy in this scene, she doesn't seem worried or upset with her. If anything, Barb is amused during this conversation (including when she sees the note Steve left for Nancy in her locker). There's also the way they both talk about Tommy and Carol, indicating they both have low opinions of them, and that Barb is aware that Nancy doesn't like them and isn't going to abandon her for them.
@will80sbyers pointed this out in a recent post, and I thought I'd note it here since it's a good observation: The first scene we see of Steve and Nancy's relationship is in a restroom..........and their breakup in S2 happens in a restroom as well. That's how things come full-circle for these two:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's notable that the two times Steve and Nancy meet in this episode, it's in an area that's supposed to be private (the school restroom, Nancy's bedroom) but there's always the risk of someone (a high school student/teacher, Nancy's parents) walking in on them while they're making out (not that Steve seems to care). Both times involve Nancy interrupting to tell Steve she needs to study for a test, and while Steve initially tries to make it all fun-and-games between them, he eventually concedes when he realizes she's serious about her schoolwork and agrees to help her.
This still remains one of my favorite quotes from the show (and is literally what weekday mornings are like for me before I have to clock in for work):
Tumblr media
This has been pointed out by others, but there's an interesting parallel between Joyce calling Will "sensitive" vs. Victor Creel calling his son Henry "sensitive."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Notably, when Joyce talks about Will being sensitive, it has more to do with him being aware of other people's feelings, as well as the way other people look at him and judge him. Meanwhile, I'm skeptical of that being the case with Henry. Maybe Victor thought Henry was sensitive because of his inability to "fit in" with the other kids (as well as being labeled "broken" by teachers and doctors), but considering how insulted Henry is at the idea that he was broken, as well as how he didn't care about torturing and killing animals before murdering his mom and sister in cold-blood (and letting his dad take the blame for it), I doubt Henry gave a damn about what others thought of him. His behavior indicates he doesn't feel empathy for anyone the same way Will does. Henry's "sensitivity" likely had more to do with the abilities he had locked inside of him, or even possibly being able to feel the presence of the Upside Down before he was banished there by El 20 years later. Maybe they'll expand on this in "The First Shadow" when it comes out.
They foreshadowed pretty early on that Will was secretly gay. I remember this was discussed by fans way back when season 1 first came out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yes Hopper, he is.
There's a dark irony in how Hopper's been working as Chief of Hawkins for 4 years, and claims that nothing awful has happened during his tenure. 4 years ago would have been in 1979, the same year Henry/One/Vecna slaughtered the special kids (and most of the staff) at the lab before El banished him to the Upside Down. I know Hopper wasn't aware of any of this when it happened, and none of that was his fault or responsibility, but still.........
Tumblr media
Something I always found frustrating with the show (and even supplementary materials) is they never really explain how the chain-of-command works when it comes to government officials on this show. They establish Dr. Brenner as the head of Hawkins Lab (and later that role gets transferred to Dr. Owens in S2), but they never truly say which higher-ups Brenner answers to. Then there's the introduction of Colonel Sullivan in S4 (despite him never being hinted at or mentioned in the previous 3 seasons): Judging by the conversations he has with Dr. Owens, as well as how Dr. Owens got fired for the Russian infiltration of Hawkins in S3, I assumed Sullivan was Owen's superior. Does that mean that Brenner also answered to Sullivan during this time? Or was Sullivan just part of a different faction of the government (i.e. the same faction Ellen Stinson warns Mike about in S4) who was opposed to what Brenner was doing from the beginning, and only recently got involved?
In any case, I'm assuming the men pictured above who are meeting with Brenner are either government agents sent to investigate the opening of the gate, or Brenner's superiors who want to know what happened the previous night.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wonder if there will be a twist in S5 that Upside Down itself is one whole Lovecraftian-like monster, and stuff like the Demogorgons and other creatures are just extensions of it. Just the way that gate breathes, and how it looks like you're traveling through someone's insides.............
Tumblr media
I missed Scott Clarke in S4, and I hope he comes back for S5 to give more scientific advice to the main characters (assuming he didn't leave Hawkins). Who knows? It may prove helpful against the upcoming fight against Vecna.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Since Stranger Things loves referencing Lord of the Rings (and The Hobbit), with the show even drawing parallels to the books (like the Upside Down being similar to Mordor, or even Hopper's fake death in S3 and return in S4 having similarities to Gandalf's apparent death in Moria and his later return), I am looking at the books as one possible blueprint to predict how Season 5 will go. That's just me though.
