Camp
Hardersson x Baby!Reader
Part of The Big Adventures Universe
Summary: Your first time at camp
Tumblr media
The first time you go to Sweden Camp, you're still a baby.
You don't even remember it but Magda does.
Magda knows it as the day that she was no longer the favourite Eriksson in camp. It doesn't really matter that she was the only Eriksson in the team but after your arrival, she might as well have been a ghost because everyone was just so enamoured with you.
"Where is she?" Frido demands when Magda turns up on the first day of camp babyless.
"With Pernille," Magda says," She'll come in a few days. It's not easy to travel with a baby, you know."
Frido waves a hand dismissively. "But they'll be here soon, right?"
"You know they're only here for a few hours, right? They're not staying."
Frido doesn't seem to hear her or at least doesn't acknowledge Magda's said anything because she goes off to do something else while Magda stays frozen in confusion in the lobby.
Pernille arrives a few days after camp begins and a day before the match.
The team are out practising on the pitch, running through passing drills. No one notices her there for a long while until Magda does a bad pass to Frido and the ball goes flying.
Frido turns around to retrieve it and immediately sprints off in the opposite direction. It leads to a few people following her gaze and breaking off into sprints of their own.
Tragically, Magda is one of the last to notice your arrival and is kept at the back of the throng of Swedish players that now encircle you and Pernille.
She forces her way through viciously until she pops out just as Pernille transfers you to Frido's arms.
You're still tiny but are old enough now to have enough strength to support your own head so you happily sit in Frido's arms as she coos at you softly.
You giggle, reaching a hand out to smack against her nose.
"Oh!" Frido says with a little laugh," Did you get my nose? Is that my nose? I think it is!"
Ordinarily, Magda would tease Frido for how high-pitched her voice has gotten in your company but then she'd be open to being called a hypocrite because Magda's voice does the same.
"Look at you," Zećira coos," Those are good reflexes." She nudges Magda teasingly. "I'm thinking Operation Mušović for baby Eriksson?"
Magda shoves her back. "It will be a cold day in hell when you turn my baby into the second version of you."
"It doesn't matter what position she plays," Caroline says decisively as the crowd parts for their captain," Because this little lady-" She takes you from Frido. "-Is the future captain of Sweden."
Pernille, who has mostly been ignored, sighs. "Or Denmark. She's my child too, you know."
"I suppose we could lend you her," Caroline says diplomatically," Denmark youth player, Sweden captain."
"I'll settle for it the opposite way around," Pernille replies but she's waved off as Caroline presents you to the rest of the team.
"You better watch out," Caroline says," Because we might have a new Eriksson in our defensive line."
"A Harder in your offence more like," Pernille says but, like Magda, she's mostly ignored.
Neither can do much as the team passes you around like something sacred. Everyone takes the time to coo and play with you before you're moved onto the next person.
The plan was for you to be introduced to the team for a few hours but be gone by dinner. Somehow though, you've taking your bottle in the middle of the dining hall.
Even more strangely, Magda is not the one doing it.
It had been a little difficult to get you to take a bottle after months of just Pernille's breast but Magda's glad she's got the opportunity to feed you as well.
She just wishes it didn't mean that other people can feed you now too.
Right now, it's Frido and Magda should have known that she would do this. She just adores you and hoarding your time is her game plan at home as well so it's no wonder she's doing the same at camp too.
"No," Magda says as Olivia appears by the table," Don't you dare."
"Magda," Pernille says," It's sweet."
Magda ignores her, pointing at Olivia in warning. "No! I told you guys no!"
"Everyone put into a pot," Olivia says," It's a collective gift. You can't say no."
"You know what? Yes, yes I can. No! You're spoiling her!"
"She's a baby," Olivia insists," She deserves to be spoiled!"
Magda can agree with that. You do deserve to be spoiled but there's a difference between getting spoiled and whatever Olivia's got in the four bags in her arms.
"No!" Magda insists," It's too much!"
"Not enough," Frido says," I was going to get her more but Caroline put a cap on the amount of money someone could put in the pot."
"Frido!"
"What? Didn't you listen? I didn't get her as much as I wanted to!"
Magda goes to retort back but a hand on her arm from Pernille makes her fall silent.
"Thank you, girls," Pernille says, taking the bags," I hope she gets lots of use out of what you've bought her."

THERE IS AN INDENTATION IN THE SHAPE OF YOU | LYNEY
notes 1.5k words, happy mothers day to my mama and to my maman rosalie, IM SORRY FOR THE DELAYWHADJFD

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The moment the messenger bird departs from his fingertips, Freminet launches off in swift motion.
Hours slipped by with him remaining inactive, with ‘Father’ unusually subdued since her return. Freminet should have immediately harbored his suspicions of it—’Father’ will always be one step ahead. Whatever secrets the children attempt to keep are already accounted for by her; it is her response that remains unpredictable and dangerous. Freminet admires that about ‘Father’, but it is perhaps a little unwelcome in the present situation.
The rain died down moments ago. The Hydro Dragon calmed, but Freminet knows that you haven’t.
He finds you kneeling on the ground, breathing heavily. Petrichor is wafting through the air, but there was that distinct smell of frost that Freminet could recognize anywhere. He belatedly notices that your hands have been frozen to the ground and your shoulders are trembling, but you’re making no effort to pull off.
Freminet approaches warily. Lyney’s message had been vague, but he got the gist of it. It was only Help Y/N. Freminet isn’t going to question it; if you were in danger, he wouldn’t think twice about it.
“Hey,” you whisper, seemingly unsurprised by his appearance, only sheepish at your current predicament.
“Y/N,” he says slowly. “Are—how did you—do you know how to get out…?”
“…No,” you cough, embarrassed. “Usually, Rosalie would help me.”
Freminet kneels beside you. “How did this even happen?”
“I—I don’t know. Honest. I just flicked my hand and got stuck. I should’ve calmed down before I left in the rain—I don’t—I was just—”
“You’re shaking,” Freminet interrupts, frowning. “You’re too weak at the moment to budge out yourself.”
“Well, yeah.” You breathed in deep, resigned. “I figured that out twenty minutes ago. I calmed down now, but I kinda gave up.”
“You’ve been stuck here for twenty minutes?”
People with Cryo Visions are more resistant, but no human should be stuck in ice for that long. Freminet supposes he could never fathom how strong you are, even after all these years.
Freminet really missed you. He wants to say it, but now is probably not the time.
“You can learn to thaw it. I had to learn it, too.” Freminet watches in confusion as you stare at the ice—the same ones you’ve created—with contempt. Or perhaps it would be more accurate to say fear. “You haven’t been using your Vision?”
“Not on purpose,” you murmur. “It’s always an accident. How do I melt this?”
“You have to relax,” Freminet says, resting a hand on your shoulder. “Think about the ground melting the ice away, like it was never a part of you.”
“I wish it wasn’t a part of me. This is a weakness.”
“It can be a strength if you learn how to use it,” Freminet says. That’s what ‘Father’ used to tell him. “So you shouldn’t neglect your Vision.”
You stare up at Freminet with your mouth a little open. Freminet blushes under the attention, diverting his gaze.
“You’ve really gotten cooler, huh, Freminet?” You grin, the same flame you’ve given him before, back when things were simpler. “I missed you.”
Freminet allows himself to bask in it. “I missed you, too.”
The ice had shrunk, but it was still present. Freminet is mystified—he has never known any other Vision users who were so wholly in tune with their emotions to their Visions. You were like some sort of miracle.
“I wish Lyney was here to help you,” Freminet says and keeps an eye on the glow of your Vision.
Your expression shifts quickly into disdain. “I’d rather he wouldn’t. I don’t want to see him right now, that idiot.”
Freminet tilts his head. “Why? Did he already confess?”
Your eyes widen as the ice doubles over and is enveloped by a new layer. “That—that wasn’t a confession!”
That’s not the reaction of someone not-confessing. “We all knew it, you know. Lyney really likes you.”
“Freminet,” you hiss, your skin burning. And as fast as the frost has crept up your skin, it melts. Even for just the thought of Lyney. How magical it was. Even you seemed surprised, your hand launching to your face to feel how hot it had gotten. Anger, embarrassment, or something else that you couldn't name—it didn't matter, Lyney had a different kind of effect on you.
Freminet smiles. He missed this. “Tell me about it on the way there.”
You tell Freminet you had an inkling of where ‘Father’ took Rosalie. It’s just a guess, you want to say, but it was really more like you don’t know anywhere else where she would take Rosalie. It made the most sense—and, in some up way, it made it poetic.
And so you two stand face to face with your old home, the House of the Hearth. It still had the same grand doors you remember, the same living room, and the same fireplace, but the emptiness was unfamiliar. It was unsettling, like a bad dream.
“Where is everyone?”
“’Father’ told us to evacuate for the entire day,” Freminet says. “But I didn’t know it was going to be because of you.”
You laugh. “There aren’t even any guards here?”
“‘Father’ doesn’t need any.”
Well, he has a point.
You took in the things you can still remember: the room in the far corner that you occupied the most, spent every day training until your limbs couldn’t even move; the table, where you bickered with Lyney all the damn time; the couch, with Cecilia and the start of the terrifying thought that you weren’t going to be anyone special anymore.
You have memories here. Good and bad in equal parts, but still memories. Coming back to the House as it’s empty solidified your leave. This used to be your home.
“Are you okay?” Freminet asks quietly, but it startles you in the silence of the building.
“I’m okay, sorry. Do you have any idea about where ‘Father’ could be?”
Freminet’s eyes brighten. “I do. Follow me.”
The click of Freminet’s steps eases your nerves a little bit. At least, you think, you aren’t surrounded by suffocating whispers anymore in this House.
Freminet leads you down the corridor, and it comes to you belatedly that this path was intimately familiar to you. As he stops before a door, you knew. Your name is still engraved onto it, but with the dust and rust that has collected and grown over time, it wasn’t taken care of anymore.
“Here?” you ask in disbelief.
“I hope so.”
Freminet twists the knob, and the whispers that resound from the room fall silent. You find it strange that it hasn’t been locked, and it feels like walking into a trap, but you realize that all of this had been part of The Knave’s plan—of course it would be a trap that you’ve walked straight into. But all those thoughts are wiped away when your gaze dawns on the woman on the chair, who was glaring at her hand.
“Maman!” you cry out, missing the cup of tea she was holding.
She flicks the tea behind you and flings her arms out when you launch onto her. “Ma chérie!” she exclaims brightly.
The glass shatters and startles you back into clarity. You blink dumbly at the mess, then back at Rosalie. “Were you going to drink that?”
Her expression turns fierce. “No. Never. Not ever, okay, mon amour?”
“Oh, er, yes.” You never realized that Rosalie harbored an intense hatred for tea.
And finally, you direct your attention to the woman who has been silently watching the entire time.
“‘Father’,” you address her.
You haven’t called her that since you left. In your head, she’s always been The Knave; from the moment you left, in each flower you froze, in painful memories with Lyney, she is The Knave. But looking at her now, you feel like nothing else fits more. The ease of the admission almost terrified you. You could never deny it—she is your ‘Father’.
“I see that Freminet was the one who brought you here.” Arlecchino hums thoughtfully. “I was expecting Lyney.”
“I’m sorry, ‘Father’,” Freminet says weakly, head bowed. “But I stand against whatever punishment you will give her. I am here to protect her.”
“You’re openly going against the rules of the House?” she asks, tone stern.
Freminet sucks in a breath, afraid. “I-If I have to. I will not let you hurt Y/N.”
Arlecchino simply places her hand on Freminet’s head. “And you know that I wouldn’t. Do not worry. I know and understand your loyalty doesn’t stop at people who’ve chosen to leave our family.”
Freminet’s head snaps up, his eyes wide.
As heartwarming as it was, the teacup shards and its liquid's strange pungent smell have alarmed you. What was she giving to Rosalie? “Why did you bring her here?”
“Do you remember the most important rule of the House?”
“Betrayal to the House is punished with our lives,” you recite almost instinctively. Rosalie reaches for your hand and grips it tight but keeps her gaze forward, as if only to assure you that you aren’t alone. “But it’s only me. Rosalie doesn’t know anything. If you want to kill anyone, it should be me. Please, ‘Father’.”
Arlecchino almost smiles. “You want to know the truth?”
“It’s all I’ve ever wanted from you.”
“I thought you were like me. I recognized my youth in yours. But I was wrong. You love more freely than I do; you just don’t see it.” Arlecchino stalks closer until she’s close enough to mirror your position—you kneel across each other as if she is willingly lowering herself to make you understand. “I don’t want to chain you to the throne.”
…Huh?
“So, I will give you a choice.”

Chapter Seven
Wednesday morning was supposed to start like it always did - small talk with your mom over a bowl of cereal and then running out the door before the conversation whittled down to awkwardness. You wish you could appreciate your mother’s efforts to try to connect with you, but she never asked about anything beyond school and skating - once those two subjects were exhausted, it was as if you two had nothing more to talk about.
But today was different. Today, your dad was actually sitting at the breakfast table instead of rushing to his office before you even came downstairs. Today, your head was a little fuzzy from drinking the night before. Today, you wished you had just run out the door and skipped breakfast, because you could see right away that your parents wanted to have a conversation.
You paused briefly in the kitchen entry, looking between the two before trying to act casual, walking towards the pantry and preparing a quick breakfast. You could feel their eyes following you, and damn did you wish someone would just say something. Your father always acted like this before a serious conversation - he stayed silent to intimidate you, to put you on edge in hopes that it would make you more pliable to what he had to say. You’d always assumed he did this to clients and business associates as well, as if to suggest some kind of dominance over them. Well, you weren’t going to let it get to you that easily, you never did before.
You sat at the opposite end of the table from your father, your mom hovering at the kitchen sink although there were no dishes to be cleaned. You started to eat as if you were totally unphased by their watchful eyes, as if you were entirely oblivious to their stares, although you knew neither of them bought the act for a second. One of you was going to cave eventually, and it sure as hell wasn’t going to be you.
Sure enough, your mom spoke first as she approached the table, just like you expected her to, “You have practice after school today?”
You gave her a critical look before nodding - you knew that she knew you always skated on Wednesday, making that a pretty pathetic attempt at breaking the tension in the room.
“Are you actually going?” Your father asked in an accusatory tone, although he maintained a neutral expression so as not to give away what he was thinking.
You couldn’t help the mean look in your eyes as you met his intense gaze. Your tone was stubborn and cold, “Yes.”
“And will that boy be there?” The disdain in your father’s words was clear as day. Your brow knotted at the question, both because you didn’t like his tone and because you wondered how he found out about Eddie already.
“Boy?” Your tone was mocking - you weren’t feigning ignorance, but rather presenting your father with a challenge, daring him to elaborate on what had gotten his mood so twisted. And it was clear in his face that he didn’t appreciate your attitude one bit.
“Mrs. Redford saw you two together on Friday.” Your mother chimed in, hoping to serve as the calm mediary considering that you and your father were both intense, mean people.
Of course it was Mrs. Redford who told your mom about Eddie - she was such a damn gossip, and with her daughter participating in your skating lessons, you should have known she would have noticed you leaving with Eddie that night. She was drawn to drama and gossip as if it was the air she breathed, so it was certainly no surprise that she ran off to tell your parents about this new boy that she spotted you with.
“Why does it matter?” You dropped your spoon in the forgotten breakfast that sat in front of you, slouching into your seat in growing frustration.
“Because he’s clearly a troublemaker.” Your dad’s tone matched yours, causing you to roll your eyes, “Don’t you dare roll your eyes at me.”
