I know we keep talking about this over and over but I still can't get over C!Philza criticizing C!Tommy for hesitating between Tubbo and the disks. Tommy might have hesitated but he chose the right choice in the end, Philza on the other hand, when presented with his suicidal son asking to be killed, hesitated and still chose to kill him.
This can go together with my favourite clip of Philza telling Tommy to "be nice" to Wilbur and Tommy just looking at him like ??? And straight up responding "You killed him". Because "be nice" is a good thing, but coming from the man that tried to justify his actions by calling Wilbur, his son, a terrorist (when last I checked Philza blew up L'Manburg too), treating Ghostbur like he wasn't really a person and not feeling any remorse for the pain he caused him... and then he has the audacity to ask Tommy to "be nice".
*Shakes C!Philza violently*

Wait what did Phil do? (Not killing Wilbur I am not that far out of the loop I swear)
Doomsday. Destroying the only physical thing Wilbur had left behind and doing it under the excuse of being in his name, when he'd truly only done it for Techno and his misinformed beliefs about L'manburg because he never bothered to ask. He destroyed all the history books Wilbur wrote and kept. He destroyed his home and the thing he'd built up and wrote about and even felt the need to lie about hoping Phil would be 'proud'. The way he treated Ghostbur, who was still Wilbur, with distain and the way he brushed him off and his feelings off as if they weren't real because Ghostbur wasn't the 'real' Wilbur.
The way that, even when Wilbur WAS revived, and all Wilbur wanted to do was do a project with Phil (burger van) he told him to run away and go play with the neighbor kid and didn't even want to help with a task Phil already had farms for. He also threatened to kick him out of the house. This is directly after his revival and not long after he'd woefully poured out his feelings about how he felt so bad for what he'd done and how he missed Wilbur dearly.
The way he called Wilbur's final moments akin to a toddler throwing a temper tantrum because they didn't get what they wanted. The way how time and time again Wilbur goes to him and Phil never notices the red flags, how he goes to him and the advice Phil gives him worsens everything, but Phil never checks in on his progress or even bothers to ask if something is wrong because Wilbur's questions are suspicious.
The impact he had on Wilbur in general, the stuff that has been talked about how Wilbur was raised/what he was taught/believes that align with Phil and how that directly caused a ton of c!Wilbur's present issues.
I'm not even going to touch on how c!Tommy is very vocal about Wilbur being his brother, and vice versa, and how Phil adamantly denies Tommy as anything close to his son, and had little care about his well being in most situations, and was inclined to brush off anything Tommy ever said (about dream, exile, l'manburg, wilbur, & otherwise). Phil didn't have to treat or even consider Tommy as his son, but he was well aware of how close Tommy & Wilbur were, and chose to treat him how he did anyway.
I'm also not going to touch on how he treats his actual biological family, such as Fundy and his disownment of him and the way he proceeded to treat him with pure and utter distain and hatred over being involved in an group that 1. he didn't lead 2. aimed to get revenge against a man who'd shot the hypothetical first shot. Fundy tried time and time again to apologize to his grandfather for being apart of something that he didn't even take a central focus in. Phil forgave one of the main perpetrators and absolved Ranboo of all blame because of his memory, yet couldn't give Fundy benefit of doubt or at the very least talk with him over why & what occurred.
He's not done anything new don't worry, the last stream he did for dsmp was just hanging out mainly. I'm just having feelings about certain characters, past actions, y'know. It's a lore drought so I'm thinking about past stuff again.
c!Phil said he felt awful about his son dying, and he repeats this time and time again. "They killed my son! L'manburg killed my son!" Him mourning his son's loss, keeping his photos, harboring misplaced anger in the wrong people.
So I hope he still feels awful. Just because Wilbur is alive again doesn't absolve him of killing him in the first place, and everything he did after (and implications of before). I hope c!Phil carries the guilt of what he'd done for the rest of his immortal life. I hope he realizes he's continuously given Wilbur reason to push him away, and yet he doesn't fully. He's given Wilbur every right to simply never speak to him again.
c!Phil has consistently had ignorance over main events of the dsmp and it has gotten to the point where it's willful, he simply doesn't care, whether it's because he's immortal and this is but a blip in his lifetime, or he can't be bothered who knows, I don't, I don't care, it's not an excuse.
c!Phil is an abysmal father and has done awful and terrible things to his family and those closest to his family. He says he feels bad and I hope he does and I hope he harbors those feelings forever and ever.

