originally titled after what is now the seventh book (tango colgada), the tangoverse follows the osmond family, particularly the children of a reclusive millionaire, who come into themselves without the guidance of a parental hand. now the first book, dancing volcada is what we’ll be looking at today. dancing volcada follows dancer and youngest child dina as she graduates high school and must come to a decision- what’s next? journey complicated by six siblings and a childhood better not discussed, dina has another thing to contend with as well: meeting the girl of her dreams, her literal soulmate, and whether timing really can ruin everything.

So far I already have 2 blacked out, I have some plans for others and some I know I want to use original stories for rather than fan fiction. Unique places in my fantasy wip

Let me take you on a little tour to unique places in my fantasy wip:

TREVENA: (etym. unknown) Trevena is the home town of my protagonist, the dragon girl Enya Arati. It is a small, industrialized town in the countryside with a powerhungry Mayor. Its greatest export is finespun wool and wild meat hunted in the nearby forest Avni. (Spoilers ahead!) When Enya was just a child, a massacre against dragon-breeds took place there and her whole family was murdered by the town's people. In her eyes, they all were complicit and therefore deserve to die. She turns her back to Trevena and flees, but she might return to get her revenge.

AVNI: (etym. Hindi: the good earth) The magical forest Avni is home to a great variety of plants, animals and magical beings. Myths suggest the oldest tree Yggdrasil is the source of all magic in the world. Some even believe it is the giver of all life. But as human industrialization grows, the forest shrinks. This pollution of nature lead to conflicts between humans and creatures.

ZALTANA: (etym. Native American: high mountain) The high mountains Zaltana are home to giants who live in solitude by themselves. Only a few creatures live high up, where the air is thin and the plants are scarce. Most have never set foot on the top of the mountains.

HALE ALIʻI KAI: (etym. Hawaiian: sea palace) is an underwater sand castle in the sea and home to the siren family Kailani and some water animals. The powerful Kailani family resides there, envied by the other siren clans Nerisura, Undimare and Thalaneh.

DRAKAINA: (etym. Ancient Greek: female dragons) is a stone plateau in Zaltana and the former birthplace of dragons. It is a high stone cylinder with a wide and even surface and steep and slippery stone walls. You can only reach it by flying, which kept the dragon eggs safe. Sadly, dragons have gone extinct due to trophy hunting. Enya is the only dragon-breed left, but she still hopes to find signs of life there.

so, this is nice to see. like. sometimes it just feels like i’m not accomplishing anything, right

my ao3 wordcount for 2022, as of today:

that doesn’t include at least 120k of original stuff, if somewhat sleep-deprived memory serves. that doesn’t count the 20k oneshot rotting while i put off finishing the last scene, or the 60k fic that’s just getting started. it doesn’t include ideas i started and pushed aside halfway through.

i hate to risk sounding like i’m bragging but damn. it’s not a lot. it’s not anything, to most people, especially being that it’s free labor.

but that’s half a million words there, easy, and i know all of them are good. i have faith in my competence.

whatever else comes out of this year, i did that much. and i know wren from last november wouldn’t have dreamed of a 500k year, let alone a 500k year i wasn’t even trying to pull. the only person i ever have to impress is my former self, right?

goals accomplished this month:

began preliminary edits on order of the ice and sent it out to beta readers! i'm still looking for beta readers, so if you're interested, read this post here!

chose and prepped my camp nano project!

edited the flame at the end of the world, but the thing is so damn long and in need of so much work that i got tired and took a break. i'm on page 164/350, and am almost done editing part one of the book, the hardest one. i'll return to it when i have the energy!

goals for next month:

camp nano. my project, rapture & requiem, (working title) is prepped and ready to go, and my preliminary exploratory drafting has gone swimmingly! my goal is to get a coherent and complete first draft together by the end of april. going for my usual loose goal of 2k a day, but i'm not gonna be mad if i miss that some days.

