Always an experience watching the leftism leave FNAF fans when someone mentions that Scott Cawthon financially backed fascist politicians.

The switch from posting hardline leftist tweets about boycotts and signal boosts and critical takedowns of politicians and celebrities to ‘ohhh, well. everyone makes mistakes. who can blame him, listen he. he donated money to gay charities too. that makes it ok! a millionaire in his forties is allowed to have political beliefs. does it even matter? just let it go!’ is whiplash inducing. The antivaxxer celebrities have got to go, but this one horror dev who quietly handed wads of cash to antivax lawmakers? He’s chill, he can stay.

The charity thing is so funny too because suddenly utilitarian positive-negative point counting is the way to go. Maybe an abacus would help calculate the net good of donating to the Trevor Project minus donating thousands of dollars to Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump. -10 points if I push a kid in a lake but +11 points if I help an old lady across the street, so I’m chill. You can’t judge me. Hey, maybe. Just don’t push a kid in the lake period. How fucking low is the bar when we’re excusing maxing out the possible dollar amount of donations to Mitch fucking McConnell. Quinlan and Aayla are the original Anakin and Ahsoka. Quinlan being Obi-Wan's age, and Aayla being seven years older than Anakin, Quinlan is only NINE years older than her. Legends Wookieepedia says he took her as his padawan when she was 10, which is patently ridiculous. Even if we age her up to a more new-canon-consistent age, that still gives us 23yo Quinlan and his 14yo padawan. Disaster duo. Terrifying gremlin pair.

super cool things happening in russia rn. super cool and PREDICTABLE things. first u ban talking abt the el gee bee tees with kids. then you ban the same for the general public. then u criminalize trans people (meaning the ban on surgery that came in july). next step is to criminalize gays of course. introduce some legislation thats super vague on what does and does not count as "extremism" and you can arrest literally anyone! LGBT activists, allies, even gay people who keep quiet and mind their own the majority of the time. no one is safe and putin is going to keep accelerating his social cleansing project until theres none of us left.

I was talking a bit about this but I think part of the reason iterators are designed as these small little doll-like puppets is both to humanize and dehumanize them by the Ancients. The puppet, at is core, is a means for communication with a great biological machine- to give it a face and features and ground it as you ask its advice or it's progress. This massive, world-altering creation simplified down to this little thing that had all the features of a person. But its also small, cute, Ancient-like but clearly not an Ancient itself. They're colorful and simple, like a toy for children. And I think thats largely how Ancients saw them- often not as a person with desires and opinions but as an extension of the Ancient's work, a personalized character that represented their cities and people, whos citizens could like them and were comprehensible to their children, but was not them- and would not reap the reward of being them when a solution was found. Each one pretty and unique to make them individuals, but not seen- truly- as individuals by many- just as parts of their cities, something under the Ancients. Like if every town had its own personal My Little Pony they could ask advice on where the next community center should be built.

#theres this implication the ancients did not have particularly careful views on how they interacted with things not them #they shaped their world and its creatures freely #bent the environment to their whims so throughly it still exists #in ghosts long long long after they pass #i dont think it was like malicious but theres a certain lack of tact in it from an ecologist pov #and i sort of wonder how that colored their relationship with their iterators #given they are their creation- a sort of magnum opus #but a creation none the less #Like iterators are both revered as godlike figures personally made complete by the ancient's work #but as an almost novelty god. A cool toy. A neat trick. A new machine that will answer all your problems. everyones problems #Everyone gets one. each ones unique. but theres no need to be /too/ attached