Consider This Goodbye Philiza and Fundy duet
*Takes place in the aftermath of Doomsday*
(Philiza)
You are reckless
Sentimental at best
That's not a teaching of mine
You've grown soft
My son can attest
(Fundy)
Hey!
(Philiza)
Put your emotions aside
You're a warrior meant to lead the rest
I don't know where I went wrong
But I warned you and you failed the test
So now I'm gone
This way, you'll know what your place is
This way, you can't cross the line
This way, when all is over, you'll keep yours and I'll keep mine
This way, you won't disappoint me
This way, you won't waste my time
This way, I'll close the door
Consider this as my goodbye
*Short instrumental as Philiza prepares to walk away from Fundy. Fundy stands up and takes a deep breath*
(Fundy)
That's just like you, why should I be surprised?
Selfish and wrathful and vain
Unlike you, every time someone dies, I'm forced to deal with the pain
What's the point of following your path if I'll never sleep at night?
I'll remind you that I'm your grandson
But now, that's done
*Fundy rips off a necklace that Philiza gave to him which was a gift from Mumza and throws it into the crater that was L'manburg and then starts walking away from Philiza*
This way, you're out of my head now
This way, you won't control my life
This way, when all is done, you're out of sight and out of mind
This way, you get what you wanted
This way, you can save your time
This way, you close the door and have your damn goodbye

My hope is that c!Ranboo comes back, learns that c!emeraldduo left him to die so an abuser could be set free, realizes how awful c!emeraldduo are, gets pissed, and then either ditches their asses and drags Tubbo out along with Michael(because goodness lord if those fuckers sink their fangs into MY BABY BOY and try to turn HIM into a bloodthirsty violence crazed mini ctechno BEAST-), ooooooor just straight up kills them so they can't help Dream ever again.
I think he should choose his family and only his family. And that c!Tubbo should get a talking to about endangering their son with leaving him alone with people who set their boy(ctommy's) abuser free. It'd be real neato, me does thinks
Eh I don't think c!Ranboo should kill c!emerald and I also don't think he has to choose between them and c!Tubbo really? Like whether we as fans agree w the writing or not, within canon c!Tubbo has forgiven c!Technoblade for the hurt he's caused. And I also think it'd be kind of fitting with c!Ranboo's whole "people vs sides" thing if he stayed close with all of them? Like these people in his life have proven that they can and will put their differences aside for his sake and that's kind of lovely to see. So like I definitely agree that Michael_B probably shouldn't grow up in the Syndicate and that c!Tubbo and c!Techno should probably keep their distance, but I don't feel like c!Ranboo should have to choose between them in the end

I've seen a post on twitter abt c!Phil pulling SBI + idk c!Tubbo, c!Fundy, and c!Ranboo out of the dsmp to a safer world after having a horrible ending w c!Dream taking over and it made me realize how I'm just in deep with c!Phil crit. Because at the very core of it, at the end of the day, this was kinda c!Phil and c!Techno's fault.

Oh he totally is. He’s talking about like all of it.
The dream team getting stalked at the hotel, the fact crumb wasn’t allowed to wear their box, people getting hurt at the foam pit, the lack of space for the panel, how shit the questions and vibes were at the panel, the messed up pronouns, how he wished he had more time at the meet-and-greet and just how disappointed he is that the fans had a shit time. Like he finally opens the presents at 2:40:00ish hours lol

I just think like i'm worried for c!Wilbur and I'm worried about the trend of the people he's apologized to giving him the wrong advice. Like I don't think c!phil and c!eret so far have contextualized that c!wilbur did not just die, he killed himself. He expresses to c!eret how insecure a leader he was and was shut down about how L'manberg threatened the peace and how c!wilbur has hurt people, and c!phil puts apologies on c!wilbur and tells him to move on. Like c!wilbur was suicidal, he carried this insecurities with him which were reinforced by the trauma of a close friend betrayal, the paranoia, and the exile to Pogtopia and rapid decline in his mental health. Like all of these apologies as i've stated before he's grown more fatigued, hearing his words in Limbo confirmed "that he wasnt good for the server", not having his insecurities or things laid bare addressed instead by being given advice or being told what was right all along, reinforcing his negative self loathing. Like I am so concerned for c!wilbur, deeply i am.