Your jaw clenched at the threat in his voice, “How could you possibly know someone is trouble without even meeting them?”
Your father pressed his palm to the table firmly, “Because I know his type - a lazy punk only interested in skating by and disrespecting the establishment. I’m a good judge of character.”
“How?” You insisted with exasperation, causing your father to look down on you as if you were some stupid kid.
“You were out way past curfew last night - were you with him?” Your dad glowered, and evidently your expression gave him the answer he wanted, “You ran out the door without telling your mother where you were going or who you were with. She saw you climb into some van, for Christ sake. And the way Mrs. Redford described this hoodlum? The leather, the hair, the tattoos? What’s gotten into you?”
You held your ground firmly, glaring as you crossed your arms, “I don’t see what the issue is.”
“The issue is you’re acting out, you’re avoiding us, and this boy you’re seeing seems to be encouraging this behavior!” Your father raised his voice, “I don’t care that you’re eighteen now, you still live under my roof.”
“You don’t care about anything!” You can’t help but shout back, “You only care now because you’re worried I’ll make you look bad. You’re worried about stupid gossip!”
“That’s not what this is about!”
“We’re just worried about you,” Your mother tried to intervene in an even tone, drawing the attention of the both of you, “We don’t want you to lose sight of what’s important just because of a boy.”
You throw up your hands in defiance, your voice harsh, “What important things am I ‘losing sight of!?’”
“Don’t take that tone with your mother!” Your dad jumped back in, “The last thing you need your senior year is some punk distracting you from school, from skating. You need to consider your future. Don’t you want to get into a good school? Don’t you want to skate?”
“I don’t know what I want!” You admitted angrily, “Maybe I don’t want to go to college or skate or do the shit you tell me to! Maybe I just want to enjoy life a little.”
“Enjoying life doesn’t get you anywhere.” Your father glared, “We tell you these things to help you. So, stop hanging around this boy and start focusing on your future.”
“You didn’t care what I was doing before, why do you care now?” You challenged coldly, “You didn’t care when I was out late with Duncan, you didn’t care when I’d miss practice because I’d be out with Amelia or Janet. You only care now because it’s Eddie.”
You instantly realized you shouldn’t have mentioned his name. Not yet, at least, not in the middle of this argument. Yes, you wanted your parents to know you were “dating” some new, troublesome guy, but you didn’t want them to actually know who he was yet - you had hoped to build up a little more suspense first, a little more tension between you all. You hoped your face didn’t give away what you were thinking.
“Eddie?” Your father laughed as he said the name, “You call things off with this Eddie now, do you hear me?”
You looked between your parents’ faces - your father looked as stern and condescending as ever, and your mom looked like she was away somewhere in thought. Perhaps she was trying to pinpoint any Eddies she’d heard of before and figure out who the hell he is.
A frustrated sound leapt from your throat as you rose to your feet aggressively, the legs of your chair making a grating sound on the floor.
“Whatever,” You spun around to leave, seeing the time on the wall clock before shooting your parents a mocking look, “I’m going to be late. Great job getting me back on track.”
You knew just how rude your tone was, so you practically ran out of the kitchen to avoid your father’s wrath.
“Excuse me!?” His offended voice shouted after you. You scooped up your school bag and your car keys, running out the door without looking back.

Just like you suspected, you were late for your first period class, receiving a reprimanding from your teacher, which only served to piss you off even more. Today just wasn’t your fucking day. So, by the time you walked into your math class a couple hours later, it was actually something of a relief to see Eddie already there; why you were actually pleased to see him was a thought you weren’t quite ready to entertain.
He grinned once he spotted you, but the way you flopped into your seat caused his face to immediately twist with curiosity. He leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees, his legs situated in the aisle between you two.
“Feeling hungover, princess?” He asked with only a small jest in his tone, as if he could tell that you weren’t in the mood right now. His eyebrows furrowed together as you glared, although you knew he wasn’t the one that deserved the cold look.
“No.” You groaned, your jaw clenched tight enough to hurt your teeth. You sighed through your nose, trying to collect yourself - it was stupid to let this frustration eat at you, although you were always prone to holding onto grudges.
Eddie nudged your knee softly, so you met his eyes again. He stared at you patiently and inquisitively, “So, what’s wrong?”
You considered for a moment whether or not you wanted to tell him. With a sigh, you sat up in your seat, turning so that you mirrored Eddie, legs in the aisle and knees brushing his. You let your knees rest there, allowing the small amount of contact as if you needed it to ground you, as if you even enjoyed it.
“It’s my parents.” You start, looking down at where your knees met his. Your skirt was short and his jeans were ripped, so you were skin-to-skin. It didn’t matter, of course, you were simply trying to find something else to focus on, “They aren’t thrilled about you.”
“Oh, so you told them?” Eddie gave you a small grin, hoping to lighten your mood a little. And you wouldn’t admit it, but it was already beginning to work.
“One of my neighbors saw us together.” The bell rang in the middle of your sentence, but neither of you faced forward, eyes staying locked on one another.
“You seem pretty worked up about it.” His quiet tone had a hint of question to it, clearly wondering what exactly happened with your parents. Your teacher began going down the attendance sheet and the focus of today’s lesson.
“My dad’s a dick.” You responded in a whisper, “Just grilling me about shit - about you - as if I were a damn criminal or something.”
The sound of your name on your teacher’s lips drew your attention, and you harshly met her stare, “Would you two like to join the class now?”
You rolled your eyes as Eddie smiled lazily, the both of you turning to face forward. He reached out to give your knee one more playful nudge, as if to assure you that all would be well.
As the teacher began her lesson, you and Eddie kept stealing glances at one another conspiratorially, which helped to slowly ease the tension in your shoulders, to slowly relax your mood. After another couple of minutes, Eddie held a folded piece of paper between the two of you, obviously intending for you to read it. You slyly took it from him, fingers brushing against his as you wondered what he possibly had to say right now.
I think I can win him over.
The silly little doodle accompanying the note emphasized the joke, and you couldn’t help but grin at it just a little. You side-eyed Eddie, catching the way he smiled mischievously at you. With a roll of your eyes, you scribbled down a reply and handed it to him.
All the charm in the world wouldn’t win him over.
You watched Eddie’s face out of the corner of your eye, awaiting his reply with a hint of eagerness. The note was back in your hand once again.
So you admit I’m charming?
A small huff of a laugh escaped you as you rolled your eyes, beginning to write a response. But a presence walking down the aisle drew your attention, noticing your teacher was walking right to you. Your stomach dropped a little, realizing you were caught, but you simply looked up at her as if you did nothing wrong.
“Is there something you two would like to share with everyone?” She asked accusatory, crossing her arms in reprimand. You held her eyes with a challenging stare - god, this day just kept giving you hit after hit.
“Nothing in particular.” You retorted, hearing someone in the room make a nonplussed sound. Your teacher glowered at your attitude.
“Then I suggest you follow along or take this little conversation to detention.”
You gave her a mean, mocking smile, baring your teeth almost as if it was a threat, “I’ll take the detention, please.”
Again, more surprised sounds from the teacher and from students. You dared to look over at Eddie, who looked both taken aback and impressed at how difficult you were being today.
“Excuse me?” Your teacher challenged you.
Your eyes were dark as you stood your ground, “Detention. Please.”
The teacher looked between both you and Eddie with a huff, but a moment later a decisive look crossed her features, which put you on edge.
“Fine, if that’s how you want it to be. You can go to detention. Mr. Munson will stay here.” You gaped, your eyes glaring at the back of her head as she turned to walk back towards her desk, “No point in sending the both of you, right?”
You hated the fact that even your teacher was now mocking you, resented the fact that this day just kept piling more shit on your shoulders. You shared a look with Eddie, who looked sorry for landing you in trouble; you thought that you should’ve been upset at him for it, but you weren’t. It seemed like Eddie was the only person not getting on your last nerve today.
You rose to your feet as your teacher walked back towards you, a slip of paper in her hand outstretched to you. Haphazardly, you threw all your belongings in your bag before aggressively snatching the note from your teacher.
“You give that to the detention attendant, I don’t want to hear that you ran out on it.” She instructed with that hint of satisfaction in her tone. You glowered back at her.
“Bite me.” You spun on your heels as various students made, yet again, sounds of excitement at the harsh tone and words you threw at the teacher. As she started spewing some kind of reprimand that you weren’t listening to, you marched out of the room.
What a fucking day. You stomped down the hall, steam practically coming from your ears with how pissed off you were. In annoyance, you balled up the detention slip and tossed it at the nearest trash can, although you missed, which irritated you even more.
You’d never gotten detention before. Under different circumstances, you probably would have been thrilled to be sent to detention, to finally be enough trouble for a teacher to send you off. But after the morning you’ve been having, all you could feel was frustration.
Less than a minute after you stomped out of math class, you heard a door swing open and hit a wall somewhere behind you, prompting you to turn towards the noise. And once you saw who it was, you couldn’t help but smile with a surprising sense of glee.
Eddie Munson, your knight in shining armor.
He dashed down the hall to catch up with you, smiling just as widely as you were as he practically skidded to a halt in front of you. A small laugh escaped you as he hunched over in an attempt to catch his breath. He looked up at you with a mischievous twinkle in his eyes.
“Let’s get out of here.” He instructed simply, grabbing your wrist and dragging you down the hall with him. You allowed yourself to be led through the school, your smile settling into a simple, pleased smirk, relieved to have Eddie’s company.
“And where are we off to?” You asked, receiving a shrug from Eddie. Once you two had turned into a new hallway, he slowed so you could walk side-by-side, experimentally sliding his hand into yours. Once again, you still felt hesitant at more intimate contact such as this, but you allowed it without cringing too hard.
“Anywhere but here, you troublemaker.” He teased with a content smile, guiding you towards the school exit.
“So, we’re skipping?” You inquired, and you had to admit the idea really appealed to you right now - you’d had enough of today, and if you didn’t escape you thought you might explode with utter frustration.
“If that’s alright with you, princess.” Eddie gave you a silly expression while bumping your shoulder.
“Please get me the hell out of here.”
﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌
The most time you’d ever spent in a video arcade was for one pathetic round of Galaga while on a date with a boy your freshman year. Following that, you decided arcades weren’t for you - they were always crowded with a bunch of kids running around and shouting, and you’d branded all the adults that spent time at arcades as total losers. What could possibly be so appealing about games designed for children?
So, when Eddie pulled up in front of the Palace Arcade, you gave him a critical look, which he chose to ignore entirely as he stepped out of the van. He rounded to your side and opened the door, offering you a hand like a royal stepping out of a coach. You looked between his hand and his face for a moment, still judging the choice to come to an arcade. Reading the look on your face all too well, Eddie pulled his own affronted expression.
“What, too good for arcade games?” He put on an over-the-top, almost Shakespearean tone while placing a melodramatic hand to his chest, “But I’ve brought you to the Palace, the finest establishment in town for the ice princess.”
You rolled your eyes and tried not to laugh at him, unwilling to admit that even Eddie’s dumbest jokes were starting to win you over. Nonetheless, you took his outstretched hand with a large sigh, stepping out of the van despite your lack of interest in this place. Eddie, of course, smiled triumphantly, closing the door behind you and leading you into the arcade.
Given that it was only about noon, the place was virtually dead, which was quite the relief - no need to worry about loud, annoying kids getting in the way. Aside from the two of you and the Palace employee, there was a group of three college-aged boys clustered around Frogger and a lone man focused on something called Paperboy. None of the patrons looked up when you and Eddie entered, and the only reason the employee took any note of you is because it was simply his job. Of course, once he spotted you, he did a double-take.
The employee’s jaw hung slack as if in disbelief, and he nervously greeted you two, trying to keep his attention on Eddie. It appeared that the two were familiar with one another, and you wondered if Eddie really spent that much time here or if maybe this was a guy that used to go to school with the two of you. Either way, their interaction wrapped up quickly, and Eddie dragged you to the change machine.
As Eddie inserted a few bills, you looked around at the other arcade patrons, who finally seemed to take notice of you. In the group near Frogger, one of the boys nudged his friends, insisting they both look up; none so subtly, they all looked at you as the music from their arcade cabinet seemed to signal game over. You looked back with a raised brow and cold eyes, causing them all to quickly look away, although you were certain you’d probably catch them spying again. As you gazed back at Eddie, you couldn’t help the grin that spread across your lips - there was something about being the only chick in the arcade that amused you, something about being totally out of place and totally out of Eddie’s league.
Eddie stashed the change in his pocket, holding out a few quarters that you tentatively took from his hand.
“What first, princess?” You looked at him with a judgmental expression, causing him to narrow his eyes critically, “Come on, this’ll be fun.”
“Sure…” You looked around and assessed the arcade, pointing at the nearest cabinet without any consideration, “That one.”
Eddie huffed out a laugh at your choice while shaking his head, knowing you didn’t care one bit what game you started with, “Dig Dug, huh?”
You made another face at him, so he simply rolled his eyes and led you towards the game. He leaned against the cabinet while crossing his arms, giving you an expectant look; in turn, your brow scrunched.
Eddie shrugged, “Well, go for it - this one was your idea.”
“I don’t want to.” You responded as if affronted by the suggestion, “You play.”
Eddie once again rolled his eyes with an exacerbated grin, “I don’t play Dig Dug.”
“Then play something else.” You instructed stubbornly.
“You aren’t getting out of this one.” Eddie countered, motioning towards the cabinet he still rested against, “So, be a big girl and play the game.”
You gaped at his response, feeling a slight stir at his word choice. There was a challenging glint in his eyes that suggested he wasn’t going to back down easily, that he could volley with you all damn day. As you closed your mouth with a small purse to your lips, you looked around the arcade with a raised brow.
“I don’t want to play that one.” You crossed your arms, to which Eddie once more smirked at your stubborn determination.
“Then choose a different one.” He responded while mimicking your body language.
You narrowed your eyes at him before your gaze studied the rows of arcade cabinets, recognizing none of the names. This was something you were grossly uneducated on, arcades making just about as much sense to you as a foreign language. It wasn’t until you finally recognized the name of one that you allowed yourself to meet Eddie’s stare again.
“Okay. That one.” You once again pointed past his shoulder, so Eddie twisted around to see which cabinet finally caught your interest. A faint laugh escaped him as he looked back to you with an amused expression across his face.
“Oh, you wouldn’t like Donkey Kong.” His tone seemed to be daring you to argue, to prove him wrong. You pulled another face at him.
“I don’t like any of these. But I’ve seen that stupid monkey before.” Eddie shrugged in acceptance of your response as he continued to grin, pushing off the Dig Dug cabinet.
“If you insist.” He taunted while turning to walk towards Donkey Kong, you following behind him with a huff. But as you were nearly there, the gang of college kids beat you to it, causing both you and Eddie to halt; he began to turn to you, prepared to ask what the new plan was now that the one cabinet you showed interest in was taken.
Of course, you weren’t about to have that. Sure, you didn’t care an ounce about these video games and you had zero interest in actually playing, but you’d already had enough today, and you’d be damned if you let these guys play Donkey Kong instead of you. So, you brushed past Eddie with a determined look, marching up to them with all the authority in the world.
“Excuse you,” You started rudely, drawing all their eyes in your direction. None of the three really looked like the nerdy type, so none of them backed down from you the way that you were used to, “I’m playing that one.”
They shared a laugh, clearly amused by your attempt to intimidate them. One of the boys countered, “You’re outta luck, we were here first.”
You insisted more firmly, “Just move.”
One of them looked between you and Eddie, provoked by your attitude, “There’s a whole arcade, go find something else to play.”