Also, Will disappearing near Mirkwood, which in The Hobbit is where Bilbo encounters the spiders that try to eat him and his companions, and Vecna has a creepy obsession with spiders and shaped the Mind Flayer into a spider, and the Mind Flayer later attacks Will..................
Tumblr media
I'm sure there's somewhere I'm trying to go with this, but I can't articulate it in a way that makes sense.
SIDE NOTE: This particular scene with Dustin and Lucas fighting while Mike sits in the middle looking irritated is hilarious. 😂
Tumblr media
Come to think of it, this scene is a perfect representation of the dynamic the kids have this episode: Dustin and Lucas argue (whether it's over D&D strategies, how to find Will, etc) and Mike is caught in the middle. This changes later once El is introduced where it's Mike and Lucas fighting, and Dustin is trying to act as the peacemaker.
To be continued in Part 2..........

I genuinely want to know what the thought process is with all of the antis who gleefully engage with and consume fiction that has all of the hallmark "proship" themes - incest, underage/age gaps, noncon/dubcon, etc - and why they're so happy to consume these things in official media while condemning fan creators for doing the same things. Like, I'm in a fandom where the source material has LOADS of incest. There's a bunch of brothers and the canon material is not in the least bit shy about all the incesty themes and incesty humour. One brother actively hits on his other brothers and offers them sex all the time. Another brother is a weeb/otaku who's favorite character in-universe is a loli. The oldest brother has a freaky BDSM thing going on with the second oldest brother. Oh theres also a shota character with canon shotacon subtext. And so on, and so forth, etc. And yet the fandom for this media with ALL of these very canon official things is FULL of antis. Antis who will go on harassment campaigns on anybody who ships the brothers together (from the series that explicitly shows us that they are very incesty brothers) or anybody who "lewds the shota" (from the series with canon shotacon content)
It boggles my mind. And you see it everywhere, in every fandom. I really want to know what kind of mental gymnastics antis are doing where they can excuse themselves for consuming problematic media but then go and send death threats to anyone else who does the exact same thing.
I'd say I'm worse than reading people than average (I have a disorder about it, actually!) but here is my personal 2 cents.
Antis almost invariably hear proshippers disguised as pedophillic boogeyman, and thus everything we do is framed in that lense to them.
Sad thing is, when you think somebody is a horrible person, evidence is cherrypicked to support your conclusion. (and vice versa, I, along w every human on the planet, am guilty of this)
When I write a horrific dead dove piece about sibling incest, its not because I wanted to see more of the squicky dynamic we got in canon bc of how disgusting it is, but because I want to groom my (non-existent) little sister.
And when I tell them that, they either think I'm lying, or trying to trick my followers into doing that.
Its a solid case of confirmation bias, with a side of a superiority complex of being the only one capable of original thought.

Pick 3 of your favorite characters. Tell us when and how you fell in love with them. Inquiring minds want to know :)
Then tag 3 or more people, hopefully who aren't shy :D.
3 of my favourite characters.... that's quite the challenge I have to admit. Because I read a lot and had a lot of favourite chars accordingly. But, here we go, I will try to give this a bit of bandwith, because I have character types that speak to me much easier than others.
Tumblr media
Boromir of Gondor
When did I fall in love with this character? At about 13, when I first read Lord of the Rings. I remember reading through the story, and wondering why none of his companions would try and reach out to him. Legolas and Gimli waste time arguing whether bow or sword is the better weapon, while beside them their comrade is slowly drifting off into darkness. Boromir also had some vibes of Hagan of Tronege from the Niebelungenlied to me, also a character who is considered dark, fierce and also fiercely loyal. While many consider Hagen the bad guy of the story, I also liked him best. The early picture of Boromir that I had in my mind, was close to the book describtion, black hair, very tall, haunted grey eyes and a scar on his forehead. Naturally when the movies came along, my favourite actor Sean Bean had the role, and the picture changed around a little. Watching his interpretation of Boromir seeded the first ideas for a story arc about him in my brain, though it would take me another ten years to sit myself down and write the story. In that story i then explored many of the questions I had since first reading the novel: What drove Boromir to such extremes? What happened to Gondor? How did Aragorn leaving after the Umbar campaign impact Gondor long.term? Even after finishing that huge arc, I still love Boromir as a character. His story has been with me for a long time, and will hopefully remain with me for a long time still.