goals for the year:

get the flame at the end of the world fully edited

get order of the ice published before the end of the year

finish at least three books, preferably more like five

Character: focused, competitive, proud, passionate, witted, strong-willed, brutal, grim Backstory: No one knows about his past, and he never talks about his childhood, but it is apparent that he was raised to be a killing machine from a young age. (tw: hunting, killing, violence) Kazimierz is a proud hunter who was taught to kill from a young age. He hunts beings down for reward money and sometimes just for fun. His victims range from animals like wild boars, whose meat he sells at the local market, to whoever he gets hired to kill as a hitman or gets a lot of reward money for capturing them alive and bringing them to court.

His thermo vision and his great sense of smell make him an even more dangerous hunter, there is no escape for his victims because he sees them even when they are hiding, and he can smell their fear. It's his favourite smell, and he gets kinda high on it, there are only few distractions that could break his concentration while hunting. He is a highly skilled killer with various weapons, but prefers to use his sword and several knives. There are tales about him skinning his victims alive, eating their intestines and other horrific practices he never engaged in. Though Kazimierz is considered to be very bloodthirsty, he prefers clean knife cuts that kill his victims without spilling too much blood and disposes off the bodies quickly to cover his tracks.

There is no place he calls home as he roams the world and travels wherever his services are needed. He has two hunting buddies who travel with him, Hadwin and Talbot. Over the years, he has developed some sort of romantic relationship with Hadwin, much to the dislike of Talbot. In his relationship, Kazimierz is passionate, but also selfish and dominant. There is no soft side to his hard edges, even though Hadwin won't stop trying to bring out a softer side.

I am barely making it in time for tea, but here we go!! This will be a pretty informal camp nano intro since I'm still figuring out how exactly I want to do that, but I'm excited to give y'all a preview of my goals!

I'll be working on my wip When Comes the Dawn, a fantasy court intrigue story featuring an aroace lead with an inferiority complex and at risk for developing megalomania, a spiteful deuteragonist trapped in an arranged marriage and is constantly having the worst day of his life, and an imperial family that deals with power struggles via state-sanctioned fratricide.

Though if you want the official summary then it's:

FENICE VI AETIER, a portent of ill omens and the estranged daughter of the Vasilier, ignites a dangerous succession game between her and her half-siblings, where losing means death and winning means an empire. The end of the Hes-Aei war brings with it a chance to prove her worth to her father. The challenge is simple: bring him the head of the deposed king of Hesperia, and Fenice will be granted an Ascension, marking her as a legitimate contender for the throne. But finding the defeated king in his own lands would prove to be harder than Fenice imagined— especially when the remnants of her father’s last war starts rearing its head.

I'm currently halfway through act 1 and have caught up with my in-depth outline. My first draft has already reached 38.2K words, and I'm 77.82% of the way to reaching my first major word count milestone of 50k!

I haven't done much this month to prepare for camp other than trying to keep up a semi-daily writing habit, so I'll pretty much just be pantsing my way through camp next month lol.

Hello have this goofy idea i came up with yesterday while zoning out waiting for my caffeine to kick in

You may have heard me talking in various places about my planned original novel, or remember me saying i was going to outline it back in November for a modified nano.

if so, hi! i did that! and first draft time is nigh (camp nano in april, which will be my Actual Nano) and now preptobermarch is almost here, and prepping i am! and i thought it would be fun to include you in this process

every couple days in march i'll post a poll to help me make a decision on what stuff im getting to get me through the process (this is all very silly, btw, stuff like "what kind of pens should i get", so dont worry that you're going to irrevocably fuck something up or choose "wrong")

and there is also a wishlist involved here, where if you, for some reason, have very passionate ideas about what kinds of pens i should use to write my no doubt incoherent first draft, you can skip the poll and just get it for me. i suspect this to have very funny results, as i have very funny polls planned klasdjlakjsd