They returned to the arcade cabinet as if you weren’t even there, which pissed you off even more. You groaned loudly, looking at Eddie and pointing harshly at the boys as if there was something he could possibly do about them. He simply shook his head and grabbed your elbow, lightly tugging you along.
“They beat us to it.” He said as if there was some unspoken arcade rule that you weren’t familiar with. You glared at the boys as Eddie led you down the row, grinning as if to calm you down, “Come on, I got something I think you’ll like.”
“Doubtful.” You countered like a child, catching the way Eddie smiled to himself, both amused and enervated by your attitude. The two of you came to a halt in front of something called Tapper, and you glanced up at Eddie, awaiting an explanation.
“This one’s easy,” he started while presenting the cabinet to you, “Just serve drinks.”
“Okay…” You took in the pixelated graphics on the screen, hesitantly holding up a coin as you considered the game.
“Come on, just give it a try.” Eddie urged. You looked at the simple instructions next to the joystick while finally loading the coin into the machine. As the game began, Eddie turned his attention to the next cabinet over.
Eddie was right about this game being easy, at least for the first few rounds, although once you reached the first “game over” screen you groaned with frustration. That didn’t stop you from inserting another coin and trying again, much to Eddie’s amusement. You were getting the hang of this and, although you weren’t ready to admit it, you were coming to even enjoy Tapper.
Eventually, you ran out of coins, so you returned your attention to Eddie, who had been caught up in his own game. You watched him for a few moments before realizing the college boys were no longer at the Donkey Kong cabinet. Although you shouldn’t have cared so much, you nonetheless felt a sudden eagerness to run over and hog the game you previously missed out on. Hell, you didn’t even know what that game was about, but considering your previous snub, you now simply had to play this damn game.
So, you turned your gaze back to Eddie, who was incredibly focused on the shooting game he was in the middle of, “Donkey Kong is open.”
“So, go play.” He responded with a far off tone, clearly caught up in what he was doing.
“I don’t have any coins.”
In an almost silly motion, Eddie nudged his hip in your direction, “I have some in my pocket.”
You looked down towards his hips, wondering why he didn’t simply pull his hand from the game for a moment to give you a few coins.
Impatiently, his eyes flicked over to you for only a moment; he could tell what you were thinking, “Just reach in and grab a few.”
“Uh, no.” Your voice oozed with attitude.
“Then no Donkey Kong.” He replied with a simple shrug. With a slight glare, you looked between his face and the screen, watching his hectic game for a few long moments. Your gaze drifted back towards Donkey Kong with a mild longing, but you quickly righted yourself - you did not care that much about a stupid arcade game. You could wait until Eddie was done, you didn’t need to play it that bad.
The sound of the front door opening drew your attention as a new man entered the arcade, and your first thought was “shit, is he going to play Donkey Kong?” Why the hell did you care so much? But you couldn’t risk missing out on the game again, so you returned your attention back to Eddie, taking him by total surprise as you reached into his pocket and extracted a handful of coins quickly before you could think about how intimate that action was.
“Jesus, warn a guy before you go digging around in his pants.” Eddie chided with a playful grin, not allowing his gaze to stray from the shooter in front of him.
“Shut up.” You countered while marching towards Donkey Kong, determination etched across your face as you relished in the stupid victory of finally being about to play this damn game.
Of course, you very quickly learned why Eddie had told you before that you wouldn’t like Donkey Kong. Your dumb little man in overalls lost all his lives within the first minute of you playing, and you let out an exasperated sigh as you slapped your hand down on the control panel. With a glare, you loaded another coin in, but due to your frustration you died even quicker than you had the first time, letting out another upset sound before you marched away from Donkey Kong as if the game had personally offended you.
Eddie was still focused on Robotron as you returned to his side with a huff, the sound causing the corner of his mouth to pull up. You glared at his face, “That game is stupid.”
“I told you.” He answered simply, amused by how easily you gave up on it.
“Why doesn’t it work?”
“Have you considered that you’re just bad at it?” Eddie’s eyes briefly look at you, that annoying grin of his not faltering for a moment. Your glare darkened as you turned to walk off, but Eddie’s voice stopped you from going anywhere, “Oh, come on, just wait. I’ll show you how to play the stupid monkey game.”
So, you waited impatiently for Eddie’s game to end, your eyes repeatedly drifting over to Donkey Kong as if in fear that someone else would take the machine from you. Once he was finally done with Robotron, Eddie gave you a teasing look, knowing that you were eager to return to the game that you supposedly didn’t like. With an adamant look, you spun around and marched back towards the machine, knowing that he was following right behind you.
“Just watch, I’ll play the first level for you.” Eddie instructed while loading in the money. He craned his neck back and forth, shaking out his arm as if he were warming up for some epic fight; you nearly smiled, but kept it to yourself. You leaned over Eddie’s shoulder a little as he began, “You have to be fast - this machine has a bit of a lag, so you need to think ahead.”
So, you watched Eddie play, annoyed at just how easy he made it look; evidently, he had a fair amount of practice. And with the first level completed in what appeared to be record time, Eddie stepped back, yanking you quickly in front of the screen to take over the controls. Just as quickly as the level started, though, you lost a life, jumping right into the line of a pixelated enemy. A frustrated noise left you, causing Eddie to laugh from behind you.
“You’ve got two more lives,” He stepped up closer to you, reaching around to put his hand over the jump button, “Lemme help.”
Working together, you managed to make a little bit of progress, but you all too quickly lost again, shoving the joystick in the wrong direction. As you huffed in annoyance once more, Eddie placed his free hand on the small of your back as if to remind you to calm down, the touch nearly causing you to jump from its gentleness.
“Okay, new plan.” Eddie stepped behind you, close enough that your back bumped against his chest. Your shoulders stiffened as he settled his hands on top of yours, your heart skipping as you realized you were pinned between him and the stupid Donkey Kong machine. Thank god he was behind you, because otherwise he would’ve seen the way your cheeks went red, the way your eyes widened with surprise.
You could feel Eddie’s breath against your ear, practically causing you to shudder, “Alright, let’s do this.”
As the level started again, you were grateful that Eddie was taking the reins, controlling your hands with his own, because your brain was way too jumbled to think clearly. Why the hell were you so nervous? How was Eddie Munson doing this to you? You were certain it had more to do with your disdain for people touching you, but you were far too confused to even begin to entertain why you felt so anxious with Eddie practically flush against your back.
You were so zoned out that you hadn’t even realized that the level was complete until Eddie stepped back, a victorious little laugh escaping him. Before you had time to even get your head on straight, the third level began, but you all too quickly fumbled, your game coming to a pathetic end. Composing yourself, you meet Eddie’s eyes with total coolness, hoping that the redness of your cheeks had gone away. His expression didn’t seem to indicate that he noticed anything off about you, so you took a deep breath.
“Help me again.” You instructed as you fished a coin from your pocket. Eddie looked mildly surprised by the instruction, as if he too was just realizing how intimate his assistance was the first time. You simply raised a brow at him while loading the machine with money, straightening your shoulders as he came up behind you once again.
You tried to focus on the game this time as Eddie placed his hands on top of yours again, doing your best to ignore how warm he was behind you, the way his cheek brushed against the crown of your head, how his grip on your hands seemed to be a little bit more firm. You took a couple of deep breaths and focused, approaching this the same way you did skating - with attentiveness to the goal. And your goal was to ignore Eddie and actually beat a level of this god damn monkey game.
So, you watched your little man run and jump across the screen studying the timing as Eddie moved your hands with his own, noting the subtle delay between the control command and the character movement on the screen. Even as you began to understand, you still recognized that it wasn’t going to be easy for you to beat as a total novice to gaming. As the first level came to an end, Eddie began to step back, his hands hovering just over yours, but you turned your head quickly, practically bumping foreheads as he stopped pulling away.
“Wait, one more round.” You instructed, his face so close to yours that you practically went cross-eyed trying to meet his gaze. You saw Eddie’s jaw clench slightly before you faced forward again, his hands settling on top of yours once way.
By the time you two completed the second level, you were grinning triumphantly, satisfied that you were winning, even if only because Eddie was helping you. As the screen went black for a brief moment, you glanced at the content expression of Eddie behind you, feeling his chin move against your head as he, too, smiled largely.
Instead of pulling away, Eddie asked simply, “One more?”
You hummed in agreement as the third level started, once more studying Eddie’s timing as he breezed through the game as if he’d played it a hundred times. For all you knew, he probably had. Just like with his guitar, Eddie’s hands moved with expertise, guiding yours with ease as you two once again completed the course on screen. This time, you let Eddie step back, feeling a little nervous as you realized you had to face Donkey Kong alone again. You also felt a very mild wave of disappointment, but you quickly shoved that aside so you could focus on your game.
But, of course, you struggled without Eddie’s assistance, fumbling the jump time and losing a life. You took a deep breath through your nose as you tried to focus, feeling Eddie’s gaze burning into you as the level started over. You tried to ignore the intensity of his stare as you started again, running through the level as fast as you could. You managed to get much farther than before, but you nonetheless made another mistake.
You looked towards Eddie, prepared to ask him for help, but he shut you down before you got a word out, “Oh no, you wanted to play this, remember? I can’t keep playing for you.”
You pouted only for a moment, returning your attention to the screen, trying and failing once more to beat the game. You threw your head back with an annoyed groan, stepping away from Donkey Kong while crossing your arms.
“I don’t see why people play this stupid game, it’s impossible.” You whined, causing Eddie to laugh while rolling his eyes.
“That’s the point - it’s challenging. You can’t be a winner all the time.” He teased while dipping his head down closer to yours, seeing right through your frustrations. To Eddie, it was obvious that you weren’t used to losing, and he loved how worked up you were getting over an arcade game of all things.
“If I’m not going to win, then I don’t want to play.” You countered childishly, your eyebrow raised as if daring him to comment on that. You spun on your heel and began to walk away from the offensive game cabinet, hearing Eddie following behind you.
“That’s part of the fun, ya know.” He started. You half expected him to sling his arm over your shoulders as he normally did, but this time he refrained, as if all that contact during Donkey Kong was just a little too much for one day. You threw him a look.
“Well, it’s not fun for me.” You weren’t sure where the hell you were walking off to considering that there wasn’t anywhere in the Palace to hide, but you were too caught up in simply being stubborn. Eddie laughed, rolling his eyes with a hint of fondness as he lightly snagged your arm and stopped you. You met eyes, Eddie grinning at your attitude that he was quickly becoming accustomed to.
“You say that now, but I guarantee you’ll be asking me to bring you back.” He teased, receiving a small glare from you in response. He shook his head a little, “Let’s go, your pouting is making this no fun.”
You could tell Eddie was just taunting you, so you gave his shoulder a small shove while pulling away from his hold. You wouldn’t dare admit that you actually had some fun, so instead you began for the exit, your tone nonchalant as you responded, “Thank god, if I stay here any longer the nerds might try to convert me.”
Behind you, Eddie shook his head fondly as he followed you out.

A Not-So-Disastrous Romance (Book 1) Chapter Sixteen
Kusuo Saiki x Reader
Chapter Sixteen: Taking Teruhashi Out (on a Not-Date)
Summary: Makoto (ew) shows up, and Saiki has to take precautions for his own life to not have more trouble. Luckily, he has (Y/N) to help him.
            Saiki crossed his arms and contemplated throwing Makoto out the window for the hundredth time since he met him. Saiki had been looking forward to this event all week. (Y/N) had finally come over and was going to show him how to properly make coffee jelly at home, but as soon as they’d gotten set up, Makoto Teruhashi had barged his way in crying about how Teruhashi was angry at him (rightfully so, he was being perverted as usual). He had ruined the entire night, and Saiki’s sanity wasn’t certain it could take much more of Makoto’s rambling.
            A single glance at (Y/N)’s weirded-out face confirmed they felt the same way and wanted him gone as soon as possible.
            “So, that’s what happened, and Kokomi hasn’t said a word to me since then,” said Makoto, finally finishing.
            “Go home, you perv,” said Saiki.
            “Please, please, do.” (Y/N) nodded aggressively.
            Unfortunately, Makoto ignored them to wallow in his own sadness and decided to talk some more. “To think we’re having a lover’s quarrel—”
            “You’re really not,” said (Y/N).
            “—I’m in such a pickle,” said Makoto. “Oh, by the way, when I say ‘lovers’ quarrel,’ I mean between Kokomi and me.”
            “We wish you didn’t,” sighed (Y/N).
            “I’m the only one who can have a lovers’ quarrel with Kokomi,” said Makoto.
            “Get to the point so you can get out,” said Saiki.
            Makoto leaned forward. (Y/N) leaned back. “Tomorrow my drama will be filming in my neighborhood. A lot of industry people will be there, too. Once they notice Kokomi’s beauty, that’s it. What do you think will happen if they scout her?!”
            “Don’t care,” said Saiki.
            “She’d be very successful,” said (Y/N), knowing Teruhashi would do very well due to her beauty and people’s love of her.
            “Yes! Right after her debut, she’ll be cast as the heroine in a TV drama,” said Makoto. “She’ll be the heroine in plays and movies. She’ll be in many commercials! She’ll even be stealing work from other popular actresses.” He scoffed. “I won’t allow it! Kokomi has no interest in showbiz. So, I’ll give you permission to tell her to avoid the filming location at all costs. But don’t say anything else, four eyes. Don’t even make eye-contact. You can’t even get within ten meters of her!” Makoto glared at Saiki.
            “That’s unreasonable for anyone,” said Saiki.
            “Well, I’d prefer to tell her myself, but we’re having a lovers’ quarrel, so don’t screw this up.” Makoto rose and left the room.
            “I don’t usually dislike people, but he really creeps me out,” said (Y/N), shivering.
            “And now he’s gotten me involved,” said Saiki.
            “Hey, don’t worry, I’ll tell Kokomi so you don’t have to be more involved,” said (Y/N) brightly.
            “Thank you.” Saiki was so grateful to have (Y/N) in his life. They really were incredible.
l
            “My brother came to see you?” said Teruhashi. “Oh, I’m sorry he caused you trouble.”
            “That’s putting it lightly,” said Saiki.
            “It’s nothing,” lied (Y/N).
            “But, uhm, why is Saiki standing all the way over there?” said Teruhashi.
            (Y/N) looked behind them where, ten meters away, Saiki stood. “Your brother.”
            “What?” said Teruhashi. “Oh, my, I’m so sorry about him.” She smiled sweetly. Stupid big brother! He’s giving Saiki trouble! I have to offer a token of apology. Hmm Ah! She looked up to see (Y/N) and Saiki walking away since they’d given the message. “W-Wait, Saiki, are you free after school today?” That’s right, apology. Saiki, how luck you are to get this opportunity. I have to apologize, so my hands are tied.
            Why aren’t you considering (Y/N)? thought Saiki.
            “Would you like to…go out for some tea on our way home?” said Teruhashi, looking eagerly at Saiki. “Or go to a neighboring town since they’re filming here?”
            (Y/N) felt their heart drop since this was so much like a date, and no other guy in school would even think about saying no. They hoped Saiki would, though. It would hurt if Saiki wanted to date Teruhashi and not them. It really would.
            I’ll treat you for a date! Now feel honored! Even though this is only as a token of apology. Teruhashi glanced at (Y/N). And (Y/N), although I like you, you get a lot of attention from Saiki, and it’s my turn as the perfect pretty girl. Now, come on, and say “oh, wow.”
            Saiki, about to say no, paused and decided to say something else that would create problems for him, but it would make a point to Teruhashi about her thoughts about (Y/N)—that was one thing he didn’t let slide.