Tumblr media
2. Raistlin Majere
I discovered the dragonlance books by accident in my teens. And while the quality of the novels can be called into question, their humour certainly still echoes with me. That and... Raistlin. He was the character I found fascinating at once, and not just because he was the only one in the group actually using his brain. Unfortunately the authors had set up his split from the group and later his "fall" in War of the Twins, instead of really exploring the character with more depth. There was so much potential there, so much aspects to tell a story. Raistlin had the potential to be one of those compelling dark characters, who casn make the heroes torn, because while not with them on principle, their help is still invaluable. I sometimes consider writing a story about him, beginning from before his trials at the Tower of Wayreth and building the AU from there. But I would have to take huge liberties, and have yet to find just the right story companion for him. What draw me to Raistlin is his intelligence, also his detachment, his ability to see the situation for what it is, and not need delusions about hope or good, to sustain himself. He sees what is, and doesn't despair but come up with a plan. That nickname "the sly one" hit me hard when I first read about him, because it told me how judgemental those friends of his were.
Tumblr media
3. Eskel
Ciri arriving in Kaer Morhen, and getting frightened by one of Geralt's comrades, because his face is clawed up in some manner... I still remember reading that scene, some time in the 90ies. I was curios at once, especially as scarface, ahm Eskel, proved to be a nice guy in the few scenes he had in the book. I liked him, and I wanted to know more about him. I came up with several stories how he had gotten his scars, and who he was outside of just one of Geralt's brothers. Unfortunately the author never bothered to tell us more about him. Then came the games and I was only marginally enticed by them. Some aspects are good, others are meh... and I will honestly admit that I am still so-so about the Diedre tale. Then came Netflix... and wow was I pissed. Eskel needed his own heroic story I decided and well... it happened. He's still my favourite Witcher, and hopefully will remain so.
Honourable Mentions
Tumblr media
Lan al Mandragoran
Wheel of time was another series I devoured in the late 90ies (and on as new books came out), and Lan was my favourite character in them. I was sure he would die in Tarmon Gai'don, but that did not hinder me devouring everything about him. And what a confrontation in the last battle. Reading that, i was sure, so sure, he'd not come out of this alive, and so happy when he did. I would love to write a story about him and Tam meeting at the Blood Snow and upsetting the entire applecart of events.
Athos
Athos from the Three Musketeers is another childhood hero, from reading the books (Three Musketeers/Twenty Years After/ The Viscount of Bragelonne) when I was a young teen. I like Athos, is aloofness, his honour, is utter reality-defying sticking with said honour, and also his haunted past. He was one of my first fanfic subjects (cringe, the stories were so bad) and i still adore him to this day.
Tagging @regis-favorite-raven, @do-androids-dream-ao3acc, @lohrendrell and @eskel-loves-lilbleater to talk about their favourite characters and how they encountered them.

For those few of my followers here who, like me, are in love with Dumas’ “The Three Musketeers” and want to know more about this universe. Quite recently (to my surprise, joy and great shame) I learned about the existence of the book “The Red Sphinx”
Don’t ask me to explain how I managed not to know about the existence of this book earlier, how it flew under all my radars, it's just beyond my comprehension. But, as my friend said, perhaps higher powers kept it hidden to send it to me when I needed it most, and that’s what happened. If I am not alone in my ignorance and you, like me, want to know more about the court of Louis XIII; about Cardinal Richelieu; about Paris at the beginning of the 17th century in colors and details - this book is for you and it is magnificent!
The main storyline begins immediately after the siege of La Rochelle and introduces us to Antoine de Bourbon, Comte de Moret, and turns into a love story typical of many of Dumas’ books. But, since I have a habit of ignoring love stories, this storyline passed me by without affecting me in any way and it would be better for someone else to tell about it. AND I will say right away that the book has no proper ending, it simply breaks off at a random scene. But don’t let this fact stop you from reading it - if you want to meet Aramis' duchesses, the cardinal’s mistresses, to take a look into the camp of the Red Guards and spies, savor all the scandalous gossip about love affairs and duels and enjoy everything that was hinted at in The Three Musketeers, but never told in details - this book will give it to you like a priceless gift.
The love plot line, however, was continued thank to the epistolary play "Dove", which Dumas wrote earlier and which was added to the Red Sphinx in the latest edition. Tbh it gave me a whiff of Shakespearean passions in prose.))
After editor's notes, my joy increased even more. As I suspected, everything in the book concerning a military campaign, palace intrigues and courtiers actually took place history or was taken from scandalous rumors and gossip of that time, and it's a pure bliss for my tortured soul. (The story of the main character is fictional of course).