Also like the way c!Techno, c!Phil, or c!Wilbur do things to comfort others who are canonically like their close friends and loved ones and it works extremely well but the fandom is always without fail just like “NO you did it WRONG”
Like for example with Tubbo all three of them have offered him safety, protection, and a sense of control, something that he’s basically been fighting for since the beginning and as a result he’s built new nations, antagonized others, and literally built fucking nukes just to feel these things and yet they’ve never worked up until this point, the point where has a solid promise that him and his family and whatever nation he builds will be protected, and yet the fandom is still utterly convinced that Tubbo should be having a panic attack at the mere sight of Wilbur or Techno and that them giving him a safe place where he’s able to feel like he’s in control is just gonna retraumatize him
Or with Phil telling Tommy that material possessions aren’t more important than his loved ones, Tommy, whose months in isolation with his abuser, making him feel like his friends and loved ones don’t actually care about him, caused him to cling to material possessions as a result, and Phil told him that his loved ones are more important than these things, that they do love him and that it’s okay to have objects he cares about but when it comes to healing they’re not more important than having a support system full of people who love him, and yet the fandom acts like Phil told Tommy he needs to burn everything he owns and destroy his house
It’s just mind boggling to me, especially considering the very same people will say this shit and then turn around and defend characters like Sam’s actions

I know I'm really late to saying it but it's something that's always bugged me. c!Philza's hatred for New L'Manburg.(btw if I mention a name assume it's a canon character) Granted, he had every right to hate them, but his reasoning always pissed me off.
He blamed them for "forcing him to kill his own son". 1. he was not forced. 2. Wilbur's death was not by fault of New L'Manburg. 3. He has no one to blame except himself. literally the only person who put pressure on him was Wilbur himself and the fact is he could've walked away. Wilbur didn't have a weapon he could've used to kill himself in his inventory and Philza could've easily walked away, or "knocked him out" or just taken him to get help or literally anything, but instead he killed him. Wilbur was insane and heavily suicidal at that point and it was quite obvious, especially in his last moments, therefore he was not in the right mind to be making those kinds of decisions. Philza killed his son, but he blames others for it 'cause he didn't want to admit he was the bad guy in that situation, he wanted to believe he was as much a victim as Wil and while I will say he should've never been put into that position it is 100% his fault that Wilbur died and he should not be blaming New L'Manburg for it or even saying he was forced because he wasn't.
now, I need to say that this isn't a critique on how cc!Philza wrote his character, I actually quite like how he wrote him and believe it was done really well, but it's just something that's bugged me for ages and I had to share.

C!Phil in “Bust”
/dsmp rp
Tumblr media
I saw this tweet a while ago and it reminded me of what I personally think Phil was trying to get across in their conversation before Wilbur went on his final round of apologies. Also sorry if this comes across as incredibly fumbled, I don’t usually partake in discourse like this-- I’m also sorry if it’s coming out of left field, I procrastinate literally everything I do.
A lot of people demonized c!Phil after this stream in particular because they considered the advice bad advice-- I saw a post saying how he shouldn’t have said this because you shouldn’t say things like this to a mentally ill person, and I think that’s just wrong, because I think it’s exactly what c!Wilbur needed to hear.
Wilbur has always burdened himself with the opinions of others, because I feel like a lot of his character is centered around how others might need him. He was a president and a general and the people looked up to him. When they kicked him out because they had Schlatt, he spiraled because he didn’t feel needed.
A lot of people talk about c!Tommy’s codependency, but I think it goes both ways. Wilbur is just as reliant on Tommy as Tommy is on him. He needs Tommy to need him so he feels needed-- all this to say that Wilbur’s self worth is steeped in people’s positive opinions of him, even if he doesn’t necessarily explicitly say it, which brings me back to Phil’s advice.
“Sometimes you fall so far, so low, that there isn’t or doesn’t seem to be a way to be forgiven. Sometimes you just can't expect forgiveness at all. You can't expect it to be your end goal. Your end goal should be to allow others to move on from the mistakes you've made. You have to bring closure to the suffering you've caused, Wil.”
I think the part that rubbed a lot of people the wrong way was that Phil was not giving Wilbur an out for explicit redemption from those he hurt, but I think that’s what made it work. In order to heal himself from the pain he caused, Wilbur needs to separate himself from these mistakes and allow himself to heal as well, and trenching himself in this bid for forgiveness from everyone else was only making him worse. Wilbur needs to reconcile the fact that he did hurt people and he is a villain in some stories, just like Eret was a villain to him, and at one point as well, Dream (obviously this conversation happened before the events of Inconsolable Differences).
Only at this point can everyone begin to heal. Now Wilbur is focused on action rather than words, like what he did for Tommy, the grand gesture with Boomerville for Tubbo, etc. etc.
The times he couldn’t reconcile his villain status in some people’s eyes, like with Fundy, it ended badly.
Phil’s intentions for Wilbur was for his healing to be central around his own self worth rather than others.