            “(Y/N) and I are free this afternoon. We’ll accept your apology.” Saiki turned and walked away.
            Teruhashi’s jaw nearly dropped open as Saiki, seemingly (and actually) unperturbed, invited someone else out with him and her when she had given him the chance to be alone with her.
            (Y/N) found themself grinning. “See you later, Kokomi!”
            “Right, yeah.” Teruhashi raised a hand, still in shock. But he should’ve said, “oh wow…”
            “Didn’t want to be alone with her?” asked (Y/N) teasingly.
            “If I said no, her followers would’ve hated me. I don’t want that attention,” said Saiki. And, in a more truthful sense, the rudeness would hopefully make Teruhashi stop liking him as much (which, apparently, he’d have to try some more). Also, Saiki got more time with (Y/N). He didn’t mind that.
l
            After school, Teruhashi, Saiki, and (Y/N) ended up at the next town over. Unfortunately for Saiki, attention was coming to their group as everyone watched the perfect pretty girl grace their streets with her mere presence. Additionally, Saiki was dealing with Teruhashi’s fantasies of him saying “Oh, wow” and how she believed he was totally in love with her and freaking out about the chance to be close to her.
            Luckily, Saiki had (Y/N) walking alongside him, and Saiki could put up with a lot to spend time with them.
            “What’s that guy near her doing?” whispered one guy.
            “I bet he’s her funding source,” sneered another.
            “I wanna punch him from behind,” said a third.
            I don’t want to deal with that, though, thought Saiki.
            “Kusuo, Kokomi, do you like sweets?” said (Y/N), saving the day (in Saiki’s mind) yet again. “I saw an ad for a café nearby that looks super good.”
            I’ll have some cake with (Y/N) before leaving.
l
            Closed. The café’s sign was turned around to say it was closed.
            (Y/N) sighed, disappointed. “I really thought it would be open. Sorry, Kusuo, Kokomi.” They really were sorry. They wanted to have a nice time with Saiki (and Teruhashi), but it hadn’t worked out.
            “Well, we can always go over to the shopping district,” suggested Teruhashi, eager to try to get some of her own ideas in to impress Saiki. “We came all this way. Let’s find some good new places. Let’s go!”
            Unfortunately for Teruhashi, an hour of walking at her direction passed, but they found zero restaurants. Teruhashi’s glowing smile had fallen into a sickly attempt at one due to exhaustion. (Y/N) was feeling peckish, and Saiki was also losing interest in continuing to follow Teruhashi. That being said, it was fairly fascinating to see everything not work out for Teruhashi.
            “E-Excuse me.” A boy nervously stepped forward and blushed. “May I help you with something?”
            “We’re looking for a place to get some tea,” said Teruhashi sweetly, her glow returning.
            “O-Oh, yeah, sure!” said the boy excitedly.
            “Hey, I saw her first!” shouted another.
            “I’ll show you the way,” offered another from the crowd.
            Never mind. Everything worked out for her.
            “The sun is harsh today. Please borrow this parasol,” offered a man.
            “Here’s a coupon to the café,” said the first boy again. “I’ll go ahead and reserve a table for you.”
            “Wow, thank you,” said Teruhashi, smiling.
            “Oh, wow!” said the entire crowd.
            “It’s amazing how everything works out for her,” said (Y/N). They laughed. “I need some of that charisma.”
            “I think you’re fine the way you are,” said Saiki. Besides, he’d watch out for them. As long as he was around, they’d be alright.
l
            At the café, Teruhashi continued to be surrounded by other men while (Y/N) and Saiki sat across from her eating cake and drinking tea. She was satisfied, though, for now, since she had a whole group of people going “oh, wow!”
            Saiki made me totally forget it, but now I remember. I’m a perfect pretty girl! Having recharged her confidence, she turned back towards (Y/N) and Saiki, eager for more “oh, wows.”
            Yare yare. Teruhashi really is tough. I’ll just get through this and hurry home with (Y/N). I wonder if they’re done filming.
            (Y/N) sighed happily as they finished their tea. This is nice. I’ll have to come back here at some point when there aren’t as many people crowded around. And I should bring Kusuo.
            Saiki straightened as he heard Makoto and his director thinking about how they were changing location. They’re coming this way?! He took another bite of his cupcake. I should really do something soon. He took his time savoring the sweets.
            “These were delicious, weren’t they, Saiki, (Y/N),” said Teruhashi.
            “Yeah, they were super good,” said (Y/N), smiling.
            We took our time, but this town is big. Hopefully we won’t run into him.
            Nothing worked out for Saiki, though, and due to the ground, Makoto and his assistant decided to stop at that café.
            Saiki stood. We better leave quickly.
            “Are you ready to go, Kusuo?” said (Y/N).
            Saiki stared at them and then out the window. (Y/N) observational skills paid off, and they saw the blue hair of Makoto Teruhashi in the van outside.
            “You’re right, it’s time to go,” said (Y/N), standing. “We finished everything, after all.”
            “Can we wait a bit?” said Teruhashi. “They want me to shake hands with them, so…” She smiled and let the line form, focusing on being the perfect pretty girl.
            “Kusuo, what do we do?” whispered (Y/N).
            “I’ll flip the sign.” His psychokinesis flipped the open sign to closed.
            They tensed, but the two men walked back to their van instead of walking in.
            “We did it,” said (Y/N).
            “We should still probably leave in case they return,” said Saiki.
            (Y/N) nodded vigorously. “Good idea.”
            “6,850 yen, please,” said a waiter.
            “Oh, I’m paying!” said Teruhashi, smiling and walking over. “How much is it?”
            “Oh, you are? Two hundred yen, I guess,” said the waiter, blushing.
            “Oh, that cheap? And I have coupons,” said Teruhashi happily.
            “Then it’s twenty yen,” said the waiter.
            “I hope I get reborn as a pretty girl in my next life,” said Saiki.
            “I think you’re fine the way you are,” teased (Y/N), smiling at Saiki.
l
            “I wonder if they’re done filming,” wondered Teruhashi. “But Saiki, (Y/N), what do you think?”
            “We’ll go straight home,” said Saiki.
            To support him—since (Y/N) knew at this point Saiki wanted to really go home, so they wouldn’t push his boundaries—(Y/N) nodded. “I should probably get my homework done sooner rather than later.”
            Saiki paused, his clairvoyance showing him that the film crew was at the train station. He nearly sighed. It appeared they’d be stuck here a while longer.
            Teruhashi perked up, deciding that Saiki must be fighting with his own insecurity about hanging out with her.
            (Y/N) tilted their head, understanding they were facing another obstacle.
            “Hey, if you’re not in a rush, you and I could hang out some more, Saiki,” said Teruhashi. She smiled. “Even if (Y/N) heads home, you don’t have to go.”
            “Well, Kusuo and I were going to do homework together, so I guess I have to wait,” said (Y/N).
            Teruhashi deflated slightly. I thought I’d get some alone time with Saiki. It’s almost as if (Y/N) knows to stick around.
            They are good at covering for me. Saiki liked that—yet another characteristic in a long list that he liked about them.
            “Oh, look, I haven’t been to a place like that for a long time!” said Teruhashi as she led them to an entertainment arcade. “There are so many choices!”
            This might actually be a fortunate turn of events in terms of making Teruhashi hate me, thought Saiki.
            “A karaoke place, so cool!” said Teruhashi, trying to hint to Saiki. I don’t feel like bowling. I wanna go karaoke.
            With that, it was decided.
l
            “Another split? I have no luck today,” laughed (Y/N) as they, once again, had a terrible turn in bowling.
            Since Teruhashi didn’t want to, Saiki had absolutely wanted to. This would help get her to lose interest in him.
            “Strike!” announced the computer screen after Saiki went.
            Teruhashi deflated.
            The entire game, Saiki made sure to humiliate (Y/N) and Teruhashi with his “skill” (psychic power). That way, Teruhashi would really lose her feelings for him. It was a little mean, but Saiki was eager to have her stop chasing him around. It caused him trouble. At least (Y/N) wasn’t embarrassed and just laughed at their own lack of bowling ability.
            Still, Teruhashi wasn’t done yet, but Saiki was up to every challenge.
            When she saw a claw machine with a gorillabbit, he instead won the strawberry stuffed animal and handed it to (Y/N). They turned red and fought to thank him normally, trying to rationalize that Saiki was just trying to frustrate Teruhashi. (Obviously he did it just to annoy Teruhashi, not because he saw them looking at it earlier and thought they’d like it). Teruhashi deflated once more.
            When she challenged Saiki to table tennis, he beat her terribly. History repeated itself in darts and video games. Soon, Teruhashi was just sitting on a bench with a blank look on her face, disinterested and disappointed in everything.
            Maybe we went a little far. “Is she going to be okay?” said (Y/N), looking at her faraway stare.
            “She’ll rebound once someone says ‘oh, wow’ to her,” said Saiki.
            “Let’s head home,” sighed Teruhashi.
            “Good idea,” said Saiki.
            “It is getting late,” said (Y/N).
            “I’m exhausted,” sighed a voice behind them on the bench facing the other direction.
            (Y/N) and Saiki’s eyes widened, and they whirled.
            It was Makoto and part of his team. Because of all the people, Saiki hadn’t differentiated Makoto’s thoughts from anyone else’s, and now they were right there near them and Teruhashi.
            “Four eyes?” said Makoto, blinking. “Other one?”
            I don’t even get a name?
            “Kokomi?!” cried Makoto, seeing his sister walking away. His surprised gaze turned to anger as he assumed Saiki was on a date with Teruhashi (which was bizarre since (Y/N) was also there, but Makoto doesn’t have a good head on his shoulders).
            “What’s wrong?” asked his assistant, walking over.
            “We have to go,” said Saiki, standing and grabbing (Y/N)’s hand. He pulled them behind him, and they followed quickly.
            “Hey, Kokomi, come on!” said (Y/N) brightly, and when she looked confused, Saiki made a drastic move and dragged her along by the hand.
            “They held her hand! Get those two!” shouted Makoto, and his people looked around wildly to try to spot them.
            I thought he didn’t want her to get attention! thought (Y/N) as Saiki pushed Teruhashi into a photo booth.
            “Hey, what—” The flash went off, and Teruhashi blinked before looking back at Saiki. In the haze of light, she drew her hand back. Oh, my! How dare he take my hand and push me into a photo booth. He wants photos of me that badly?! So selfish. And yet…why am I this excited? To know he was willing to be so confident, so forward…wow.
            Saiki nearly stared in astonishment as Teruhashi went back to liking him even more, but he just retreated to another photo booth to avoid the search party Makoto had instigated. He and (Y/N) stood silently as the men ran past and the photos flashed in the other booth to keep Teruhashi distracted (and, now, invested in her fantasy that Saiki wanted something to remember her by).
            Saiki sighed. “Yare yare. She likes me even more now.”
            “I’m sorry, Saiki,” said (Y/N), giving him a half-hearted smile. “But she does seem to really like you.” And although I think I like you for other reasons and am more aware of it, I can understand.
            “I should have let you take her hand,” said Saiki.
            (Y/N) shrugged. “Everyone makes a mistake.” They smiled and lifted their hands, still holding each other. “And my hand was already taken.” They spoke teasingly, but there was a warmth that, if Saiki knew their thoughts, he’d see as affection above that of friendship.
            Saiki looked down at their hands and contemplated it for a moment. Although he was not one for physical touch, he’d initiated this, and now that he was holding (Y/N)’s hand, he found he didn’t want to let go. They were warm, and it was comfortable. Just like talking with them or spending time with them, it felt natural to be this close to (Y/N).
            “Do you want to take a photo?” said Saiki.
            (Y/N) brightened and looked at him. “How did you know I wanted to?” They knew he couldn’t read their mind with their germandium earrings on (which they would never take off).
            He didn’t. He just knew that he suddenly wanted to capture this moment, to remember how nice it was to be with (Y/N), the person he had a crush on. “You mentioned you like having photographs to remember moments to Yumehara while we were Okinawa on the beach.” And I hope you had fun with me, even if I was focused on getting Teruhashi to stop liking me.
            (Y/N) smiled. “I’d love to, Kusuo.”
            Saiki really liked hearing the word love and his name in the same sentence when it came from (Y/N).
l
            Saiki looked at the photobooth pictures in his hand in his room. Carefully, he placed it on his desk, leaning against his plant, so he could see it clearly. He sat quietly and looked at it with a now-familiar warmth glowing in his chest.
            Three photos stared back at him.
            One had Saiki looking emotionless as usual while (Y/N) beamed and raised their hands—still entwined—like a superhero in the air.
            The second had (Y/N) making half a heart with their pointer and middle finger while Saiki looked at it.
            The third has Saiki completing the heart, still no expression, but his gaze was firmly on (Y/N)’s joyful face.
            As he looked at the pictures, Saiki smiled.

Paring: Daemon Targaryen × reader, Harwin Strong x reader, Criston Cole x reader
Warnings: Swearing, smut, child birth
1.03
You blink away unshed tears as you stare up at Ser Harwin; the look on his face was earth-shattering. No traces of anger or bitterness could be detected on his handsome face; the softness in his eyes made you feel nothing but guilt. You should never have believed the rumors, given into your husband's taunting or gone near Criston Cole.
You’re unaware that you’re crying until Harwin wipes them away with the pads of his thumb. “Prince Daemon told me your news; congratulations, princess.” He leans forward and kisses your forehead, and in a quiet voice, he says, “He also told me what he said to you. I wish I’d known sooner.”
Ser Harwin wasn’t a fool; he knew his beloved princess’s outburst of believing the rumors surrounding him and Princess Rhaenyra being true hadn’t come from thin air, but he had no idea Daemon was the one behind it. The Targaryen prince thrived in chaos, but after causing so much damage, the knight was grateful to be away from the keep for some time; otherwise, he might have done something to get himself executed.
“Do you forgive me?”
Harwin sighs, “There’s nothing to forgive. It was a misunderstanding.”
Pouting, you shake your head. “I should never have doubted you... henujagon īlva, valzȳrys.” (Leave us, husband.)
You wait until you hear Daemon leave; he didn’t need to be involved in your conversation, and you knew he wouldn’t be able to resist if he was within earshot. You take Harwin’s large hand in yours and say, “I love my husband; he’s the other half of me. Targaryens are made to burn together, but I love you too. I don’t know how to explain it; it’s a different kind of love. Since I was a girl, I always knew I’d marry Daemon, regardless of how I felt, but I chose to be with you. You make me feel safe and—”
“What is it you’re trying to tell me?” Harwin wipes away another fallen tear. “I’ve memorized each time you’ve confessed your love to me, which is how I know something is wrong. I can see it in your eyes.”
“I don’t know whose baby this is. I forgot to drink moon tea after the last time we lay together.”
His blue eyes fill with tears. “Prince Daemon will be the father.”
“I’m sorry.”
Your heart aches a little when Harwin hugs you; he was a good man. A far better person than you, Daemon, or Criston. He wasn’t selfish, violent, or entitled. You only wish you’d never questioned his loyalty to begin with.
“There’s something else I need to tell you.”
As the months passed, your body changed, and the gorgeous gowns you had made could no longer hide how large your bump had gotten. Rhaenyra often thought you were carrying more than one baby when your bump first started to swell, but now you were convinced she was right.
Daemon smooths his hand gently over the fabric of your dress, feeling the baby kick beneath. You were comfortable laying on your left side with multiple pillows fluffed around you to keep you in that position. Your husband lay behind you with his face nuzzling into the side of your neck.