So, my dear fans of The Three Musketeers, if you can hear me, don’t be like me, don’t lose sight of this book, if by some miracle you haven’t read it yet, and be sure to read it - after it your favorite characters and the world in which they live will appear before you in a new light and in bright colors.
Oh, and it was an audiobook because it's free on Amazon and I'm a broke hobo. But one day...one day...)

7, 26, 35 for the 50 dnd questions!
for this ask game
7. how do you go about making a character or NPC ? well Liberty was my first real, fully fledged character so she is what i've always wanted to play. the others are mostly "what is the funniest character concept i can come up with at this moment" and the answers range from "alphonse elric" to "funko pop of pocahantas with a head so big she can't actually stand up" or even "it came to me in a dream so now i gotta"
26. if you could have one potion from d&d, which one would you choose? basic B, but i want a potion of flying. OR a potion of fire breathing, or better yet, both at the same time. i'm a dragon now.
35. favorite classic dnd trope actually i love the "you're in a tavern" start of campaign. and people who find it boring need to up their game. also mimics
50. any question you want ! well let me tell you about the party i DM for : - first we have the half-elf bard whose name is Halfédia Lanthrope, nickname Halfie, she's basically a walking pun (my sister and i seem to have the same technique when creating a character). she was the navigator of a ship before the captain died. she's proficient with luths and bagpipes and i live in fear of the day my sister will come with actual bagpipes to the session - next we have an elven monk who has no idea of how society works outside of his monastery. he has yellow and orange robes, follows the Way of the Four Elements and has a big blue arrow tattooed on his forehead. if this sounds familiar, please know his name is Aang. no subtleties here. - then we have the paladin dragonborn Mikira. she has a tragic backstory (entire clan murdered by an other dragonborn clan followers of Tiamat) and the attitude to match (monosyllabic and distrusting of everyone she doesn't known, especially other dragonborns) - finally we have the dragonborn rogue Akra De Morou (another pun). he has a tragic backstory (both parents murdered in a seemingly random racist attack following the troubles with Tiamat, except it definitely was an ordered hit) and the attitude to match (classic edgy rogue distrusting of everyone he doesn't know, especially other dragonborns) the last two players don't know about each other backstories and im rubbing my little paws together

Welcome, one and all, to SportsBall Sunday on VNN SportsCenter. I'm your host, Waheela "Bayou Bill" Whisperer, and tonight I'll be bringing you the latest results of the RWBY Hottest Character Poll.
Yang Xiao Long has firmly ensconced herself atop the list of favorites to win the tournament after defeating her mother and crushing the spread to advance to the Elite 8. The computer polls now have her as the consensus number 1, finally aligning with the human voters. She'll need to carry that momentum into her Elite Eight matchup against Salem, but since she already exploded Salem's tiddies once, most of the bookmakers have her heavily favored in the matchup. We tried to get Miss Xiao Long to sit for a postgame interview, but since she just yelled "Yeah! Take that, Mom!" and ran off to snog Blake Belladonna in their shared hotel room, we were forced to ask her mother for commentary instead. Mrs. Branwen was nearly as curt, telling me to "Get that ****ing thing out of my face" in reference to the microphone before telling me that "Yang's taking the whole damn thing. She kicked my ass. That means she's stronger than all these other pussies" and draining a beer can in a single attempt. She then crushed it on her forehead and threw it at her brother, who was busy offering a bouquet of flowers to one of the other tournament favorites, to limited success.
Winter Schnee is currently favored against any candidate besides Miss Xiao Long after dominating Neopolitan, the spread, and possibly also Qrow Branwen if he manages to close the deal. The oddsmakers aren't confident in his game at the moment, but here on SportsCenter, we're rooting for Qrow Branwen's success (and all the money it'll make us). She's expected to breeze through her Elite Eight matchup against Lie Ren, who possesses the unfortunate handicap of a Y-chromosome.
Our third favorite once again manages to pull through against both her opponent and the spread and still has yet to face a true challenge this deep into the tournament. Blake Belladonna's bracket has been very favorable thus far, and that seems likely to continue now that she's been matched up against her father in the Elite Eight. Mr. Belladonna has been actively campaigning for his daughter, who has been quoted as saying "Ew, Dad! Stop embarrassing me!" Blake is expected to win this round in commanding fashion and secure her spot in the Final Four without ever facing a serious challenge. The fact that she hasn't been tested in battle is why most projections have her a distant third behind Yang and Winter, but she was still a 1-seed coming into the tournament and should not be overlooked.
