i'm a new to posting gifs. how do you know who to tag to get more exposure? my last couple of sets haven't gotten a lot of traffic.

Hi anon! I always start with the name of the media i'm giffing and the edit tag for the show or movie, transatlantic and transatlanticedit, for example. If there are other popular tags for the media, I also include that, e.g. transatlantic netflix.

Next I try to include a few source blogs related to the media. Some fandoms have dedicated source blogs, like heartstoppercentral, narliesource, tedlassogifs. Other source blogs focus on specific characteristics, like blackandwhiteedit, dailycolorfulgifs, usergif (for sets with effects, like blending and animated transition or text). There are a ton of source blogs out there and I think it's a bit of trial and error in figuring out which ones to tag for each set. My advice is to look at other sets in your fandoms to see what source blogs others are tagging, then check out the blogs to see if you like the content they post and want to include them. Note: some blogs only post and queue creations from their members, so make sure you read the individual blog rules before you start tagging.

I also belong to two gifmaker networks, @pscentral and @lgbtqcreators, where we poll our fellow gifmakers to see who might want to be tagged in a set to help spread the word. Tiny plug here but both groups are really fun and the members are very helpful and encouraging regardless of your skill level. I will be completely honest with you -- I was nervous and intimidated when I first joined but I'm happy to say my fears were unfounded. I've learned a lot in the time I've been a member and it's great to be part of a community of other gifmakers. If that seems like your kind of thing, I encourage you to check the networks out and join us!

I also have a few gifmakers I've gotten to know through my fandoms and who generously support other creatives by adding posts to their reblog queue. I've posted about this a few times but along the same lines, you are welcome to tag me by adding #userbarrow to your tags. If you're not sure if you should tag me, check out my tracking tag page. for more info.

It's also important to remember that only the first 20 tags on your post will show up in the tags on tumblr, so if you flail wildly add commentary tags, save them for the end.

Finally, the best advice I can give you is to be active and engage with other creatives. Reblog posts you enjoy instead of just liking them. Reblogging is the best way to promote other's work, as you would want them to reblog yours! Add fun tags in your reblog if that's your thing. Or leave a comment letting the original poster that you loved their meta or photo edits or gifset. The more you engage with others, the better chance you have of making new fandom friends and increasing your exposure!

on my knees begging you to please look up “squick” if you don’t know it and help bring it back to fandom space by using it. it’s a valuable word we’re missing that through normalizing could solve some of the more prevalent communication issues.

In a very important home life update: we got a high vis vest for one of our chickens

They apparently have a great unintended use of stopping hens from getting bullied, so we got one to try it out since the above hen gets excessively picked on by the others (we don't really know why).

Remember, the second and third can't happen if you don't have something to work with. Your first draft will always be shit compared to your third, but at least it exists. The worst first draft is an unfinished one. The best first draft is a just completed one.

You read books/stories not in their first draft form-- only in their finished form (third, fourth, sometimes fifteenth draft). So stop comparing your first draft with a final one.

So, just write--you can make it better later. Perfectionism is the greatest weight a creator can carry.

hi everyone sorry to make another post, but I was sick with a sinus and ear infection that I had to miss 4 days of work to recover from. Sims 3 Gameplay Mods

I was going through MTS looking for mods to improve my gameplay and thought I would share the ones I downloaded!

Livestreaming Mod - Allows your sims to livestream from a PC for tips, blog followers, and celebrity points.

More Pregnancy Interactions - Adds more options for the pregnant sim and more social interactions with all age groups!

Yoga Mod - Allows your sim to do yoga and also lead a yoga class for simoleons.

Laundromat Fix - Actually empties the laundry hamper on your sims home lot when using a washing machine at a laundromat.

Dirty Laundry Mod - Gives your sim a negative moodlet when dirty laundry hasn't been washed in a few days. Gives more incentive to do your sims laundry!

Layoff Mod - Gives your sim a 2% chance at the end of every work day of being laid off. Depending on their work level they may get unemployment benefits.

Nicer Vendors - Overrides the default animations when interacting with vendors, looks more friendly.

Acne Mod - Gives teens-adults a chance of waking up with acne. Adds washing face options and applying acne toner at sink.

Sunscreen - Allows you to buy sunscreen from the store, will protect sims from getting a sunburn with Seasons installed. Works on vampire sims as well.

Restaurant Host Career - Allows your sim to work part time at diners/bistros as a host. Only 1 career level.

TSM > TS3 Facial Expressions - Overrides most s3 facial expressions with the sims medieval ones making them a lot more realistic and natural looking.

One With Nature - Allows your sims to sleep outside on ground, wash themselves in bodies of water, and go to the bathroom outside. Needs Nraas traveler mod to work. (Good for apocalyptic gameplays/adding realism?? haha)

Walk Cycle Edits - Overrides original walk cycles so there's no forced smile, allowing your sims to make facial expressions based on mood/surroundings.

The Randomizer Mod - Triggers more random events that effect your household. Adds more realism and can effects the relationships/friendships your sims have. (Can choose between which random event modules you want in your game based on play style!)

More Negative Moodlets - Negative moodlets cause a greater effect on your sims mood making it a bit more realistic.