“Have you spoken much with Ser Harwin?”
“No,” you say, feeling your lip tremble slightly. “Perhaps it is for the best; the less he is near during my pregnancy, the less people will talk.”
Daemon kisses your cheek. “The baby could look exactly like us, and the Greens would still gossip. I suspect the same will happen with Rhaenyra as soon as she has an heir.”
Your sister and her husband, Ser Laenor, had gone to visit various houses in the realm on behalf of your father, who was too ill to travel the distance himself. Although they had gone on dragonback, a large number of knights, including Ser Harwin, had been sent to protect them. When you confessed your antics with Cole to Ser Harwin, he was mad for a while but insisted he still wanted to be with you; he just needed some time.
“And what if the baby doesn’t look like us?” You knew no matter what, you’d love and protect your child fiercely, but you needed reassurance from Daemon. “I’ve been beyond foolish; I’ve given them the opportunity to make my child’s life miserable before they are even born.”
“I will cut out the tongues of anyone who dares question the legitimacy of our child. Any baby you have will be an extension of you; it would be impossible for me not to love them.” He rubs his hand along your stomach again. “This is my son or daughter growing inside you. Nothing anyone says will change that.”
“Princess, it’s time to push again.”
“I can’t! I can’t!” You sob, clutching onto the bed sheets tightly. The pain was overwhelming; you were convinced this is what dying felt like.
“Push!”
The midwives help guide you through the last few pushes until your daughter finally enters the room. She is placed on your chest, and you sob with happiness, “She’s perfect—oh fuck.”
Your daughter is quickly carried away to be cleaned up as the midwife pushes your legs open again. “Time to do this second time, princess.”
Daemon hums while gently rocking your daughter Daella to sleep, while your son Gaemon suckles at your breast. They were only a few hours old, but it already felt like you'd spent a lifetime loving them.
“Perhaps when you are feeling up to it, we can pick dragon eggs for the baby’s.”
You smile and say, “That would be nice.”
With Syrax having laid another clutch of dragon eggs, you were on your way to the dragon pit to pick one while being accompanied by your husband and sworn protector, but before you could leave the courtyard, your waters broke. Ser Harwin immediately picked you up and carried you back to your chambers, while Daemon sent for the maester and midwives.
“There, there,” Daemon says before gently placing your daughter into the crib next to your bed.
You smile down at her. Daella shares your pale complexion; her silver hair and the shade of her purple eyes were an exact match for yours. Gaemon got almost all his features from you, like his sister; his skin was pale and his hair silver, except his eyes were a dark brown.
“I think he’s had his feed,” you say when Gaemon stops feeding and his eyelids slowly start to close.
Daemon takes him from your arms so you can readjust your nightgown. He kisses the baby on the forehead. “They really are perfect.”
Sitting underneath the weirwood tree, she smiles as Daella attempts to walk along one of the thick roots sticking out of the ground, with your loyal knight Ser Harwin right behind her, ready to catch her the second she slips. Gaemon lays back, his head resting against your legs, as you read a story about dragons out loud. Both eggs had hatched in the cradle, and your children were now getting to the age where they understood how powerful and magical dragons are.
“Careful, princess,” Harwin says softly. “Slow down before you fall.”
Daella grins up at the knight before jumping onto a different root. It wouldn’t be long before curiosity got the better of her, and she attempted to climb the tree.
When screeching comes from the distance, Gaemon points to the sky and says, “Mama, look! It’s kepa!”
You look up and see the Blood Wyrm flying in the direction of the dragonpit. Daemon always made a point of returning from dragon riding before supper time so he could dine with his family. When you lower your gaze from the sky, you are met with the cold gaze of Ser Criston Cole. You often notice the knight observing your son and daughter from a distance, but he makes no attempt to interact with them.
Although Cole would never admit it, you had a feeling he would risk his life for them just as Daemon and Harwin would.
Harwin takes one of the pebbled nipples into his mouth while you lean over him, your hands pressing against his chest. Daemon kisses the back of your neck, occasionally nipping at your sensitive skin with his teeth as he thrusts into you from behind. Over time, the three of you had come to an agreement that when the time came and you wished to have another baby, you and Harwin couldn’t fuck as you normally would, eliminating any chances of him getting you pregnant since you wouldn’t be drinking moon tea. But you still wanted to be intimate with Harwin, and your ever-devoted husband came up with an idea.
Daemon’s voice is cocky as he says, “So, Ser Harwin, how do you feel about our princess taking what she wants from us at the same time?”
Harwin grins. “Do you think you could take both of us?”
“Yes, I want you both.”
“Greedy girl!” Daemon smacks your ass.
Your heart races with anticipation at the thought of having both of them inside you at the same time. You're used to making love to them both, but this would feel different—more intimate, more primal. Harwin and Daemon had mutual respect for one another, but they mainly bonded over how much they loved your little family.
Your husband chuckles softly, his warm breath caressing your ear. “You’ll get what you desire, my love. I’ve bet you’ve thought about this plenty of times before, haven’t you?”
Feeling your cheeks heat up, you nod.
A princess is desperate to feel her husband and lover fill her up at the same time.
Daemon slowly withdraws his shaft from your cunny, leaving you aching for more. He sits down on the bed beside Harwin, but before you have the chance to move over to his lap, the knight hooks his hands under your thighs and pulls you up until you are hovering over his face. Not wasting time, Harwin starts flicking at your sensitive clit with his tongue.
Daemon smirks as he listens to your whine. He had already ‘prepared’ both your holes before Harwin joined you in the bedchamber. After coming apart on Harwin’s lips, Daemon gently pulls the small cock-shaped object from your anus, then pulls you onto his lap so you are facing him, and slides his cock into your cunny again.
He leans back and pulls you down with him, gripping your shoulders and spreading them while Harwin readjusts himself behind you. The thought of having them both causes your clitoral area to throb, “Please.”
Harwin guides his thick cock to where you’re aching for him. With a gentle nudge, he pushes past your resistance and enters your tight hole. You gasp as he fills you completely. The sensation of having them both inside you is foreign and exhilarating. Harwin begins to rock his hips gently, slowly pulling them out before pushing them back in again, while Daemon thrusts upwards at a harsher pace.
“How does it feel? Daemon asks, pinching your nipple between his fingers. “Good as you imagined?”
“So, so good.”
Your mind becomes hazy with pleasure when one of them starts rubbing fast circles on your clit. You come apart, squeezing both of them tightly. Harwin shoots his seed inside you, then Daemon follows shortly after, coating your cunny in his seed, which he will hopefully take.
The knight slowly pulls you out, then brushes your sweaty hair out of your face and kisses you deeply. Daemon smirks, “Take your time catching your breath, my good knight, as we will be here all night.”

"So. . ."
Tumblr media
(You were lying down on a couch. You were doing woodcarving; it was theraputic. Mirabelle had just come over from cleaning up and sat at the other end of the couch.)
"Hello Mirabelle, got any questions for your friendly star~"
(She tittered at that.) "Hehe, maybe a few. Even if it, might not matter much."
"Talking is still nice, ask away."
"Well. . ." (She thought for a second.) "Well are you, doing ok?"
"???" (That took you by surprise. You were expecting something about how the loops worked, or where they came from.) ". . . I'm, well I'm doing great! We've only been doing this for a few loops and that's practicaly No time at all~"
"W-well, I suppose, but I meant more in general."
(You paused carving.) "Hmm?"
"Well, Siffrin said you showed up soon after we beat the King. And, well, I was wondering, has it been alright? I-I mean, sharing a body with Sif and all. A-and like, since we didn't know you were around did we do something that made you-"
"Oh hush Mirabelle." (You twirl your dagger casually.) "It was a lovely time in Bambouche, really! The beach was just so nice, it was a good way to meet Nille too! No need to explain the whole being a star thing~"
"I guess so. . ."
"I will say, as much as I like Stardust," (You lower your tone to a dramatic one.) "Sharing a head with them is agony sometimes."
(She giggles again.) "Is it really that hard? Or. ."
"It's complicated. So, so complicated." (You thougt for a moment.) "Talking to eachother is like. . . Almost like someone else is having thoughts in your own head. And you have thoughts back. It can be hard to tell whos thoughts are whos, but you can 'talk' very fast."
"Because you're just thinking to eachother?"
"In a way~" (You tap your chin with your knife.) "It's hard to explain, but I might to better a better job next time, tee hee~"
(Another giggle.) "It makes some sense, I think."
"From what I've read it's a very complex disorder." (Odiles voice. You turn, she was finding a place to sit down.) "Each person experiences it differently too."
"Complex doesn't even start to describe it. . ." (You decide to just put away your carving.) "Headaches are almost constant."
"With how Siffrin thinks? Well I wouldn't wish that on anyone."
"Oh the burdens we must bare."
"What burdens are we bareing today?" (It was Isabeau walking in now.)
"The big furry types of course~"
"Ha! Haha!"
"Well you two have something in common."
"Tee hee~"
(You sat up and made room or Isabeau on the couch. He sat down and talked.) "Bonnie and Nille are just putting some leftovers away." (He looked over at Mirabelle.) "You're sure there's no bruising? Bonnie still has a headache."
(. . .)
"I'm positive, I double and tripple checked."
(For the love of Stars will you just tell me what I missed already?!? CLEARLY something happened you're not telling me.)
(I will not tell you.)
(You are infuriating.)
"Kid probably just needs a lie down." (Isa comments.)
"Once this is over we all do." (You say, you still felt exhausted from all this time craft. Will you at least tell me when we're out of this blinding loop?)
(I can agree to that.)
"Speaking of such. Would you mind if we try talking to Stardust now?" (Odile asked.)
(You nod.) "If ever there was a time for it~"
". . . So how do we do this?" (Asked Mirabelle.)
"Well, first I'll get Siffrin back here. It might get a bit confusing for us but don't worry about that~" (You thought for a moment.) "Although, Isabeau, if that mind craft is still afflicting Siffrin, could you try making sure he doesn't do anything stupid?"
"Uh, alright! I think I can do that."
"I'd like to ask Siffrin the questions if that's alright." (Odile had gotten up from her seat and walked over.)
"Of course, and Mirabelle if you could. . ."
"Morale support?" (She suggested.)
"Morale support!"
"Perfect, moral support it is."
(Alright. . . Siffrin. . .)
(You breath in, and out. Stardust, where just where are you Stardust. You were forced out quite abruptly, but you could come back with. . . The thoughts of Isabeau? No no, something bad maybe? Probaly not. What about his favorite foods? Oh well they did love that Pan Au Chocolate-)
(Huh?)
(You feel a bit dizzy. There you are Stardust~)
(Loop? What happened. I was forced out of front by Mal du Pays, I didn't remember much afterwards. You're here because they want to ask you a few questions. Yes? Why though?)
(They're worried about you. Something happened. So if you don't mind. . .)
(You blink a few times, you had a mild headache but it cleared fast.) "Uh. . ."
"Siffrin?" (Huh? Or Mirabelle was at your side. Isabeau and Odile too.)
(You rub your head.) "Hi uh. . . What happened?"
(Mirabelle glanced over to Odile, who started talking.) "Are you feeling alright, Siffrin?"
"Dazed, headache, confused. Did something happen??"
"I'm getting to that." (Odile continued.) "Do you remember what happened?"
"Uhm. . . I was talking to Ramos? Yeah, yeah Ramos came over to see Isabeau."
(You glance between the three of them. Loop what's going on?)
(Mental check in, Stardust.)
"And what did you talk about."
"It was. . . Right! We were chatting about our adventures, how we met Isabeau, and uh. . ."
(You glance at Isa as Odile continues.) "What else?"
"Well, well, they were curious if Isabeau mentioned them at all." (Why was it so hard to remember?)
"And you said. . ."
(You smiled.) "I said 'of course he did!'"
(. . .Stars.)
(Huh? Did you say something wrong? They all looked worried. Isabeau spoke up.) "Are. . . Are you sure Sif?"
"Positive, right?" (You think hard.) "Because. . . Because you talked about them helping you for the Defenders exams?"
(Isabeau looked. . . Sad? What was going on?!?)
"That, didn't happen, Siffrin." (Odile said.) "I'm, sorry but that's not true."
"Huh?!?"
(You could feel your breathing quicken. What do they mean??? Ramos was, was Isabeaus best friend, right? Hadn't you been excited to see them?!? That's why you came here in the first place right???)
(You have a headache. What was going on?!? No, no Ramos was your friend right?)
"Siffrin?" (You turn to Isabeau, he was holding out a hand. You grab it and squeeze. He doesn't even flinch.) "It's. . . Well, just take a breath first, ok? With me? Just like you showed us, right?"
(Right, right, just breathe. In. . . . and Out. . .)
(Feeling better, Stardust?)
(No, yes, maybe. Just. I'm just confused.) "Alright, alright, please tell me what happened, please."
"Siffrin, well, Ramos isn't really, a good person right now, I think." (You turn to Mirabelle as she continues.) "They, well, Loop told us that they've been effecting people with Mind Craft. You included."
(??????????)
(It's a craft type that effects ones memories, ones mind. Your perception of Ramos has been altered, Stardust.)
(Odile talking now.) "It should be reversable, but from what I know it might be more difficult as it may be powered by a wish. If that's the case it could. . ."
"It would just take a while!" (Mira jumps in.) "But! The good news is Loop isn't effected?"
(Your breathing is getting heavy again. What? But, Ramos was a big figure in Isabeaus life, right? There where all those stories! Like, like.)
(You cannot remember.)
(It's a trick, Stardust~ A nasty one at that.)
(You lean into Isabeau, you feel lightheaded.) "A-are you sure? I, I mean. . ." (It. . . It was really hard to believe. You had this feeling, this instinct, that Ramos was a friend, the best, the. . .)
"Sorry Sif." (Isa gently put a hand on your head. You didnt flinch.) "We'll get this figured out, ok?"
". . . Promise?"
"I promise!"
"Of course I promise!" (Mirabelle chimed in.)
"I don't want to see what happens when your memory gets worse. I promise we'll figure it out." (Odile adds.)
(You nod. And sigh.) ". . . Thank you."
(Your head hurts. Loop, can you, can you please just deal with this?)
(Of course Stardust~ It might be better since-)
(Because Ramos might still be able to effect me. Yeah. I wouldn't want to hurt anyone.)
(You breathe in, and out. And in the future, you can take over in a pinch if needed, ok?)
(Same back to you. stars, even for Mal too. Just in case.)
(Thank you.)
(. . . . .)
Tumblr media
[You got the Memory of Switching! When equipped, this will make it easier for you to switch out with your headmates, even durring battle!]
(You pause a second before moving. Isabeau is comfortable, he's got a hand on your head. No need to pull away immediatly.)
(Is now really the time?)
(Hush you. Stardust's gone now, let me have this.)
(You took one more second before getting up and stretching.) "Well! That was quite enlightening~"
"Loop?"
"Yes yes, Stardust decided to go for now, didn't trust themself to act rational."
"Aww. . ." (Isabeau awkwardly rubbed his side.) "I can't imagine how he must be feeling."
"Now where have I heared that before." (Odile adds, going back to her own seat.)
"We miss anything?" (It was Nille, she and Bonnie where walking in.)
"Just checked in on Siffrin." (Odile sighs.) "Unfortunatly, the mind craft stuck."
"Crab" (Nille sat down on the ground.)
"Stupid Crabbing mind crab" (Bonnie stormed over to a chair and sat down.)
"Language."
(You laugh.) "You'll never get Bonbon to stop swearing at this rate."
"Oh I will!" (She replied, rolling her eyes.)