The last development I'd like to cover is the emergence of a pair of surprising underdogs. Sienna Khan established herself as a contender by knocking off Robyn Hill despite Miss Hill's strong support from Mantle's voters, prompting many analysts to start evaluating her chances against the three favorites listed above. As Ms. Khan refused to grant an interview to a "filthy human", we at VNN were forced to speak with Miss Hill in her stead. Councilwoman Hill assured me that she was devastated by the loss and that the only place she could find solace was in the arms of Winter Schnee before making a gesture that I cannot repeat on live TV and wiggling her eyebrows. She was last seen playing Rock-Paper-Scissors against Qrow Branwen in a hotel bar while Specialist Schnee tried to pretend that neither of them existed.
Maria Calavera, on the other hand, hasn't performed quite as strongly as Sienna, having most recently defeated an arguably weaker opponent in Nora Valkyrie by a smaller margin. Her results have been impressive thus far, but the Grimm Reaper will need to step up her game if she wants to overcome Sienna Khan's strong support among Faunus viewers to progress to the Final Four.
Thank you for watching, everyone. We have a slight change in sponsors tonight. As the owners of www.XiongSportsBooks.com have been arrested in connection with a raid by Vale PD on a suspected Faunus trafficking operation, we've now partnered with Spider Sports & Entertainment out of Mistral for all your betting needs! Place your bets at www.spidersyndicatesports.com and use the code FAUNUS-LIVES-MATTER to get 50% off on all purchases of any Blake Belladonna, Ghira Belladonna, or Sienna Khan merchandise.
SportsCenter's tournament coverage resumes tomorrow to bring you everything you need to know about the Elite Eight. As always, let us know how you felt about this broadcast on Glitter using the hashtag #flexappeal, and check out behind-the-scenes footage and photos of our contestants at www.hunstagram.com/SportsCenter. We'll see you all next time on SportsBall Sunday!

elise’s oc question was so sick so im going to follow suit & ask for all the NON-prime numbers. for Phive. please 🌞🗡️
for you boss man? anything 😌
phivarus "phive" ailanthus is another dnd/terrave oc and (technically) the first dnd character i played :3
1. phives biggest lie (to himself and others) is that he is exactly what his parents want him to be. he is extremely not, but not for the reasons *he* thinks
4. idk if this counts as a hobby to all but oh my gods he misses going to the church. as complicated as it makes him feel, its the only place hes ever been where anything felt like it made sense, any order to the world
6. his favorite fruit is an emelofruit custard with granola and sweet cream. emelofruit is hard to come by where hes been adventuring and so he keeps it to himself. a little precious memory he can return to, just for himself
8. oh.. pretty strict. i think he feels it for his friends, but where he grew up, hes never heard it used for anyone but family
9. while hes used to tough love, hes pathetically desperate for gentle love
10. it hasnt come up in the campaign but he loves social etiquette and fine dining
12. he loves antihumor. tell him a joke with a long set up and a complete dud of a punchline and he loses it
14. slowly. like he never really wants to
15. the biggest change would be between how he is with his friends/adventuring party and when hes around his family, but they dont rly know that yet
16. himself lmao
18. his brother, leonorin
20. his aunt who runs a relic shop in the capitol. has fond memories of when she visited as a child but otherwise hated that her work took her away from the family
21. im not sure if this is a spoiler or not.................
22. doing anything blindfolded. scares the shit out of him
24. he did no such thing and does not appreciate you accusing him of something that was probably hexes doing
25. again. etiquette. hes fighting marionettes and giant eels. put this man in a gala where he belongs
26. oh being fired or ousted would crush him
27. a cameo brooch of his own mothers likeness. its locked in a truck in his room
28. he says he wants to go home. he never wants to go home again
30. he sort of takes everything personal. he feels like his whole immediately world is his responsibility, for better or worse
32. oh he would try not to break any law, but he also isnt a fan of closed doors, so maybe unlawful entry shsjdjg
33. hes drawn swords on ppl before so
34. a firm handshake and a hug if they offer
35. drawing a sword on idinos befki lmao
36. hexe, until they grow closer. but i think its absolutely to the benefit of both of them
38. prayer. if he has to do it in front of an audience, it makes his stomach twist up
39. hmmmm. invited to feel included
40. it doesnt bother him. he has to lead by example anyway
42. he would proselytize shsjfkg
44. he already knows common, elven, and halfling, so probably dwarven or gnomish, as theyre related languages
45. jewelry
46. huge listener. he prefers to talk during lulls, but if you put him on the spot, he flubs
48. any of his siblings
49. yes, and does all the time. with little complaint
50. oh literally all of his current religious beliefs. thats on purpose
51. from summit to set, praise be solanum. ends his morning prayers with the phrase, so at least once daily
52. emotions first babey
54. FIGHT BABEY
55. his oath.