"Nuh uh!" (Bonnie stuck out their tongue.)
"Yuh huh!"
"Nuh uh!!!"
"Yuh huh or you a stupid face."
"YOU'RE a stupid face!"
"Gasp!! Bonnie! How could you! Your own Sister!"
(You fail to hold in your laughter.)
(Why couldn't ever day be this simple.)

I forget we were doing Bleach asks
Retsu and Rukia with a reader who is always perpetually tired no matter how much sleep they get or caffeine they take.
That's fine Anon, though I do hope to get some more soon. Also, I apologize for the shortness of Unohana's part, I tried to make it longer, but it kept feeling forced.
Now! Your Wish Is My Command!
Tumblr media
Rukia was deeply concerned by your sleep schedule.
Once, she found you face down on the floor in the captain's office, out like a light while Captain Kyouraku was kneeling over you, Nanao was looking at you with concern, and Captain Ukitake asked Shunsui.
“Is he dead?”
In response, Captain Ukitake got a “I don’t think so, not yet at least. I think.”
“Oh! Rukia! Perfect timing, we require your assistance on- OH BY THE SOUL KING!!!” Captain Ukitake shouted as you grabbed him by the leg, nearly giving the sickly man a heart attack.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
After that, Rukia was told to keep an eye on you, and to make sure you didn’t scare anyone to death with your… predisposition to stop what you are doing, and lay down on the ground to take a nap.
To begin with, Rukia thought it was because of your work.
That proved to be false when she made you sleep for twenty four straight hours, you woke up, had more energy than usual for one whole minute.
During this minute you picked her up, laid down with her, and slept for another 24 hours.
This was extremely frustrating to Rukia, as that meant it was not your work as a soul reaper.
And so, for the next several months, Rukia set about trying to figure out what in the world was wrong with you.
She brought you to Captain Unohana, who could not heal your perpetual sleepiness away.
She brought you to Mayuri Kurotsuchi, who nearly dissected you in a rage after every single test he ran and drug he tried produced absolutely no results.
She even got so desperate as to go to Kisuke who only gave her a free coupon for 100% of her next purchase at his store after every conceivable test he could think of was run and came up with nothing out of the ordinary.
During this time, she also got a horrible grilling from Yoruichi on just why she was so desperate to see you up and wide awake.
Rukia said it was because she had been told to look after you by Captain Ukitake.
Yoruichi seemed to have gotten a laugh out of this for some reason before saying that someone doesn’t go to Mayuri Kurotsuchi AND Kisuke Urahara unless the world was coming to an end, the head captain himself had sent direct orders, or someone was desperate to help someone important to them.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Yoruichi’s words continued to torture Rukia for months after the fact.
And now, through a comedy of errors, she stood before Shinigami’s Women's Association.
Briefly, she considered using her Zanpakuto to escape this predicament.
Then she remembered that not only was Sui-Feng in the room, one of the four people in the Seireitei or associated with it capable of rivaling Yoruichi Shihoin in speed, but so was the woman voted both the most attractive and scariest captain for as long as she had held office, Retsu Unohana.
Rukia was then forced to accept that she had to spill her guts.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Four hours later, she had been “Persuaded” to act on what she was feeling.
And by “Persuaded” Rukia means that she had been nearly throttled to death by her fellow club members until she conceded to act on what she was feeling.
Now, Rukia stood outside her room which after a while had become the room she shared with you.
She didn’t know when that happened, only that it did not bother her nearly as it probably should have.
But, there was only one thing for her to do.
Step through the door, and ask you a question.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
It was a very slow few days for the Shinigami Women’s Association.
Not a single peep from Rukia during the entire time.
No contact, no nothing.
Then, Nemu of all people made a report.
You and Rukia Kuchiki, kissing under a tree.
Tumblr media
Isane expected many things when she walked through her Captain’s door in the morning.
Her captain doing paperwork.
Her captain waiting for the reports to be delivered.
Her captain staring off into the middle distance as she “Reminisced” over her younger days.
What she didn’t expect was her captain sitting on the floor and running her hand through the hair of the sleeping soul reaper whose head was in her lap.
“Ah! Isane, perfect timing. Would you be so kind as to fetch me a clipboard from the cupboard over there?” Captain Unohana asked with a kind smile that did little to hide her amusement at the situation she was in.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Over the next few days, Isane noticed that Captain Unohana had taken a keen interest in you and your condition.
Or more accurately, you had been chosen as the captain’s new chew toy.
As it turns out, you were quite the listener, even while asleep and the fact you let her play around with your hair was a nice bonus for the Captain Of Squad 4 as she destressed from her day.
Not to mention, you always seemed to make others sleepy when you were around them which probably helped Unohana find her few relaxing moments all the more easier.
Though, that didn’t quite explain why she had such a… connection to you.
At least, until Isane was in the records hall one day, and she pulled out your record.
Now, imagine her surprise when she saw your last name.
“Unohana”.

You had been asleep for three days. Madja said you had a fever from the cold and the ash wood so it would take your body longer to recover. Even with her healing.
Azriel stayed by your side the entire time. Rhys had to come in at one point and drag him out so he could bathe. Az wouldn’t sleep until you were awake. He was so mad at himself for letting you get hurt on his watch. They would investigate the mountain dwellers later. Why they had ash spears, or ash at all. But now, all he could do was watch as you slept.
You stirred in your sleep, a soft whimper coming out as you woke up. Someone was holding your hand, but they dropped it as soon as you opened your eyes.
You blinked a few times, light streaming in from the windows. “Azriel?” You whispered and looked at him, smiling softly.
“You’re awake..” he said and smiled, leaning over to grab a glass of water for you.
He helped you sit up and you kept your eyes on him as you drank the water. “My wings… will I..”
“Yes. The spear came close to one of your tendons but Madja was able to remove it without damaging anything,” he said and smiled, resisting the urge to move the hair from your face.
You let out a soft sigh of relief and looked back to your wing as you slowly stretched it out. “I was such an idiot. I didn’t even do anything to protect myself.” You said, shaking your head as you pulled your knees up to your chest. The cut on your hand had healed already, but your wing was still bandaged.
“Hey, no,” Azriel said and moved to sit down on the edge of the bed. “First of all, you had ash wood in your wing.” He said. “And second, you did everything you could.”
“I didn’t do anything.” You repeated, looking directly at him. “Those males were trying to hurt us and you did all the work. And I got hurt. I couldn’t even unbind my shadows until it was too late.” You frowned, looking forward.
You felt tears well in your eyes out of frustration, not hurt or sadness. “I promised myself I would never let another male harm me. I would protect myself.” You shook your head. “And you needed to do that for me. What kind of warrior am I?”
“One that relies on her allies.” He said and moved closer to you, reaching up his scarred hand to wipe away the tears. When you didn’t flinch, he rested his hand on your cheek. “Illyrians may train to be the best individually at first, but the more important part is training as a team. Learning to rely on the warriors around you, and letting them take the brunt of it when you’re hurt.”
“(Y/N)… you’re still training and you did amazing out there. You didn’t back down, you came with me up there because you knew you could fight. If I had known it was ash wood, we would’ve left right away. You shouldn’t have gotten hurt. But that was on me.” He said, stroking your cheek.
You stared into his eyes, the bit of green that stood out making your stomach churn. Not from the lack of food, but from the way he was looking at you. With so much pride but also disappointment. Disappointment in himself. Neither of your shadows were anywhere to be found. They had settled on the floor, leaving this moment for the two of you.
“Azriel…” you whispered, lifting up your hand to meet his wrist. You slowly lowered his hand from your face, instead taking his hand in yours. “This was not your fault.” You said. “And if you don’t blame me, you can’t blame yourself.” You said, rubbing your thumb over his hand, the ridges smooth against it.
“I was supposed to protect-“
“And you did.” You said, not letting him finish. “You got me out of there before it got worse. And you didn’t get hurt. It could have easily been you that got a spear in your wing, and I don’t think I could’ve done what you did.”
He went to answer but stopped when there was a knock at the door, Rhys stepping inside. “I thought you were awake.” He said, a small smile on his face as he saw you.
He noticed your hands intertwined before you both pulled away from the somewhat intimate moment. The smile on his face only widened farther. “We have breakfast ready at the House. Are you ready to go back?” He asked. “Madja cleared you for winnowing last night.”
You looked around, noticing you were still in the cabin at Windhaven. “Yeah, I am… how long have I been out?”
“Three days.” Rhys answered. “You’ll rest until after Solstice, and then if you want, you’ll go back to training.”
You nodded and shifted to sit up more, wincing at the aching pain that shot from your wing to your back. “I’m lucky those mountain dwellers had horrible aim.” You said, glancing at Azriel. “And that you were there for me.”
“You want Mor to help you get ready?” Rhys asked, keenly aware of the intense stare that was being shared between you and Azriel. After pining after Mor for so long, he was happy to see Azriel with you. Your experiences might have been different, but you were so right for each other.
“No, I got it.” You said and took Azriel’s hand as he helped you out of the bed.
Rhys left without another word and then Azriel went after him.
“Azriel..” you started. He paused and turned towards you. “I wouldn’t have wanted anyone else out there with me.” You said, smiling as he nodded and followed after Rhys.
Tumblr media
You walked with Mor and Amren through the Palace of Thread and Jewels, trying to find a present for the boys. You already got Mor a pair of heels and Amren a jewel display case, with a few jewels already packed in it. You wanted to get Rhys a new pair of boots. He had all the money in Prythian and his fighting boots were so worn down that it was embarrassing. Cassian you were going to get a special sheath for his favorite sword. And for Azriel… well you still didn’t know what to get for him.
“What do you get for a person who saved your life?” You asked the two females as you walked through the clothing racks. You were thinking of a shirt that would make his eyes stand out. For the past two days since you woke up, you couldn’t stop yourself from looking at him. And he was actually talking to you. He would sit next to you at meals. He even agreed to go for a walk with you down the Sidra. You didn’t talk, but you wanted to spend some time with him. Time that wasn’t training. It was so easy to like him. Even when he ignored you, you were enthralled by him. But now… you were starting to wonder how he didn’t have a partner yet.
Azriel was sweet and kind. He would practically do anything for you if you asked. You were sure he didn’t hate you anymore. Not to mention, he was gorgeous. Especially when you got to go up to the training ring and watch him and Cassian spar. And when they would use swords? It was even better. They normally had their shirts off.
“We’ve all saved each other's lives one way or another… so, just get Az whatever you think he’d like… like this.” Mor said and pulled out a very lavish pair of red pants with gems lining the top and down to the bottom.
“Azriel would like this?” You asked, glancing at Amren. You held back a laugh as she shook her head.
“Don’t get him that.” Amren said and took the pants from Mor’s hand, hanging it back up. “What did you get us?” She asked.
“Well I can’t tell you.” You said, smiling at her. “But I’m pretty sure you’ll like it.” You said.
“Maybe a dagger?” You suggested, Amren just shook her head again. You groaned and leaned your head back. “I have no clue.”
“Let’s go further in, there’s some more things he might like.” Amren said and started walking over to a different vendor.
By the time you got back to the townhouse, you had bought the rest of the presents, including one for Azriel.
Rhys also insisted that all of you stay in the town house for the Winter Solstice. You didn’t have anything to complain about, especially when Rhys had given you your own room. It was beautiful, but you preferred the room at the House of Wind. Your bed at the House was slightly bigger and the windows were able to open a lot easier.
You saw Nuala and Cerridwan and quickly gave them the gifts you got for them. It was Solstice Eve and they would be spending the rest of the day and tomorrow away from the town house. Your gifts were some simple baking supplies and also new outfits for the two of them. Specially crafted for shadow wraiths. You’d grown close to them while Under the Mountain and you were glad your two friends were spending this Solstice with their families.
You had gone to the small balcony that looked out to the Sidra, choosing to spend the time before dinner admiring the city. Snow covered the foliage, trees, and roofs. Roads and sidewalks were cleared but there was a light snowfall that started covering it. Your thoughts drifted to your family from the northern village. How they had died… how they would’ve been so in love with this city. You thought about how Oran would’ve been in love with Mor the moment he saw her. How Igna and Sirona would have wanted a house on the Sidra, and probably would have said no to Rhys’s offer to buy them one. You wish they could be here. Wish you could see them one more time to tell them how much they made you the female you were today.
You didn’t know you were crying until a few tears landed on the railing. You looked down and let out a small laugh, wiping away your tears.
Azriel saw you on the balcony as he passed by. You looked so amazing in your dress. It hugged all the right curves, and flowed down to your ankles. The slight wind outside let it flow to your left. Your hair was braided on the top but curls fell down to your shoulders, bristling along with your dress. Even if he couldn’t see your face, he wanted to fall to his knees. In the starlight, you looked incredible. Gorgeous. He couldn’t walk away. Had to tell you at the very least that you looked amazing tonight. He found you crying. Not happy tears, and not sad, but nostalgic. As if you were remembering something happy and missed it. He just wanted to see you smile. To see that bright light that came to your eyes when you found something amusing.
“(Y/N)? Are you okay?” You heard Azriel ask. You turned towards him and gave him a small smile.
“Yeah, just wishing there were a few more people I could spend this time of season with.” You said, looking back at the Sidra. The sapphire river glinted in the faelight, flowing seamlessly through bends and over rocks.
“I know what you mean.” He said. “Rhys’s mother used to cook us an amazing meal for Solstice. We haven’t been able to recreate it.” He said.
At the mention of Rhys's mother, your thoughts drifted to Tamlin. How he betrayed Rhys and allowed his family to kill Rhys’s mother and sister, ripping their wings off. He even killed his father. You thought of Feyre being with Tamlin in the Spring Court. You hoped she was doing well. Hoped her Solstice would be good, even if the Spring Court didn't really celebrate it like Night. Rhys wouldn’t tell you if he knew anything, but you could tell he didn’t like the idea of Feyre being with Tamlin even more than you did.
“You going to join us for dinner?” He asked.
You turned back towards him, burying the grief and worry deep into your gut. Now was not the time for sadness. It was the time for joy and rebirth. The new year.
“Of course. You sitting next to me again?” You asked, walking towards him. When he didn’t step aside, you looked up at him. He leaned against the door frame, shoulder against it. His right wing disappeared behind it, and his left was spread out. Cauldron boil you. He looked good. “Are you going to let me join?” You teased.
“Are you really okay?” He asked, his deep hazel eyes peering into yours.
You paused, your breath catching in your throat. “Yes, I’m okay. I can be a little sad and happy at the same time. Don’t you think?” You asked.
“I wish you weren’t sad at all, you’re much prettier when you’re happy. When you smile.” He said.
You couldn’t help your surprise. Did he just call you pretty? You felt heat rise to your cheeks and you looked down. “Azriel…” you muttered, a small smile forming on your lips.
“There she is,” he whispered, his scarred hand raising up, a finger lifting your chin so you would look at him. “That beautiful smile.”
If you could barely breath before, now you were running out of air. “Where is this coming from?” You asked, looking into his eyes.
“This is the time of season for new things. I figured now would be the time to tell you what I’ve been thinking the past two months.” He whispered.
You swallowed, his hand now moving to cup the side of your neck. “Your smile is beautiful, Azriel.” You whispered timidly. That tug towards him was pulling you closer to him. “I don’t see it enough.” You said.
A small side smile came to his lips. “Wait till tomorrow night. Maybe you’ll see it.” He said, winking at you before he pushed off the doorway, dropping his hand from your neck. He turned around and walked away, leaving you blinking.
What in the Cauldron just happened?