Hello! Can you tell about your dnd character/s? Thanks!
hihi!! absolutely i will thank u for asking
in no particular order, i have optare (warforged/android bard)(also the character in my pfp!!), sircis (tiefling beastmaster ranger), rosyrus (gorgon cleric), scarf (tabaxi rogue), and inias (aasimar beastmaster ranger) (is it obvious i like beastmasters)
...i apologize for the sheer word vomit below
most recently (campaign progress wise) is optare (name taken from the initial interest form my dm made which included a lone "option 1" selection), my warforged bard who is Definitely not inspired by hatsune miku. they are the silliest guy ever and are probably my most fleshed out character? what started as a silly goofy idea turned into my favorite character i've ever made/played!! originally, she only had a single sibling (a "sister unit" if u will) named coa (Course Of Action), but my dm threw out the idea of there being Another twin (or. triplet i guess) named mia (Missing In Action)! optare started as a mercenary-esque android (akin to raiden metal gear), but were sold off to become an idol <3
my very first dnd character was a tiefling beastmaster ranger named sircis, whose defining characteristic was that she had 5 intelligence. her partner was a panther named wakanda nonsense (it was Supposed to be a placeholder name but. it stuck) i played as her for two-ish different campaigns that never got finished so she will, for now, stay on the backburner (but i still love her soso much and she holds a special place in my heart)
rosyrus is the character i play in my newest campaign! i wanted to make the world's angstiest dude ever, which resulted in giving him the backstory of "accidentally turning his only friend-since-childhood to stone and becoming a cleric to save him". so far i've only had the one session as him but ohohooho im so excited to see what comes next
scarf i haven't gotten to play yet! he's the third of five siblings, and the only non-magic user in his family, so he's already riddled with familial angst >:) i have so many ideas for how i wanna go about playing him, but knowing me im gonna turn him from my intended "completely unbothered and kinda annoyed by everything" to "silly 4'10 cat" but we'll just have to see lmao
inias was for a week-long campaign i did with some friends while camping! the image of a 7'something dude being raised by wolves as his backstory was incredibly funny to me, so that's exactly what i ended up doing. his partner, a wolf named akira, is essentially his sibling/packmate who my dm kept targeting and making me stress out, but he did not die! he almost did. I nearly cried. inias is also the only character so far that was in a relationship prior to the beginning; he has a tiefling paladin husband named nephcis whose oath are their wedding vows :) (angel x demon relationships my beloved)

(3) ao3 first lines tagline
Rules: Share the first lines of ten of your most recent fanfics and tag ten people. If you have written fewer than ten, don’t be shy and share anyway (spoiler alert: rules are made to be broken…)
"most recent" i have published uhh nothing since 2021 hockey hols oops. i should maybe. fix that. anyway the point is that some of these are from my drafts folder ayy:
The chatter starts up at the end of every season, and every off-season Mat runs the fuck away to get away from it.
There’s three shadows standing over Eddie when he comes to, curled in on himself on the ground and damp with his own sweat.
The last dragons—barely hatchlings—die at Dragonstone. Perhaps it's only fitting that the last dragonspawn do too.