A/N: (First off, sorry this was posted a little late. I didn't have time to schedule it over the weekend... Happy Mother's Day to all the moms reading this!!!) I was so excited to post this chapter. This is really when Azriel steps out of his own head and says what he feels (thank the mother, right?!). Hope you all enjoy! Next chapter is very sweet as it starts with the Solstice.
Also, let me know if y'all want a little drabble as to what Azriel (And Rhys/Cass) do with the mountain dwellers that hurt you (the ones that Az didn't kill, at least). I haven't written it but I would love to type it out!

Maximilian: The Wedding - Part Three
𝐛𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠| 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬| 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭 |
Transcript under the cut
[Xavier]: You look like you can use this more than me.
[Eleanor]: I think I made a mistake.
[Xavier]: Honestly, you're not the first royal bride to say that.
[Eleanor]: What have I married into?
[Xavier]: A circus. A very extravagant circus.
-
[Maximilian]: Were you ever going to tell me?
[Luna]: Tell you what, Your Highness?
[Maximilian]: Don't Luna. Don't do that. Is it...is it mine?
[Luna]: No, Alexander is the father.
[Maximilian]:...
[Luna]:...
[Maximilian]: You're lying.
[Luna]: You don't know that.
[Maximilian]: I know you. You can't lie to me.
[Luna]: What good would the truth be anyway? We both made our choices and we didn't choose each other.
[Maximilian]: I have a right to know! You shouldn't have kept this from me. My own child!
[Luna]: What would you have done? Huh? Call off the wedding? Announce to the entire world that we had an affair and the baby is yours?
[Luna]: That would scandalize not just your family but mine and the Stenhams.
[Maximilian]: I...
[Luna]: Nothing would have changed for us, Max. You know in your heart that's true. We are just their puppets.
[Luna]: No one can ever know. It's for the best.
[Maximilian]: For them?
[Luna]: For your son.
[Maximilian]: I wish...you would have gotten on that plane.
[Luna]: I told you, no one in the Lapré family ever marries for love.
[Maximilian]: What happens now?
[Luna]: Nothing.
-
[Stacy]: Your Majesty, it seems we are missing both the Crown Prince and Princess.
[Morana]: Which Princess?
[Stacy]: The bride, Ma'am.
[Morana]: Yes, the bride. Proceed with the fireworks. That will distract our guests.
-
[Maximilian]: We are missing the fireworks.
[Eleanor]: I don't care.
[Maximilian]: What's wrong, Eleanor?
[Eleanor]: Today was supposed to be the happiest day of our lives and yet...you barely smiled once.
[Maximilian]:...
[Eleanor]: All those times you left for Melide...you were visiting the Duchess of Valencia. Weren't you?
[Maximilian]: Where did you get that from?
[Eleanor]: Just answer the question, Max. Please.
[Maximilian]: I swear to you, it's over.
[Eleanor]: I'm such a fool.
[Maximilian]: Please, I want this to work between us. I...I need this to work.
[Eleanor]: All of it was a lie. Every moment between us.
[Maximilian]: No, I care for you so much. You have to believe me.
[Maximilian]: I never wanted to hurt you.
[Eleanor]: Is the baby yours?
[Maximilian]:...
[Eleanor]: I think I'm going to be sick.
[Maximilian]: I'm so sorry.
[Eleanor]: Do you...do you even love me?
[Maximilian]: Please, don't ask me that.
[Eleanor]: I hate you!
[Eleanor]: I hate you!
-
[Morana]: They told me you are planning to delay your coronation.
[Helena]: I am. At least until we handle this...situation with Lord Montgomery.
[Morana]: You are your grandfather's heir.
[Morana]: With your father's indiscretions coming to light, it's best that we push the coronation sooner. The people need a distraction.
[Helena]: Did you know about the affair?
[Morana]: Of course not. Your mother came to me shortly after the wedding.
[Helena]: And what did you tell her?
[Morana]: I told her, as one day you will have to tell someone you love...
[Morana]: Divorce in this family can never be an option.

HI!
Child reader takes on the persona of a hardboiled detective to solve a mystery. Her fancy cake is missing, and her best friend is also missing.
-You couldn’t be happier! You just got home from school, you had no homework, and you got to eat your special edition anniversary cake from your favorite bakery that you got the day before with Buddha!
-You opened the fridge, seeing your cake waiting for you and pulled it out, beaming down at it before heading to your bedroom, where your stuffed highland cow, Bartleby, was waiting at the tea table, as you had set him before you left for school.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-The box was opened, and you were ready to dig in when you heard Eve, “Y/N~ will you come here please?” you paused, looking down at the delicious cake before you inhaled deeply and ran out, with hopes that you would be back shortly as you ran to Eve.
-Only ten minutes later you were hurrying back to your room, excitement filling every inch of you as the thought of eating your cake.
-Buddha, who had gotten his own, told you in passing how delicious it was, “I wish we could have gotten more than just the one each we were allowed.”
-You opened your door and instantly your elation turned to distraught, your cake was gone, as was Bartleby, with stuffing where he had been sitting.
-You fell to your knees, anguish filling you, tears welling in your eyes before you inhaled deeply once again, rubbing your eyes with the back of your hand, standing up, “I won’t cry, Private Eye Y/N is a hard-boiled private in-best-e-gator! And I’m going to solve this case!”
-Moments later you knocked on Jack’s door who answered it, “Hello there Y/N, what can I do for you?” you held out your hand to him, “Can I borrow one of your hats please?” he seemed surprised by your request, but he got you one, handing it to you and you ran off, “Thank you! I’ll bring it back later!”
-He was a bit confused, wondering what you were playing this time. He’s sure he would find out soon enough. Jack was almost back in his chair where he had been reading when another knock, this time more frantic, came to his door. And who he found standing here was even more surprising.
-Back in your room, you put a lollipop in your mouth, looking around the room after putting up pink and blue steamers, with ‘crime scene’, misspelled, across the door, as far up as you could reach, taping off the crime scene.
-You stood there, monologuing out loud, “It had only been a few minutes. Mama Eve needed my help reaching the button that fell under the couch, a button that only my little hands could reach. Nothing else seems to be out of place. Nothing stolen except for my cake, and with Bartleby missing, it’s not just a burglary, but a kidnapping as well! Time’s a ticking to solve this case.”
-Adam, who had been standing there since you started your monologue, was a bit confused, “Y/N, who are you talking to?”
-You turned, pointing at him, “I’m the one asking the questions pal!” he seemed surprised by your words as you paced around, continuing, “My cake has been stolen, and Bartleby is gone too, and based on this stuffing, he’s hurt, meaning whoever took him hurt him in the scuffle.”
-Adam left you to your game, making a mental note to tell the others to not let you watch any more old cop dramas for a while.
-Zeus was the next one to pass by, about ten minutes later, seeing you using tape to make a crude outline of where Bartleby would have fallen, after he got injured, as well as a ‘crime scene board’, crayon drawings of everyone pinned up on a board, “Y/N what are you doing?”
-You turned, pointing at the crime scene tape keeping him out, “I’m in-best-e-gating! Someone hurt and took Bartleby, and they took my special cake!” he just chuckled warmly, before nodding back down the hall, “I saw Buddha walking by a few minutes ago.”
-Your eyes went bright, looking excited before you composed yourself, “Thank you sir, you may go on your way!” before you crawled underneath your crime scene tape and ran off, looking for Buddha.
-You found him only moments later, lounging in his room, in his big chair, with Loki and Brunnhilde in the room as well, enjoying tea together, “Buddha! I’m coming for you!”
-He seemed surprised as you ran in, looking a bit odd, as you were wearing one of Jack’s hats and a lollipop in your mouth. Brunnhilde was quick to halt you, “Y/N don’t run with candy in your mouth. You’ll choke.” You skidded to a stop, offering her a sheepish apology before you turned back to Buddha, a glare on your eyes.
-You paced back and forth before him, “Buddha, you mentioned earlier that the special anniversary cake was delicious. So delicious that you wished that you could have gotten more than one! So delicious that you took my cake when I was helping Mama Eve!”
-You ended your statement, making your accusation, pointing at him. Their eyes were wide as Loki was trying not to laugh, seeing that you were acting like the cop you’ve been watching on TV, with the monologues and all.
-Buddha leaned back, looking amused, looking down as he moved his own lollipop in his mouth, “Oh-ho~ and do you have any proof of this accusation?”
-You faltered, only for a moment, before speaking back, “Zeus said he saw you down by my room a few minutes ago. Why would you need to be down by my room when your room is on the other side of the house? Just admit it that you stole my cake and return Bartleby to me!”
-Buddha let his façade drop, confusion appearing on his face, “Bartleby, your cow?” you nodded, your eyes locked on him, “You hurt Bartleby, I found his stuffing at the crime scene! You took care of him when you took my cake so there would be no witnesses!”
-Loki was turning red, his hands over his mouth as he was hunched over, his ribs hurting as he was trying not to laugh.
-Brunnhilde then spoke up, playing along with you, “I can vouch for Buddha, he came to help me carry something from my room to the living room. You probably saw it, it’s the large empty box from the new dresser I got.”
-You turned, monologuing out loud again, “The dame’s right. I did see that box; it was big and full of the stuffing that people put in boxes with dressers. There’s no way she could have carried that on her own with how wide it was, and her room is past mine.” Brunnhilde’s eye twitched, hearing you call her a dame, as Loki tipped over backwards in his chair, unable to keep his laughter at bay any longer, roaring with laughter.
-Buddha smiled softly, kneeling down before you as you hit a dead end, putting a hand on your shoulder, “I swear to you Y/N, I didn’t take your cake. Remember when we got our cakes yesterday, we pinkie promised to not each other’s cake.”
-You looked down at your pinkie finger, remembering that promise well, and pinkie promises are something that can never be broken, “Well if you don’t have Bartleby or my cake, who does?”
-Brunnhilde, wanting to have a talk to the others about not letting you watch any more cop shows, just sighed softly, “Trying starting back at the scene of the crime. Maybe there’s something you missed.”
-You nodded softly before you tipped your hat to them, “Thank you miss, and thank you gentlemen.” Before you ran out of the room. Loki and Buddha were laughing loudly as Brunnhilde seemed exasperated.
-You didn’t make it back to the crime scene, but only a few steps out of the room when something caught your eye, stuffing on the ground, Bartleby’s stuffing.
-You fell to your hands and knees, “This is bad! Bartleby needs medical attention before it’s too late! But where is he?!” you left the stuffing there, returning only minutes later with a piece of folded paper, marking it as another clue.
-Back at your board of suspects, you crossed out several of the pictures using a red crayon, as you went over everyone, marking off who wasn’t home and who had alibies, like Eve, as she was with you.
-Odin was walking by when he stopped, seeing you crossing out Thor’s face, as he wasn’t home, “What are you doing Y/N?”
-You didn’t turn to him, instead answering with another monologue, “My list of suspects was dwindling. Each one seems to have an alibi, either they’re not home, or they have someone else who can vouch for them. Even the usual suspects seem to have clean hands. What am I missing?!” as you said this, your little fist hit against your board, for extra drama.
-Odin wasn’t sure what he was watching, seeing you playing out one of your little games, but it seemed more serious as he heard a snicker, looking down to see Loki recording you, “Someone stole Y/N’s fancy cake and took Bartleby, and Y/N’s on the case!”
-Odin just rolled his eye softly, “Y/N needs to stop watching those cop shows.” Loki just cackled softly, finding it amusing.
-You went down to the kitchen, looking distraught as you crawled onto a barstool, or at least you tried to, and Loki lifted you up before ducking back behind the corner, “Ignore me~” as he continued to film you.
-Apollo, who was getting himself something to drink, looked over at you as you sighed sadly, “Give me a double pal, on the rocks.” Apollo paused, hearing your words, before he couldn’t help but chuckle, seeing you pretending to be the hard-boiled detective you were always watching on TV.
-He slid over an apple juice box to you before pretending to clean a glass, like he was working in a bar, “Rough case?” you had been sipping it, but when he spoke you inhaled it quickly before slamming the empty box down on the counter, “I thought I had my man, but my cake is still missing and Bartleby, poor Bartleby- he’s out there, hurt! And I can’t find any clues leading me to my best buddy.”
-Apollo glanced over at Loki, who was holding his free hand to his mouth, like he was in shock. The sun god gave you a small smile, trying to be sympathetic to you, while also going along with your game, “Have you ruled out all your suspects?”
-You looked up at him, “There’s a few still left, I can’t find Lu Bu- Brunnhilde told me he was here, and I haven’t seen Jack or Zeus since the beginning of the case.”
-He handed you another apple juice, for the road, “Am I still a suspect Y/N?” you looked up at him, turning away from him, being dramatic, “Until I find Bartleby and my cake, I ain’t trusting no one.”
-Apollo fought hard not to laugh, holding his hand to his mouth as he doubled over, even more so when he saw Loki basically in the same situation.
-You wandered back towards your room, trying to think of anything you should have missed as you froze, seeing more fluff on the ground before you, fluff that wasn’t there before, meaning, “Whoever’s got my buddy is on the move!”
-You ran back to the kitchen, having finished your apple juice, throwing the empty box away, before running back to your room, grabbing another ‘evidence card’, marking it as you looked around the area, looking for any more clues.
-When you couldn’t find anything else, you felt the tears welling in your, feeling frustrated that you couldn’t solve this case!
-Loki, remaining back, held a hand over his mouth, trying not to cry, seeing you looking so upset, but he knew that you would get your man, eventually.
-You made it back to your room, rubbing angry tears from your eyes, as you looked at your suspect board, seeing who was left, trying to narrow things down a bit more, muttering to yourself quietly.
-You then froze, thinking about your show, “Of course! It all makes sense now! My cake and Bartleby went missing while I was helping Mama Eve, there was only a small window for the crime to happen. Buddha couldn’t take it because he was helping Brunnhilde move the box, but the one who put me on Buddha’s trail in the first place was none other than…”
-You ran out and Loki ran after you, not wanting to be left on a cliff hanger as you made it to the culprit’s room. You kicked the door, to kick it open before you quickly fell to the ground, whining about how your foot hurt.
-You quickly stood back up and opened the door, just a bit before you kicked it open, “ZEUS!!” the god in question flinched, holding your cake box in his hands, having just taken the last bite of it as his eyes went wide, seeing that you had caught him.
-You glared hard, pointing at him, “You knew that I was looking forward to that cake! You wanted one for yourself, but you weren’t willing to stand in line yesterday with me and Buddha for one, as that was the only way to get one! When you saw my cake alone, while I was helping Mama Eve, you thought it was the perfect crime, it would be easy! And you would have gotten away with it, if you didn’t try to pin the blame on someone else!”
-Zeus looked at Loki, hearing your monologue, “I think we need to stop letting Y/N watch those cop shows.”
-Zeus went to run, easily dodging around your short legs and went to run out when he ran into a solid chest, slamming hard into Buddha, who grinned, holding Zeus up from under his arms, “Not so fast there Zeusy, you need to pay for your crimes!!”
-Moments later everyone was in the living room, Zeus was tied up, pouting that he had been caught, as everyone, who was at home, minus Jack and Lu Bu, came down, seeing that you had caught your man.
-Brunnhilde and Adam both scolded Zeus for stealing from you, while Odin was a bit impressed that you solved the case, as Loki showed them all the video he had taken, at least after you visited him, Brunnhilde, and Buddha, showing your critical thinking skills.
-You were very upset that you wouldn’t be able to eat your anniversary cake, holding the empty box before you inhaled deeply, glaring slightly, “You took my cake, which I can overlook, I can get other cakes. But you hurt Bartleby and he’s still missing, now return my best friend before I make you sleep with the fishes with cement shoes!!”
-Okay it was unanimous, you weren’t going to be allowed to watch your cop show for a while, as Apollo, Buddha, and Loki were dying of laughter.
-Zeus gave you a grin, thinking your words were amusing, “I don’t have your cow, Y/N. All I took was the cake. I may have knocked him over when I was trying to sneak in and out, but I didn’t take him.”
-Your face fell, hearing this as you fell to your hands and knees, looking lost, you were sure that Zeus took Bartleby, so there would be no suspects, hurting him to keep him silent.
-Tears quickly filled your eyes, “But if you don’t have him, who does?! He’s hurt, he’s losing stuffing and without medical attention I’m going to lose my buddy! He’s got a wife and kids, with another on the way!!”
-Many tried not to laugh, knowing it wasn’t that serious, but to you it was, but Loki had his own hand over his mouth, tears welling in his eyes, fully invested in the story. Before you heard footsteps and you turned, seeing Lu Bu and Jack there.
-Your eyes went wide, your heart in your ears, as you saw Bartleby in Lu Bu’s hands, his head in one, and his body in the other. Your eyes rolled to the back of your head, and many shouted your name as you fell back, fainting.
-Once you were awake, sobbing in Loki’s arms who was crying as well, Eve was stitching your friend up carefully, Lu Bu confessed, “I was passing by your room, and I saw your cow on the ground. I know you get upset when he’s on the ground, so I went to pick him up. I didn’t know my own strength and I accidentally ripped him.”
-Jack, who was holding the sewing kit, nodded softly, “He’s telling the truth Y/N, he came to my room with Bartleby, asking for my help to fix it. I tried my best, but we needed more supplies, so we snuck around, trying to get him fixed before you found out, but in the end, we still needed help.”
-You sniffled softly, holding onto one of Lu Bu’s hands, “It was an accident, so I forgive you.” He seemed happy with your forgiveness, hugging you close before you turned to Eve, “Give it to me straight Doc, how’s my buddy? Will he be okay? Will he ever be able to play the violin again?!”
-More laughter filled the room as Eve couldn’t help but grin over at you, playing along, “It was touch and go there for a while, but he’s going to be just fine.”
-You beamed at her, and as soon as she was finished, she handed you Bartleby, and you hugged him close, “I’m glad to have you back, partner. You get your rest; I’ll be able to handle a few cases on my own.”
-Adam’s hand came down to rest on the top of your head, “Yeah… about that Y/N. You’re not allowed to watch any more of that cop show for a while.”
-You whined, demanding to know the reason, not thinking what you had done was anything wrong, which caused more laughter.
-Eve took Bartleby from you, promising to put him to bed, as Buddha picked you up, holding Zeus’ credit card, “You and I have a date to the bakery, on Zeus’ dime of course.”
-Zeus was yelling, “Hey! You can’t take that!!” Odin clapped a hand down on the Greek god’s shoulder, “They can and will. You took Y/N’s cake, so you can buy some new ones, and for this crime, you’re on dish duty for the rest of the week.”
-Zeus tried to fight this, as he hated dish duty, but everyone was in agreeance as you left with Buddha, looking forward to some new desserts, your reward for solving the case.

Hiii!! I’m back idk if it’s too early for me to request again, 😭 I was thinking maybe you can do a headcanons for the ninja when their lover Y/n calls them a cute name in middle of battle and for Lloyd it could be “Green Bean” but for Kai “Hotshot” (used by skylor) but I can’t think of the other ninja, maybe you can think of ones for them. The ninja would act like they don’t like the nickname but secretly love it, I really wanna hear your thoughts on this 😭🙏
Honestly, this is a very cutie idea!! 😝🤭 Have been thinking about how to write this one for at least a few days since I got it! It's not the best as I did get stuck on some of the characters more than others 😭🙏
~~~
How they'd react to cute nicknames in probably one of the most unconvinent timings? {Ninjago's Ninjas}
Tumblr media
~ Lloyd Garmadon ~ {Green Bean}
He halted in his movements after he heard you call out to him, "Grean Bean, watch your left!" You shouted this being the first time calling him this nickname, "What?" Nonetheless of being confused, he would continue the battle. Whilest he concealed a smile throughout it and would never confess nor agree that he did such.
Would approach you after about how it was most definitely irresponsible with the timing. Let's just say that you did recove maybe a kiss or more than usually after.
Even with how much he denied his like for it he did secretly wish for it to be used on a more casual term rather then open in battle, knowing the enemy would most likely laugh at him and not be able to take him seriously.
~ Kai Smith~ {HotShot}
Having you right behind him as his rock to hold him from bring hurt, "I've got your back HotShot." It's hard to believe he could be irritated, upset, or angry about it, especially as his lover. Feeding his ego as which also pushed him to work even better, confidence rushing through him.
His arm does often rest around your shoulders, even more now. When he knows you're capable of giving out nicknames, your shoulders will meet rest once again.
Wouldn't bring it out up right away, but he would use it against you if you tried anything in the near future.
~ Cole Brookstone ~ {Pebble}
Didn't even think twice about it and just accepted it at the time being, being too busy to worry about nicknames. Even if he'd get a few butterflies in his stomach from you every time.
"Need help, Pebble?" You had asked oh so sweetly, yet he acted as if he didn't wish to hear it. Crossing his arms with a neutral expression acting as if he didnt like it, but deep down, we all know he is just a softie who enjoys giving and receiving nicknames.
~ Zane Julian ~ {Sherbet}
He fully stopped coding and looked over at you. The only word to explain how he looked was confused. "Have you named me after an ice cream sort?" But decided to jump back to what he had to finish either way.
"I turned off the cameras on the first floor, Sherbet." Only informing him about the updates yet being confronted with a more suspicious reaction then intended.
~ Jay Walker ~ {Blitz}
"Catch Blitz!" Was the only words he heard before he was hit on the shoulder by the the nunchucks someone kicked out of his grip. His heart raced alongside his cheeks, heating up but luckily hidden under his mask.
He truly did appreciate and adore nicknames from the one and only you! He was embarrassed that it was in front of others, so he would "complain" about how he didn't like it even when he thought it was adorable. Flared his nose and shook his head when it came to this topic of liking the nickname.
~ Nya Smith~ {Lily Pads}
"Use the water, Lily Pads!" Her eyes widened, but shook it off quickly to continue her main gaol at this moment. She was confused at first but did find it cute, so she decided not to comment until a better time, at least until there wasn't someone trying to kill them was there.
Ended up never even mentioning it, but she looked unpleased about it. Having gotten used to you spitting out cute names here and there didn't bother her too much after a while.
A scowl on her lips about it, knowing it's best to show you that it wasn't okay for the nicknames to be spat out in important timings.
Soft ficlet for the "Love is a Burning Thing" series
Buck has been a brat all day.
Part of it is that they've both gotten so used to having their days off together, but Buck switched with Johnson and B shift. Johnson always goes to Buck when he's got a kid-related scheduling conflict. Eddie would like to give Johnson a piece of his mind about that, but Buck is always so eager to help. With Eddie at work and Christopher at school, Buck gets bored. And he gets a little sad because all the people he wants to hang out with are working.
He also asked just enough questions about Jee's preschool agenda that Maddie had threatened to pull him off the approved pick-up list if he played hooky with her daughter.
And this combination of being off, alone, and with nothing to do meant that much of his energy is going into being a brat to Eddie.
He, thankfully, hasn't decided to torture Eddie with lewd pictures, but he's gotten very bratty over text and in the two phone calls they've had.
Three, it seems. Eddie picks up the phone. "Sweetheart, we are enroute to a call right now," he says.
"Oh," Buck says. He sighs loudly. "Okay, well, you love me, right?"
"I just married you for the tax benefits, Buck," Eddie replies.
"Eddie," Buck whines.
Eddie laughs. "You could say I'm fond of you."
Buck huffs. "You're the worst."
"Ay mi vida." Eddie shakes his head, looking out the window. "I do love you."
"Good," Buck says. "I love you too. Be safe."
"Will," Eddie promises, and the call ends.
The call is for a collision on the highway. No one is seriously injured, and it's all pretty routine as far as car accidents go. Eddie thinks about Buck, about the call, about Buck making sure he loved him.
"Shit," he says under his breath as he makes his way back to the engine. Buck is spiraling.
When they pull back into the firehouse, Eddie strips out of his gear, helps reset the engine, and then goes right for the bunkroom to call Buck.
"Hello?"
"Hi, sweetheart," Eddie says softly, sitting on the bed. "You were calling earlier to tell me that you're having a rough time, weren't you?"
"You're busy," Buck replies, voice quiet. "I'm okay."
"Buck, can you tell me what's wrong?" Eddie asks.
Buck sniffs a little on the other end of the line. "I don't know. I... got worried that I was too much of a brat."
Eddie wants to hold him so much. He wishes more than anything that he could take away Buck's feelings of being too much. "I would tell you if you crossed a line, sweetheart. And even if you did, I would still love you."
"Even if you had to punish me?" Buck asks.
"Even if. I promise," Eddie says. He glances at his watch. He's not going to be home anytime soon. "I love you, Buck. So much. I'm going to love you for the rest of my life."
Buck sighs. "I love you too. I'm sorry for all this."
Eddie rakes his fingers through his hair. He hates that he can't be there with Buck. "Don't apologize. I know what it's like to spiral like that. Can you rest for me? Set an alarm for when you have to go get Christopher, but until then, I just want you to lay down. You don't have to sleep."
"Yeah, I can do that," Buck says.
"Good boy. Call me tonight?" Eddie asks.
"Yes, sir. Love you."
"Love you, sweetheart." The call disconnects, and Eddie lets out a soft sigh.
He's really going to have to have a heart-to-heart with Johnson about finding someone else to switch shifts with.
Oh hey, the second good scene with Zenos in Endwalker.
Exaggerations aside, I was so grateful for this scene because I'm one of those of the opinion that he should've stayed dead in Stormblood and all we've gotten out of Zenos within Endwalker up to this point is him wanting to fight you.
*Technically* that's all he is in Stormblood, too, but at this point he's been dragged along with the story for almost another 2 expansions.
I kind of at least want *something* more out of him.
And, well, at least now his one-mindedness got just a little more depth.
He basically says, well, people are all self-righteous assholes, who want to change the world in their image and call themselves heroes for it, so I'm at least not going to pretend and be honest about what I want, which is a fight with the WoL because fighting is the only thing that makes me feel something.
Loss of life is loss of life and bad regardless of the reason it happens.
The issue with this is that you can say it about every single person ever trying to do any good in the world and even more so for flawed people trying to do good in the world.
So should we just stop trying to do any good because everyone might have a personal or imperfect reason for it?
Yes, self-awareness is absolutely a very good trait to have when you aren't perfect and have made mistakes before and so is self-reflection regarding your actions, especially if it involves doing bad to do good, which can be a slippery slope.
But this is the repeat of the Elidibus scene in terms of morality: despite him giving you a lecture on the morality of your actions, he is also a perpetrator of multiple genocides.
Fact is, sometimes bad things have to be done in the name of good because there is evil in the world that does not listen to reason and needs to be stopped.
A response to this would be the idea of good and evil being relative to someone's flawed perspective, but I like to stay grounded and say, maybe killing millions isn't much of a matter of perspective, especially if they are all equally sentient.
I think therefore I am and all.
I've seen people bring this up in response to the characters forgiving villains and the like, but to me the key here is that Zenos could... y'know choose to just not kill lots of people.
Gaius backs his words with action. Fordola backs her words with action. Nero goes under this, too. Redemption is earned, not given out arbitrarily. This story is incredibly consistent with that at least, but even if it wasn't, people will always be imperfect in some way, so even Alphinaud still qualifies under this considering his mistakes and attitude during A Realm Reborn.
No, a good reason is not "better". Emet, Hermes, Elidibus, all had "good reasons", but not once was what they ended up doing framed as (or said to be) "good, actually".
You can empathize without excusing.
Alisae's response is also really good; Zenos will probably never actually find "true fulfillment" with the principles he laid out, a path of violence is generally also a path of loneliness, and the truth is he, too, seeks some sort of connection via wanting to fight the WoL.
Violence is just the only way he can express this wish to connect with someone.
I also like this scene for Jullus getting to say his piece.
A solid scene before the hell that is 80% of the lvl 88 quests.
(Finished all of the lvl 88 quests today, so more posts are probably coming about them. I'm also probably Endwalking tomorrow, depending on how everything works out.)
The deeper I get into the supernatural seasons, the more that the specter of Cassie from season one haunts me tbfh. Where is she, what is she up to? I miss her 🥺
She was Dean's first love and they hyped up her relationship to him as something unbreakable and in future tense, and yet she has never even so much as been MENTIONED since. What happened? I know many, many side characters only get a single episode, but she had such interesting dynamic building. Especially when, as the series progresses, we get to learn about Dean more and get to watch him morph in something I am not sure she would recognize. Is she still holding out a candle for this version of him that never saw hell, that never experienced these personal horrors he has been battling ever since?
Also, just to make note so that it is not forgotten--there are some intense parallels between her and Dean! The reveal that the Winchesters are Men of Letters was both shocking and enlightening, in ways that Cassie's own deep dive into her family history echoed of. Obviously the situation is not one to one, but it's an obviously lost avenue of character development to the show. It's such a shame, and honestly, I haven't been able to get her out of my mind for months now.
Eugene was truly the best boyfriend. saw his girlfriend get broken up with, and immediately had a revenge glow up. Imagine being Cassandra seeing your ex girlfriend's boyfriend and he's wearing a golden choker with the just deepest v neck known to man, the world's sluttiest gloves, and a thigh garter. I'd have to give up then and there.
Today was the last DND session for a three-year campaign and I am big sad :(
One of the players brought whiskey for a last toast, which was very kind of them. I had never had whiskey before. Turns out I do not like whiskey. Unsurprising.
It tastes like slightly nicer hand sanitizer.
#blue chatter#it was a flavored whiskey as well#everyone else who had it said it was rly smooth and sweet#so I don’t think I super wanna know what regular whiskey tastes like#it was supposed to be like vanilla caramel flavored or smth#I was told it was like cream soda and that was a LIE it was like disinfectant#with a vanilla aftertaste#the campaign went rly rly well though#I’m seriously going to miss it#the final boss battle was just pure catharsis we absolutely whaled on that dark abberant goddess#she got Destroyed#an entire section of the continent restructured bc of the removal of her corruption#I rly like that my character got to be disabled at the tail end of this campaign#they wielded experimental magic that wasn’t supposed to work and resurrected someone who the Keeper very intentionally kept dead#it worked because they partially fused with Arawai the goddess of life and became her aspect on earth#but becoming partially divine in a mortal body takes a toll#they had more and more limited mobility and the more they cast magic to compensate the more of a toll it takes#functionally that meant my movement speed was reduced#and I lost more abilities after each combat as the consequences of overextending myself caught up to me#I wish I’d gotten to play this longer to see how this ended mechanically but it was a lot of fun to get a character who is both#very magically competent and still disabled and that still affects their ability and they still get the dignity of risk#to choose whether to continue casting or not knowing the consequences of doing so#it is very much a fantastical disability which I flavored heavily off of chronic fatigue and a mobility disorder#in-game their skin became hard and brassy around their joints which make them difficult and painful to bend#they lose a lot of sensation and fine motor control#thankfully they have a lot of money from their adventuring so they can commission an accessible house and mobility aids#and their friends help take care of them