“I used to think about it,” admits Trevor. “You making me sorry for it.” (x)
Leon makes all his biggest mistakes in Las Vegas, and tonight is no exception. The team is flying high off a win they didn’t expect—off a win, strictly speaking, they did not deserve—and the music is good, and the lights are low, and the drinks keep coming. (x)
Raff is in the Dallas hotel room, and Joel didn’t invite him—didn’t expect him—but holy cannoli is Joel glad to see him there. (x)
The first thing to understand was Raff didn’t have a heart. (x)
As far as Jack was concerned, Taylor Hall could take his Nantucket wedding, his signed contract in Boston, his Biosteel invite and his mostly working body and all the other hallmarks of his happily ever after—and shove it up his own ass. (x)
He had made a conscious choice not to tell anyone about the situation, and indeed, not to think about the situation any more than could be helped. This had worked well for the past several years, except that it meant that Auston had not thought twice about extending the invitation for Dylan to join them for two weeks in Scottsdale. (x)
They’d tracked the old legends from planet to planet, each one emptier than the last: graveyards with no graves, detonation marks from imperial explosives scouring ancient stone, each once-sacred place swept clean of its history. (x)
tagging 10 of you i've seen in my notes lately, do one or two or all of em: @maddiebuckley @bluewaterhigh2005 @tobysziegler @st-louis @xreveux @parisebuyout2021 @chevalric @joeslie @marmolita @townhulls @bigbrotherlouis

Player-Facing: Great RPG Mechanics #RPGMechanics Week Five
I talked about letters and epistolary forms yesterday. They have a kind of immediacy to them– a direct communication from writer to reader, even if you aren’t the intended recipient. That feeling has made them a rich and useful tool in Good Society and in many solo rpgs.
The long time companion to the letter in ttrpgs has been the handout. These have been there since the earliest days– the first ones I recall came from early Call of Cthulhu modules and D&D tournament modules like The Hidden Shrine of Tamoachan. They offered in-universe objects for players to peruse– often hand drawn. These things came before Desktop Publishing and so everything had to be laid out and replicated.
I especially love objects which weren’t just summaries or images, but instead tried to look like real things from the world. Business cards, classified ads, maps, etc. It’s something of a lost art in a world of quicker online play where we can mock up battle maps and find pictures in an instant. I don’t think I’ll ever do anything quite as ambitious as my notebook for Changeling the Lost and that’s too bad in some ways.
But some games have taken the concept of player-facing materials and really delved into them. I have two old favorites in this category. The first is the classic City of Lies boxed set for the first edition of Legend of the Five Rings. This is a city campaign made up of several booklets. The basic premise is that the PCs are a new party of magistrates arriving in the city following the murder of the previous magistrate. The players are given a document which is assembled from various records and scandalous publications. It is an unreliable narrator with some things out of date and others hidden by alternate names. It’s a great companion to the campaign, even if it is a little overwhelming.
The gem of this is a smaller player-facing booklet, the testimony of the murdered magistrate. It offers more insights and clues. Importantly it is brief enough all the players can reasonably be expected to skim through it and find some direction. As a whole, City of Lies is hard to beat– and would be an amazing thing for someone to update to the latest version of the rules and setting.
The other book which sticks with me has a technique I haven’t yet seen adopted by anyone else. Robin Laws’ Players Guide to Kaiin presents a single city for The Dying Earth rpg. But it is not a GM guide. It is a player's guide filled with neighborhoods, characters, details, secrets, and rumors. It is funny, revolting, and compelling in a splendid mix– filled with folks who might help you but might just as easily strip your boots off when you pass out.
The conceit Player’s Guide to Kaiin is that the players look through and find something which catches their eye, fits with their plots, or looks worth exploring. They then tell the GM that’s what they wish to interact with and go to town, literally and figuratively. Like serious, it is great. I wish more city books existed which took this approach. Frankly it shocks me that we don’t have a guide like this for Eversink from Swords of the Serpentine.
I’m pretty sure you can draw a line from Kaiin to another Robin Laws’ masterpiece, The Armitage Files. That offers an improvisational campaign structure built around a series of ten documents. All of these seem to come from a messed up future, written by the PCs patron apparently. They tell of terrible things to come. They offer hooks, names, and incidents which the players can choose how they wish to explore them.
There are several brilliant aspects to this approach. They feel like old-school handouts with different formats, handwriting, and voice. There’s a sense of a chronology to the dissolution of the author. That’s wonderfully complicated by the fact that these letters can be presented in any order– with that basic choice shaping the play.
Importantly the letters are tight– one or two pages iirc– which means that every player can look at a copy and work through it. I love the latter player-facing full document innovation of Dracula Dossier, but that’s an overwhelming text for all the players to work through. It requires full buy-in from the group– otherwise you get the same quarterbacking problem that plagues co-op board games. Armitage also provides a plain-text version of each document which really helps at the table.
I think there’s lots of room for interesting, rich, player-facing stuff today. It doesn’t have to be massive– in fact I think these things being smaller and/or easily broken into chunks for players to work through. The trick is to make these things actionable: presented in such a way that players can immediately find cool things they want to do on any page, rather than having to read through the whole of a book.

ok now YOU have to tell me about your ocs (any but i’m especially curious about Raini ^w^)
OKAY well Lorem reminds me a bit of your Aspen, since she also travels around a lot and it's an integral part of her identity.
Raini, however, is my most recent character! She was made for a game of blades in the dark (@orbitalsparkle) where we play magical girls whose forms are like some form of the planets? Not exactly sure on the background of that all yet since we are only one session in.
I chose the planet Uranus because I was like I gotta for the goofs. And then I came to find that it's an amazing beautiful planet and it's my favorite color and it's nerdy and represents aquarius... idk y'all those are pretty good things for a character for me !!
Raini is short for Urania, which is a variation on Ourania, the muse of astronomy who is in turn derived from Ouranos, or, Uranus. Her last name is "Hele`ekala" which is what the planet Uranus is traditionally called in Hawaiian, it being a take on "Herschel," which is the last name of the man who discovered Uranus.
So the whole campaign takes place in a world in which a catastrophic event (death of the angels) caused the destruction of the modern internet and the reconstruction of society. It's described as being retrofuturistic, and technology as well as some aspects of culture take heavy inspiration from the early 2000s.
Raini lives in Newol Seattle in the year 2068. Life is pretty good for her- she lives in a community home with some other folks that she's come to consider family of some sort (it's pretty typical for the world they live in), and goes to the local high school where she's captain of the robotics team, and they pretty much kick ass. They love to build and solve problems and program. She is a very practical, and blunt person who doesn't show much emotion.
However straight-laced she may appear, she does have her one vice... she loves fighting. She organized a fight club within her community where humans and robots alike can battle, and she can get intense about it. It's not that they have it out for someone or want their suffering or whatever, but she just thinks violence and getting beat up is fun! And no it's not just an exercise thing, running doesn't give her the same adrenaline rush- she finds it extremely relaxing to go home with blood smeared over her face (whether it's hers or someone else's remains to be seen).
Oh and then there was the time she died. She doesn't remember much but she recalls something coming at her head? She has a bright mark around her neck to show for it, but, well.. she's alive now... And some deer told them that they're a magical girl? I guess?
Raini doesn't really get what's going on but she does get to fuck shit up and tinker with top secret tech so she doesn't really mind.

As someone who is also consumed by BG3, I have absolutely no judgements here. In fact, I’m quite eager to hear about all those little brain worms in your head.
LASDHASLKFHSHFSKHFSHFSFJSKDKfh OKAY AND I'M SORRY IF I TOTALLY JUST DUMP SOME IDEAS/INFOS ABOUT MY CHARACTERS.
So one of the brain worms I was having, whilst trying to do research on whether it has significant meaning among the Tieflings themselves, is how my Tiefling bard Nelia lacks in having prominent horns. Essentially, she just has a really scaley base on her head (which I found very similar in pattern to face 2 Au Ra for FFXIV!) that I'm thinking that maybe she filed them down herself so that she's treated with less hostility for just being a Tiefling. My brainworm idea for her is that she left the Nine Hells and just simply wants to use music to make people smile. I also want Nelia to smooch somebody and I have no idea whomst.
I debated on making an alternate campaign for a male character--my initial campaign lead, Rieta's younger brother. I don't have a name for him yet, but canonically (outside of BG3), he hates his older sister and has every intense need to end her life. I don't know how he'd more or less fit with BG3, but I think he'd be more inclined to helping other Tieflings in the game if anything.
I also have ideas for my human druid, Ava! Ava belongs to the Circle of the Moon and can prefers to transform into a wolf. She's pretty jovial in nature and can definitely talk druid-to-druid if necessary in her group. I have ideas of her going outside of her Circle to see the rest of the realm. To become more worldly, so to speak.
Rieta is my main girl. I was playing regular DnD with her with my boyfriend and in her canon, she's in love with a Dragonborn. Since I can't romance another person's character in BG3 (I cry), her solo campaign has her trying to romance our favorite vampire. In a multiplayer campaign, with the bf ofc, she's with her favorite Dragonborn. Rieta's been changed to fighter class right now becauseI need to tank some damage in the game and having two rogues is really fucking me up lmao. Also Rieta's a bit of an asshole. Not entirely. But a bit.
There's just so much in BG3 that I have yet to explore and just build and I'm just...like, I haven't been this excited about a game since FFXIV, and I'm suffering burnout from it (still love FFXIV, mind you. But I had zero motivation to play it). Playing BG3 and actually enjoying it has been such a breath of fresh air.
Also, also! You can tell me about your brainworms too! Or just anything you like about BG3!
